I like to see the love for the venture X. I feel like Capital One always gets hate but in my opinion they are one of the best cards for international travel. Again especially that Capital One venture X and saver duo
I've used the Visa Infinite concierge a couple of times. The main benefit they provide is that they can make sample itinerary for a trip with recommended sights, experiences, and restaurants. It sounds kind of dumb but I used it for a trip to Maine and it really helped give me guidance on the trip and made the experience overall more enjoyable. You /can/ do that all yourself, but I think it was useful for finding lesser known sights and making sure you don't get overloaded with trip planning.
Had the Amex Platinum and the Venture X for 2 years. Had to outweigh the pros and cons, and what really worked for me. For $395 AF it was a no brainer to cancel the Platinum and keep the Venture X.
Hey Luke, just a quick tip…the CSP (which as you know is also primary CDW) includes protection in Ireland. When I went recently I found that in the fine print, and you can message Chase and they’ll email you a document that confirms you’re covered in Ireland and that’s the document the rental agencies need to see in order to waive their insurance requirements. So if you find yourself back in Ireland and wanting to drive, book it through the CSP and get the document from Chase and you’ll save a bunch of $. Or should I say € 😁
I swear you’re a mind reader….. I was just asking myself about my Venture X usage and how I need to leverage it more as my 2x catch all card. Thanks for always helping us see the value of the cards we have
Extremely helpful Luke, a lot of people just pay attention to the headliner benefits of the Venture X or any credit card, but the protections can be even more valuable if something does happen.

Nonetheless, I would still get the VX if I could WITH the sub of course, I would never product change to get it.
@@LukesPointsandMiles It's riddled with fees. I usually can't wait around for a $10 delivery + fees, so I do pick-up, and weird enough there is a pick-up fee of $5 😒☹. I could not believe it, so I am only getting at most $10 worth of goods.

No. It really depends on what you want to do with the points. There are several overlapping partners but I don’t really think any “one” set of points is more valuable since I like to transfer my points out more higher end flights.
I’ve only skimmed over the CSR benefits and from what I can remember they have baggage delay and the VX does not. Most are very similar or the same but the fact remains the csr is not a net zero card. It costs much more. The VX has a much lower or no effective annual fee.
Hi Luke! I have about 16 credit cards. I got denied for the VX twice. What do you suggest I do if I want this card. Already have plat and CSR. Looking to downgrade my CSR since im coming up on the 4 year mark for another bonus, and after my annual fee hits might close down my plat. Looking for a one stop shop to put all my spend on one card. Should I wait to all my inquiries fall off as well as wait a year or 2 ?
Hello Luke. I just got my VX approved yesterday. I had my CSP for over 4 years and product changed it to CFU. Do you think it will be a good idea if I sign up for CSP again and get that SUB? That way I’ll have the VX and CSP combo. Thank you 🎉
@@LukesPointsandMilesHello, sorry Luke to bother you again. I’m trying to book a flight on c1 portal but it doesn’t show up. It’s a connecting flight, google flights and chase portal shows the same flight. Any suggestions ? Thank you.
@@Codd23 not all portals will have every flight. Seems like you found one that is t offered by the engine that runs the cap1 portal. I would suggest booking the flight directly with the airlines if time is an issue.
Capital One has horrible customer service. There are a few no annual fee cards that offer the same 2X. At least three no annual fee cards offer more than 2X.
I wonder how you guys in the "CC Game" get around getting rejected due to high number of inquiries in your credit report. Have a >750 score, zero negatives, own home, no debt, very high income, no balances, about $250K in current CC credit lines, and yet got rejected by Wells Fargo for the free autograph due to "high number of inquiries". Seriously??
Luke, THANK YOU. I can't believe that nobody mentions it's a freakin Infinite card! My favorite perk of this card is using the National Executive status it gives through Visa Infinite. You can also status match from President's Circle to Executive Elite, but before we status matched we used this card to get Emerald Aisle access when renting cars for vacation. We always got upgrades and where we had the Emerald Aisle access, we went from a Corolla to a luxury car or premium SUV. Heck, we even got a Range Rover one time from booking a Corolla lol. I feel like renting cars is the biggest ripoff when booking a vacation, so having the CDW and top tier status with these companies makes that reservation so much better. Having the rental coverage saved us around $200 in Costa Rica when we rented from National because my in-laws rented from Avis and they paid $200 more than us due to needing insurance. That alone paid for most of the card cost. On top of using the $300 credit to book our hotel. It just makes sense.
To get Executive Elite do you just have to pay for a number of rentals equal to the difference between Executive and Executive Elite (13), or do you start from scratch (25) like you do with hotel status received from a card?
Note that you can only status match into Executive Elite one time (per drivers license number) for one year and then after that you have to qualify the regular way.
Great points. Often we don’t think about insurance or purchase protection until we need it. I bought 2 pairs of Nikes. Upon delivery, someone ripped open the package & stole 1 pair or was possibly lost in shipping. I used the purchase protection on my card & got refunded the full amount. No questions asked.
The upgraded travel insurance on the CSR is why I went with it over the CSP. When you factor in all the protections on the VX ,on top of everything else, it’s really hard to argue against how powerful it is!
@@newagain9964 depends on the person. That PP restaurant benefit can be clutch, the $300 travel credit can be used outside the portal and you get 1.5 CPP in the portal if that’s your thing. I’m sure the cap 1 portal is nice but I’d most likely have to use the travel credit on a rental. It is a PIA that I gotta pay extra for my wife to be an AU but it is what it is
I actually used the Venture x rental car coverage in Portugal, when I brought the car back there was a big long scratch along the side of it and they charged me something like 580 Euros to fix it, I put in a claim with Visa which unfortunately wasn't the easiest thing due to how specific they wanted the documents to be so I had to keep checking in with them but eventually they did pay for it!
I would have to say you mix the Capital One saver card with the venture X and you probably have one of the best travel duos. And I think for me at least I only use the cards for flights and I go economy and in doing so I've never had to pay full price for a flight internationally. If you start going business every time you'll maybe get to do that two or three times and then you have to wait a year or two to rack points back up but I only use it on flights I don't mind paying for hotels or Airbnb because it's not expensive and there you go
altho both CSR and VX are Visa Infinite cards, Chase actually is slightly better in coverage duration for the primary CDW. VX is Visa Infinite default so 15 consecutive days per rental period within US and 31 consecutive days outside the US. CSR and Ritz Carlton meanwhile is 31 consecutive days per rental period regardless of what country you travel to (except those countries purchase mandatory primary CDW).
That’s a very special use case tho. Fax is CSR is super niche card (bicycle rental discount. Lolz). Pro tip. If ur renting car THAT long. Get full coverage (w/liability)!
Great video. We got our VX in January. Just checked. We are paying AT&T $50/month for insurance for 4 phones. Not anymore. $600 savings on a $395 card. Instant subscribe. And yes, we pay our phone bill with Venture X.
Great video Luke! My dad's friend was almost 70 and got a DUI on a golf trip and ended up in the slammer for the night. I bet he wishes he had the VX that legal advice protection. lol
Buying 3rd party travel/trip insurance is waaay cheaper & easier than u think. And less bureaucracy hoops (and bizarre disqualifications) after u file claim. CSR👀
I’m not sure I’m going to agree with you. If I take 10 trips a year, im not sure I want to buy extra insurance when it’s available on premium travel cards I already have.
@@LukesPointsandMiles agreed. The Avg person is not taking 10 trips a year. Certainly not several pricey trips/yr. Just wanted to put that out there for 1-2 trips a year folk. Especially if skiing or the like. Medical coverage on travel cards is pretty light.
Trip delay makes it sound like if you’re delayed more than 6 hours for anything outside of your control you’re covered. You are not. If the delay isn’t specifically due to weather, aircraft mechanical failure, skyjacking, or strike it’s not a covered hazard. This doesn’t cover FAA ground stops, crew timeout, late arriving crew, catering delays, or general operation delays (ie, ground crew shortage). There’s a reason they can include this coverage for so cheap, if you read just the marketing material and don’t read the terms you’ll be left thinking it confers more protection than it actually does.
Uncle Luke! Thank you for the great breakdown of perks and benefits that are not really mentioned in other reviews! You know I would love to have it in my wallet, but…. I can’t even get the Quicksilver! lol. Thank you as always for a wonderful video!
My mentor uncle Luke! Do you know if we if we can “hack” the Amex once’s in the life welcome bonus rules by applying twice for the business Gold or Platinum (once with the SSN and once with the EIN) as we can do with the Ink Chase cards? Thanks by advance! 👊🏼
@UncleLuke, I need your wisdom. I’ve got the Amex Platinum and Gold duo along with the Capital VX and Savor One duo. I mostly fly domestic and get value from both duos. Which set would you put at the front of the wallet to earn more points this year?
Those pairs are very competitive but if you have both, you’re going to earn more on the Amex set up. Of course you’re also going to pay more in annual fees. They are Both big league duos.
Recently booked a trip to 🇨🇷 using the annual credit, I ended up only paying $88 with fees and taxes. Might not have been the best point redemption, but im still learning about travel redemptions.
We just returned from a week in Barbados. CDW waiver saved us money on the 5-day car rental. We had flight delays but American gave us 4 food vouchers and covered the hotel, so we didn't have to file for reimbursement this time.
I can’t do the venture x because the portal is powered by hopper but when I look at the hopper portal the hotel choices are horrible for the dates and it doesn’t show me the hotels I would want to stay at when I can book them straight from the hotel.
Do you have any data points about trip delay insurance when booking with points? This could just be my experience, but I flew Air France and missed my connecting flight due to flight delays and had to stay the night in Paris. I called Cap 1 and asked about trip delay insurance and they said I wasn't eligible since I had booked with points. I mentioned that I had paid the taxes and fees with the VX, but that didn't move the needle. I could just have gotten a customer service rep who didn't know the procedures. My wife and I got hotel and food vouchers from Air France, so it wasn't a total loss, which is why I didn't pursue it any further with Cap1.
Their cellphone protection is second to none! I submitted 2 claims this year and both were processed within 4 business days and money DEPOSITED into my account on the 5th day.
Hi, could you share more on your cases ? Like did you purchase your phone with your vx so you get the phone protection and they reimburse you? Or ? Thank you 😊
How do these protections compare against the Plat and the CSR though? I never really considered these benefits before and as a cardholder of the CSR and Plat, I really should know if they have any differences.
There are some differences. For this video though these are benefits of a net zero card. So that changes things. The plat and the car cost more money. The plat does not have primary cdw

I’ve only skimmed over the CSR benefits and from what I can remember they have baggage delay and the VX does not. Most are very similar or the same but the fact remains the csr is not a net zero card. It costs much more. The VX has a much lower or no effective annual fee.
Im annoyed with capital one. Using there pre approval tool I was pre approve and after submitting a full application I was denied....
Oh man. That’s a pain. I had to apply twice for the savor one.
@@LukesPointsandMiles how far apart did you wait to apply for the saver one the second time?
@@chrissan6015 30 days maybe. They told me to wait 6 months but I didn’t.
@@LukesPointsandMiles thanks for the data points!
It’s hard to understand Cap1. Do you have any Cap1 cards that you could upgrade into the VX?
@@LukesPointsandMiles Never tought about that!!!

YOu have to call them and ask@@SK8R729
Do you have to book a rental car through the Cap1 portal to get the CDW? Or can you use the rental company portal and just pay with the VX?
Directly with the rental company
We've booked cars twice directly with National and used the VX CDW. Just make sure to decline theirs at the desk when you pickup.
@@LukesPointsandMiles that's cool, status with car rentals can really help

Subbed !
Hello Luke. I just got my VX approved yesterday. I had my CSP for over 4 years and product changed it to CFU. Do you think it will be a good idea if I sign up for CSP again and get that SUB? That way I’ll have the VX and CSP combo. Thank you 🎉
Yeah I think I’d want the sub again for sure. I’m not a huge fan of the csp but it’s an easy way to get access to chase partners.

I wonder how you guys in the "CC Game" get around getting rejected due to high number of inquiries in your credit report. Seriously??
I’m at the point where I’m getting declined for cards. So it’s break time for me
Venture X is useless right now. No one can sign up for Priority Pass.
Not sure what you mean.
@@LukesPointsandMiles People could not sign up for Priority Pass. Took them more than one month to fix the problem.
@@Milburn_Pennybags priority pass is a completely different entity and company than capital one.
@@LukesPointsandMiles Everyone knows that. This was a well documented issue with both companies that took months to resolve.
Thanks for watching. You make some greats points!!
Wow that’s awesome. Thanks for sharing!!
Some no AF cards offer purchase protection, such as Freedom cards, Ink cards from Chase, many Amex cards, Venture One, some US Bank cards, Costco card
Because I’m FIRST!

Capital One & Venture X getting some ❤❤❤ Thanks for the info + video!
Thanks for watching, sir!!!
The upgraded travel insurance on the CSR is why I went with it over the CSP. When you factor in all the protections on the VX ,on top of everything else, it’s really hard to argue against how powerful it is!
It’s just a great value prop.
VX > CSR. By a country mile
@@newagain9964 I think they’re different products but I won’t disagree with this at all.
Success!!! Thanks for sharing
Helpful comment, thanks. I had a similar experience making an insurance claim with Visa.
Agreed. Payout can be a nightmare! 9 months before they finally made good on $300 claim for cancelled flight!
@@carlinrob visa infinite took 9 months to pay you?
I would have to say you mix the Capital One saver card with the venture X and you probably have one of the best travel duos.
And I think for me at least I only use the cards for flights and I go economy and in doing so I've never had to pay full price for a flight internationally. If you start going business every time you'll maybe get to do that two or three times and then you have to wait a year or two to rack points back up but I only use it on flights I don't mind paying for hotels or Airbnb because it's not expensive and there you go
@@Cryptid71 I like your style!
Am I covered by insurance if I purchased with my venture x card but not through venture x travel?
Yes
$300 credit? Does that mean you get the credit back when you buy from capital one travel portal or you can buy from any airline websites?
You get $300 within the portal
Even tho you’re correct. Almost everything you mentioned is the same for most credit cards. Even the free ones. Nice video tho
altho both CSR and VX are Visa Infinite cards, Chase actually is slightly better in coverage duration for the primary CDW. VX is Visa Infinite default so 15 consecutive days per rental period within US and 31 consecutive days outside the US. CSR and Ritz Carlton meanwhile is 31 consecutive days per rental period regardless of what country you travel to (except those countries purchase mandatory primary CDW).
I put the csr in a different category due to the fact that almost never AF neutral This video was about the value the VX provides
Good job, Reggie!!!
Great video Luke! My dad's friend was almost 70 and got a DUI on a golf trip and ended up in the slammer for the night. I bet he wishes he had the VX that legal advice protection. lol
Haha. Yeah might’ve at least gotten someone to go his bail. Haha
@@newagain9964 good point.
I’ve literally been thinking recently how I don’t think the Venture X is that good, so the title of this video really stood out to me!
I think it’s a really good card for a lot of folks.
10:03 this was not boring. It was 💯
Thank you!!

My mentor uncle Luke! Do you know if we if we can “hack” the Amex once’s in the life welcome bonus rules by applying twice for the business Gold or Platinum (once with the SSN and once with the EIN) as we can do with the Ink Chase cards?
Thanks by advance! 👊🏼
There are several offers that do not include life time language and most of the business cards are churnable
They are
Both big league duos.
Recently booked a trip to 🇨🇷 using the annual credit, I ended up only paying $88 with fees and taxes. Might not have been the best point redemption, but im still learning about travel redemptions.
Keep learning. Almost all redemptions are good ones!!! Some are just gooder.
As a family of 4( 2 adults and 2 kids) can qe all enter the centurion lounge with the Amex platinun??
No
Uncle Luke how about the US Bank Altitude Reserve? Seems like a reasonably affordable way to hold a visa infinite.
It’s ok. I think it’s a bit overrated at the moment but it’s a good cash back card for folks that travel I frequently
We just returned from a week in Barbados. CDW waiver saved us money on the 5-day car rental. We had flight delays but American gave us 4 food vouchers and covered the hotel, so we didn't have to file for reimbursement this time.
But you could’ve purchased things you needed and been reimbursed
Been denied 3 times in past 2 years for this card with a 820+ score. lol.. been wanting to pair this card with my savor one..
Yeah that’s just plain silly. Cap1 is in their own world
Would you still recommend the card if I can't meet the sign up bonus? I can still make use of travel credit and all. Would love your input.
This is one of two cards I would get even without the bonus. I didn’t get the bonus for this card. I did a product change.
Everything about the card is nice except it comes from Capital One.
Yeah. I can understand that.
I think Toro is excluded from Visa Infinite cards for coverage. They are not “true rental car services”.

This benefit is with visa so I would’ve called them
Ahhh, that makes sense. I thought it was through C1, not Visa. Thanks!!!! I'll do that next time
Their cellphone protection is second to none!

There are detailed article written comparing the 3 cards.
