Wow, just wow! Wish we'd heard about this beforehand to watch live. This is the next best thing. Great camera work! Again, Wow for all the fireworks and fabulous drone light show, true Vegas fashion! So glad we stopped in during Superbowl weekend and got my Tropicana souvenir, a beautiful canvas bag with a thick rope handle and "TROPICANA" stitched across the front. Farewell to a legend.

I was a kid back then but it was the best fireworks show I had ever seen! The drones with this one added an extra special effect. If it HAD to be done, they did this beautifully in true Vegas fashion with Sinatra, Elvis, and all! It was an iconic property that will be missed for sure! Cheers to you Tropicana and thank you for the memories that you left in the hearts of Las Vegan's and out visitors! You won't be forgotten!! 😊❤
We harbor fond memories of The Trop when we stayed there in 1994, not too long after they opened the new MGM Grand, next door. It was a favorite Vegas Casino and Hotel. And, like all the old demolished Vegas icons, you went down proud, and though your era ends, you'll not be forgotten. CHEERS!!
It’s sad to see the Trop go, we had great times there with family and friend since the 70’s. They had beautiful presidential suites and their 20th floor had also spacious suites with great views. Their steak house was fantastic. The Trop went downhill since Penn Gaming took over the property, they lost many loyal customers and that was the beginning of the end. It was an awesome place at one time and the firework display was a great way to say goodbye to the Trop. Thanks for the awesome video, much appreciated, fantastic job.
LOL. Fireworks are MUCH CHEAPER. I don't about these particular structures but a 39 story building can cost about $130 million to build, but it can cost $240 mil to demolish, including toxic materials removal and remediation. No telling what it cost with 2 STRUCTURES like this one.

I loved staying at the Tropicana every year! Lovely stained glass above the gambling tables, really nice balconies with rooms surrounding the court yard and pool. It was the best!

The camera man didn’t drop the ball here, he/she was in position and had their shot. It’s the technical director who’s watching all camera angles on monitors and calls the shots. They’re the one who switches from camera to camera because they’re able to see what each camera is getting. They probably didn’t know when it was actually going to come down and unfortunately was in a close up of the wrong building when the moment arrived.

Agree as well. The traffic there will be brutal during games. Who is going to stay at that end of the strip the noise, traffic, and amount of people will be brutal there.

There's a Zippo lighter in there somewhere from 25 years ago that fell down one of the elevator shafts that I had since I was 18, I'm now 60. A worker may have found it, I don't know ? But I'd like to think it was there.
In 2000, a bunch of us "Whosers", who'd become friends on the ABC message board for Drew Carey's "Whose Line Is it, Anyway?", decided we were all going to meet up in Vegas that year, as Drew took the show there to watch and bet on the Super Bowl every year, and to put on shows at the MGM Grand. I and about 5 of our Whoser gang stayed at "The Trop". I really liked this hotel. I'm sorry to see it gone. It was a huge part of my Vegas experience.
No it didn't. Two or three years of building and 20 seconds to get rid of it after months of gutting it. The extras were just that.. they quoted a price and it was accepted.
I'm an 80s and 90s kid myself and grew up in Austin, TX...nothing like it was and has lost most of its charm. Just feels like a big metropolis now. How was it growing up in Vegas? I'm a sucker for that city. 1st went in the early 2000s so I missed all those glory days.
I was a construction worker on the 2nd building. I was so proud to have worked on the Tropicana.

This is the 2nd Hotel i have stayed in that was exploded. The Riviera and The Tropicana. Like how is Circus Circus still standing????

I just came back from Vegas, staying at Excalibur. I was watching out of my window these people working in 100 degree heat. Incredible.

After all the build-up, the TV station basically misses the close up if each implosion. Great planning and direction of this once in a lifetime event!
