2024, still listening. Can’t believe these are over 20 years old…
The funny thing, is a lot of it is still relevant. And let's be honest... Even 50 years from now, Karl's theories will still be funny.

They were such a great trio, shame they no longer work together.
@@Lewis-fd9js Tho I wish they were still working together, I can fully understand why Karl doesn't want to. Ricky went too far with things, too many times. He verged on being a bully. While some of it may have been staged at the beginning, over time, It became more frequent, and obviously not expected or planned... at least by Karl. I think the last straw, occurred during the filming of the series "An Idiot Abroad". Even Steve said a few times, in the background, that Ricky was going to far, with how he was messing around with Karl's experiences and mind. Personally, after the abduction thing in Isreal, If it was me... I would have walked off the set and quit. He was shaken, and could have been seriously hurt, so would have been justified. The fact that he continued, shows his dedication.
@@lindatruderung9378 I agree. Listening back to lots of Ricky/Steve/Karl material, I do notice how sometimes Ricky can come across as cruel to Karl, which is a shame. Although Karl probably made good money from his collaborations with Ricky, I imagine it doesn’t do much for your self-esteem to be humiliated on a daily basis for the entertainment of others.
As much as I do love Ricky, he does sometimes seem like someone who could do with being punched in the face to knock some humility into him 😂
Great to know that people still love this in 2024! ❤ also watching their current stuff is descent too!
Steve's anecdote about the knocked off speakers very much underrated in XFM folklore!
There was loads of delivery drivers doing that back then. Me included. I had a job for a off licence chain in London and would drive the van around listing to this show on the radio. On a saturday afternoon it was. They used to crease me up man.

I've done almost the exact same thing and my misses also kept track of how long I went for, although it was only 20 minutes as I fell asleep.

It's been 20 years lads. What the fuck. Still the best radio shows and podcasts ever made
in a way, I prefer these older ones, when they hadn't started capitalising on Karl as much. Just feels alot more organic, and it's nice hearing Karl laugh and be sarcy and stuff - as opposed to just constantly being mocked (even though I do know it's playful)
Cam - Agreed. Once you get to the last season and start all over again, these episodes feel 'refreshing' every time.
Cam I just listen to these xfm as background noise so it feels like they are talking in the room. Karl's just listening and joining in occasionally
Very true. It does get tiring with Karl being a larger part of the show. They revolve the show around him a little too much later on. I love the bloke but in small portions. Eventually, he just becomes annoying to listen to.
I'm different, I'm not a fan on the first series. I listen to them because it would be weird to leave them out. Thinks its because I find ricky and steve quite annoying. Steve talks way too much and comes across as to young and eager but as the years go on he becomes funnier than ricky
@John Smith The worst bits are when Ricky asks Karl about specific things to get specific answers we've heard before, like "why weren't the kids with big heads friends with each other".
It's nice when Karl plucks up the courage to jab at Ricky.

after becoming a fan of Origin of Symmetry this episode is even more enjoyable than it was before.
I don’t know why, but it always gets me when Ricky says “probably Robbie Coltrane’s in it cause he’s in the other one at the moment” during his Lord of the Rings review.
Ricky's hatred for Muse led me to check them out several months ago. Not bad, don't understand the hate. Micro Cuts is a pretty darn good song...

At the time, some people thought that Muse were little more than a rip-off of Radiohead, especially their first few albums. Ricky quite liked Radiohead at the time, so he was in that camp.

11:20 It's genuinely great hearing them talking about Behemoth as an obscure metal band and Slipknot being the one "death metal" band that have made it.
Nearly 20 years on and Slipknot are still global metal superstars with Behemoth opening for their shows.
