Some of those weren't salty and were just wanting fair comparisons. Even this video had some bad comparisons. Would you compare Dr. Shawn Baker to Dr. Michael Gregor? They are close to the same age. Actually, Baker is older. I wouldn't compare them because one likes to body build on the side and the other just gets in his cardio. That is why Saladino was a bad comparison as he isn't a body builder. Baker was also a bad comparison because he is like 26 years older than the vegan. Personally, I think either diet can work for a person. For me what seems to be working is eating a low fat whole food plant based vegan diet.
@@myrhev I think the point was to dispel the myth about vegans being small and can’t build muscle. It wasn’t a comparison of the diets efficacy. But a social experiment almost to enlighten people
@@myrhev You are correct, it's not apples/apples to compare Saladino to a bodybuilder. But Saladino and Baker claim vegan diets are deficient & that vegans look terrible, among countless other BS non-scientifically-supported assertions. So if you're going to outright lie, then all's fair, no? Carnivore diet = weight loss benefits only, which of course also applies to WFPB. But no, I'm sorry... Either diet does NOT work long term, as many are discovering. Having been a very dedicated low-carber (with various bouts of pure carnivore) for 8 years (2001-2009), I can attest that carnivore, like smoking, feels great until about 4-8 years (depending on age, younger bodies can take abuse much longer) and then problems start to arise. At the end of the day, it's 100% proven that meat consumption correlates with earlier ACM on a 1:1 sliding scale. @@terryjackson9395 I do agree that Baker comes off as a butt. He often compares himself to people like Dr. Gregor. While they both my be on opposite sides of the fence nutritionally, and both are doctors, the comparison isn't fair. Mainly because Gregor doesn't lift. He appears to do cardio only. I am glad that you mention Plant Chompers. He is a great guy and probably the most level headed and nice guy I have seen on the vegan side of the fence. The worst thing I have seen him do is reference some studies that were a bit dubious, but they were the studies he was talking about, so not a lot he could do there as he didn't run the studies. I have done every side of things. I ate everything until 18 or so. At 18 I went veggie, then at times vegan. Sadly it was more junkfood vegan than WFPB, but this was like 30 years ago almost. Later I did low carb and lost a ton of weight. The problem with that though is if you ever so much as dip your toe back into carbs, you gain all the weight back. In the last few years I have done keto and carnivore for a while. They both caused medical issues for me (edema), though nobody knew why. It really beat me down so I just gave up and ate whatever. Several months ago I decided to give things one last try and have went vegan again, though this time WFPB. Before I was hungry all the time. This time I have jacked up the level of beans and reduced the level of grains. Been doing well and weight has been falling off of me. Good luck to you as well on your dietary journy.
YES - more of this! 🔥🔥 The combination of showing their reactions and reading the comments from haters coping haaard - love it! 😆Isn't it funny how people always fail to take ratio into consideration? You always have to factor in how many are competing, this basic stuff. Usually it is like 1:100 "How many vegans are at the top?" 🙄 Now imagine IF one of two vegans were to dominate.. Like, idk... Tennis? Formula one? And some insane endurance sports... 🦗🦗🦗🤷♂ Oh, also are you going to respond to Tanner Shuck's latest video? I had never heard of him before and thought he was joking and was waiting for him to drop the act.. 😅 Hench did a great job, but the more the better! 💪
I think it would have been neat to ask them to guess the ages, as well. I know there a lot of surprised people in the comments whenever Derek mentions his age in a video.
People who say it’s hard to get your daily amount scoff at taking supplements but would take supplements if their doctor said to. Like just take a daily vitamin with 1-2x your daily amount every day and just know that you are at least doing something to help your health. Like I had been vegan a couple years and had low b6 so I took the b6 supplements from the doctor, got back to normal and have taken a daily vitamin now for a while. I had blood tests for adhd a while back and my bloods came back fine. Just goes to show you should check your macros.
I think it would be great if you took someone under your wing that wants to go vegan and also bulk up. Do some before and after weight, size and blood measurements and document it all for like 6 months, how they feel, what they are learning about protein and macros, etc.
Vegans are literally 1% of the population and out of that 1% there are even fewer vegan gym rats and even fewer vegan gym rats who have a goal to go to mr. olyimpia, if there are any at all. 👨🏽🏫 I am a vegan and i know only a few vegans in real life, and i don't know any pro bodybuilders in real life be it vegan or not, so, do you even know then, how a small chance there is that these two worlds intersect. And i'm sure there will be vegans at mr. olympia in the future. 👨🏽🏫🌱💪
Veganism is growing, and the numbers of people having issues with a 100% plant based diet in alignment with it, are rising as well. Unfortunately, vegans want to dismiss all the people struggling on a 100% plant based diet as anectdotal, and say it was 100% an error on the individuals behalf every single time. Instead of even entertaining the possibility that it could have something to do with the diet not being as tolerated by some. Vegans want to believe that halting millions of years of eating patters to live in alignment with a principality thats less than 100 years old, will have zero issues for any of the billions of humans living on this earth. Reducing harm as far as practical and possible is not a one size fits all, not everyone is capable of the same thing/
People are omnivores naturally. I do think either diet can work, but you have to be careful and check your bloodwork. As for people having problems on a plant based diet, one thing I look at is allergies. I was tested and found to be allergic to milk and shellfish. I have a family member allergic to nightshades. Everyone knows someone with a peanut allergy. That is the thing though, there are a lot more plants to be allergic to than animals. People really need to try to get tested if they can afford it.
I do hate how people say I am skinny because I’m vegan, no I’m skinny because I’m skinny. I’ve been skinny my whole life. I don’t do muscle exercises and don’t over eat to the max. I reduce my intake when I start to get fat and eat more when I feel too skinny. I like being slender as I don’t want too much weight on me. I am also just under 7ft which means my arms look skinny pretty much whatever I do as they are so long
A bit controversial but I totally believe there are circumstances that can make it hard to meet protein goals at least temporarily as a vegan. Im currently breastfeeding my first and he had really bad gerd (reflux) while I was eating soy or any concentrated pea/bean protein (protein powder I had and fake meat products). I also have an overabundance of breast milk that seems to get worse if I eat too much fiber (over 35g/day). I had a rough first trimester and did not gain a ton of weight while pregnant (baby was healthy 7lbs 2oz) so I was back to my pre pregnancy weight by 4 weeks postpartum (fairly sedentary 4 weeks post emergency c section .. Baby breech). Ive made a few modifications to my diet to ensure my body is not pilfering protein from muscle for breast milk and so I can regain strength working out. I don't see these changes as permanent but likely to persist until I'm done nursing or baby's digestion becomes more robust as we introduce solid foods.
Yep.. Definitely more of this please 🙏 You could ask, once they realise they can thrive on plant based diet, why they're not vegan.. Then dispel their myths one by one 🤙😁
Loving the video, but I have to ask: What do you use to keep the ringlets in your hair looking good? Question coming from a fellow (wavy) long-haired vegan man who needs some pointers lol
do you get constipation if you dont eat in the early hours of the day when its super cold outside like youre too cold to be able to pass anything im concerned that what im experiencing isnt normal if anyone knows im gonna text my doctor if nobody here can help i just dont wanna waste his time for something stupid if its normal
My brother had that happen. He was pure WFPB but wasn't getting enough calories. Plug your diet into Cronometer for 1 average day... If not getting enough calories add a handful of walnuts to the day (1/4 cup walnuts = 200 cal), then do some light exercise to work off the cal. Eating too few calories your metabolism slows down to conserve energy... hence constipation. High protein without fiber and fluids can cause constipation, so if you're doing protein powder, let up on it a bit. Unless you're a bodybuilder, nobody needs more than 75g protein per day. I've been vegan 15 years and stopped protein powders 10 years ago (protein/methionine increased aging, see wikipedia page on methionine). I do supplement creatine on workout days. Eat some beans or lentils every day. I've personally found it's 100% impossible to be constipated with beans and fruit in a diet. I also eat a kiwi before bed for slow-release vitamin C, fiber and fluids throughout the night. Are you on any meds? Most meds, especially pain killers and/or anxiety meds like xanax will cause bad constipation (the slow metabolism thing again).... This includes cannabis. Good luck, let me know if any of it helps 💩💩💩👍🐄🐷🐔💛
Their are ectomorph body type people that eat meat rather from farms or grocery store and still be lean but you won’t see their an muscles so they have to stay exercising to be lean to wear all that meat eating off. Ectomorph people that eat just starch and trot rolls corn chips and veggies will have a lean shredded body added to their running and all around exercises.
When you were first talking about having people guess which is vegan/carnivore I thought you were talking about food, not people. Maybe something like that can be next?
I get what you are saying but man, if you can eat 100g of spirulina at once you are a better man than I. I put a scoop or two in my smoothie and that is all she wrote.

Haha, I've been vegan for nearly 30yrs and haven't eaten meat for nearly 32 years. And I remember the first time I decided to not eat meat for a couple of weeks I honestly wasn't sure if I would make it, or perhaps would look like those starving people I saw on TV during the "Band aid" years in the late 80's. Such was all the info I got from adverts and media and the government etc. Funny thing was after two weeks nothing happened, I looked just the same, was the same weight and felt great! It was then that the penny dropped and I realised I'd been lied to all my life. Its not peoples fault. They just have nearly no chance in our society to think anything else as we're bombarded by adverts and industry PR 24/7 .
People don’t even notice the fact that even wild animals who are herbivores are also the biggest ones. Out of all our ape families, the gorilla is the biggest and strongest and they are herbivores! In fact, bears are the largest predators on land. But elephants, rhinos, bulls, bisons, hippos, and buffaloes are herbivores and the biggest animals on land. By the way, your video is now being placed with meat and dairy propaganda ads. 🤪 incredible! They want to brainwash every one. Great Job mate!
That misinformed teacher comment really hits, I have a family member with an autoimmune desease, their misinformed doctor told them to eat more cheese 🤦♂It's quite worrying that as a person with no formal education, I proabbly know more dietary knowleadge then the advarage doctor, and i would say i just know some basic fundamentals, real simple stuff, it should't be like that but healthy people don't bring in money to some industries.
Not cool pairing a waif like saladino against a professional bodybuilder. You're worse than that news article that made Moby the vegan bodybuilder representative.
That isn't a totally fair comparison I agree, but they are both mid/late 40's so at least the ages are fair. I had more of an issue with the second comparison as Shawn Baker is 56 years old and the other guy is like 30. Twenty six years is a lot more telling on body than beef vs beans.
You mean how all the carnivore influencers do the same thing comparing Shawn baker to dr.Gregor when they’re are vegan athletes with fair comparison to Shawn baker but oh you don’t see them do that
@@jeovanniperez3949 Shawn Baker is a doctor. He isn't a professional athlete. He is also 56 years old. Comparing him to a guy that is 30 and an athlete isn't remotely the same. Baker vs Gregor also isn't a great comparison because Gregor apparently doesn't do strength training and only does cardio. A good comparison for Baker would be that Canadian vegan dude that is pretty buff but does recipes and "what I eat in a day" stuff, even though he is also like 20 years younger than Baker.
At least you acknowledge that there is no way to do some of these in a fair way. I think the best diet is predominantly plant based omnivore, granted Vegan/plant based is obviously up there as well and isn't really a disadvantage, unless ofc you're cutting to get on a stage naturally.
I would have answered how could I know? Protein is pretty easy to get on both diets if one has some knowledge and why would one need meat for muscles let alone protein? I heard about vegan strongmen anyway but just my knowledge about protein and veganism would have been enough to save me from huge surprise. I did read a lot about veganism and nutrition in my life... I do my best to stay pretty close to carnivore myself as non-animal carbs aren't good for me in more than tiny amounts but it's me. I barely ever ate meat for decades, it's not like they contain anything one can't get from elsewhere but I did eat plenty of complete animal proteins, I only was a vegetarian, never a vegan. That is trickier and doesn't suit everyone. Just like carnivore isn't even for every ketoers let alone other people... Most people who do it can't handle plants well, they make them sick, I have heard. (I am not like that but it's still way better for me to avoid plants to a great extent.) But most people are omnivores, carnivores are still pretty rare. Health is another thing (well if one wants a great body, it won't work on some poor diet, high protein or not) but that's very individual too. I don't have the extreme bias I see from ketoers and carnivores. Sometimes I feel the need to protect vegans - or just people who eat a big salad(!). Some ketoers consider them silly ones who don't have any idea how to eat (most ketoers I know love vegs but some are just... ugh). Both low-carbers and vegans (well there is a subset too... there are even vegan ketoers, wow, that must be hardcore) are people so some are stupid, some are hateful or arrogant but some are knowledgeable and a great person, doing what works for them. People often think their diet is the Only Right Way, well, nope. We are different and may need very different diets.
The Chris Moore vs Shawn Baker is basically a shit post comparison. One guy is in his 50's and like half a foot taller than the other lmao. He's also considerably stronger.

It´s interesting to note that there are no strict carnivore bodybuilders or athletes.
What are you tallking about?
Venus williams, Kyrie Irving, Rich Roll, Colin Kepernick, Nate & Nick Diaz, James Wilks, Novak Djokovic Carl Lewis, Scott Jurek, Clarence Kennedy, Bernarr MacFadden, Eustace Miles Mike tyson, Alex Morgan, Alexander Dargatz, Billy Simmonds, Bill Pearl, Roy Hilligenn, Bill Walton, Killer Kowalski, Martina Navratilova, Patrik Baboumian, Abel Trujillo, Barny du Plessis, Bradie Crandall, Joel Kirkilis...
.............Oh wait 🤭
Loved this. Also loved the salty meat eaters in the comments mad that there are vegans with muscle
It’s too funny 😂
Plant Chompers channel has a great 3-part series on lifespans of diet influencers going back 100+ years. That channel is superb with meticulous research behind every video: Well worth subscribing to if you haven't already. Peace & God bless.
Yes do more!!
That fun! Ask where do you get calcium from or of course where do you get your protein
Oh, also are you going to respond to Tanner Shuck's latest video? I had never heard of him before and thought he was joking and was waiting for him to drop the act.. 😅 Hench did a great job, but the more the better! 💪
I think it would have been neat to ask them to guess the ages, as well. I know there a lot of surprised people in the comments whenever Derek mentions his age in a video.
That’s a great idea!
My gut just can’t do tons of veggies and fruit. Plants are also murder on my arthritis. But hey to each his own. You do you brother.
Wow 😁 great video.
Thank you for your vegan activism. Your skin is gorgeous now too.
More, please.
Fun video!
I am a vegan and i know only a few vegans in real life, and i don't know any pro bodybuilders in real life be it vegan or not, so, do you even know then, how a small chance there is that these two worlds intersect. And i'm sure there will be vegans at mr. olympia in the future. 👨🏽🏫🌱💪
Exactly 👏🏼
Hello !
Could you post a video to show us how much you train ? I am really curious what amount of effort it takes to build such a physique !
Best !

Love this video. Vegan power all the way 💪
Great video
Yes vegans choose ethics over health and throw ex vegans under the bus, it's disgraceful
I am also just under 7ft which means my arms look skinny pretty much whatever I do as they are so long
Brian.. this video is fucking gold
Haha thank you man 😅😂
A bit controversial but I totally believe there are circumstances that can make it hard to meet protein goals at least temporarily as a vegan.
Yep.. Definitely more of this please 🙏
You could ask, once they realise they can thrive on plant based diet, why they're not vegan.. Then dispel their myths one by one 🤙😁
Love it!! 😆🌱✌🏽
Thank you! Haha I wanna do more
Hey bro what food do you eat for muscle building that don’t cause acne for me a lot of the foods that helps you gain muscle causes me acne
Loving the video, but I have to ask: What do you use to keep the ringlets in your hair looking good? Question coming from a fellow (wavy) long-haired vegan man who needs some pointers lol
Awww thank you for the love, I use the curly girl method
@@BrianTurnerOfficial I'll check it out, thank you!
Real talk, where did you get those floral pants? Haha
I really liked this video
Luv the pants! Veganthe least we can do
do you get constipation if you dont eat in the early hours of the day when its super cold outside like youre too cold to be able to pass anything im concerned that what im experiencing isnt normal if anyone knows im gonna text my doctor if nobody here can help i just dont wanna waste his time for something stupid if its normal
Ask chatgtp a few times to see what answers it gives ya
Happy bday fellow 23rd septembrian
I need that teeth routine.
Keep spreading the good word my friend. Every video is hopefully a couple of animals saved.
Maybe something like that can be next?
spirlina 69g protein per 100g with magnesium iron iodine and several other macro nutrients. tell me what animal i can get that from please? u cant
I get what you are saying but man, if you can eat 100g of spirulina at once you are a better man than I. I put a scoop or two in my smoothie and that is all she wrote.
Spirulina has its problems though.
1. Its taste ruins smoothies
2. It has B12 analogues that prevent real B12 from absorbing correctly.
@@myrhev i hear ya but 35g each of chlorella/spirulina and uv got enough macros to be going on with. mix with oats and raisins and its palletable. chuck some hazelnuts and uv got ur biotin quota for the day too. just saying that 19g of protein for 100g of beef its hardly compareable
7 years vegan. I can now gain muscle easily now for some reason working out only 2 days a week???? 63 yrs
Are you more interested in veganism because of health, or things like environment or animals ?
Best thing is, it’s great for all 3. So no need to choose
I love this.
You should’ve put in some skinny meat eater dudes too. But this was a fun video.
@@myrhev he’s a fake doctor who sells pharmaceutical supplements and plant based supplements to
I'm genuinely happy everyone is taking this comment seriously because saladino really is a waif and these replies prove it@@jeovanniperez3949
Yeeesss!!! 💪🏿
Thx:)
Amazing
Let's gooo 😂 operation troll meat eaters is in full effect 🌱
The Chris Moore vs Shawn Baker is basically a shit post comparison. One guy is in his 50's and like half a foot taller than the other lmao. He's also considerably stronger.
Veganism does need some out of the box thinking. Stuff that makes people think without shame or judgement
