  • The Capital One Venture X came onto the scene in November of 2021. And since then it has been a big success. And with its low annual fee, travel credit, and lounge access, it has a lot to offer. But does it still make sense? The Venture X has lost two of its perks, with a third one set to expire at the end of this year. Is it still worth it? Let's find out!

    Are you planning to keep your Capital One Venture X? Or is it time for a change?

    I've had the Venture X for a few months now and already used the $300 travel credit. You're right about dropping the Hertz Presidents Circle. It's a bummer, but not a game changer. The 2% makes this a good catch-all card. If they can add a good Hotel partner like Marriott, Hyatt or IHG, that would really separate this card from others.

      That would be awesome! I good hotel partner is what the card is missing.

    Capital One has only taken things away from us since they released the card. I don't like the way that is heading. I still plan to keep the card, but definitely have to rethink it every year.

      True. The current trajectory doesn't look great. I would like to see Capital One add a benefit or two somewhere in the near future.

      Which cards have gotten better since their launch ?

      @@WealthOfOpportunityCaveat, I haven't been in this CC space long enough. But some cards have had benefits added with or without an AF increase.
      Amex Plat, Gold, Blue Cash Everyday, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Freedom (Flex), IHG Premier
      Citi Premier is another example of a card that has gotten nerfed (removal of travel/purchase protection).

    My understanding is that you can pay in full in CO travel portal and later go back and apply the travel credit. This way you can get the full miles. At least that is what I have heard.

    For the travel credit that applies before check out, won’t that be equal or even better than a statement credit because you save about 10% in taxes?

    Are you going for platinum on delta status for next year? Wanting to see if you can talk about chasing status

    • @Spend.Earn.Travel.
      @Spend.Earn.Travel.  4 місяці тому +1

      I think for this year, i'll stick with Delta Gold Status. I don't have that many trips planned this year. Maybe next year!!
      I am thinking about making a video talking about how to get status with credit cards for airlines and hotels!

    There was a window for gamers to get the CAP1X, as it was free advertisement for the card. Heck yeah, I would of loved to of gotten approved for the CAP1X , not just for the fact the effective af is so low, but as a flex also, lol. Unfortunately I got denied, and don't want to product change, I deserved that sub. It did push me to double to down on Chase by product changing to the CSR. You're right I don't see these small changes as anything that take much away from the VentureX, I would still love to have the card. I also the pressure CAP1X put on the other issuers. Amex added Hertz presidential circle to it's premium cards, and I believe the CAP1X derailed the Citi's Estrata development. CAP1X is definitely making sure the CSR's travel credit remain as flexible as possible, and to Chase's credit, that's probably why the CSR has gained a little more traction within the last year or so.

    I have considered getting the Venture X, but I can't easily use their transfer partners at this time. I don't want to have to figure out how to use some international airlines to fly from HI to CA.
