Subnautica is way scarier and more atmospheric but Below Zero does ALMOST everything better. And it has the Ice Worm so that ads extra points.
I didn't understand what was the point of the Ice Worm ... Tho i did explore land after i got the prawn, so i just kinda never paid attention to the worm and walked past it. Same for the hover bike thing, so much slower then the prawn. Just the whole 'on land' bit was a very clunky mess of a slog. Also, the SeaTruck *SUX* (even with the speed upgrade and afterburner), i missed the Seamoth so badly.
Idk ... While BZ was very beautiful and its optimization was so much better then the original, as a whole i found the game quite disappointing. Especially in the story department.

Sams plot abruptly ends. Marguerit ... well, i'm not sure what the point of her character was. It's hinted she'ed play a larger role in the story, but no. Alan's plot was the only one that kinda played out cohesively. So after finishing the game, i had to check why the story was this jumbled. Turns out the game swapped writers halfway through. I watched an older version of the story, and the pacing is *significantly* better. More interesting too, tho i suppose that's subjective.
Seems like the new writer was limited to working with what was already finished, so they cut out a *bunch* of stuff, and ended up with this amalgamation. Also, shame they changed Robins VA, the old one was much better ...
The ice worm broke for me and attacked me but I didn’t get hurt. I was in survival mode too. It just clipped through me
I really like your insight into all these game design aspects, feels very enlightening to watch your videos.
Going anywhere doesn't mean you have to be able to do it instantly. Metroidvanias are often a good example. you can have a huge open world AFTER you unlocked the abilities to traverse it.
Subnautica basically does this aswell and it kind of baffles me that more developers see how well the synergies between these systems are.

Great video. I loved the first Subnautica. Below Zero feels like a better version with a bunch of life-improvements. Congratulations on the steam release for patch quest!

I personally think the original Subnautica is much better than BZ due to its desolation making you feel mostly helpless at first. It also has different vehicles with different limitations and uses that are each more of a challenge to get.

Dear developer, your game is amazing. And i would Like to give you my opinion - the camera is Too zoomed out, i might be odd one, but thats why i would reccomend you to make a zoom slider, so player can pick camera zoom wich they like

This sounds really cool, like you collect eggs and when you put the eggs on the tiles at your base, depends on which tile you put it on and which plants are on the tile, you'll get different animals

while subnautica below zero is good, the first game is better in my eyes. there are a lot of video assays about this very topic and they also seem to agree there.
however taste is different and if people like below zero more ok.

I just want to help with a suggestion, but i really think you should put a unique name in your channel apart of your game, please don't look at this the wrong way, I just think it is better when you will post videos like this, saying about others subjects/games, so you have a channel name with a unique personality that describes you; understand?
