Love your videos, Marcia. Great, clear instruction. REQUEST: Would you consider making a video using a document camera. We are an art group and have hybrid meetings with speakers out of town who also are using a document camera to demonstrate techniques. Thank you for all you do - greatly appreciated.
I'm glad the video was helpful! I'm currently focusing on tutorials with the Mighty Networks platform. I hope you find other good resources for learning how to use a document camera.
Thanks for this. I've been trying to figure out how I can interview someone and have several other people "sit in" on it without showing their faces. I think I can use both of these features to at least turn off everyone's video so they just show as black squares.
You can mute everyone and not allow users to unmute. Does that do what you are looking for? support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203435537-Muting-unmuting-participants-in-a-meeting
Thank you! Clear and understandable! Is there a way to hide usernames in the meeting for privacy? I want to organize a meeting for people who are strangers to each other, and they don't want to be recognized by each other. On the other hand, as a host, I need to know who has participated in the meeting. Txs!

Thanks for providing your great information. My goal is to have all participants anonymous, with their Chat only visible to me and my Chat defaulting to visible only to a single addressee unless I elect to send a msg to "All". My video (as Host) can be visible, or not. I plan to share my desktop (outlined portion only). The purpose of this setup is to hold an auction with participant privacy with bids submitted by chat visible only to me as the host. Participants will be able to see the bids via my shared desktop. I don't want to spend $50 / month for the Webinar add-on for this occasional use for well under my Pro account limit of participants. Can do?
@@ChadlyCreativeConsulting Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your gratis help to the community! After further investigation, it looks like I can set my end to "hide participants with no video" (telling participants to leave their video off for privacy) and set the chat to operate between participants & host only. It looks like in this case there would be no video, no photo, & no name displayed to the other participants. I need to test this, but I can use the webinar functionality after all if what I described doesn't work. Your thoughts? Thanks, Terry
@@terryhunter1749 Setting up the chat in that way would work the way you are looking for. Hide Participants with No Video is a control that each person sets for themself. You as the host can't control that setting for all of the participants - only yourself.
Hello Marcia! So helpful and clear! But I must be missing something!! I'm a teacher who is recording my live teachings. I'd like myself to be the main focus, so that when students watch the recording they only see me. I tried turning the focus feature on, but it's not working. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!!
What is recorded varies depending on if you record to the cloud or your computer. There are also multiple recording settings in your Zoom account. My suggestion is to experiment with those options to see what works the best, You can set up test calls with yourself by joining from different devices. that's how I filmed this video.
I will be doing a Zoom meeting with 100 participants and I don't want there to be a gallery at all. In fact, I just participated in a zoom meeting where there was no visible gallery view and yet there were many people on the call. I didn't even see me. Do you know how this was done?
@@ChadlyCreativeConsulting I was unaware of Zoom Webinars. I have now researched this and, yes, you are right, the Zoom Webinar is the right tool for my need. Thanks.
Your videos are very well organized and useful! I want to do a conference with 4 speakers and 4 conference staff (including myself) there will be about 70 - 80 attendees. I plan to start the meeting in Focus Mode with a waiting room. I will enter the waiting room to spotlight my four speakers and the 3 staff so we can all see our videos. (Attendees will not be spotlighted). I will set the screen share for "all participants" and set chat to "allow everyone" to see that chat feed. Am I correct then in assuming that I and my four speakers will be able to share their PowerPoint presentations with all attendees and all attendees will be able to submit questions about the presentations via chat? Simply, will this approach work? Thanks. BTW I watched your video again (for the 4th time! 😀)and had another question. What is the difference between "spotlighting" a participant versus making them a "co-host" -- looks like they are kind of equivalent?
Thank you! My suggestion is to do a trial run with this idea - using multiple devices and maybe a few friends or family members. You'll get more comfortable with the controls and also find any potential issues.
@@ChadlyCreativeConsulting Thanks for the reply. I did do a trial run and will try another one before the event. I now think the way to proceed is to: 1) start the conference in focus mode and with everyone in a waiting room and with all video cameras and microphones disabled; 2) Attendees will be instructed to leave both disabled (so I should see a "black box" with their names for them; 3) speakers will be instructed to turn their video cameras and microphone on; 4) As soon as I see their faces I will spotlight them (which also makes them a co-host?); 5) finally, I will set the screen sharing to "all participants" and will set chat to "everyone" so attendees can submit questions to the speakers.
