Watch that last scene again, where it's being filmed backwards. Watch his mouth. It lines up with the lyrics. Weird Al lipsynced BACKWARDS so it would show correctly in the video.
His parody of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" the one with the cue cards called "Bob" is brilliant. It is hard enough to write songs but to write lyrics that read the same backwards and forward is genius. Most do not catch this , pause video and read the cue cards and you will see what I mean.
He is a tremendous talent. And the biggest example of just not taking yourself serious. He found his niche in music, and completely owns and dominates it.
Funny when Al introduced the video originally, he said,”I just want to say to all the Amish people watching this, WHAT ARE YOU DOING WATCHING THIS!! YOU SHOULDN’T BE WATCHING TV!!”
@ravissary79 I wasn't going to deep dive into, but you're 100% correct. Many, for instance, have a telephone in a small structure not attached to their house. I'm not sure what the rules for it are, though, like distance ect. I honestly try not to pry, as I don't want them to feel like I think of them as being drastically different. Even though they are. 😅
The fact that dude learned his song backwards phonetically in order to film this video is the craziest and became one of the most impressive things I’ve seen put into a music video, let alone a parody music video. Dude deserves ALL of the respect
and he can still sing it backwards years later. There is a recent video here on youtube where he did it. Odd thing was a couple of the words were forwards.
Yoder Kansas is Amish, I never spent time in Yoder Colo to know if it was. Going to Falcon or Calhan. I also like parody of Bob Dylan in palindromes, Madam I'm Adam, ua-cam.com/video/eIty7RqbF9o/v-deo.htmlsi=hcztNVwZ4B2e8pc8
It is my favorite one. Before that my favorite was Whatever you like and before that was White and Nerdy, before that Amish Paradise and That's your Horoscope for today. I could keep going. I was a fan as a kid in the 80's.
The line "There's no phone, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury. Like Robinson Crusoe, it's as primitive as can be" is directly from the Gilligan's Island full theme song.
The melody was originally from a song by David McCallum who was Dr Donald “Ducky” Mallard on NCIS early on in his career when he was mainly a singer he got into acting later on
@Black Pegasus Here is an interesting story in regards to this song. When Weird Al asked Coolio's label if he could parody the song they quickly agreed but Coolio didn't. For years Coolio held a grudge against Weird Al because of it. Coolio eventually realized that Weird Al wasn't doing it as an insult and that all these other great artists, like MJ, didn't have a problem with Weird Al paroding their songs than why should he? He ended up apologizing to Weird Al and they ended up being cool with each other.
Yeah, so sometimes people don't realize that you don't actually need permission from anyone to do a parody, it's completely legal, Weird Al would just ask out of common courtesy. One artist who never ever gave him permission, so he never did any of his songs, was Prince. So, no Weird Al parodies of Prince songs exist, because he never gave him permission.
It almost happened again with Smells like Nirvana. Dave Grohl and the rest of the band gave permission to parody Smells Like Teen Spirit, they never asked Curt becuse they didn't know how he'd react. He ended up laughing his ass off when he heard it, according to Dave, he (Curt) even caught himself a number of times using Weird Al's lyrics.
Lady Gaga was the exact opposite situation. When Al called her label and asked permission to parody "Born This Way," they said no without asking her. When she found out later, she said "YOU CALL HIM RIGHT BACK AND SAY YES1"
Exactly None of these younger folks have any idea who she is and that is why the line " I know Im a Million times as humble as tho art" is so damn funny
I think this was during the time T-shirts were going around with her face on them, and the words "Porn Queen". For some reason it gave her a short resurgence of fame.
There was also a bit of drama because Coolio initially wasn't consulted and got a little upset when he heard about the track (he and Al became good friends later).
@@JackgarPrime Yeah, I think the Eat It video was the one that gave him his first big boost, it got a lot of play on MTV. He had a few other hit parody videos before Amish Paradise, but it was definitely next level. Then he had kind of a long dry spell until he came up with White and Nerdy
When he did the lines, "There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar, not a single luxury. Like Robinson Crusoe, it's as primitive as can be", that is part of the theme song for Gilligan's Island. Touching on what you said about technology, yes, it is good to disconnect once in a while. Me and some friends of mine used to gather on the 4th at a buddy's lakehouse every year to drink and shoot off fireworks. Cell reception was very spotty out there, so what I would usually do is just turn my phone off and toss it in my bag. I'd (maybe) turn it on and try to check messages once a day (just in case of a family emergency or something), but otherwise, the phone stayed in my bag, and stayed off. It's a nice feeling to unplug from the net for a few days.
More Weird Al! He’s so talented! You should do: Word Crimes (for Blurred Lines), Foil (for Royals), Fat (for Bad), etc. Weird Al is super smart and talented
On a serious note, what made me admire the Amish was, in 2006, a man walked into an Amish school and shot and killed 5 Amish girls before shooting himself. On the day of the murder's funeral, the Amish community showed up at his funeral. They told the parents, "We lost our children, but you also lost yours. You have our sympathy."
too bad I know a guy who's ex-Amish that his dad committed suicide, and they not only didn't allow his dad to be buried in their cemetery, he had to set a camera up by his graveside so they would stop vandalizing it...they are not a monolith
Amish don't use anything that requires electricity, they don't drive or anything. Mennonites do have electricity and can drive a car, they can also wear dresses with colors other than black. Amish only wear solid colors and are limited to black, blue or grey. I'm from Pennsylvania and we would see the Amish on their buggies around town.
It used to be that Amish did not use any form of electricity at all in the last 10 to 20 years most Amish have become more progressive. The majority of Amish now can you use electricity as long as they're not tied into the grid, OR own the building that the electricity is coming from. Solar is very popular in the Amish communities now. The solid color dressing it's still a thing, but they are not limited to the black blue or gray anymore depending on their specific order. Some will allow purples and pinks to be worn.
It actually depends on which order of Amish you are talking about. Some do use cell phones and have lighting in their homes (often on generator power instead of being on the grid). It just depends on what their elders vote to allow.
You should react to Al's "Hardware Store". Insane flow. Since others are recommending some of his tunes, I'll add a few of my favorites to the list. "One More Minute", "Dare To Be Stupid", "Foil", "I Lost On Jeopardy" , "Tacky" and "Handy". You can't go wrong with a Weird Al reaction.
I don’t think he ever did a video for it, but his parody “Trapped in the Drive-Thru” still cracks me up every time I hear it. He seriously committed to that one lol.
One More Minute is one of my favorite songs of his. In fact Weird Al gets all the credit for his parodies. But IMHO, his best songs are his original songs, which this is one of them. He need to rect to more of these. One More Minut, Dare To Be Stupid, and Trigger Happy.
@@theicedevil One More Minute was epic live. He walked off the stage and down the aisle of the theater and at some point a robe was put on him mimicking James Brown. Hilarious!
Oh yes, the music video to “I lost on Jeopardy” was part of the pitch used (to show it was still relevant) to reboot Jeopardy. Al’s video pre-dates Alex Trebek’s entire Jeopardy tenure!
He made parodyan art form. He's so good there isn't another one like him. Regular people will do parody skits but noone has tried to be what Weird Al is to the entertainment world/industry doing what he does.
I'd argue there are, in fact, bad Weird Al songs. Not very many, but I've heard a number that are just bad, such as Yoda. Also some of the stuff included in his polkas, which can be highly variable in quality even within the same song.
Fun fact, Tony Hawk was in that video, and Al didn't know about it. Years later Tony brought it up and Al was so surprised that he re-watched the video frame by frame to spot him in the crowd shots.
As for amish and autism, the amish go to doctors far far less often than the typical american, as they believe God heals. They don't forbid seeing physicians, but they may well get diagnosed less often with diseases, including autism because they don't consult health experts often.
I agree with you. And I do believe there are numerous studies regarding the Amish and a higher-than-normal incidence of inherited genetic disorders - probably due to intermarriage amongst a relatively small group of people. That said, on the whole, they do seem to lead a healthier lifestyle than the typical American - diet, exercise, less stress, etc.
I came here to say that- the Amish are way less likely to seek a doctors advice on anything. I’m sure there are plenty of people in their communities with autism that are just diagnosed.
Especially with something like autism it is also not exactly an objective diagnosis. There's no blood test or anything. A lot depends on what the parents are describing about the kid and just communicating with the kids, which is obviously going to be impacted by cultural differences.
I've not seen that. In fact amish get Medicaid and foodstamps. I seen them in local Dr's and hospitals. They're not cloistered. They run public businesses and shop where everyone else does. Their kids attend public school, if there's not their own, boys until 7th and girls til 5th or sixth.
Weird Al is mad talented! He might make fun but in such brilliant ways. There's a few that's educational too!!! Bruh I'm here for any reaction to him!!! ❤❤❤
Love that you're doing Weird Al! This is one of my favorites. Also love that you're talking about health. This is a big interest of mine too. Love RFK Jr. and his push for a healthier food system.
So glad that you going down the Weird Al rabbit hole. He is so talented - the production values are on point, the videos really clever - and the lyrics - it is not easy to write on a specific topic, whilst maintaining a connection to the original - it is so clever. In making this video - he explained how dangerous the barn toppling on him was - to keep the structure stable so that is would not flex - it was incredibly sturdy - and therefore very dangerous - so in paying homage to Buster keaton style stunt, it was dangerous - if the calculations had not worked - it would have killed him! Also he had to learn the lyrics backwards to have the last chorus played to a film that was run backwards. he said that he remembered those lyrics for about 3 months afterwards, and then they drifted away! You need to show this to your mate Joe who is the videographer, see what he makes of this film - it really is well shot All about the Pentiums (all about the Benjamins), Fat (Bad) Smells Like Nirvana (smells like teen spirit) - are all worth a watch. Love him
The Amish aren't as healthy as you'd expect. It's not like they get a lot of genetic diversity introduced into the population. They are known to have genetic disorders, metabolic, and nervous system, which are becoming more normal for them.
Also probably why there is less autism. It tends to run in families and if there aren't families who have had the genetic variations that cause it being introduced into the gene pool, it hasn't been introduced as widely and the cases that do appear are purely from normal mutation. Plus it's far less likely to get diagnosed in an Amish community.
@@kyletucker3811 That's possible, but I'd chalk it up more to lack of reporting. I mean, if some of the biggest indicators of autism (on the less noticeable side of the spectrum) are social idiosyncrasies, how do you fully evaluate that in a population of people who reject most modern social conventions? And that's on top of having a group of people that go so far to avoid government meddling they (some groups at least) were able to avoid having to chip into the social security system.
lol no they are far more healthy than the general public. They don’t have all the plastics and chemicals that are proven to cause disease and mental illness
@@ReleaseTheQuackers It was about "The Ban" (how to treat fallen believers). The Mennonites believed they should be denied communion but could share meals. The Amish said they should be avoided at all times.
Love the reactions to Weird AL! I first heard him on Dr Demento on the radio in the 80's when I was a teen. Please react to "Like a Surgeon"! check out the original Madonna video "Like a Virgin" first
5:20 The reason there are lower rates of autism is probably because A) probably doesn't get diagnosed unless it is severe B) because there are so few Amish people, the genes that cause autism haven't gotten into their gene pool as much. It likely has very little to do with the environmental factors of their lifestyle.
@@ARCtheCartoonMasterI wouldn’t say so much that he’s saying it’s a “bad thing”, moreso supporting pseudoscience that implies autism is something that’s other than genetic.
The thing is my moms side of my family is Amish it’s nice going to visit their house and just to get a break in their community it’s in a city and the city has like 26,000 people and like 1/4 of the town is like old and like converted for the Amish that live there it’s awesome!
So many great tracks of him. "Perform this way", "Fat", and "Rocky Road" are musts. Also love the White Stripes styled "CNR". Would love to see some reactions to these. But I feel that we will see more of Weird Al on your channel anyways.
One thing that always amazes me when seeing people react to this song is that no one has realized Al was able to work two lines from the opening theme to Gilligan's Island seamlessly into the lyrics.
Ballssss yessss...part 3 B Peg....part 3.....even at your age you will get the cereal references....oh, but yall tell him to listen to the actual conf songs first so he will get the parody of it....man...im gonn a listen to all of them now...thanx for the reminder...
One thing nobody seems to be suggesting is to check out Al's songs that are NOT parodies (but are still hilarious, and often in the style of a popular artist). "Hardware Store" is life-changing, "One More Minute" and "You Don't Love Me Anymore" are amazing, and his Polkas (generally taking 10-20 popular songs and turning them into a polka) are an absolute riot.
I love Dog Eat Dog... It's definitely a Talking Heads song, except it's not! It's an original just in the style of TH. Now that is talent, how was able to perfectly pick up the nuances of the band. Al is truly a genius.
Weird AL is awesome. He also always asked the bands if he could do a parody of their songs and if they said no, he wouldn't do one. He asked Metallica a few times and they always said no.
would love for you to check out more Weird Al, so many great parody's, Eat it, Like a Surgeon, The Saga Begins, Another One Rides the Bus and much more
Love weird Al..Always brightens my day when i need a laugh. Can't wait to see him in June. Got tickets for my fiance and I. He's a big fan of Weird Al. It will be a blast.
"I know I'm a million times as humble as though art." That's still my favorite line in the song. It's a thinker. Wait just a minute and it'll hit. There it is. Brilliant!
Reminds me of an earlier song by The Barron Knights: "Oh Lord it's hard to be humble, When you're perfect in every way. I can't wait to look in the mirror, 'Cause I get better looking each day."
Since you mentioned the centerfold that brings to mind that you should really check out Centerfold by The J Geils Band. I guarantee you’ll add that to the playlist.
Cool choice. It's nice to see people checking out different things. I've watched a lot of your reactions, I dig them and subscribed to the channel because of the honest reactions. Still screaming Motionless in White, Thoughts and Prayers! Be easy
Werid Al is a fckn genius when it comes to parodies, he perfected the genre if that's a thing, Madonna and Michael Jackson were friends of his so it was easy to use their songs in the beginning....that was the mid 80s and it only got better from there. Great reaction. 40!
Like a Surgeon was actually Madonna's idea and her person got in touch with Al somehow and it is the first time he used someone else's idea and Al has blanket permission to parody any MJ song, except Black or White, and MJ gets cowriting credits lol
Although they are definitely dark and twisted, why has no one recommended either "Christmas at Ground Zero" or "The Night Santa Went Crazy" You'd've thunk the record company would have learned not to force Weird Al to do a Christmas tune after "Christmas at Ground Zero", but they demanded another.
LANCASTER, PA HAS THE AMISH AND THE BIGGEST BUFFET IN THE WORLD OWNED BY MENITES. CALLED SHADY MAPLE SMORGASBORD 🍁 YUMMY GREAT FOOD. ALSO HAS HUGE GIFT SHOP FULL OF EVERYTHING INCLUDING AMISH ITEMS
Generally speaking, the Mennonites are Amish who do not shun fancy things like electricity. They drive cars and have lights and appliances but they are still very strictly religious in the same way that the Amish are. From what I know and learned about them when I lived outside of Lancaster PA for a few years. For instance I saw many at the local Texas Roadhouse eating whenever I went but you'd never see a full Amish family there. The Amish did however go to Walmart. Matter of fact, Walmart has a special covered area with water and hay for the horses the Amish would bring when they came to Walmart . I always thought that was so cool! You need to listen to Weird Al's "Word Crimes". THAT is a great song.
Just saw the reaction and for many of you I saw the Florance Henderson (Mrs. Brady) cameo and the Gilligan's Island verse when the song and the video was first released but was surprised when BP didn't catch it (you're slippin' & trippin' old man 🤣).
I have lived, all my life, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, close to the Amish community. They are good people but they are now having problems with being overweight and diabetes. They can't afford to buy farmland and they are starting businesses like roofing and homebuilding, making beautiful furniture and Kitchen cabinets. They do leather work too. They make harnesses for their horses and they sell to the English. ( If you are not Amish, you are English) oh, the stories I could tell you.
He is The Guy and that's all there is to it. You'll crave it. Like there will times maybe when you're just kind of fed up and you just need to watch his stuff because it such a nice break. I will probably say then Living With A Hernia if you haven't check that out yet. I think the video for that will make you grin from ear to ear.
ok as someone who has family that are Amish and has spent summers in Lancaster as a kid. let me just say you only want to visit because you haven't lived it. the line its hard work and sacrifice is 1000% correct. there is vary little time for anything fun. oh and bundling is the weirdest dating custom in the world.
The lyrics in the middle of the song come from the Ballad of Gilligan's Island. (No phone, no lights, no motorcar, not a single luxury. Like Robinson Crusoe, it's primitive as can be.)
They are actually very nice people. I used to go to their communities and pick up antiques from them. One group was my favorite , the hook & eye Dutch . They made their own shoes, the laces half way up are called the hooks , the bottom holes the eyes.
All of Weird Al's spoofs are right on. My 2 faves are Taco Grande (Rico Suave parody) and E-bay (Backstreet Boys' My Way parody), but this one is superb!!
Claims that ASD appears in lower rates in Amish communities are not backed by scientific evidence. They typically cite a single study from 2010 in which a few thousand children were examined and diagnosed and found that it was less prevalent in that sample group. That doesn't mean anything except for that sample group. As for Amish people being healthier in general, that is true due to their lifestyle and diets, however they also have much higher rates of breast cancer and juvenile leukemia.
Last I heard there is a hereditary link that tends to follow down the male side, not the cause of all autism, but very prevalent. So that can also be a factor why more insular communities have lower to no cases.
Well OF COURSE it is not backed by 'scientific evidence'! The Amish HATE going to modern Hospitals in order for any of this to get recorded, all of that goes against their beliefs! Try scoring a brain before attempting logic. This stuff isn't anywhere near 'rocket science' but you made it very clear that it is definitely above your pay grade. Try again when you grow up, AFTER graduating Sixth Grade.
ALL of Weird Al's stuff is that great as far as being funny versions and odd takes of other songs. There is a song called 'Lola' that was on an album by The Kinks from 1970. I suggest listening to that song (maybe even reacting to it) before listening to Weird Al's song 'Yoda'. He got permission from both sides, The Kinks and Lucasfilm, to do that song, and it is HILARIOUS! He does stuff like that ALL THE TIME! Or if he does not change the lyrics at all, he makes the song into a Polka-style re-mix! The guy is a COMEDY GENIUS!
About the Joe Rogan "facts" - JR is great to learn the difference between causation and correlation, because he is a prime example of getting it wrong. Autism in Utah is probably underreported, or just plainly refuted as existent by medical professionals with religious agendas. Context matters.
And just what does Utah have to do with the Amish? Or are you confusing things you have no idea about? Can't tell the difference between the Amish and Mormons?
How about grinding on medical “professionals” with other agendas? Like that idiot media-whore Anthony Fauci, whom we were all told was the Great Messiah of Coronavirus and that he was going to save us from ourselves?
He’s really smart. He was a valedictorian in high school and graduated early in the late 70s. He got his name in college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He’s from the LA area.
I agree with you BP, 100%!! What the world thought was a good idea turned into our living nightmare.. in my opinion they are the ones who are living the good life. Thanks BP!!
There must be a happy and healthy medium. I live in L.A., CA and not near an Amish community. I have a friend that does, and one can visit the Amish community where they are selling their goods. My friend said it is delicious. Plus, it is healthy since they grow and farm what they need. My three favorite scenes in this video are the sun dial, the Coolio hairstyle and the exaggerating perspiration pouring down Weird Al's face. I believe the blond lady was Florence Henderson, Mrs. Brady of the TV Brady Bunch. I believe most of the descriptions/lifestyles of the Amish is true. I saw an Amish Paradise reaction with a once Amish raised girl and her friend was questioning her, is that true on this and that. One thing I found interesting, the Amish clothing does not use buttons. She did not say how their clothing closes, but I assume buttons were around longer than zippers. This video brings the adults back to living a simpler life, home grown foods and hard work in doing farming, building structures, maybe walking/exercise if they do not have the horse and buggy, clean/fresher air due to the lack of industrial, equipment. Also, it does not expose children what they watch and listen too. This video is good for children to watch, not for the comedy, but to show what the Amish do not have and the kid's appreciation of what their parents provide them and not abuse their privileges. I am in my 60's, do kids nowadays do chores for privileges or receiving an item/gadget. I have not watched it, but there is a reality show, showing once the Amish kid turns 18 years old, they get one year to experience the current ways of life in the big city. They then decide if they want to come back to the community or stay and live this new life. I do not know what percentage that goes back to their old lifestyle. I do not know what their religion is, the rules they obey, and what is proper in their lifestyle (the old Mormon's men got to have more than one wife, go pick the men for their daughters and the girl might be younger than 18 years and made to marry. but they can use the current conveniences. As long as the consenting adult wants it, the man can afford several wives and many, many children, that's fine with me. Just keep things in your house and recruit others that do not know better). I assume, the children do not know any better what the world has and do not know what they are missing. There is this UA-cam show I watch, What the Hales. They had an episode of them visiting an Amish community. It might be interesting for your older daughter and watch the everyday Amish person (the ladies wearing traditional outfits) do and make things that daddy will just go to Home Depot and buy off the shelves (except the horseshoer). This community has an open flatbed trailer, and I assume it was pulled by some animal; with the tourist can tour their lands and from the seats, feed the farm animals. Some animals were not so traditional on a farm. Visiting and feeding the animals is something I would like, along in trying their pastries. The previous person mentioned to watch Weird Al's Word Crimes. It was funny, but educational. I do not listen to much newer music, but Weird Al, by people who are aware of the original videos say, the cadence is on point, putting his words in the melody of the original song. I have seen different versions of Weird Al's video and the video of Fat and Eat It there is a version with Weird Al's video is side by side of the original video and one can see how the dance moves are being copied by Weird Al. Back in the 1970's, I remember Weird Al and him playing his accordion and it being nonsense. Today, I am viewing his later videos, and I did not know he did these types of videos when they first came out. So, I am catching up. It is interesting reading the back story of the parody, especially with Eat It and Bad. The original performer helped with the making of the video and making it look authentic. Sometimes it is good to watch the original so you can pick up little hints of the original, or if you want to be surprised, watch Weird Al's first, then watch the original and go back to watch Weird Al's for the comparison. Some videos are not from a music video, some are from an event or movie and it you will get the funniness if you know the movie.
Sooo something to note about the health of the Amish is that I don't know about their autism rates, but they used to show up a LOT to my children's hospital with kids who had serious genetic problems. Their gene pool is pretty small because they also aren't great to women in their communities, unfortunately. I know that's a side note but sometimes these days I see people romanticizing the past like "50% infant mortality rate without modern medicine, lol what's that." Going back to nature is 100% a great move, but maybe let's do it in a socially progressive way and not a radically conservative Christian way.
Hey, if you like buffets. You should try the biggest in the world 🌎 it is in the Lancaster Pennsylvania area and called Shady Maple Smorgasbord. It's a huge building and on its lower floor it has the biggest gift shop as well. Great place to walk after you eat to work off the huge amount of food you eat at the buffet. Check it out it's a great place.

@@supersasukemaniacAl spoke to Kurt directly.
Don't forget Carol Brady (Florence Henderson) doing her guest shot!
I was wondering who else got that 😂
I was going to mention that.
Exactly None of these younger folks have any idea who she is and that is why the line " I know Im a Million times as humble as tho art" is so damn funny
I think this was during the time T-shirts were going around with her face on them, and the words "Porn Queen". For some reason it gave her a short resurgence of fame.
She is from dale, Indiana which is about 15 miles from my town in Spencer county.
I like how he seamlessly works in the lyrics from the Gilligan's Island TV theme song, and they fit the song perfectly
This track was a MONSTER hit when it came out. Weird Al had already been a known name for years, but this kicked him up another level.
There was also a bit of drama because Coolio initially wasn't consulted and got a little upset when he heard about the track (he and Al became good friends later).
@MMuraseofSandvich Yeah, the studios were supposed to have cleared the permission, and told Al they did so, just for it to turn out they did not.
And Party in the CIA
"Tacky" just to show his influence in the comedic space, and "All About the Pentiums" for another great rap parody.
Not to mention one of his original songs, 'Hardware Store'.
Every rapper who listens to it loses their mind at The List.
"Like a Surgeon" parody of Madonna's "Like a Virgin" - hysterical. The guy is creative gold...
He even put the intro to Gilligan’s Island in there too!🤣🤣😂🤣
Weird al is honestly lyrically amazing. And hilarious.
I just find it hilarious that no one picks up the Gilligan's island reference
Not a single Luxury!
Same here NOONE who reacts to this song Catches that at all lol
Or the Buster Keaton reference (going through the window of the falling wall)
I saw one catch the Gilligan's Island reference. But don't remember who. I know they were young.
@@tobeski you beat me to it!
BP you should start doing 1 Weird Al every Friday, end the week with a laugh Would love to see reaction to Saga Begins 😂
That's a great idea!😀👍
Weird Al Wednesday?
Al is a genius and his parodies are instant classics. If you or your song were big enough that Al made a parody about it, you know you've made it!
So funny that as soon as he mentioned Mennonites then it popped up in the song...i dont think he even noticed
I'm in Ohio we see them in town too
It used to be that Amish did not use any form of electricity at all in the last 10 to 20 years most Amish have become more progressive.
Ok. So I must have seen Mennonites in a few airports then cause I was like “What is going on here?!” 😂😆
You blew over the fact that Florence Henderson, Carol Brady of the Brady Bunch, does a cameo in this.
I think he's too young to have been into the Brady Bunch.
He looks to be about the same age as my kids.
@@jessica_meigsThere is an official animated video for that song.
Weird Al is such an underrated singer, and musician.
There is no bad Weird Al Yankovic
Oh yes there is.... I Love Rocky Road, Ricky and Bedrock Anthem are FN awful
@@fredcasdensworldI actually like all of those songs
He made parodyan art form. He's so good there isn't another one like him. Regular people will do parody skits but noone has tried to be what Weird Al is to the entertainment world/industry doing what he does.
no, but there's Even Worse
I'd argue there are, in fact, bad Weird Al songs. Not very many, but I've heard a number that are just bad, such as Yoda. Also some of the stuff included in his polkas, which can be highly variable in quality even within the same song.
Smells Like Nirvana is a classic. The video was actually filmed in the same location as Smells Like Teen Spirit.
@@rubyslippers8215 Some things are healthier, some things are sicker. There's a huge problem with child sexual abuse in Amish communities.
I've not seen that. In fact amish get Medicaid and foodstamps. I seen them in local Dr's and hospitals. They're not cloistered. They run public businesses and shop where everyone else does. Their kids attend public school, if there's not their own, boys until 7th and girls til 5th or sixth.
The Saga Begins is another great one. It's a Star Wars Episode 1 parody sung to Don Mcalean's American Pie.
Weird Al is mad talented! He might make fun but in such brilliant ways. There's a few that's educational too!!! Bruh I'm here for any reaction to him!!! ❤❤❤
Weird Al is a genius at parody! Thanks for this reaction.
6:19 Most reactors miss the Gilligan’s Island song
And Carol Brady (Florence Henderson)
Yes. "No phone, no lights, no motor car, etc" is lifted directly from the Gilligan's Island theme song.
Love that you're doing Weird Al! This is one of my favorites. Also love that you're talking about health. This is a big interest of mine too. Love RFK Jr. and his push for a healthier food system.
Grew up in the middle of Amish Country, some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
Externally.
Internally they can be pretty vicious, especially to anyone that gets out of line.
You need to show this to your mate Joe who is the videographer, see what he makes of this film - it really is well shot
All about the Pentiums (all about the Benjamins), Fat (Bad) Smells Like Nirvana (smells like teen spirit) - are all worth a watch.
Love him
The Amish aren't as healthy as you'd expect. It's not like they get a lot of genetic diversity introduced into the population. They are known to have genetic disorders, metabolic, and nervous system, which are becoming more normal for them.
I think there is an association between autism and age of parents. Amish marry younger than the average American.
The most talented lyricist ever.
The Amish broke off from the Mennonites because it was felt the Mennonites were too premissive.
I've known some local Mennonites. They don't reject electricity - I've even seen them using the Internet.
They are over there wildin'...runnin' amuck and cussin' people out and going to public school.
Actually, Amish thought the Mennos were too strict. My how the tables turned!
@@ReleaseTheQuackers It was about "The Ban" (how to treat fallen believers). The Mennonites believed they should be denied communion but could share meals. The Amish said they should be avoided at all times.
Weird Al Yankovich is secretly one of the most talented musicians working today. There isn't a single genre he hasn't excelled in.
Not to mention I wouldn't listen to anything on Joe Rogan as anything resembling fact
You're absolutely right though, they keep their community so much that even those who are autistic are never going to get officially diagnosed
Also, is Pegasus implying that autism is a *bad* thing?
@@ARCtheCartoonMasterI wouldn’t say so much that he’s saying it’s a “bad thing”, moreso supporting pseudoscience that implies autism is something that’s other than genetic.

So many great tracks of him. "Perform this way", "Fat", and "Rocky Road" are musts. Also love the White Stripes styled "CNR". Would love to see some reactions to these. But I feel that we will see more of Weird Al on your channel anyways.
Weird Al is the GOAT. The original is probably one of the best song ever written and he just slayed it
Weird Al is talented and hilarious
One thing that always amazes me when seeing people react to this song is that no one has realized Al was able to work two lines from the opening theme to Gilligan's Island seamlessly into the lyrics.
So glad you are going down this rabbit hole.. Would have to recommend Confessions Part 3 next.. But you can't go wrong with any Weird Al
Also Christmas At Ground Zero
I love Dog Eat Dog... It's definitely a Talking Heads song, except it's not! It's an original just in the style of TH. Now that is talent, how was able to perfectly pick up the nuances of the band. Al is truly a genius.
Weird AL is awesome. He also always asked the bands if he could do a parody of their songs and if they said no, he wouldn't do one. He asked Metallica a few times and they always said no.
"No phones, no lights, no motor cars, not a single luxury" is a nod to the opening song of the old comedy TV show 'Gilligan's Island'.
the funny thing is, this parody is more popular and well known than the OG version
His “eBay” song means I can never hear the Backstreet Boys.
Check out his song "Living With A Hernia". Its hilarious. Its the version of James Brown's Living in America.
James himself taught Al the dance moves and the brass players in the video were James's band.
@justaguy6129 Oh really?🙂👍
Didn't MJ let Al use the set from Bad to film his Fat video?
I loved this as a kid, and I even felt the way you did about how great it would be to disconnect from society and technology.
would love for you to check out more Weird Al, so many great parody's, Eat it, Like a Surgeon, The Saga Begins, Another One Rides the Bus and much more
Love weird Al..Always brightens my day when i need a laugh. Can't wait to see him in June. Got tickets for my fiance and I. He's a big fan of Weird Al. It will be a blast.
"I know I'm a million times as humble as though art." That's still my favorite line in the song. It's a thinker. Wait just a minute and it'll hit. There it is. Brilliant!
The "little Am-lets" line is my favorite!
That's no thinker. It's as plain in the sight as possible. Everyone gets it in seconds. You cannot brag about being humble, that's a given.
It's literally a humble brag.
Reminds me of an earlier song by The Barron Knights: "Oh Lord it's hard to be humble, When you're perfect in every way. I can't wait to look in the mirror, 'Cause I get better looking each day."
I love Weird Al, he's had so many bangers throughout the years. This one is still my favorite:)
Since you mentioned the centerfold that brings to mind that you should really check out Centerfold by The J Geils Band. I guarantee you’ll add that to the playlist.
I'd love to see you react to Party in the CIA , Handy, and Hardware Store.

"Trapped In the Drive-thru". It's like 10 minutes long but you'll love it.
His wife in the video was Mrs. Brady from the Brady Bunch.
A couple of years ago there was an effort to have Weird Al to do the Super Bowl Halftime
Weird Al in an Illuminati Ritual? Oh now that is parody. What would then be next, the Olympics ceremony or opening of a CERN tunnel?

Werid Al is a fckn genius when it comes to parodies, he perfected the genre if that's a thing, Madonna and Michael Jackson were friends of his so it was easy to use their songs in the beginning....that was the mid 80s and it only got better from there. Great reaction. 40!
Like a Surgeon was actually Madonna's idea and her person got in touch with Al somehow and it is the first time he used someone else's idea and Al has blanket permission to parody any MJ song, except Black or White, and MJ gets cowriting credits lol
Al has said interviews that met MJ after he did the parodies and talked to Madonna for about 45 seconds.
Glad you reacted to this one I knew you would enjoy it LOL Another great reaction!
Let’s gooo! He’s got some bangers.
Many Amish especially in the Pennsylvania area have bed and breakfasts and people go relax for a week or so to unwind

Keep on the journey of Weird Al, so many great songs
Although they are definitely dark and twisted, why has no one recommended either "Christmas at Ground Zero" or "The Night Santa Went Crazy"
You'd've thunk the record company would have learned not to force Weird Al to do a Christmas tune after "Christmas at Ground Zero", but they demanded another.
Both of those are awesome! They are on our Christmas playlist every year! 😂
BP, hit his original song, Hardware Store. The breakdown RAP rivals EMINEM'S Rap God! 🔥🔥🔥 But... Do the lyric video! 🙏🏽
You could do his parody of Lose Yourself called Couch Potato. Fantastic song but Weird Al honored Eminem's request not to do a video.
ok as someone who has family that are Amish and has spent summers in Lancaster as a kid. let me just say you only want to visit because you haven't lived it. the line its hard work and sacrifice is 1000% correct. there is vary little time for anything fun. oh and bundling is the weirdest dating custom in the world.
These song he does are crazy, I don’t know how he comes up with them! It’s nuts!!🥜. He is a genius!!🔥🔥
Thanks BP!!❤❤
The lyrics in the middle of the song come from the Ballad of Gilligan's Island. (No phone, no lights, no motorcar, not a single luxury. Like Robinson Crusoe, it's primitive as can be.)
They are actually very nice people. I used to go to their communities and pick up antiques from them. One group was my favorite , the hook & eye Dutch . They made their own shoes, the laces half way up are called the hooks , the bottom holes the eyes.
I've said it before, but you haven't made it until wierd al asks to parody your song, amd he does always ask
Also many rare diseases due to the inbreeding and small population

Well put. Thank you. :)

I know that's a side note but sometimes these days I see people romanticizing the past like "50% infant mortality rate without modern medicine, lol what's that."
Going back to nature is 100% a great move, but maybe let's do it in a socially progressive way and not a radically conservative Christian way.
There is also A LOT of DV and SA in Amish communities and they blame the women and girls for it
@@ReleaseTheQuackers liking to raise awareness. I had no idea about this until I had a friend with Amish family members.
The original is actually Stevie Wonder's song Pastime Paradise.
