I'm a chiropterologist. As far as I know, bats in Italy are protected by Italian Law since 1939. The best way to solve the "bat problem" is to ask a local chiropterologist for help. From my point of view, it's nothing to be scared about, they are insectivores and very useful. Most of people don't even know that they live with bats in their neighborhood :) We have to share our planet with all the creatures so my advice is to love your small neighbor 🦇☺
We do love them but not inside the house, sleeping with them in is no fun. I think that as soon as we start living there, they'll not stay inside anymore. We want to build a bat house 🏠 so they can feel welcomed and have their place!🤎
@@wegrowild Local chiropterologist will help you and show how to get rid of them from inside house. There are few methods that are safe both for you and bats.
@@Anelllka85 oh thank you 🙏🏼
In Portugal bats are also protected. The more you know about bats, the more you will love them, believe me. But let me tell you this: protect your man, because he is gorgeous and very hard working. A rare combination. You are a very, very sweet couple and the house is turning so great! Lot's of love from Lisbon ❤❤❤❤
Ohhh Micke can make a little house for them! 🪚🛠😍 As soon as your windows are on place, they will not fly inside any more, at least not easily! 😉 Wish you all luck with your pine-smelling home!! 🏠🏔☀️❤️
It's so nice to see Micke working so passionately 😊
Rewatching on youtube because you deserve billion views
Hahahaha love you🤎🙏🏼thank you for your wonderful support 🤎
Oh my, the adventure continues! Keep your humor and your spirits up. I’m amazed at how much back breaking work you put in and still have to do. 😮 But you will succeed 😊❤. Hope your well diggers come soon!
You are both so lovely. You remind me of myself and my husband. Although our friends thought that we were crazy, we both new how much that we loved our farm. Now we are elderly and in our seventies. But we still love here so much. It is like a sanctuary. Your home will be blessed because of all of love you are giving to it and each other. Our kindest regards from middle England. Annie and Tony. I also love knitting and making things. Cooking from the hedgerow. I have been making calendula oil and also to make some rosehip syrup 🌞🌞🌞
In Latvia, bats are protected and must not be caught and moved, as if they disappear from their home during the period from August to April, this is in the Baltic Sea climate. But my acquaintances have bats living in a country house, which is like a summer house, and they are crazy, they make noise, and they stink. And during the summer they double in number, as one female gives birth to one baby. crazy! I would introduce a cat to work there🤭......I hope Latvian nature guards don't read this:D
looove these videos
I am really enjoying going along with you on this journey 😊
Thank you for your support 🤎
bats are nocturnal animals. In many cultures it is considered very lucky to have bats in your house
That's It! Dress Micke Up As Batman And Have Him Run Around In The Dark! That's How You Get The Bats Out! Sadly Micke Looks Exhausted, Maybe Next Week He Can Do It 😂🥰 Love To You Both, And The Fur Babies.
Poor Micke haha 🙈🦇
It's so cute!!
I think this woman's voice is very good. Is there anyone who shares my thoughts?
I can share it with you my friend :)
Don't be afraid. It's just a bat, a tiny animal with wings. Just like a bird, but a mammal. It hides there during the day, because it's a nocturnal animal. You can give the bats a different place to hide, somewhat away from your house.
Beautiful old machine, that band saw! The fifties, in those days things were made to last forever. Your machine is almost my age (I'm born in 1956). 😘
Yes, I love it too. It really speaks about the quality from the old days. Weighing in at almost 200 kg, every piece except the wooden blade protection is made in steel or cast iron, even the small wheels underneath. It took quite some scrubbing to remove all the rust, to get all the parts moving again. Then I also spent put some time to flatten the saw table that had gotten a bit bent over the years. Now it feels like new again :D
Call a professional! That's what I would do. Anyway, I do enjoy sharing this adventure with you, it's huge! And it is a beautiful house on beautiful land. Wishing you both great success. I love how the pups kind of just sit around and watch!
I found your channel because of your knitting content, but I am really enjoying following this journey as well!
Also, I'm a weird one that finds bats adorable and treasure them, but I understand it can be really scary with the amount of bats you seem to get around your house 👀
I think they're super cute but not when they're many🙈I'm sure they'll naturally go away once we start to live in the house🙏🏼
What a clever solution for the road. I’m interested to see if it makes a difference the next time you guys get a lot of rain. So much work you both are doing!
The bat is so cute😊
Haha lets agree to disagree :) Now I'm looking at it again! You can see it so clearly in the video! The puny eyes and the screeching sounds they make. AAAAAAAAh
This house will be so beautiful 🤩 amazing view and the sensation of peace, can feel all the love ❤️ you are putting into it .
The world is realy small. The bandsaw is from Stuttgart (Bad Cannstatt ) in Germany. My neighbourhood .
So funny
Really? How interesting!!! Love that🤎
Enjoyed the episode Martina. Good luck with the bats.
Shame we had a similar type of problem with rats they got into the house between the ceiling and roof sheeting (luckily only into the roof and not into the house itself). It took us about two weeks to make sure that every spot outside around the house is secured where they climbed up on the house walls to get to the roof. The last place was the gutters. We had to cut pieces of wire to secure over the ends of the gutters so that they can not go up and we can remove to clean all the leaves that come down with the rain water. In about two days all the rats were gone as they could get off the roof but not back into the roof. Its been a few years, and still rat free. It seems as soon as it gets difficult for them to get where they want to go, they move 👏🏻
💜💜💜
Thanks for sharing. I personally find it so interesting to start things from scratch and to see all the things that can happen on the way.
What a beautiful home you are making together. ❤
I live in the US and here bats carry rabies. I don't know if it's the same in Italy but please be careful guys! I love your content..ALL OF IT (from knitting to the Off-grid videos).
Oh, I don't know I'd they carry rabies here too but I hope they'll just dissappear once we start living there🙏🏼
Micke seems to lose a bit of weight! He’s such a lovely and hardworking gentleman 😊. You both truly are amazing ❤
Hope you find a way to get rid of the bats, and be able to sleep peacefully in your home.
🤍
Oh my goodness you guys work so hard at everything you do, it’s so wonderful that you are sharing your journey with us.
Hopefully the bats will move quickly and then stick around to eat the insects.
🍀
Martina forse devi prenderti un gatto e farlo salire sul tetto… poi si arrangia lui con i pipistrelli ! Bravo Mike si è meritato un altra pizza👏🏻
the bats eat mosquitos......
I have been watching your incredible journey. Bats in America have rabies, they like hair and will try and nest in it. Be careful, you don’t want to be bit by one here in the USA its required you get rabies vaccines for 10 days if you have been bit or you will die. They keep the animal too and if its symptoms show up the euthanize them if they don’t show up they release it.
I have a question please. How does it work in Italy? How do you know an owner isnt watching you and when you are done come to you with ownership papers and say thank you now leave please this is my home. Obviously he’d have a case but so would you. Sweat tears joy and hard work all rolled up into TIME and MONEY. Its beautiful and so amazing. I’m just so very curious. Homesteading is whats this is called in America. Rarely does it occur i these days and times. Realestate is worth too much here, people don’t leave amazing and solid sound good structures like that that . At least I am unaware of people who ave done that here. I’ve moved all over the US and currently live in Texas my husband went to Arizona for a new job, but I’m not moving or buying a second house until the interest rates drop. They have to or housing will lose value. So we will buy a second home and rent this one out. This was going to be our forever home. Things change. He is coming home for our grandsons birthday party this weekend.
Thank you for all the info on the bats. We're careful and respectful, I'm sure there are different species of bats around the world and these seem quite harmless.
I didn't really understand your question so I'm not sure I can give you a good answer. But this house is ours, we bought it from the previous owners and all the paper work is legally sound and confirmed by the municipality. In Italy there are many houses like this that are being sold daily.
Hopefully this clarify your questions 🤎
@@wegrowild yes thank you. Thats incredible. Do you have a Realestate agent you could recommend? I thought you guys found the house on your own? I’m very interested in looking into homes and prices of a home in the country like that. AI’d rather live near the ocean,. We used to live aboard my husband 40 ft sail boat when we first met. We docked in Huntington Harbor in L.A. on the border with Orange County. Any information you can send would be appreciated. Is it safe to give my email? Maybe give me yours Ill send you mine that way. We have talked about retiring boards. I wish I could send pics.
