Thanks. Very detailed and clear. Have a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and I need to replace the cupholder which suddenly broke and is now bouncing around inside the center console. You can't pull it out from above so this is very helpful!

If I accidentally broke my cup holders getting in from the passenger side and it's cracked down to the floor, should I just replace the whole thing?

Good the only thing I could add is that after the 2010 version and the body style changed they did not use the horse shoe clip on the shifter knob but rather pull back on the shifter release and pull hard up on the shifter. Pry around the base of the boot to release the clips holding it in place.
