Hello, I have an Elantra like this and was told that my Idle Air Control System RPM was lower than expected and to replace the Idle air control valve. My car stalls on red lights, should I do this?
Dude was right on the money, from start to finish, awesome video I performed a cleaning yesterday, following the video exactly including the relearning process Runs fantastic btw 2015 with 105k miles
Where do you find these data to which you are referring? Torque values, if the gasket needs replacing, how to reprogram the throttle body. Since you are only referring to an Elantra, but you are advertising that the a number of other vehicles can be serviced the same way, there should be data or links to data for these other models. Thanks. And could you please answer the questions in the comments? That would also be a big help.
Hello, a very interesting video. I can apply this procedure to a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I am referring especially to programming the opening of the throttle body that you do at the end of the video. greetings
As he said in the video, just push the ignition start button twice, leave it like that for 10 seconds and then turn off. After that wait 10 seconds and start the car
Amazing video. Thanks for giving us good angles and a clear step-by-step as well as explaining the reason for each step. I was going to take my car to a shop but I'm pretty confident I can do this despite my track record of causing bigger problems every time I attempt simple automotive maintenance 🥴
I followed all steps for some reason the p0106 code came up. Never touch the map sensor. I was assuming it was reusing the seal but everything was clean and torque down. I erased it twice so far hasn't come back. Still order the seal just in case.
I've got 160k miles on my car, and our pcv systems dirty our intakes bad if you don't have a oil catch can. going to be doing this for sure. great vid.
Error codes I received where indicating a problem with either throttle body or accelerator pedal, after replacing both. Found the issue to be liquid getting into ECU and shorting out. Creating check engine light codes and limp mode. I recommend checking ECU first. Prior changing out throttle body. Might suve you hundreds $$$.
EXCELLENT VIDEO. REMOVING THE THROTTLE BODY WAS UNNECESSARY AS I SEE IT. IT WAS CLEAN AS A WHISTLE AFTER CLEANING IT WITH THROTTLE BODY CLEANER. ONCE MORE MY ELANTRA HAS A RUBBER O RING ON THE BACK OF THE THROTTLE BODY. I CHOSE NOT TO OPEN A CAN OF WORMS. DECIDE FOR YOURSELFS.
The main reason for idle recalibration is the fact you just cleaned the carbon which changes throttle position. I’ve heard so many morons on UA-cam act like moving the throttle blade upon cleaning it changes its position which is false.
Do you have to remove it to clean? My car is delaying to start i serviced and changed everything including the sparkplugs and still does it.. maybe oil pressure? Idk what to do
I have a Tucson 2017, for a few days now when. I take my foot off the gas pedal is stays accelerated, recommendations? Have an appointment scheduled with the dealership on the 19th but this feels dangerous to drive
@@dial2fast Thanks, but that's not what I asked. I had this service done an hour ago, but wanted to know if I should check this sooner than 40,000 or 50,000 miles. Sorry, if my original question was unclear. Hope I rephrased it adequately.
For the reset.....Turn key for 10 seconds, wait 10 seconds, then start the car. Do you have to start it after 10 seconds to make it work, or can you come back later and start the car?

@@jeremiahmlc8523 If you are not experienced with working on cars, there is the problem of not knowing how tight a bolt should be. You can overtighten or under-tighten the bolt. With this job, you can give it a try, but if you think you will be servicing your own car for a long time, then invest in some tools. Also tools have gotten really affordable in the past 15 years with more manufacturers from China. I still remember buying a torque wrench for $200 many years ago. Now you can get one on Amazon for $40.
Great concise video. I would use a 1/4" torque wrench for the bolts since low settings on 3/8" wrenches are usually not very accurate. That would be 70 to 104 inch lbs.
Dial, Question: I have a 2.4L santa fe sport. With 98k miles. I need to do this procedure, but while cleaning throttle body, would this be good time now to perform a intake valve carbon cleaning as well since I am opening up the throttle body and do that too? Thoughts?
I have not done the valve cleaning service before, but if you are thinking of using a product that sprays into the intake to clean the valves, then this can be a good time to do the service.
CAN you do a video on this vehicle on how to perform a valve intake cleaning using CRC intake valve GDI cleaner spray.? and best place to access the valves via vacuum hose, or intake manifold? I have 2016 Santa Fe Sport 2.4L.
I have a 2017 forte with the 2.0 GDI. I cleaned the throttle body and moved thr plate not knowing about the reset. It seems to run perfectly fine and have put about 100 miles on it since.. Do you know if this engine needs to do the reset, or did i screw it up?
The idle reset/relearn is only for the idle speed. If you are not having any erratic idle speed when the car is idling, then you are fine. If there is a problem with the idle, you'd definitely notice it as the RPM will surge and drop during idle.
I am using a 3/8" drive torque wrench which I bought 30 years ago. You can't buy that one anymore, but here is one on Amazon you can take a look: amzn.to/3KqS6Ml

Just don't press on the brake so car won't start then press the button to turn off the whole dash
