Hi Shane - Great video - I have been playing with 2 TevoTornados recently and have found a few things common with them. Checking all alignments and ensuring everything is square is essential. Use of an engineers square and a decent ruler to check all frame alignments will suffice. Also Changing the 2GT belt on the bed axis to a PU steel core and changing the end idler to a toothed idler and adding a support bracket to the "Y" axis stepper motor is another improvement that shouldn't be over looked, this improves Y axis control for the heavy bed much better. and lastly if you change the Bowden to Capricorn XS and remove the cable ties around the tube to allow it to be more free and straight with no kinks this will improve extrusion accuracy and ensure smoother delivery of filament to the hot end. - good luck with your Tornado - looking forward to further reviews.
Thanks for the suggestions. I normally fix things I don't like with the printers I have. This was just the "out of box" experience that every new owner could possibly go though.
If it doesn't turn on 120v, let's just plug it into 220V? YIKE!! Always check the AC switch and see what its set to. There is also a reason why something doesn't work, usually it's a simply fix. I'm surprised it worked after that. :) I highly recommend properly grounding the printer assembly to reduce the chance of shocking you! Two reasons your mic is picking up the hum you're getting, either not properly grounded or from the power supply "cheaper power supplies will do this". These poor printers take a beating during shipping. I just ordered a Tornado 2018 model this past Friday, so excited to get it on Monday. Thanks for the tip on the scraper, I'm definitely ordering one!
i'll be curious to see how the titan extruder works on that compared to the regular one on the cr-10.... i have one laying around, havent decided when or if i will use it on mine...
That's the problem with kits like these... If it fails, you first think it is your fault and do a LOT of testing (=time) before you know the part was just broken.
Well if it is smoking turn it off right away. That means something is wrong. As for smell, it depends on what plastic you use as to what the smells are. PLA and PETG put off no odor. ABS has a heavy odor and is toxic to breath in. Wood PLA puts out an amazing wood burning smell.
Totally agree. Companies like Anycubic use hot glue to hold the connectors in so they don't fall out during shipping. I'm sure that is probably what happened here though.
I'd like to see a comparison vs the CR-10 from someone who has had the Tornado running for more than four prints (Maybe a bit of an understatement, but you know what I mean). I would also like to see a tutorial for how to install TMC2208 drivers that includes more than a brief glance at flashing the firmware, including how to tune the steps, though I don't know if your green tornado has the MKS Gen L board that has replaceable drivers like the gold 2018 edition has. It would be icing on the cake to see a video that tests the limits of the stock hot end with high temp filaments. I wouldn't say no to a comparison between the green tornado and the 2018 black and gold edition either, as they are apparently not identical in every way. A list of quality replacement parts to replace those which aren't so great could help many people, as well. (for example "The Stock PSU has fluctuating power so a Mean Well LRS-150-24 is a perfect replacement!") Thank you for your reply. Not everyone making good content will reply to an almost year-old video. I appreciate it.
@@razorblade7108 yeah but if I remember correctly even with those there have been some changes. Without some kind of build date and log of the differences. It will be up to is to determine. Good luck though. I love mine
Microphones will pick up all kinds of funky shit. He has his microphone or computer on the same power supply as the printer, or he has two grounds between his printer system and computer system. Needs a ground lift somewhere is my guess.
Plugging a set 220V to 110V nothing will happen there in the US only here in Europe a set 110v into a 220V socket will fry a Board, would be nice to see what you would do or say if you got a D9 just like the one I got :-))
when are you going to address the topic of frimware and hardware level security configuration? quand allez-vous aborder le sujet de la configuration de sécurité au niveau frimware et matériels?
Don't print their spool holder it is not anything you want inmho It takes a ton of filament and is very springy as a single post angled out in the air. Wait till you see how horrible the salmon skin is on that printer ! P.S. That bed is some crazy Tevo Epoxy made with recycled USA I-phone parts as far as I know. :)
I thought this was a improved cr10 as well. Ha ha . Its not! Tevo has a huge qc problem. I have this pile of @#$%$^ and its is being converted to a new board rewired with a new power supply as well. I had to rewire each stepper trying to get it to actually work as shipped. The power supply blew up on day 5 with nothing shorted that I have ever found. It just wouldn't power up. I threw in the towel bought a new 10 amp, 24 volt supply and a MKS 24volt 1.4 board and triminics It is now a Tevo Frame and a metal box of theirs with all new electronics :)

I have one and it’s awesome. Thanks for sharing

Hopefully you used my links :)
So if they run a test print prior to shipping why was the extrude super loose? There is no reason for them to loosen?
where is the removal tool link :)
I know, I know... I forgot. I added the links below :)

Hi i was thinking about buying a 3d printer i was just wonder how bad does it smoke when your printing and the smell

Good video....next time can we get close-ups of the print so we can clearly see what you are talking about? Thanks!!
How's the printer holding up for you? You improve the print quality a bit? Nice video thanks for putting it out
Only changes I have made was to add larger knobs to the bed leveling knobs. Other than that it prints great.
It's an insanely bad QC that the LCD could end up disconnected in a closed enclosure 😭
Totally agree. Companies like Anycubic use hot glue to hold the connectors in so they don't fall out during shipping. I'm sure that is probably what happened here though.
he also wasn't giving it enough time to start up. It takes a second for the LCD to even power up.
Did you sort your bed levelling out? I seem to have the same problem.
Yes... but I'm still not happy with how hard it is to level. I need to print out some extension knobs like the CR-10 has.
@@Fugatech3DPrinting I have the same problem in my brand new machine. My middle has a low spot and I have no idea how to fix at this point
The plug btw, looks like a GX series connector, probably a gx12 or gx16 :D
Awesome thanks for the name! Kills me when I don't know the proper term.
One day I will find out why those included chinese usb cables are almost always translucent blue, one day.... :p
Do let me know! :)
So where are those additional videos on the Tornado you promised at the end of the video? It's been 10 months!
What specifically are you looking for? I've got a few thousand hours of prints on the machine.

Wow that was a easy setup
the salmon skin effect shouldn't be a problem with the newer 2018 model.
They really need to add the year or build number or something on the packaging or in the box so you know which one you got. LOL
@@TBoom8669 It looks like the new model is bronze instead of green. Just ordered one and hope it's the right one.

The static noise is real.
That is due to the PSU for some odd reason.
I guess they don't bother much about EMF safety

I may try to reach out to Wanhao again later this summer. That printer looks really nice.
Pretty sure the bed material is the same that they use to manufacture pcb’s. I don’t own that printer and I could be wrong, so don’t quote me on that.
hi! when you make video on security marlin and materials? have fun
I'm not sure I understand your question.
when are you going to address the topic of frimware and hardware level security configuration?
quand allez-vous aborder le sujet de la configuration de sécurité au niveau frimware et matériels?
I don't think I am qualified to do a video like that.
LOL DUDE!! is this the first time you used a 3d printer??and youre doing review lol
This isn't a review...
Video starts at 1:36

Now that gave me a good laugh lol. I did print it and I'm using it right now but also printed one off Thingiverse that I'm gonna try.

So I think this one has the new MKS board in it but I need to open it up again and confirm.
I hope so the the old one was a piece and had the 49XX drivers with awsome salmon skin effect ! :)
Shane,
Some of your videos are getting hard to watch. Acting surprised about stuff you obviously know about...
very bad assembly. u did not show important things and skipped a lot. And it seems you did not like to do the review.
