Amazing review! I have owned a Canon G7X for many years now and learned how to use it to its maximum potential, but there are definitely some limitations that the Canon M50 unlocks with ease. May I ask how is the 22mm for vlogging? I've always enjoyed having the ability to vlog at any time of day/night, and with a stunning 1.8 aperture lens, the G7X did it like a champ. My only concern is that the 22mm would sit too close to the face to get a decent range of view. What do you think?
Hi Metin. Thanks very much for this. I think that this would be really useful for a lot of people. I just wanted to note (for people who may not know) that the focal length of the lenses is given relative to full frame cameras, but - for the Canon M50, with a crop-factor of 1.6 - the effective focal length of each lens is almost doubled - e.g., the 'Nifty Fifty' 50mm f 1.8 in your review is actually giving more of a 'look' closer to the kind of angle and compression that a 100mm lens would give on a full-frame camera. I really like the M50's kit lens (even though it could be sharper), and when I used to shoot 35mm in the old, pre-digital days, I always used a 28mm (not a 50mm) as my standard lens. So the 15-45mm kit lens approximates a 28mm at its widest angle of view. I just wish that it could open wider than f 3.5.

What lens do you recommend for sit down videos? For a beauty/makeup channel. A lens with the most depth of field. And also for photography. I like pictures and videos with a good depth of field?
Very Cool Stuff. I just started with video this year and also decided to go with the M50. I love this little camera! Talk about a surprising package especially considering what you'll pay for one when compared to the "big timer cameras". I know it has it's drawbacks but I don't care, I'm learning to use what I got and this thing has a lot for it's price point. These are the lenses I use, all Canon: EF-S 10-22mm, EF 85mm f/1.4L, and EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro. M50 USER'S UNITE!!!!!!

Great review! That's the information and confirmation I needed! Can't do much with that camera if your going to use it for filming . It makes the 10mm look like an 18mm on a crop sensor. A can know call the Canon M50 a double crap camera . Sorry its "Double Crop"...
great video. thanks for sharing. my only rub would be that i personally don't like any glass that is above 2.8f maximum aperture for anything indoors without serious lighting. the usefulness and clarity of the image is just lost. There's like no control unless outdoors.
Great lens setup, i debating between Canon 200D & M50 but in the end I choose 200D cause I don’t want to use adapter. i only have 4 lens while i travel kit lens STM 18-55mm ( use most time) YN nifty fifty 1.8 Canon 10-18mm STM (used it often) Tamron 70-300mm Di Marco (landscape) If i got the budget i really wish to swap the kit lens to 18-135mm to give me more distance.

Thanks! Yes it is needed if oyu want to mount any other lens than a EF-M lens. You see, EF-M is a format specifically designed for the Canon EOS M mirrorless camera system with EF-M mount, like the M50. You can also use aaaall the other lenses too but you need an adapter. It's like the wall plugs in foreign countries. :-D

T’was a great vlog, very informative! 👏 I have my canon eos M50, I’ve decided to start having a travel and food vlogs. I want to have a crisp look and blurry background that 15-45 mm can’t. Can I have a suggestions from you what lens will I buy?.
Thanks for watching! Well, the 22mm prime lens is actually a really good bet. I’ll make a video about it quite soon so stay tuned and also check out other videos here about the 22mm. There are some great UA-camrs covering it 👌
Can you do a video comparing a 15 to 16 mm focal length lens and a 22 mm focal length lens at arm’s length, on a gimbal, for vlogging purposes? Great video btw.
Very useful man! Got a lot of ideas and info on this. I am thinking of upgrading from canon 800d to m50. However i think it could not be a great change between the 2. Except the size for sure. I am trying to look for a great lens but now i am thinking if i already have the needed one. I have 18-200 f3.5-6.3 Tamron, 10-18mm f4.5-5.6, and 50mm f1.8.
Dude, you’re well equipped tbh in this case I wouldn’t change (except you need a lighter camera). If so I’d buy it with the ef to efm lens adaptor I’m mentioning in the video. You can use all your lenses then.
Hey guy, thanks for your video is useful for guiding people through your practical testing of favorite Canon Lenses. My default M50's standard zoom using the EF 17-40mm f4L USM lens with EF-M mount adaptor. For the sake of lightweight in daily shooting/vlogging, I always use Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens for vlogging and EF-M 22mm f2 STM for indoor for low light photo/video.
Great video. My question is, why don't anyone recommend the Canon 32mm prime lens? That's the one you'd need to capture the 50mm focal length. The crop factor of 1.6mm has to be taken into consideration. The 32mm is the true nifty fifty when using an aps-c camera.
Thanks! So, the 32mm wasn’t out yet when I recorded this video. I know what you mean, but the Nifty Fifty will always be the 50mm I showed in the video. It’s true, the 1.6 crop is essential, but that doesn’t change the fact that the nifty fifty is officially a 50mm (built for full-frame).
The Sigma contemporary lenses are excellent. The EF lenses with a focal reducer are also nice. I see f1.0 with my 85mm Canon lens. I don't like any kit lenses for the M series. The 22mm ef-m lens is good, but none of the other ef-m lenses that I tried produced pleasing results.
Great video, good selection of lenses and great space you have there! Little tip, better control the mic volume manually, otherwise it will always auto-level up once you are silent. Btw, what do you think, is the EF-S 15-85 a good upgrade in comparison to the EF-M 15-45?
As a total beginner to cameras can you show us the settings you set up to use for the canon m50 step by step. This is the camera i just bought and i have been through a couple videos thats have only helped a little. Thanks in advance!
I appreciate you about your content and successful English. I am going to buy M50 and will use it in UA-cam channel, which lense do you advice me for most blurry background result?
Fantastic video. I just bought my m50 and have already got to the point that I've been looking for my next lens. This broke down alot of the confusion. Thanks for the advice.
Hi Metin. I have a question. Why'd you choose to use the 10-18mm over the native ef-m 11-22mm? What are it's advantages over the smaller ef-m lens? Thanks!
Good question! Well I already had the EF to EF-M lens adapter. So the 10-18mm is cheaper and starts at 10mm and is also very light (240g vs 220g with the 11-22mm). But that’s actually it. The biggest plus to the 11-22 is that the lowest is at f4.0 compared to the 10-18mm which start at f4.5. So if price doesn’t matter: go with the 11-22mm 😊
@@MetinSenler thanks for the reply and your input, appreciate it so much. I'm planning to buy a Canon M50 and do not own a 10-18mm yet. So I will probably go with the 11-22mm lens. Thanks!

This video really helped me getting a handle on using some various lenses on the M50. How do you feel the M50 rates vs the iPhone XS Max for video - other than the ability to use various lenses of course? I have an XS Max and have been super impressed with the video capabilities using Filmic Pro video app. How much, if any, of an improvement in video quality would I see with the M50?
Bro 2 doubts are there.. 1. Is it a EF-M to EF/EFS lens mount adapter you've shown in this video? 2. Can we vlog with 50mm prime lens by holding it with our hands and get blur background even if we move some distance away camera? Does m50 track the object that is in focus at this case or prime lens just blur object background at a particular distance?
Bruv - Sorry for the late answer. 1. It's the EF/EFS to EF-M to be precise 2. Well I think the 50mm gets you toooo near to the camera when holding it. I would recommend to go with the 22mm or even a wider one. Try the kit-lens (15-35mm) which comes with the camera and check where you feel comfy 3. The M50 has a face tracker so it will always keep a face in focus IF activated. The blurry background comes from the low aperture the 50mm provides (1.8). I will make a video example soon so hit the follow button.
Does the Canon EF 50 mm, f1.8 need a mount adapter ? I am guessing not. An answer would be appreciated. And this video was really amazing . Gave me some insight about lenses in general. I really liked the way you expressed the differences between the lenses

His eyes lit up when I broke out my old Canon XTI. With the nifty 50 and my beloved 17-55 2.8f. I'm thinking the m50 might be small enough I actually take on vacations and I can over see my son getting an early start on vlog or photography. Hows the autofocus with fast moving sports?
Such a lovely story! Hope you and your kids will discover together the magic of video and photography. Well the M50 has the famous Canon Dual Auto Focus which is amazing. Still depends also on the lens you‘re using.
wait your getting a 6 year old child a $500 mirrorless camera to START with?
or am I misreading that cause I really hope that isn't the case.
@@ickypowwow6635 no, I'm getting myself a camera for my family and he can start learning with it. Went a different route and grabbed a gopro hero 7 at Costco when the 8 came out at 197.99. He's gotten really good doing stop motion movies with his legos
congrats, one of the best and simplest reviews out here in YT land. Thank you
Thanks for checking it out! 🙌
Hey mate, I love the way you've presented this video you've really shown everything in such a useful way, top job with this, I'm super keen to try a few of these out, killer video, Great job
Thank you so much! 🙌
I saw your video 5 years ago! I have my first lens because of your recommendation 😊. I want to do wildlife photos (when I go hiking 😬 and I see a bird o any animal around) with this camera . What lends do you recommend? 🙂
Hello hello! I just put the link to the tripod I use in the video in the description. 🚀
We need a time stamp bro
Flip Gz Good idea!
What adapter did you use to use the nifty fifty lens?!
Bro türksün🇹🇷🙏🏻
I have m50 too,and I have no regret
I have the 22mm and the nifty fifety viltrox speed booster the m50 is a great inexpensive camera for photography a great step above the smart phone photography
Great Video i am so glad that you have made this video i did have the 77d which i did like very much but i took on holiday with me to Thailand and i found it very heavy to carry round so i sold it , i did have interest the canon M50 but the only thing what put me of was having to buy the adapter now i have seen this video it has given me a good idea thanks again for a great video full marks.
stephen O'CONNELL Hey man! Happy I could help. Hit me up if you have some further questions and thanks for watching.
your videos are so helpful
unlike many that just go on rants
Happy to help! 😊
Thanks for watching and your comment. Totally agree with your opinion on the max 2.8f. 🙌
I have a SL2 !,, subbed much love from Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks a lot! 🙌
Great lens setup, i debating between Canon 200D & M50 but in the end I choose 200D cause I don’t want to use adapter. i only have 4 lens while i travel
kit lens STM 18-55mm ( use most time)
YN nifty fifty 1.8
Canon 10-18mm STM (used it often)
Tamron 70-300mm Di Marco (landscape)
If i got the budget i really wish to swap the kit lens to 18-135mm to give me more distance.
@1:52 "I layed down a brick..." 😂🤣😂 What a totes 'shit' thing to say 😂🤣😂 I'm such a child! Bahaha © Ali G
Bruh!!! 🤣
So far my favorite has been the 22mm f2 efm prime lens. Very portable and versatile. Also like the 50mm 1.8 ef stg with speed booster, great combination.
EXCELLENT Choice!
LOL just get the adaptor and the sigma 18-35 1.8 and your done!
Lol
Thank you for the video, really happy you showed actual videos of the difference . Thank you for the lesson
My pleasure Jude! I‘m currently working on new, easy-to-understand lens and camera videos. Would love to read your comments on them too. Have a great day!
Informative video for beginners like me. Now I have a better understanding of those lenses.
Happy to help 😊
I appreciate this video bro! It's straight forward and got the point. It is easily one of the best lens reviews for the canon m50
Wow thanks a lot man! Really appreciate that you watched it. 🙌
Thank you so much
This is the great review in UA-cam
I have Q,
Which one is the best for everything (vloging, video in door)
S 24 mm f/2.8
Or
S 22 mm f/2.0
22mm f/2.0
I have the 22mm f/2 lens, and I love it. Such a good lens.
Amazing.plz i want know what the best mic 🎤 to this camera 📸 thanks alot

I`ve just ordered my M50 lens duo kit. Thanks for the video it was very helpful.
Happy to help. Stay safe while cycling 😊
Very well explained. No doubts left. Thank you 😊
Thanks a lot!
Great video! What is the mount adapter used for and is it necessary?
Hi my friend, what do you think is the best between these cameras for photography .. Canon 77D or Canon M50 or Canon 250D
Found your page just now!!! And you rock my photography world 😎. Learned so much from you, and the way you present your video is soo creative, easy to understand the complicated stuff with the lenses. Thank you! And keep making cool videos! ❤❤❤
Oh that‘s so nice of you thank you very much. I‘m happy to help 😊🚀
22mm f2 is my daily lens since over 6 months :)
M50 should've come bundled with the 22m pancake instead of the usual 15-45mm in my opinion.
Yu Guan It‘s also my favorite lens but I think it‘s a good thing to have a zoom lens as a starter lens. So people who are just starting out can try different focal lenghts.
Great video, one of the best I’ve seen with the exact comparison changing each lens before talking about it. Thank you!
Happy to help 😊
Loved the video. Very helpful. Better than UA-camrs who has millions of subs
Thanks a lot 🙌
T’was a great vlog, very informative! 👏
I have my canon eos M50, I’ve decided to start having a travel and food vlogs.
There are some great UA-camrs covering it 👌
Metin Senler I also think to buy the 50mm? Does it good? Thanks a lot.
@@MetinSenler thanks bud. Hahaha i tend to go on a travel so a lighter camera is a plus. My back and shoulder is already killing me.
Hi! What exactly you're looking for? Video or photo? Low light?
@@MetinSenler video and photo mainly outdoors
Hey Metin, Do you have to use the adapter when using the 50mm f/1.8 lens on the Canon M50, or is it just a great extra to have? Thanks in advance :)
Yes you actually do. Otherwise it wouldn‘t fit to the camera.
Hey ... m gonna buy m50 for photography and travelling :) plss tell me which lens should i buy for best photos ???
I appreciate you about your content and successful English. I am going to buy M50 and will use it in UA-cam channel, which lense do you advice me for most blurry background result?
Thanks a lot. Well I'd go with the 22mm pancake lens shown in the video.
Fantastic video. I just bought my m50 and have already got to the point that I've been looking for my next lens. This broke down alot of the confusion. Thanks for the advice.
Happy to help! I’ll start again in two weeks making some videos about lenses so come back to check out if like. 🙌
Bro, great content!
Keep up the good work.
Hope you get more subs.
Thanks man! Really appreciate that 🙌
Great video, helped a lot. I also used Canon UKs live chat service at Canon Live to help choose the right lens for me
Thanks!
Great video
Nice and easy to understand Comparison 👍🏻 as a fellow redbeard I appreciate the extreme close up 🧔🏼
Hahaha 😂
Great bro i didn’t see any body gonna clear difference with all lens
Really really help full
Thanks a lot watching. Happy to help! I‘m currently working on some more easy to understand lens reviews. Would love to read your opinions on them soon 🙌
I just got the Canon M50. What would be the best lens for up close, detailed photography of small objects?
I learned a lot in this video actually. very simplified.
Happy to help 😊
that was a great video...I'm going to buy this camera for Xmas and the lenses you had here were amazing.
How did you link your phone to the camara? I thought that was cool.
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate that 🙌
I don‘t know what you mean by linking it in this video. I just recorded with the phone and added the footage in post. But you can link your phone with the camera with the Canon App which is quite cool tbh. You can not only preview and download the the footage to your phone/tablet you can also change settings like aperture. Have a great Xmas 🎅🏻
@@MetinSenler Thank you Metin. Merry Christmas to you too and much success in your new business!
I didn't know there was a Canon app that could be used as a second camara. I think it could be used as a second angle shot for videos. 👍🏽🙏🏽
What is causing the exposure shift in the video? Which settings are you using?
1. It's the EF/EFS to EF-M to be precise
2. Well I think the 50mm gets you toooo near to the camera when holding it. I would recommend to go with the 22mm or even a wider one. Try the kit-lens (15-35mm) which comes with the camera and check where you feel comfy
3. The M50 has a face tracker so it will always keep a face in focus IF activated. The blurry background comes from the low aperture the 50mm provides (1.8). I will make a video example soon so hit the follow button.
I really loved the way the whole video was. Quite informative 👌🏽
Thank you so much!
super cool. What were your settings for this video. that would be awesome information...thanks
Does the Canon EF 50 mm, f1.8 need a mount adapter ? I am guessing not. An answer would be appreciated.
And this video was really amazing . Gave me some insight about lenses in general. I really liked the way you expressed the differences between the lenses
You need it. The lens has a different mounting system (EF) than the Camera. I linked the product down below. And thanks for the feedback! Happy the video was helpful 😊
Thanks for this video. Can you add a link to your camera tripod in the description box?
Sure! I just did 🚀
Nice review bro. I'm still so torn between the 22mm or the nifty fifty...if you had to only get one or the other which would you recommend?
22mm
Metin Senler thanks bro. That’s the one I actually just bought and I love it!
Great video, an easy but effective video 👍🏻
Thanks a lot for watching!
I don't have much money really, I am saving this year, should I buy the 250d or keep saving for the m50
best for instagram and ebay photo from your sets. Thanks
My pleasure!
