Gaston wanted this before he went to bed,..I got to see this just as I got up this morning! Example, I think it's about 2:10 AM where the Sawyer is, and it's 6:40 AM where I am! I enjoy watching lumber being harvested,..always a pleasure to watch these videos,.Thanks so much for putting them up here!
WOW ON THE DROP!!! THAT WAS A BIG TREE AND YOU PUT IT RIGHT WARE YOU WANTED IT. LOVE THE KIDS AT THE END BROTHER WE JUST HAD OUR GRANDKIDS OVER 4 THE WEEKEND. THANX 4 SHARING JASON.
How did I miss this??💁♂️💁♂️🤦♂️a week old? My days are running all together. Another great video & content, my 9 year old giggling the whole time! Saying he's going soo fast! Lol awesome job Jason!🇺🇲👍👍
I "wood" love to have the ability to mill my own lumber. I see so much good lumber of all types of hardwood trees going to the landfill instead of being cut up for quality lumber. But I can't justify buying a saw mill for the limited needs. Thumbs Up!
Thank you, Gary. I bought my first mill, a much less expensive Woodland Mills, thinking i “wood” have a fun little hobby. 😬 I ended up finding so much money in milling, I stepped up and the new mill paid for itself in 6 months. It’s pretty amazing. People have come out of the woodwork, so-to-speak.
Spent all day today on our LT35 cutting siding for a few sheds we need to build. Awesome job landing that tree where you did. Not much room for error there!
Caught it before bedtime here in Georgia, awesome as always, Jason. That was a pretty big tree. I’m not sure your help was ready to build, haha. Stay safe and smooth cutting ahead. 👍👍❤️💜💙💚🤠
Everytime I see that cedar tree wood, regardless of what you saw it into, I want to hock, sell, trade everything and order a cabin package, mind you not large, a 24x32 cabin would make me feel like I was living in a palace. I would have exposed wood on the inside and fir on the outside framing. All interior walls would be cedar and the smell.... we don't have smell a video yet but I can smell it. Memories run deep. Back in the sixties, I built a cabin in the cascade mountains out of split fir rails and cedar interior. I used anything for insulation and it was not the best but it did the purpose as I made the walls super thick. All the walls facing north or east were twelve inches thick! Hand split and pegged with dowels I made. I had that tool that would drill one way six inches deep and square holes. I forget the name of it but it used a hammer to punch its way through. Although most of the interior was only six and more high I was not quite six foot at the time. I wouldn't do that again. I know that the cabin stood for over thirty years without anyone living in it but critters but it was still in habitable. I moved after I got out of the service and my priorities changed. Old growth fir split just like butter in thirty foot and more lengths. I used metal fro's and wooden wedges.
Wow! Do you think it’s still standing? I’ve been thinking about building a small cabin next to our creek and renting it to folks as a weekend retreat kind of thing.
@@NorthwestSawyer According to my brother I do not claim him tho, he said that the forest service burnt it down so no one could claim that ground. I wouldn't go back to that country for the whole state! Since I am not healthy enough to make the walk... never will know
I was guessing 50 with the rot. Nice Job!!! I found a never used woodmizer SLR (lap siding and shingle jig) grabbed it today for 700! 3 hours away.. but worth it!
You made the classic felling mistake, you cut through the holding wood (hingewood), thats why your saw got caught. I am sure you know that, but for the people watching who are thinking about felling a tree, the first rule rule of felling is; never NEVER cut the holding wood. The holding wood is what prevents the tree from going sideways or even backwards. It fell where you wanted it, your saw wasn’t wrecked and you survived the task. Successful! Beautiful wood, nice result.
JASON, if you were selling that ceder back east, you'd be making alotta money! That stuff is nice. But , I guess it's all relative, ...if you were wanting are red, white oak, cherry, and hickory from Pennsylvania,... it might be a wash.(except for the woodmizer blades! LOL)
@@NorthwestSawyer Never thought of it that way. Good on you Jason! I'll keep watching and drooling still ! I do still like the ceder that yinz guys have out west!!
I think eastern red cedar is more so but heart rot in these westerns is pretty common. If you watch my video, “Big machines harvesting huge trees”, we cut down a cedar that had ants spilling out of it like water. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen. I actually had a TV show buy the footage from me to use in their show.

Really enjoyed this video got a true sense of the great outdoors...thank you Jason......👍🇬🇧
Thanks, Chris!

Thanks, Karl! I wish I could’ve captured how badly it was leaning the other way. I was pretty happy with the drop.
@@NorthwestSawyer we could see it was leaning thats why we gave you praise we know how hard it is to get it right.
I love watching you mill those boards! Nice work.
Thank you, Steve!

No worries, Craig! I’ll leave the light on for ya😬

That tree got a lot bigger once you stood by it! Wowzers!
I have a couple twice that size. I’m really worried about how they look on the inside. Probably a future video😬
@@NorthwestSawyer Few if any trees that big here in Nova Scotia, Canada. No cedar either.🙁
Another fun to watch video, Jason. Great job placing that tree you fell. I enjoy seeing your assistants. Stay safe. Bill
Thanks, Bill. The assistants are never too far away.
Beautiful land. Great lumber. Hope your chicken coop comes out as you want.
Thank you, Ted. I just hope my wife likes it!😬

Perfect placement on that fell cedar. Nice work Jason.
Thank you, Earl!
Great looking lumber
Another great video
Thank you, David!
Always enjoy your expertise! Beautiful kids also.
Thank you, Larry. I just got an order for 700 more fence boards. I’ll need their help!
Great job on the lumber Jason and I see the chicken coop got the stamp of approval.
Thanks, Barry! I need to work on the nest boxes and chicken run now.
Another great video. Very interesting and well put together.
Thank you, Scott!

I had nail-pounders at the ready. I’ll post a picture on my Instagram. Northwest_sawyer.
Another awesome video man! 👍
So cool seeing that sign in the intro 😁
Thanks, Mike! I can’t wait to see your new machine in action!
Hello from TN - We are challenged by the heart rot in our cedars also.
Thank you for these videos!
My pleasure!
That was one monster tree! Nice job!
Thanks, Chris!
Good job.

Big old tree. Good choice.
Nice job harvesting!
Thank you, Cris. The camera didn’t really pick up how bad that tree was leaning. I was pretty proud of how it went.
Great video

Wow! I was waaaaay off. I guessed 20ish. Glad you were a6to fulfill your order. Nice job, Jason!
Thanks, Gary! Any luck with the mural?
@@NorthwestSawyer yeah, took care of it yesterday. Looks as good as new! I'm really fortunate it was mostly on the dune part and not the octopus.
A very productive day!
Gorgeous wood man. You’re blest to have those trees on your property. Have a great weekend
Thanks, Tom. You as well!
if only i could git my cheap harbor freight to cut like that lol cheers and happy sawing
Hey, Grizz! You’ve done quite a bit of nice sawing on that mill. Maybe she just needs a little love.
@@NorthwestSawyer she sure does and i been spending some love time with her not that we have good weather ...i hope to git some video up on that soon
Awesome shot of the tree fall any better would have resulted in new camera . Do you have to machine ceder again or do they stay rough sawn
These fence board will stay rough. They just ordered 750 more boards 😬

Ha ha I was way off at 42 boards .Nice job felling the tree bet your a good darts player too
Ha! Thanks, Paul. Maybe lawn darts😬
Perfekt 👌
But it’ll have to do 😉
Nice job, what are you going to do with the culled boards?
I used them as siding for our chicken coop
I was going to suggest that, lol.
Awesome video, that’s an awesome mill you, what’s it called???
The mill is a Wood-Mizer LT-35

I like to think I’m making a lot of money on it here😬 however, I once sold $200 worth of cedar but made $1,300 on the video of sawing it.

Great stuff, but don’t speed it up too much I find your work very therapeutic!
Nice falling!!!
Thank you!
$500 worth. Not bad. (or more)
Wont that twist redevelop over time?
If I was sawing long lumber it could be an issue but I think the short fence boards should be okay.
you should replant were u take them down
I was under the impression that ceder was bug and rot resistant......
It is, but an old tree will rot just from age eventually.

sawing a c rooked
Like your vids on this job you need to cut this shit at 8ft6inch
I guessed 50
Close!
I was way off at 42
