I'm using the Canon M50. I bought the adapter from Viltrox, which has worked great for $40. I then picked up a combo pack with a 10-18mm lens & the nifty 50 instead of the 11-22 EFM lens. I figured for $40 more (for the adapter) I could have 2 lenses instead of the one. For my videos I'm using the 10-18 lens because I shoot in 4k (sit down style) and want to compensate for that massive crop. I eventually want to get that Rokinon 12mm lens, as well as the 22mm EFM. I think those would be great to have as well.
The Canon EF-M 11-22 is such a game changer. Had been hunting high and low for the right lens (shooting interior photos of homes, as well as vlogging), and this one is exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks for the great advice.
I’m just getting into a vlog for my law firm and found this channel. I’ve watched dozens of these now, and as a lawyer with near zero experience with this stuff, I’ve found everything you say super easy to understand, thorough and the examples and use cases to be fantastic. Subscribed. Thank you!
I swear you’re the only camera person I can watch who explains things in a way i understand I watch everyone else and I feel dumb I watch you and I understand everything
I’ve just bought EOS M50 with a package of 15-45mm and 22mm. I’m sooo in love with the camera itself and it’s lenses. Still discovering but it’s really good option for traveling and vlogs
I just picked up the 22mm f/2 for my m50... Absolutely love it, aside from the nifty fifty for portraits, the 22mm will be left on my camera constantly... I evantually want to upgrade my nifty fifty to the 1.4 or maybe even the 1.2
I picked up the M50 with the 15-45 which I love. I bought the 11-22 as well for shooting top down art videos, and travel vlogs. But I find myself using the kit lens more, it’s pretty impressive.
We started with just an EOS-M (original) and found that the adapter for EF lenses to be the best buy since you can source used EF glass for so cheap. Saved the $100 cost of the adapter several times over and got much better glass then we would have had otherwise. Just have to keep in mind that aps-c crop factor when figuring out your lens selection. - The great thing about these little mirrorless options is just how much freedom they offer. Heck, if using a small lens we can run our EOS-M on a cell phone gimbal. The low weight really comes in handy. Especially during long filming days when not using a shoulder rig where your arms would get tired.
I have been looking for detailed reviews of various lenses; you wouldn't believe how hard that is to find. A video may be described as such, yet it's worthless rambling, so thank you for the actual info! So happy I found your channel!
I got my M50 for a month, and now I totally see why you are recommending it to the vloggers! Initially, I didnt think I would get another lens other than the kit, but I love M50 that I should consider. Thanks for the vid!!
I'm not that knowledgable in the camera field, so right now I'm sticking with a Samsung Galaxy s8 to film my videos. This video really gave me a good idea of what to invest in for the future. Keep up the good work sean!!
We’ve been using the m50 for our skits, and the one piece of advice I would give is to learn more about manual exposure. For blogs auto exposure is fine, but for something like a staged skit, it’s a lot better to take a film making approach for exposure and white balance. It was a hard lesson to learn but hope someone out there can use this advice and get a higher quality look for their videos!
I owned Canon 60D, 70D, 6D, 6D mk2 and M50. Now only carry out M50 with 15-45mm, 22mm and 32mm which is my most preferred lens because mainly love shooting portrait shots. Maybe due to age catching up so traveling light is the reason and picture quality isn't bad at all for a amateur photographer like myself. Quality of pictures somehow can be improved by adobe photoshop. Love this review!
Thanks Sean! I’m downsizing from a Canon 5D with a heavy 24-70mm EF L 2.8 lens. I’ve found that the M50 MK II with the 15-45 EF-M lens is phenomenal. It fits my needs for shooting portraits, groups, and architecture for a magazine client of mine. We’ll see how my clients perceive my abilities when they see such a small system on the set. Lol
I actually shoot and film with the M50. Using a Meike adapter for EFS lenses. Favorite lens is the 24mm (which makes it around 38/40mm with the crop). The blurred background is just delicious. I also use a 10-18mm and sometimes the 50mm (but I should get the one you showcase, I only have the 50mm 1.8 II)
You are one of my greatest inspirations in starting my UA-cam channel, I have bought quite a bit of gear because of your recommendations, I'm going broke cuz of YOU!!!! but that's because i'm a collector at heart, my biggest investment has been a brand new Canon Rebel t5i/i5t/5ti/5it kit, whatever and A Sony HXR MC2000J. I also got a Panasonic G7, forgot to plug in the mic, so I have video with no audio, and a G6, but I remembered to plug in the mic, Don't know much about lenses yet, still don't know what's my favorite camera!!! This is probably the wrong place to post this, but I know I will forget, so THANKS for always being there!!!! Appreciate you very very much!!!!
I’m currently using the Canon M50 (also have a M5) and mostly use the 11-22.... also have the 22mm pancake and love it for travel photos and video when I don’t want to carry a bunch of stuff.... Love you video.... thank you
I have an M5 camera. My favorite lens is the ef-m 32mm f/1.4. Superb brightness, clarity. But it has exceptional bokeh. I usually travel with the 11-22, 18-150 and the 32mm lenses. I also have the 22mm f/2, 28mm Macro, Tamron 18-400mm and an older EF 24-70mm f/2.8L. I don't use the older lens much except portraits anymore. With limited mobility, I've gotten to love the smaller, lighter mirrorless system. I'm back to snapping pics all the time, again.
Amazing content, amazing delivery. Its almost as if you guy know what a budding influencer is asking... and answered like EVERY question ahead of time. Great job think media!
I just purchased the M50 and the Canon EF-M 22mm f2 lens. Thanks for making these videos so easy to understand for beginners. So many tech videos intimidate me but you really break it all down in a way that is so digestible. Can't tell you how comforting that is! I always come to your channel when I want to get something new and your suggestions are always on point.
Trust! We got the Nikon D5300 that was our first camera but I find it big, heavy, AF is awful when shooting video it's also noisy as hell and it was our first camera... Looking to hit up the M50 as we travel a fair bit gotta take care of that scarce baggage allowance
@@akey69er I've had the m50 for almost 2 months now and i love it! love the size, love the quality, love it all. still perfecting my videography skills with it, but the photos are amazing!
The rokinon litteraly rockssss. I always heard wide angle do not match with deep of field. But on your video... i was amaze by the results. I drive m3 and s8.

sean this video is amazeballs! you convinced me to buy the m50 last week and i was hoping you would make a video about lenses for the m50 and i'm so glad i saw this before buying it. thank you so much! stay cool haha.
I have the EOS M6 with the 15-45mm kit lens and pretty much love everything about it! The only thing I feel like I am missing is the viewfinder but it hasn't been a deal breaker. I'll probably spring to get the attachment eventually. Thanks for always putting out useful content that is geared towards small creators. Give's us motivation to keep going.
I was given an M50 for Christmas, and I love it! Now I’m researching what lens to buy, so video’s like this are extremely helpful! Thank you for all of your content.
Currently M50 with the 22mm ef-m lens, bought both on Amazon using your affiliate link. Thanks for all the great content! I'd love to see what the canon 11-24 ef lens coupled with a speed booster would do for the 4k on this camera.
95% or more of my photos are on my two 1DX Mk2 bodies (usually skip every other new model). My backup body was originally the 5D Mk4, then the EOS R, and now getting the M6 Mk2 for its portability and as a travel camera, and with the Canon brand EF--M adapter. Thinking about an EF--M speed booster.
We use the M system long time ago as a small alternative to Canon's full-frame cameras. We had all the lenses and the adapter, the combination with the 50mm 1.8 is nice but us too big. Then I prefer my 6D ... Since now mainly my wife photographed with it and almost always had only the 22mm 2.0 on it, we have all zooms except the 55-200mm sold again (including the adapter). A few days ago I gave her the 28mm macro and she is very excited. She likes to shoot small things but the lens is also a wonderful alround lens and will probably make the 22er jealous. The lens I really missed as a tip in your video. But you have presented the 12mm 2.0 of Rokinon (Samyang), which I find very exciting and will test it for sure. Best regards Thomas
Hi, loved the video. I have a Canon 760D , with an EF-S 10-18 mm F4.5-5.6 IS STM lens, an EF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM lens and an old EF-S 55-250mm F4-5.6 IS II lens. The STM and USM lenses use the same variable ND and CPL filters; and the 55-250 uses a CLP and 3 ND filters: 2 x ND8 and a ND4. All 3 of those lenses have their own hoods. I have a 2 battery grip with back door battery access and 4 batteries though I think I might need a few more.
awesome. I have all three of those canon lenses formy m6 and an nd filter .. as well as a free other EF lenses. glad to see the set you gets you're approval! the 22mm is great for UA-cam in a fixed set up, whereas the IS on the 17-22 makes it good for on the go. although personally my use is more photography than video, not a fan of the m6's video quality when moving or panning.
@@okaro6595 wow I actually bought one. Got the speed booster. Got the 22m. And though I love the size and everything I just missed the L glass but mostly the full frame length and sensor. So I'm actually going to get the RP. Not as portable (til they release a wide Angle prime that's light) but for the same purpose I'll use the efs 10-22m adapted for now. I couldn't use the m50 for pro work so the RP seems like a nice middle ground. Eventually use that as my c cam, as I upgrade all my 5dm3 to R6 & R5s.
Thanks for this video, about to pull the trigger on this kit. FYI if you buy the M50 on Canon's website you can get the mount adapter for only $50 right now 👍
Just picked up the Canon M100 as my first ‘real’ camera, and the 22mm pancake lens as you suggested. Super excited to start making content with it soon!!!!
how are you liking the camera? Just got the M100 and 22mm pancake lens as well and wanted to hear some feedback from you since its been 6 months now. Will probably get the adapter and the nifty 50mm lens down the line
I'm using my EOS M6 Mark II Have the 15 - 45 kit lens and now the EF S adapter with the 10 - 22mm f3.5-4.5 Ultra wide. Stunning shots at 32 megapixels !!!
Jerrod Corey my friend recommended me the sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 before I saw this video. Which do you think is better? Sorry for so many questions. I am lost at all this I had no idea lenses could make vlogging so different depending on which you use.
@@kimbewrlly no problem I'm happy to help the question I need to know is what do you plan on filming with the lens that you want? The Sigma lens is a great lens but you already have that capability with the kit lens and you will not notice very much of a difference if any. I recommend for the EOS M6 Mark II the EFM 11-22mm Canon lens. When I bought my lens the EFM was not in stock so I bought an adapter and got the EOS lens and it works great but the EFM 11 to 22 is made for that Cannon it is AWESOME
@@kimbewrlly if you plan on filming indoors you don't need the Sigma and you're going to have plenty of light available you're not going to need to utilize the low light capabilities if you're going to be shooting a mix of outdoor and indoor I would recommend going with the Nifty Fifty for V logging if you want just all-around everything get the E FM 11 to 22
@@DariaAlexandraE it's pretty decent for a beginner vlogging kit. I'm still playing about with the manual settings. The picture quality is decent but it isn't the best but for the money you pay-not bad. If you're looking to vlog and have something not too bulky go for it. However 4k is abysmal in my opinion as there is no stabilisation. Only think you you can get to remove the shaking would be amazing steady hands of a gimble which I'm looking to get as well some point this year. Hope that helps ✌️
Literally 3 years later and with the new M50 mark 2 I was thinking about picking up I wanted to know what lenses were available and again y'all came through.
Great video and very informative. They have a great deal right now (I got mine at B&H Photo, but I think its through all authorized canon retailers) that if you buy the M50, you get $150 off the Canon EF adapter, so the adapter is only $38! I'm now thinking of buying this nifty fifty lens to discussed here to work with the adapter. Thanks again!
That was super informative and again I thank you for sharing your knowledge and always helping creators. I'm still using the Canon G7x. Am leaning toward M50. You think there will be a new Canon G7x iii this year?
I upgraded to the M50 from the G7X Mark ii. The G7X has been great, I have two. If you’re ok with the M50 size (with tripod and microphone) then just go for it!
I do agree that the 22mm lens is the best M lens for photo quality and I think if you had nothing to compare it to a lot of people would be happy. Coming from full frame EOS models and EF lenses I personally can't wait until they make some better M specific lenses because I can't ever quite get the shots I want and am used to with other setups.
M50 - mostly using the 22mm now and love it, but I also have the 15-45 & bought the canon ef adapter for $50 bundled with the camera. Might add the nifty fifty next.
Back to shooting and considering getting more glass. This was a wild ride when calling wide angle lens portrait. Then I started realizing the audience is video/vlog focused. Interesting stuff, might get into mirrorless and just do that on it and adapt my old RF lenses as needed or stick to a two camera bag.
Yesssss the video I’ve been waiting for... and you’re the only person I trust to give thorough and correct info 👍🏻 Love my M50 and ready for another lens.
Love and London You might want to check out the Potato Jet youtube channel. He is a pro cameraman in Hollywood and uses the m50 for his vlogs and travel videos. He’s even been giving his Adsense money to charity on the channel. I’ve found it a good source of info about the m50 and cinematography in general.
very interesting and very grace to buy the 22mm lens & eos m. canon decorates with sir's melodious voice right frome the range finder QL17 ,AE-1 ,A1 i like CANON photography.
I am a bit late to the party here but a very useful and informative video, thank you for providing ideas and examples to help re-affirm the purchase but also for ideas of implementation. I already started looking into the adaptor for non-mirror compatible lenses as my father is a photographer (he recommended the M50 to me) but the capabilities are so good considering this is a budget camera. Really enjoy your videos, keep 'em coming.
I’m seriously debating picking up the M50 just for fun. Not sure it would get me anywhere between my iPhone and 80D but doesn’t stop me from wanting to check it out. Lol. Great video!
Tip for the EF adapter there’s a company called miké they have this adapter and partner with amazon for £25 GBP which is roughly $40 USD including post and packaging. This saved me a shit ton of money and allowed me to expand my photography range🤙
super helpful, thank you. I got an M50 a couple months back with the 15-45mm lens. Been taking lots of vlog type videos so I think I'm guna go with the EF-M 11-22. Can't wait to try it!
Bro, you are officially my go-to for ALL audio and visual training! Your stuff is amazing, and thanks for taking the time to help us newbies out! I'm going all-in on your suggestions and LOVING the quality so far... although my bank account is NOT, lol. Seriously Sean, thanks for your help!
Great vid. I’m on the M6 with the 15-45 & 24mm but looking to get the 11-22mm & nifty fifty - this video has confirmed my thoughts on having a great all round lightweight Vlog and photography setup, thanks 👍
Canon Powershot N, no external lenses it's a P&S. Use it with Canon Hack Development Kit firmware. Love the centralized twin shutter ring, and touchscreen shutter for a total of 3 shutter options. Picture quality is great. Hate its always-on autofocus when doing timelapse especially long exposure.

Really appreciate your vid. I'm a beginner vlogger and am using my iPhone and want to move up a notch. Been thinking of getting an M50.
I have a canon 80d and just got a sigma 18-300mm. It's such an awesome combo!
nice! 👊💯
Finally, someone taking the time for us non-bloggers, who need to see IQ.
Michael Didomenico Exactly!!!!!!
i just purchased the m50 and im glad i found this video so i can get more lenses thanks
Awesome video! Wanting this M50 but replacement may come out soon!
You can always want. Now after two years the replacement came and it was essentially a software update. If you wait you can wait forever.
FYI if you buy the M50 on Canon's website you can get the mount adapter for only $50 right now 👍
Aaron Bailey
Yes if you buy any Eos M camera
BTW, that pricing applies to other authorized canon retailers as well (BH, Best Buy, etc). I ended up buying it with the adapter from BH.
Do you know if they still have this deal going on
Just picked up the Canon M100 as my first ‘real’ camera, and the 22mm pancake lens as you suggested. Super excited to start making content with it soon!!!!
Awesome - that will be a super fun setup! 😎
how are you liking the camera? Just got the M100 and 22mm pancake lens as well and wanted to hear some feedback from you since its been 6 months now. Will probably get the adapter and the nifty 50mm lens down the line
@@pattycakeman the M50 would be a better choice and more versatile if you're looking to create content.
Best lens for sit down videos? For example a beauty/makeup channel. What lens would you recommend?
Camera canon m50
id be curious too!
22mm F2 & a ring light!
I'm using my EOS M6 Mark II
Have the 15 - 45 kit lens and now the EF S adapter with the 10 - 22mm f3.5-4.5 Ultra wide. Stunning shots at 32 megapixels !!!
hello! how wide is it compared to the 15-45mm lens? I have this exact camera and lens and been wondering how to make the lens wider for videos
@@kimbewrlly the 10-22 is SUPER WIDE. Much better for closeups and shooting VLOGS and selfies
@@kimbewrlly if you plan on filming indoors you don't need the Sigma and you're going to have plenty of light available you're not going to need to utilize the low light capabilities if you're going to be shooting a mix of outdoor and indoor I would recommend going with the Nifty Fifty for V logging if you want just all-around everything get the E FM 11 to 22
That's why I always get excited when I receive notif of new uploads from this channel 😃 always gives a very helpful tips in vlogging 😍
Loving this camera.... trying to learn everything it can do
I'm actually going to buy this camera after much investigation and research in the next coming month.
I'm thinking about buying it right now! Do you like it?:)
Go find canon 200d mark 2
Shooting on the 60d with Canon 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM lens. Would love to upgrade eventually but it works well enough on the channel for now.
Andrei Behjan do you know if they still have this deal going on?
Great as always! I need a new camera very soon
I love the M50. I got one for my wife and instantly loved it. I want to get a second one for myself.
That was super informative and again I thank you for sharing your knowledge and always helping creators. I'm still using the Canon G7x. Am leaning toward M50. You think there will be a new Canon G7x iii this year?
I think it's possible 😎
I upgraded to the M50 from the G7X Mark ii. The G7X has been great, I have two. If you’re ok with the M50 size (with tripod and microphone) then just go for it!
This channel has helped me so much in starting my UA-cam channel in the best way I can. Thank you!!!
I've been using M50 since December using the kit lens. Love the quality.
For eos m the canon efs 24mm 2.8 works great I use it on my EOS M 1 super sharp and great Focal length 38mm equivalent
You, my friend, just earned a subscriber.
I shoot with a Canon t6i. Presently testing the Yongnuo 85mm. Despite criticisms it's a decent lens. Same with YN's version of the Nifty Fifty.
Funny you say that, I have been watching him too for a few weeks now. Thanks!
very interesting and very grace to buy the 22mm lens & eos m. canon decorates with sir's melodious voice right frome the range finder QL17 ,AE-1 ,A1 i like CANON photography.
My main camera is 5dm4 with 35mm f1.4 and 85mm1.2 ,Fujifilm X-T2 with 8 prime lenses
First comment from morroco
Boom!
Think Media wish to see you in Morroco and if you are in Dubai you are welcome too
I’m seriously debating picking up the M50 just for fun.
I'm using the Canon M50 with the Nifty Fifty! Its superb 😃👌👍
Im using a Canon SL2 and i like the kit lens
nice!
read this as xl2 brought me to my vx2100 days haha
Basic
Just got the M100 camera looking for good tips on lenses, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Excellent work Sean
Canon Eos M3, 22mm pancake... I am a beginner so still learning by watching videos.
Great vid. I’m on the M6 with the 15-45 & 24mm but looking to get the 11-22mm & nifty fifty - this video has confirmed my thoughts on having a great all round lightweight Vlog and photography setup, thanks 👍
Man, thanks a lot for this detailed explanation with examples, it’s very helpful!
Excellent. I love this camera but need some other lenses, thank you for the help!
I enjoy using canon EOS M50, getting great and usual to use
Just offered that camera to my wife. I’m in love with that! Thanks at this video. Amazing option
Great video! I absolutely love my M50, now I know some great lenses to pair with it!
Just the video I was waiting for! Thanks so much Think Media. Cheers
