I have a good one for you, American version is Mochen, but the Polish Church and town clerk always spelt it Molcian and the census takers spelt it Mojohn or Maushung. Even two Polish people I work with have zero idea how to pronounce it and never saw that last name before. Also his wife's surname was Halik, which was an easy one.

German here with the occasional polish ancestor. Because we don’t have the l with the / in it, we keep saying my mom’s maiden name wrong. Heard it the first time in polish now. Thank you 🙂

Thanks again. I saw one of our four families of origin from Polish country - Wójcik,
Other three are Gnot (from Przemysł), Hejka, and Turowski (which you pronounced in earlier podcast)

    Turowski (Turowska)
    Wójcik
    Gnot

My last name is Draplin. The surname was shortened when my family came to America from Poland but it has been very hard to find out it’s possible origin. Or possible last names it could be derived from. Was just wondering if you had any insight. Thank you, love your videos!

Trying to recall what my Dziadzia called the end of a loaf of bread.
I seem to recall hearing ‘krumpka’. Is this correct?

Kasieta and yes it's Polish but we're wondering if the people at the port of entry were confused and put down the name of a town since I've searched for the name and can't find anything out about it. My grandpa Kasmir was born and raised in Poland.
