    My favorite time of the day: the kids are in bed, my a/c is down so low that my blood freezes, I get under my many, many covers and force my husband to watch MSQC with me!! Quack! Sheer bliss.

    As a longarmer, thanks for spreading the word about stitching around the perimeter of a quilt top with a pieced (or no) border. 👍

    Very creative pattern, thanks Jenny! I'd also use smaller stitches when dealing with smaller pieces, just to ensure they don't come undone before being secured into the 1/4" seam. This pattern also looks like little tunnel entrances or bridge arcs ... a world of Quilt Naming opportunities. Love it! (Congrats on 500,000 subscribers too!!)

    Love the quilt. Question - you said do a 3 1/2 in spacer of white for 2nd row but you also have a spacer it looks like on top row.
    How is this done, as when you laid the 2 rows together, they were the same length. Is the extra white on top row a small boarder?
    Thank you as always for your wonderful tutorials.

  • @momgrandma5496

    Easy cutting and construction, wouldn’t it be cute to fussy cut some critters or gnomes for some of the openings. : )

    • @sydneybeanpug
      @sydneybeanpug 6 років тому +1

      But the openings are made with the squared off corners and not a solid piece.so that might be really hard to do. But it would be cute if it can be figured out.

      Have you ever heard of Chalk Couture? They have chalk ink that is permanent after you iron it and quite a selection of transfers, similar to silk screen, that I know have little critters like owls, raccoons, and squirrels. They would be perfect.

    • @HRHDMKYT
      @HRHDMKYT 6 років тому +2

      Actually Sydney, the openings are the 2.5" background fabric squares (white, in Jenny's quilt). So if you use a background with a print where the print motif is spread out, or even just a few 2.5" squares with little motifs throughout the fabric on a [white] background, you can fussy cut some or all of those 2.5" 'door' squares to have a little person/animal/flower/etc. centred on it. Great idea, Mom Grandma!

    Hi Jenny a darling quilt beautiful prints. I’m new at quilting. Why do quilters sew so much using designs with thread in background. I find it extremely distracting. At least it appears so on utube maybe not in person. I would never do that, but there must be a reason. Please educate me. Also I have a quilt from Hungary. If I took a picture of it could you tell me what the name might be? Loads of love & Thanks

    • @sydneybeanpug

    • @dianenickerson4744
      @dianenickerson4744 6 років тому

      I believe she is referring to the actual quilting as opposed to the piecing.

    • @kathleentighe-smith8372
      @kathleentighe-smith8372 6 років тому +1

      I'm thinking you are referring to various free motion quilt designs in the backgrounds. The more quilting you have, the more stable the quilt and batting over time. Large open unquilted areas can cause batting to shift or bunch over time...but lots of folks like the look of a heavily quilted area...totally up to your taste.
