Yeah the writers killed fear a few episodes in. I couldn't wait for this spin-off. Slogged thru season 1 an threw in the towel. I miss twd being awesome.
Nick was basically Rick Grimes as the show revolved around him. He was the main character. Strand had a point that people like Nick would thrive in that world, he was one of the people that could have survived it. He covered himself in blood and walked with the dead, he felt alive with them and knew how to survive within that. When it comes down to the title of the show "Fear the Walking Dead" I don't think they were talking about the Walkers, I think it was aimed at Nick and people like him.

It literally pains me knowing that I will need to go back and continue the show with my favorite character being gone. Another thing too is, people are always making edits on TikTok of TWD and FTWD and I have seen Nick edits several times on my FYP and in the comments everyone always talked about his death and how bad it was, and this was before I watched FTWD, so while watching the show I knew that Nick was going to die at some point ever since I started watching Fear, I just never knew when. I totally agree I’m the same I watched FTWD late so I already Knew Nick was going to die going into it but in the 3 and a half seasons he was in the show he had such a profound impact on me in the way I felt myself relating to him a lot and the show just isn’t the same without him :(
Nick for ftwd is what Tyrion Lannister was for got not in a sense that they are similar but that they ground the show and create a depth that makes the viewer wanting to watch bc of those characters.
without Nick i dont even think theres a point of continuing watching ftwd anymore, i will still probably watch it just for the sake of watching it but jesus damn you Gimple
Travis' death was when the cracks of this show started forming, Morgan appearing was literally the grim reaper, and Nick dying is what tore everything apart
Bro you are Litteraly the only UA-camrs saying what we twd fans have BEEN THINKING. Keep making these fear videos bro there’s legit not a single one besides you making this fire fear content!
Nick was the face of FTWD. Its sad he wasn't happy & wanted to leave. I looked him up on IMDB & he hasn't had many projects since then. I wonder if he regrets leaving.
I’d say if the actor saw any of the episodes after his death he’d be fine and dandy, zero regrets about leaving, like his instinct was right, it’s just we all lost a brilliant character with the showrunner getting fired. He’s been in a good few shows the last couple of years, and been really good in them
Only ever watched the first episode of Fear but always kept up to date with it through Spoilers. Fully annoyed me when they killed off Travis (great vid btw!)and Nick so early into both of the seasons they died in. Still baffled on how Troy survived being bludgeoned with a hammer, being next to an explosion and being carried underwater by a strong current whilst unconscious....
I really really enjoyed the Dynamics bwtween Nick and Troy. They were definitly my favorites of the characters early on. John Dorey Jr was good too, but look where that got him.
I also hated the time jump. There was so much development in season 3 and then it just jumped ahead a year. I also didn't like the future/past presentation. I tried watching several times after Nick's death but i couldn't. I also really hated Morgan. He was my least favorite character in walking dead and his presence just ruined Fear. "I lose people and then I lose myself." Stupidest line of all. So many characters had similar reactions to the new world. Morgan droning on about this was so lame.
Morgan was awesome, I agree that his presence in Fear was pointless but I loved him in the main show. Clear was one of the greatest episodes and he was very entertaining to watch in action. Not to mention his reasoning for wanting to be a pacifist or why he would lose his mind made a lot of sense. There’s definitely truth to that quote, there’s so many worse lines of dialogue in the waking dead universe than that. Besides there’s a difference between losing people you care about and feeling responsible for the deaths of people you care about as well as having hundreds of innocent peoples blood on your hands because of an inability to control yourself. Morgan explored these themes better than most other characters.
It lowkey breaks my heart how wrong this show got done. After the first 3 seasons, I truly believed this show was going to be better then the main show. How wrong I was. Nick was such a relatable character, the most relatable, to me, in the whole walking dead universe. I'll forever be sad about how this show got done. It is what it is, though.
I wasn't initially sold on FTWD. I wanted to love it more than the show deserved (if that made sense). By season 2-3 the show really picked up but with the death of Travis and then the loss of Nick later I completely checked out. They were the two most compelling characters on the show and without them I lost all interest. Another great video!
He was the ultimate underdog story. Seeing an individual who was completely not built for this world but be set free and even thrive. being valued and respected by others. He may not have started a child but we watched him grow more than others in a way that made sense.
Yes, you had now covered the video on Nick. Was looking forward to that. Just finished watching the video and I agree with you about Nick. Nick’s death also had killed the show for me as well. Edit: fix grammar
After his death I didn’t even tune into the next episode I just shut the tv off and haven’t seen another episode since. Fear was only good from season 1 up to his death. His death LITERALLY killed the series
Completed the season 8 today, 6 year before when i started watching this i was a student and loved the nick i cried on his death…my eyes got water everytime i heard the name nick in the show..
Since even before the walking dead came out I wanted to hear a story about how a drug addict would have adjusted to an apocalypse, and I loved that line about how he's been surviving like this and everyone is catching up to him
Aye, I completely agree with this essay, The death of Nick removed the heart of the show, I continued watching & it never again reached the heights attained by having him in it, they lost that little bit of magic.
This series for me should have always just been the movie about what happened the first day. The first season of “Fear” was all that was ever worth investing in and should have been a one off
You realyy nailed it with this video. FTWD season 1 - 3 was a really good show and in my opinion, was better than the main show, especially season 3. The shame became total garbage after that - I remember watching (half paying attention to) the final season and then re-watching season 1 to 3 and they're like totally different shows. I really wish they had kept the original writer as I think that seasons 4 to 7 would've been very different (and GOOD). I know what you mean about Nick's character in that the downfall of society basically saved him and broke his addiction. It's very relatable in so many ways as were the rest of the family - they had various issues like any family but to see them adapt and down whatever they had to to survive from the very start of the outbreak was something I'd wanted to see since the main show started.
Gimple, Ian and Andrew were the worst things to happen to FearTWD, they just sidelined/ killed off the original cast so Morgan, Dwight, Sherry and new characters can take over. I just assume that Season 3 was the finale, Nick died at the dam, the others eventually find each other and live out their lives safe from Gimple
Dave should've never been fired. After killing Carl Scott Gimple should've been fired. I will never watch anything Scott Gimple is involved with. The guy single handedly destroyed the complete Walking Dead universe, for me anyways.
The conversation between Nick and Madison in that room Strand hid them in during the Proctors storyline was some of the best acting in this series! I could see how they could develop Madison into a villain due to some of her choices from S2 onward.
You’re so right about losing Nick they lost the main selling point of the show, he was incredible, the character was fantastic and the actor was so unbelievably good. And i definitely think the actual reason he left was because Dave Erickson was sacked and the show he signed on for was just going to be lost after that. And he was completely right, as well all saw, that’s exactly what happened. He was easily my favorite Walking Dead character. I kept trying to go back to the show eventually a long time later and every time it was so bad. Great video
FTWD died after the first season when they basically decided to skip over the entire premise that the show was sold on. Biggest bait and switch show I’ve ever watched.
Great niche content. Rewatching the show right now, but only for the first 3 and a half seasons. Man I would kill to see the full series made by the writer of the first 3 seasons, just give him the cast that was there at the ending of season 3 and do a new final season, an alternate timeline. Not even hating too hard against the rest of the seasons (besides 7 and first half of 8, those were pretty stinky imo) but the show was straight up cinema in the first 3
For real! That would be so sick to see it would have been amazing at points I feel like FTWD was better than the main show that’s how good it was in it’s peak!
@@theohuntt yeah agreed for the most part. Like top FTWD moment is higher than top TWD moments imo. I think TWD managed like a higher consistency, but man, Nick blowing up the dam and Travis lashing out at those 2 guys in the hotel, those 2 moments are historical. Only like Rick's "death" scene is on the same level for me personally. And the writing of Nick is like top notch. Nick is like the most well written character PERIOD. I have watched a lot of TV in my time but nobody is as interesting of a character to me as Nick is
Watching Morgan's sanctimonious pious bullshit episode after episode is what killed Fear. Yessss we get it, you don't kill. Oh i wonder what this weeks episode... oh its Morgan doesn't kill again. And next weeks episode... Morgan... and... he... doesnt kill again. And again And again. We get it. The writers just wanted to shove it down our throats so much, it killed my enjoyment of the show
Killing Nick was the final straw. Like Travis, he had a huge amount of character developed, only to be killed off. I'm sad the original plan was to keep Nick as the main character, but it didn't happen.
Completely agree. And I’ve always said, if they had to kill him, why not in the big emotional climatic moment where he stays behind on the dam for his family to escape? Instead of a throwaway garbage death in a random filler episode only a few episodes later. Nick was the backbone of the show and deserved so much better than to go out like that.
He was very well done I was annoyed at him for most of season one and by the time he died he was my character fav in the show. Wonderfully portrayed and written.
Cool video. I like your thought process. This was pretty interesting. Gave you a new sub and I’ll be checking out the rest of your library. Nick was the absolute best character in my opinion as well. They never should’ve killed off his character like that. I understand the actor wanted to leave the show at that point so there was no getting around it. I just feel that the way they did it really put the nail in the coffin for me. People cried because no one wanted Nick to die not because they did it in some poetically sad/great way. They could’ve put way more effort and thought into how they did it. It may have even been able to push the story forward if they’d done it in a clever or meaningful way. But…..nope! We get an obnoxious kid who mostly everyone hates just walk up and pop him out of nowhere. I hated that more than anything. It’s really sad how a really great show that so many love can be absolutely destroyed by one idiot’s terrible idea and lack of vision.
The reason why most younger audiences love nick, aka me, its because he is a young adult lost at life with no real purpose, nothing that motivates him thats why he starts as a junkie, but as the show progresses he finds a purpose , that purpose is to be a beacon of hope help those in need and its fitting for him because he forgives people, like troy what he did to the ranch he forgive him, giving him a second chance
Just started watching this show I'm on szn 3 right now. I figured Nick would die eventually but so early in the series??? He's the best character on the show, his character development is unmatched.
The series the Walking Dead died for me in Season 2 and it was clear the tv network was only dragging the story out that only lead to an anti climax. I’m very glad I never continued watching it.
I dont get it,nick drowned after blowing up a dam, then in morgans spin off he got shot by a little girl and he died,i dont understand, someone help me to understand?
I...what the heck. I stopped watching the show a long time ago, but Nick was the freaking main and I really imagined him against his mom at the show final. it just made sense! freaking Gimple, man. ruining everything 🤦🏻♀️
The whole reason I started fear the walking dead after finishing the main show was because I wanted to see Morgan, but along the way watching the first 3 season I started liking nick a lot, and at the beginning of season 4 where Morgan is trying to help nick get over his moms death I thought it was amazing seeing these 2 characters talk, then moments later he died and I stopped watching the show
First 3 seasons are some of the best TV. I don't even think Travis should have died that early. They killed his son and then didn't let his character develop at all.
I remember watching the episode where Nick dies for the first time and instantly feeling like watching the show after that was pointless so I stopped watching and I’m glad I did. The first 3 seasons were so good and hearing what the original plan was for the show sounds so interesting I really wish we could’ve gotten that instead
I really wish somehow some way we can see what FTWD was supposed to be but I know it'll never happen. The show had the possibility to become a must watch like breaking bad or TWD, it truly did but what we're left with is so soulless and sad. I'm still planning to finish FTWD because I hate not finishing a show but damn, it's tough knowing what could've been.
When you say nick is the fear of the walking dead, damn I cant agree more, the whole plot change from season 3 to season 4 still pissed me off so much, from greatest of season 3 to watching season 4 thinking what am I even watching
I agree with much of what you say. However Nick was not the main character. The main character for seasons 1-4a and 8b is Madison. She’s even the first credited.
bro im on start of season 3 rn and i dont know whether to be glad or mad that you spoiled me with that title, at least now im prepared for his death, hes my fave character in ftwd T-T
Yeah I peaced out at the end of this season. Getting rid of Kim Dickens was the last straw for me. They basically just ended one show and started a new one.
I absolutely loved the first 2-3 seasons on FTWD! Nick was such a great character. Also.. don't watch the last few season of the show! The writing it so terrible and cringe I wouldn't recommend anyone watching it seriously.
You can understand killing off Interesting and complex characters when the plot requires it but fear had the worst timing they killed chris off to build up travis to be a leader, ruthless warrior of the apocalypse and protect his family over his own life and that’s why Chris was killed but then killing him off 2 episodes into a season where he had a planned death that was so much more impactful and really did make sense to his character was a wrong decision. Same with Jake and Troy in s3 they killed off the two great additions, obviously Jake was killed to build Troy up to not have a leash or someone to reel him in anymore but then killing Troy off because they were afraid of how his character would be butchered in later seasons which then adds more depth to the story arch or nick and madison and the path they were going down in the apocalypse just for nick to be killed off 4 episodes later and madison to basically be killed off 8 episodes later. They can try to retcon it all they want but fear had amazing characters and actors for the first 3 seasons and they wasted each and everyone of them until we were left with Morgan Alicia and co. The show lost itself with its characters as fear was never a plot driven show but a show driven through characters experiencing the world around them it was how they felt and evolved and became who they were in the world and they killed it
While Fear wasn't game changing it had its own charm with its own characters and dynamics sadly it just turned to shit and all the likeable and complex charcters were turned into jokes and thrown to the sidelines, great video!
I've always known Gimple is one of the reasons Erickson was fired and about Nick killing Madison. But is it really a fact that Erickson killed off Troy just because of him?
It went from a Dysfunctional Family in a apocalypse to Morgan’s own spin off.

I totally agree I’m the same I watched FTWD late so I already Knew Nick was going to die going into it but in the 3 and a half seasons he was in the show he had such a profound impact on me in the way I felt myself relating to him a lot and the show just isn’t the same without him :(
@@theohuntt i finished fear around a couple weeks ago. The 6th-8th seasons were good in my opinion. Season 8 was a masterpiece.
Troy survived two hammer strikes and being blown up 😂😂
Nick for ftwd is what Tyrion Lannister was for got not in a sense that they are similar but that they ground the show and create a depth that makes the viewer wanting to watch bc of those characters.
without Nick i dont even think theres a point of continuing watching ftwd anymore, i will still probably watch it just for the sake of watching it but jesus damn you Gimple
Travis' death was when the cracks of this show started forming, Morgan appearing was literally the grim reaper, and Nick dying is what tore everything apart
The decline of walking dead shows can be summarized as the writers killing off the wrong characters.
Cause of the previous showrunners firing and the ones that replaced them didn't brush up on the previous material. Plus their riding sucked.
LITERALLY, How is that man alive WTF 😭😭😭
When Nick died is exactly when I stopped watching. He was so good.
I really really enjoyed the Dynamics bwtween Nick and Troy. They were definitly my favorites of the characters early on. John Dorey Jr was good too, but look where that got him.
@@DeagleGamesTV Exactly!

Couldn’t agree more, this is a great series of videos along with your Travis breakdown
Thanks man, I will keep up the FTWD content!
Yeah the time jump was so confusing and just felt like they were running out of ideas of what to do to the of cast of fear
I didn't mind the time jump I hated how Fear turned into The Morgan Show and devolved all of the character building it did w/ the original Fear cast.
I was expecting morgan to be killing a lot in ftwd
After travis it was poopy but after nick i was gutted
Exactly how I felt as well :(
Same. I really miss this show. 😢
@@theohuntt rip Nick and John:( my 2 favs
I felt the same way.
Nick dynamics are awesome, he was written like he´s the main character of the show
Beautiful analysis. Subbed, keep it up!
Thank you so much it means a lot!!!
I worked Fear and I know Frank was the one who wanted to leave. He wanted to go work on movies and asked to be killed off the show.
Yes, you had now covered the video on Nick. Was looking forward to that. Just finished watching the video and I agree with you about Nick. Nick’s death also had killed the show for me as well.
Edit: fix grammar
Hahaha I’m glad you enjoyed it! What video would you like to see next?
@@theohuntt Next one could be good to cover how Troy coming back doesn't make sense and why it doesn't help with the plot but created more plot holes.
Withdrawal would be hell in the apocalypse, then again the Pharmacy would be the first place I'd loot😂
Nick was the most engaging character in the show. Troy was awesome. Adding Morgan to anything is pretty much the death of it.
Morgan was one of the best characters in the main show. The cast of Fear was going to be killed off when they did regardless of Morgan’s presence.
This death was the FTWD's Carl's death. After both, I quit watching.
Me and my mum stopped watching as soon as nick died, with no Travis, Troy, or nick I just didn’t see a point in watching
I lost all drive to watch after Travis and nick died loved the show so much before then
You’re so right about losing Nick they lost the main selling point of the show, he was incredible, the character was fantastic and the actor was so unbelievably good. Great video
Plz we can create a community for bring back nick
Why does Nick remind me of Johnny Depp every time I look at him
I love the idea that the actor pulled a Dale. Mad repsect.
I literally stopped watching after he died.
FTWD died after the first season when they basically decided to skip over the entire premise that the show was sold on.
Biggest bait and switch show I’ve ever watched.
I disagree seasons 2 and 3 are fantastic
I have watched a lot of TV in my time but nobody is as interesting of a character to me as Nick is
Such a cool video! Even though I barely watched FTWD I was so invested in this.
P.S. what is the name of the background song btw😭 it’s so lovely
Thank you so much for the lovely comment, the song is Winter goodbye and can be found on pixarbay music. :)
And again
And again.
We get it. The writers just wanted to shove it down our throats so much, it killed my enjoyment of the show
Loved Morgan in the main show but yes this got tiresome eventually.
@@lukefitton7329 the showrunners ruined his character. Blame Scott gimple
It makes me wonder what Troy’s fate would’ve been if Madison was supposed to be the villain in the original script.
The show had so much potential and completely wasted it.
Keep up these great vids. Good points made 👍
Killing Nick was the final straw.
My favorite character in all tv series, thanks fore this video fron Italy❤
Thank you so much i feel the same way RIP Nick :(
He was very well done I was annoyed at him for most of season one and by the time he died he was my character fav in the show.
Thanks man! And yeah I agree Nicks death could have been done so much better :/
@@mindedsinger2823 a very beautifully comment that sums up his character so well!
thank you for making this
Frank Dillane was his generations Johnny Depp.
Just started watching this show I'm on szn 3 right now. I figured Nick would die eventually but so early in the series??? He's the best character on the show, his character development is unmatched.
The show really started becoming something with Season 3, how badly it fucking fumbled every time it got goodm
Really random but what's the background music at 6:00 ?
Yo my cannon is
FTD 1-3
And the walking dead 1-6
Head cannon is they lived happily ever after in the stadium and Alexandria ….
The way Gimple killed two shows with one death.
Those first two seasons were so good man. Rip to travis and nick
Please do more ftwd content. People don't talk about it enough, but there is some good shit in this show
Will do, my next videos going to be on the relationship of Nick and Troy so I hope you enjoy that
@theohuntt oh shit, I got an exclusive from the director himself. Gonna be awesome man, can't wait for that. Season 3 is fucking great
@@jake9367 hahahah and yeah 100% season 3 is so amazing it’s kind of sad how downhill the show went after that tho :(
I've always known Gimple is one of the reasons Erickson was fired and about Nick killing Madison. But is it really a fact that Erickson killed off Troy just because of him?
Fear went from believable to i don’t even know what
Fear the walking dead videos will always be clicked on
The Walking Dead universe is like. Oh, this is your favorite person. We're gonna kill them off...
or they're gonna leave the show.😂
