Devo performing Girl U Want, live at The Observatory in Los Angeles, exclusively on Moshcam.
David Bowie dubbed them "the band of the future", Brian Eno produced their debut and everyone from Nirvana to Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine have covered them.
A contagious collision of New Wave punk, arty experimentalism and subversive politics, these music mavericks burst onto the world scene in the late '70s and turned pop music on its head forever with hits like 'Whip It', 'Girl U Want', 'Mongoloid' and 'Beautiful World'.
So when the chance to film these icons in action at The Observatory at Santa Ana, California came up earlier this year, we jumped at it. Needless to say, they didn't disappoint, delivering a spectacle jammed with hits old and new, gloriously oddball antics and their mental mascot, Booji Boy.
"The Mayan calendar was wrong," frontman Jerry Casale told the crowd on the night. "The world is not going to end this year so you're stuck with us for a long time."
We wouldn't have it any other way, Jerry.

Decades of life on rock'n'roll stages can deform your bodies...but I know bands or solo artists who are in a much much worse state. DEVO don't seem to be into hard drugs, otherwise they wouldn't look so "well-nourished" at this 2013 concert. Even Bowie was killed in the long run by the consequences of his stage life, in 2004 he suffered a nearly fatal heart attack at the age of 57 at an open air festival in North Germany + you could see already before, during his 2003 Berlin indoor concert, that he needed air conditioning on stage to be able to breathe properly. Don't forget that a guitarist + a drummer of DEVO are already dead. Bowie once spoke about tour life being "an awful routine" + we should be thankful to all these artists who do that often for decades, for the sake of US !
