Thanks for video. I loved how you summarised korean beauty. I did check out iherb. Unfortunately 90% of products you mentioned are not in the 28% off deal. Still worth a look.
If you haven't tried the Pyunkang Yul [PKY] Calming Moisture Barrier Cream, you really should give it a try. It's unscented, medium-thick to thick and my dry skin loves it. It's very calming on my rosacea. I've had to go very bare bones because my skin has been very irritated and inflamed & that's the last step in my routine. For now, I wipe my face with a warm wet cloth when I wake. Apply an essence, cosrx snail mucin serum, cosrx snail mucin daily moisturizer, and the Pyunkang Yul moisturizer. All very soothing & hydrating and my skin is feeling so much better, much less textured.
I think you’ve been trying more of the popular items with Americans vs Koreans. Check what’s winning awards with Olive Young. Most Koreans have dry skin so they have some amazing skincare. Check all the categories. And 99% of my Korean skincare is unscented! And I have A LOT directly from Korea. It really is a game changer! I’m 51 and my skin has never looked this good.
@@cindyb9830 It's Korea's version of Sephora, it's the top cosmetic store in South Korea. They also have a branch in Canada so they can deliver to the US much more quickly than say, StyleKorean or Stylevana. Although their prices are usally a little higher than the other two.
Have you ever considered pouring your toner into a spray bottle? I use my old setting spray bottle that has a nice mister. I feel like I can use more layers…more effectively 😊
I do the same thing but with an old Omorovicza 1oz glass mist bottle. It has the finest mist of any mist/spray I've ever used. I'll cry is I ever break it. Wished it came in a plastic bottle so I could take on vacays!
Hi Jen, if you like the HaruHaru Wonder and Tir Tir toners for your dry skin, you should try the Mary & May blackberry cream essence and Dr Ceuracle kombucha tea essence as you go into winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Also, if you want thicker moisturizers without heavy scent, do try Purito Oat-In intense cream and Pyunkang Yul intensive repair cream, they're better than Tatcha and you'll love them!
I agree that a hydrating toner is a game changer. I had sensitive, dry, flaking skin that was always peeling throughout the day on both sides of my nose and chin. After I discovered Korean toners, I have amazing skin. It is glowing and there's no red or peeling. How something so simple is so remarkable I don't know but I can't recommend giving toners a try enough.
I've tried a ton of great K-beauty moisturizers! I would recommend Aestura Ato Barrier Cream, Torriden Solid In Ceramide Cream, Cosrx Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream, and Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream. They're all unscented!
You need a tub of Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream which has encapsulated ceramides with ginseng extract. It’s rich, fragrance free, and it doesn’t burn on compromised barrier like CeraVe. One of the cream on the market that has no niacinamide (for those allergic to niacinamide).
Like this too. At first you might think it seems really light how will it work but it just does. Another one I LOVE is Goodal vegan rice milk moisturizing cream. Heavenly!!
For a thick moisturizer that is fragrance-free and extremely gentle, you might like Pyunkang Yul Black Tea Enriched Cream in the black jar. I also like this brand’s Intensive Repair Moisturizer Cream in the blue jar. Both are very good!
Lemme tell you! I am currently living in South Korea and these ideas fully track! The moisturizer…if you spend a lot more $$$ you will get a dream of a moisturizer. And they are all usually fragrances. Korea has a tiered system. Younger people cheaper options less dry skin! The weather here is SOOO inclimate. The summers are subtropical and the winters are Siberian. I think it has a LOt to do with the why their skincare is so good. That and their government really helped/helps companies with research and development.
If you’re looking for a K-beauty moisturizer category for dry skin, look for ones that have “Ato” in the name. Ato category is designed at dry, sensitive skin. Aestura and Illyoon both make popular Ato creams. Have you ever looked into J-beauty? They have great skin care products but don’t get the same hype as K-beauty. About half of my skin care regimen is comprised of J-beauty products.
If you’re looking for a thick rich k-beauty moisturizer, I love the Purito Dermide Cica Barrier Sleeping Pack. I’ve used it every night for years and won’t use any other. It is thick and rich, but still sinks right in. Centella Asiatica is the second ingredient, but it also has Squalene, Ceramides, and Panthenol.
I love the Cos RX snail mucin eye cream- but I find that I can actually use this on my entire face! It doesn’t burn (moisturizer can burn when my skin is dry and irritated during the cold winter months). It is so soothing and fragrance free.
I love how honest you are on your reviews. I too use K beauty skin care. One other person I watch for k beauty skin care is Kelly Driscoll. She breaks it down for different skin types as well as how to pair certain ingredients.
I found the HaruHaru sunscreen through you, and it's my absolute favorite. It even beats out my old favorite - Unseen Sunscreen. Thank you so much for this recommendation!
@Pkrol-t6c I use the yellow tube. It looks great under makeup. I have combination oily skin and live in a humid climate, and it doesn't look greasy. I hope that helps!
@@crystalpolice what foundation/s do you use? Any suggestions would be welcome! I've tried a few different ones with this sunscreen and they all look patchy or pill on top of it. I too have oily skin and I live in South Central Texas so we experience pretty intense heat and humidity. But I've tried this sunscreen in the Winter as well. Not sure what I'm doing wrong😢
@mandyratliff6285 Oh no! I think the trick is to put on the sunscreen and then not touch it for a bit. I usually apply it and do my eyes so it can sink into my skin better. My absolute favorite foundation is Covergirl Matte BB Cream. Unfortunately, it's not available in a lot of shades, though. Here's the others that I love: Wet n Wild Bare Focus Tinted Veil NYX Bare With Me Tinted Veil Loreal Infallible Up to 24H Fresh Wear Foundation Maybelline Super Stay Up to 24H Skin Tint Loreal True Match Hyaluronic Tinted Serum. Sorry I have so many! I enjoy trying out new products. Hope this helps!
Seabreeze....yes!! Exact reason I didn't use toner for YEARS as a dry skin girl! I took a rec from you and bought the HaruHaru Wonder last spring. Game changer!
Love this video, Jen, thank you for this helpful roundup! 😊 re: how to pronounce Dasique: I was actually recently watching reviews from K- and J- beauty UA-camrs (as I was considering getting one of their palettes), and the way they pronounced it is closer to how you said it first (day-zeek), not daisy-queue. If you want to listen, the brand name is written 데이지크 in Korean, and if you search 데이지크 섀도우 팔레트 (Dasique shadow palette), the first video that comes up for me is a review of their palettes from a creator named ssin 씬님 from 4 months ago and it has English subtitles. The Japanese review I watched is from 杉本 佳菜子 (Sugimoto Kanako) and it was the first video that came up when I searched “dasique アイシャドウ” (Dasique eyeshadow)- it’s from a year ago and the thumbnail says “Dasique 全色レビュー” (lit. Dasique All Color Review). That video doesn’t have English subtitles, but she says the brand name about 8-9 seconds into the video. It’s true that in both Korean and Japanese, the final “-que” (an English -k) sound of “Dasique” is written with 크 and ク, which are romanized as “kkeu” and “ku”. However, when these are used at the ends of words not of actual/native Korean or Japanese origin (like Dasique), the vowels are not pronounced so strongly like we (English-speakers) would think upon seeing the romanization. 크/クare just the closest approximations available for the final “k” sound for “foreign” words used in Korean and Japanese (of which there are many). Another Korean brand, WakeMake (웨이크메이크), also uses 크 to approximate this sound in the Hangul (Korean) spelling of the brand name. Another common English word used in both Korean and Japanese cosmetic names is “milk” and it’s written as 밀크 and ミルク, again, using 크 and ク to approximate the final “k” sound. Finally, if the final sound of Dasique was actually like our word “queue”, it would be written as 큐 (instead of 크) in Korean or キュ/キュー (instead of ク) in Japanese. 😊 Sorry for the long comment, but I hope that makes sense/is helpful! 💖 I also did end up getting two Dasique palettes as they were on sale recently- I know you said you weren’t the biggest fan but I personally really like the glitter topper shades and the subtle colors, as those are easier for me to work with. 😅
I really appreciate this comment. Thank you for such a thorough explanation! I speak Japanese but can read only a little of it, and no Korean at all, so I’m very grateful!
I took a screenshot of your comment, because I have been buying k-beauty for years now and wanted to try j beauty. I have purchased products that don’t have English writing on them (although most do). I appreciate the knowledge! 😊
Jen - have you tried the ILLIYOON - Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream? It’s very rich and my favorite winter moisturizer. It is also unscented and comes in a huge tube - can use on the body as well.
Love the Haruharu wonder sunscreen! I’ve been using since June. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all and feels so nice on my skin. I might try those toners in the winter when my skin is dry too. I use Eucerin Q10 moisturizer for as long as I can remember. I’m 38 now. I’ve been using it since at least 20 maybe before that I can’t remember for sure. I hope they never discontinue it 😩
Oh Jen I think you just didn't reach that shelf with K moisturizers. They are emollient and thick but I find that they won't be with actives, which could be great if you use a serum with actives and then cover it with a basic cream with panthenol for example. If you can get your hands on May Coop Bamboo gel cream - thicker gel, amazing cuddling cream. Needly Cicachild. Klairs Midnight blue. Any Pyunkang yul creams (get it from iherb within a week). And of course the famous Etude Soon Jung. My biggest disappointment with kbeauty is their retinol products. I'd purge with scary amount of pimples for the first 2 weeks of using it and then have mediocre texture while using up the rest of the bottle (happened with some by mi, inisfree, cosrx oil) while i'll be fine with western retinol (roc, kate somerville, medik8). Not sure why this is the trend with my skin.
@@catherinelynnfraser2001 thank you but i don't think i will. I have a lot from boxes that i need to finish before i close the kbeauty retinol chapter.
Huge agree on the blush and lip products!!! I also love the House of Hur Moist Ampoule Blusher-- mine is in 02 Deep Plum, and it's soooo gorgeous, I've been wanting to get another. Several other brands have been coming out with their own versions of the fwee Blurry Pudding Pots, like dasique (which I have only ever heard pronounced as days-eek or days-ick) with their Souffle Color Pots, so those might be worth trying! I've been wanting to get my hands on a couple of them to compare the formulas. As for lip products, romand can do no wrong. The Glasting Melting Balm (my favs are 07 Mauve Whip and 12 Veiled Rose) and the Juicy Lasting Tint (25 Bare Grape is worth the hype!) I totally agree with you on, and I'd also recommend the Glasting Color Gloss (I only have it in 01 Peony Ballet but I want more), which has been getting really popular lately! As for matte lips, the ETUDE Fixing Tint was popular a few years ago, but is still one of my absolute favorites. I have 11 Rose Blending, 15 Woody Pink, and 18 Cool Pink On Top, which imo are basically a gradient from most to least saturated, and I love having all three so I can decide how bold of a lip I want. I will also real quick recommend the Torriden Solid In Lip Essence, which is just a clear lip balm in a squeezy tube, but is my absolute favorite when my lips are dry. In terms of skincare, I have really oily skin, so I doubt my recommendations of cleansers (I'm a diehard double cleanser, it's the only thing that keeps me from being totally oily all the time, and I also love the Isntree Green Tea Cleanser for my second step) or moisturizers (the Skin1004 Centella Soothing Cream, despite it's name, is a gel moisturizer, and I love it) will be super applicable for you, but if you're looking for a nice gentle chemical exfoliant, the Isntree Chestnut 2% BHA Toner (which I use and like) is apparently a near perfect dupe of the Paula‘s Choice 2% BHA toner!
Total two k beauty pics both fragrance free: moisturizer purito dermide cica barrier sleeping pack (I use it at night and day during the winter)- it is so rich and lovely. Toner- Goodal vegan rice milk moisturizing toner. Love love it!!!!! Great video!!!!
Hi Jen, thank you for the video. The Tocobo Ceramide cream, the Holika Holika Good cera cream The Dr. Jart Ceramidin cream and the Cosrx ceramide cream are thick and rich 😉
Jen, I loved this video! I have used Korean skincare for a long time but so happy to know about some more products that were new to me! For moisturisers, I also have dry skin and these are all so so good and fragrance free and with very creamy textures: COSRX - Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream and also Dear, Klairs - Rich Moist Soothing Cream or Dear, Klairs - Midnight Blue Calming Cream. Do try them if you haven't already, they are all at Yesstyle.
Jen, your videos are just rocking it! You have the best, most interesting content of all the beauty You Tubers, not to mention your wonderful personality and authenticity!
Great video, Jen -- thanks so much! And, I really love iHerb -- I love that they offer so much K-beauty --- and, isn't it nice that they give "best by" dates for their products? Their shipping is usually very fast. A K-beauty product I love is the CosRx Ceramide Comfort Cream Mist. I enjoy layering multiple toner products right after I wash my face, before my actives, and this one is a favorite. Have a great rest of your weekend!
I've got that sunscreen stick. I wasn't sure it did anything, but I went out to the beach just this past July and forgot my normal sunscreen I bring along. Luckily, I keep this in my purse, so I whipped it out and rubbed it on my face, neck, arms, legs, etc. Didn't realize there were a few spots I missed, since those got noticeably tanned the next day, but that just proved to me this sunscreen stick works.
I love the Haruharu toner which I bought after watching one of your videos. My dry skin loves it, thank you! I totally agree with you about their moisturisers. I have found success for my dry skin with the Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica cream and the May & May Idelenone Blackberry Intense cream. Both of these are rich and soothing creams that you might enjoy with no scent.
Definitely going to try some of those lip products! I already use a Korean sunscreen. By the way, your skin looks absolutely beautiful today! Always love your makeup looks, definitely my aesthetic!
I have dry skin too, my favorite moisturizers are the Torriden solid in ceramide cream, Haru Haru phyto and 5 peptide cream and the Mary and may blackberry complex cream. The Torriden one is the best, very hydrating, sinks in well. I also use the matching essence. Also the Manyo panthetoin toner essence is very, very hydrating and the new Haru Haru pro biotic milky toner. You have to give it a good shake. I recently bought the new BOJ aqua fresh sunscreen, but I've found I get dark red burnt looking skin after wearing it. I thought it might have been from using retinal, but I didn't use it for a week and was still getting it after using the sunscreen. Not sure why. But I do like the original and the Isntree hyaluronic acid watery sun gel and the sun stick, definite repurchases.
The Heimish cleansing balm is fantastic, and even a better deal than the elf one! I love the Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Water Fit Sun Serum and the Tonymoly Ceramide Mocchi Toner (though that is fragranced). (ETA: I'm a big fan of the CosRx snail essence, but I know it's not for everyone!) My favorite find is the I'm MEME I'm Pep! Balm, another lip/cheek product - this time in a squeeze tube. I keep it in my purse in case I need to look put-together in an emergency. I will definitely try the Fwee product in my next K-beauty order!
I LOVE the I'm Meme Pep Balm! I've talked about those on my channel before and they're fantastic. I can't believe I forgot to mention them in this video...and they're so affordable too and the tube lasts forever because you only need a tiny bit. :)
Heimish Marine Care Deep Moisture Nourishing Melting Cream is a great buy if you're looking for something v. rich on the skin! Scented, but not heavily. I've been impressed by how soft it's been making my skin.
For heavier yet magically light moisturizers, try COSRX Propolis cream, and also ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Lotion (they have a heavier cream as well) - both unscented and AMAZING.
The sunscreens are super effective moisturizers. The night masks are thicker formulae as well. The moisture lotions in the luxury Korean lines are very rich.
I’ve found that creams labeled as sleeping packs are thick and rich moisturizers that seal everything in. I’ve used good ones from Purito (deep water sleeping pack).
I love the Romand Glasting Water Tints - they are such a nice formula somewhere between a lip stain and a lip balm. I also recommend the Purito Cica BB Cream, the formula is so lovely (still a limited shade range) I go for the palest one which is 13. With a tan I don't know what shade I Would be though
Hi Jen! I love and appreciate all of your videos. However K-beauty products are always my favorite. Your assessment of all K-beauty products is always spot on accurate and helpful. Most of their products are elegant and luxurious without the insane price tag we see in the US. Please consider a review of K-beauty Retinol serums & creams both for beginners and advanced users. Thank you!💜💜💜
Happy Saturday Jen! I wanna try a couple of those lippies. I love a less opaque glossy balm for everyday. I save my fuller coverage longer lasting lipstick for fancier occasions. And the toners are a game changer for us dry skin gals. Love them! PS not to be a downer but can we all say a prayer for those affected by the devastation caused by the hurricane. 🙏🩵
Those Fwee blushes are the first blushes in a long time I've been tempted to try, they sound a lot like the Shiseido Whipped blushes which were my favorite and are now discontinued. I may pick one of these up to see--while I still have some of the Shiseido left to compare it to.
Great video Jen!!! I have dipped my toes into Korean skin care and am enjoying it. I look forwarded to checking out some of the blush & lippies that you showed.
Yes, Haru Haru Wonder! I’ve tried all their products. Love the light lavender scent, but they have unscented also. The centella line is nice. I agree about the moisturizer. Have you tried the facial oil? Love their sunscreens.
And I like creams to be richer. I found at least two such k-beauty creams for dry and extremely dry skin. Both are from Atopalm: Intensive Moisturizing Cream for Dry and Sensitive Skin Cream & MLE Skin Barrier Cream. The second one is a little more buttery, but when my skin is dehydrated and extremely reactive, this cream is a miracle.
Came back to add that I have been absolutely loving CosRx, Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. It's so gentle yet effective. I use it day and night. Also loving Anua, Heartleaf 77% Soothing Toner. I have aging, dry, sensitive skin and this toner is so calming on my skin. Going to try more fro the Anua line - really enjoying it.
If you want a more heavy duty moisturizer without added fragrance, I love "SIORIS - Deep In A Barrier Cream." The smell is not the most pleasant but that's from the tamanu seed oil. It's my go-to winter time moisturizer. I also love their mists but that's more of a Spring/Summer staple.
My HG Moisturizers for my sensitive, combo/ oily skin are Purito Derminde Relief Barrier Moisturizer. Has 5 different Ceremides and has healed my skin barrier faster than any other product. Also incredibly soothing and works as a lightweight moisturizer is Makeprem Comfort me with Centella extract and Panthenol. Both unscented. Soothes my sensitive skin from sun exposure, Retinol, & product reactions. I cannot live without this!
I also love the HaruHaru Wonder Toner! Idk if you tried this moisturizer already but the Purito Dermide Relief Barrier Moisturizer is unscented and has a thick and creamy texture.
My favorite hydrating toner is the Make P:rem Safe Me Relief Essence Toner. It comes in a 400 mL bottle and I’m near the end of my second one. I’ve tried a lot of hydrating toners, including the Haruharu, and they do basically nothing. Haruharu is also quite thick so it pills on me instead of absorbing. The Make P:rem has a waterier texture that absorbs well and sinks in deeply to hydrate. It is also layerable if you need extra hydration but I don’t usually need more than one lager, it’s just that good.
Jen, as for the moisturizer, try the Missha Time Revolution Night Repair Probio Ampoule Cream. I guarantee you’ll love it! It’s much better then their famous serum
I found the BOJ dynasty cream and the cleansing balm at Marshalls the other day for super cheap i mean its already cheap but its there along with abunch of other K beauty products. I was super surprised to see.
I love watching your videos on k-beauty products to get more ideas. Personally, I don’t like the dynasty cream (stays tacky on my skin) but I have also loved many of the other BoJ products. Have you tried isntree watery sun gel (chemical) or sun cream (mineral)? Those are my favorite sunscreens. Isntree also makes a toner that feels similar to the Haruharu toner, if you want to try a similar hyaluronic acid option. Thanks for sharing all of these options!!
As much as I enjoy Korean skincare and makeup, I feel like Japanese products were a precursor and I wish they could have a greater share of the spotlight. Many of my long-time favorites are J beauty and I wanna give ‘em a shout out.
I actually discovered K-beauty while living in Japan back in the mid-2000s! (I think it was Missha!) I agree that J-beauty was a precursor, I just think Korea puts more effort into getting their products exported (and that observation goes beyond simply cosmetics...I wish their music and media was more readily available!!)
Light texture of moisturizers and heavy fragrance are because of cultural preferences. Thinking that a thicker moisturizer will do a better job is just a placebo. BTW, I don't use Korean creams because I also prefer heavier textures (because of my cultural preference).
Hi Jen a big category for dry skin is essences. More beneficial ingredients than toners (usually) with still a lightweight texture. They are a cross between a toner and a serum in a large enough size to layer without breaking the bank. I noted a recommendation for the Mary and May blackberry which I really like also, but the Dr Ceuracle kombucha caused irritation on my rosacea and eczema prone skin. There are so many others available but my current favourite two are from jin jung sung. Their essence is really fab for the Summer, but for Winter and my level of dryness the omega “serum” (150mls same as the essence) is really comforting on my skin. For rich creams I too struggle to find the rich really buttery creams I need in Winter, but found the Mizon orga cream to almost be rich enough. Another option is to look to their body creams or ato creams (usually formulated for dry/sensitive skin). I personally don’t find the popular Illyoon or Pyunkang Yul to be rich enough, but I like the dear, Klairs supple body cream for my face. In the Summer I used a BofJ dynasty cream and a skin1004 probio cica cream - both only enough moisture for the Summer, but great moisturisers for combo to slightly dry skin. Best wishes x
Dear Jen, try Numbuzin 4 Full nutrient firming cream. It‘s rich in texture, nourishing and I really enjoy it. I use it with a toner and a serum and for my skin (40y, dry & sensitive) it does a great job. I use it with the rice milky toner from I‘am and serums depending on my skins needs
This one is great. My daughter has sensitive skin plus acne. This has cleared it up. We have purchased 3 times this far. Pyunkang Yul Korean Facial Wash Cleansing Foam (Pack of 1) | All Skin Types | Coconut | Zero-irritation, Moisturized Skin, Creating Moisture Barrier after Cleansing | 5.1 Fl. Oz
I am visiting San Francisco. Today I went to the Japan town mall and went a bit nuts shopping for Kbeauty! I bought the beauty of josen stick sunscreen as well as a couple lipsticks, including one of the balm sticks you recommended! Thanks for the recommendations!
What a thorough review of the available K beauty products - I really appreciate this! I thought Beauty of J. Dynasty cream was for dry skin , I like it. I will have to try the other one you mentioned. You said you tried a ton, so thanks for relaying that! :)
Another great cleansing balm in my opinion is the Pyunkang Yul deep clear cleansing balm! Also a cleanser I think is so nice that seems like it would work for all skin types is the Isntree green tea fresh cleanser.
The HaruHaru black rice toner is what got me in to skincare. I had no idea about anything skincare, and thought moisturiser was pretty much the only thing. Now, I've got toners and serums and masks and exfoliating stuff and retinol. (K-beauty is great for retinol beginners as they are usually very clear about the type and the percentage.) And my skin has never looked better! No more of the acne I've had since I was a teenager! So, 40 is not too old to start caring for your skin! 😅
Also, I have combination skin and never really bothered with moisturiser unless it was really dry. Now, the toners do lost of the hydrating, but I'll probably use some light cream during the winter when the heating is on and it gets dry.
girl for heavier moisturizers try the purito dermide relief moisturizer (the blue pump bottle), the isntree yam root moisturizer and the purito mighty bamboo panthenol cream ( this last one is less heavy/oily, but it is just like a water bomb to the skin, it´s amazing)
Ever since you first recommended the Romand Glasting Melting Balm, I have been loving all the colors I got, the way my lips feel while wearing it is amazing. I have also tried the viral TirTir compact foundation, it is good for me when I need an all day makeup look, but I can't wear it every day it feels too heavy on my skin. I did get one of the TirTir Waterism Glow Tint in Summer Pumpkin and I love it.
I have watched some of those Asian beauty shows, and the layers snd layers of products they put on, then make-up, then at night, the cleansing and layers of layers of skin care again, no wonder their skin is good, but i just cant live on 2 hours of sleep a night!!😂😂😂😂😂 it must take hours to do all those layers!! Yes, i bought some eye shadow palettes in Japan, they looked pretty, but the very darkest in the whole palette only just shows up, they take the time to put on all these colours, only to hardly see a thing!!😂😂
I have only used K and J beauty sunscreens for the last 5+ years. So good, I will never go back to western sunscreens. My favourite is Nivea Super water gel - it comes in a pump bottle and you can get refills for it. ❤❤
Good morning Jen, I’ve purchased many K-Beauty products based on your recommendations and I’m so happy with them, now i have to try some of those lippies, 28% off at IHerb, yes please, they ship fast as well.❤
I use the korean/japanese mascara to hold my lashes lifted after using my lash curler. But you usually need a mascara remover from korea/japan to get it off again. they stick!
Hi Jen, Thank you I thought it was me. GEL creams do not work or sink into my skin at all. I find the gels just sit on too of my skin and doesn't sink in at all. I love the Beauty of Josson sunscreen.
I remember Sea Breeze, it was the worst of the worst product ever. I tried it when I was a teen and it burned my acne and caused inflammation. Thank goodness my mom got me to a dermatologist straight away.
Love this video Jen! Thank you. I'm just now discovering K beauty (because of a prior video you did) and received my first iherb order a few days ago. Love the products. I'm going to pick up a few things from this video too! Thanks for the heads up about their sale. ☺
Anua Intense Calming Cream is fragrance free and moisturizing enough for someone like me who lives in the high desert with extremely dry conditions. I think you need to look for barrier creams instead of conventional moisturizers… they are typically fragrance free
Hey Jen! Seems my notifications are always late in coming to me; it's 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, and I just got this video from you in my feed. Anyway, I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your indepth dives into various product categories; it seems every other YTer I watch just does a quick hit on too many random brands. For my use of K-beauty, I've been loving the HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice with Bakuchiol EYE cream. Very soft, sinks in fast, and has given a somewhat smoother look to my undereye steamer trunks in just a few weeks. I won't use any kind of retinol/-al/-oid products due to rosacea, so the bakuchiol alternative seems perfect for me. Ive also been using a Fermentation Eye Cream by Benton; this one seems to settle in a bit faster so it works when I want to wear a full eyeshadow-over-concealer look but don't want to wait forever to start the process. Staying away from acids - and snail slime yuck! - has steered me into use of fermentation products, and my skin has been so happy, I've crossed my fear of online shopping to get more of Physicians Formula The Essence of Healthy spray toner, which, though it's from an American company, seems to have emulated K-beauty with its 95% Galactomyces ferment formula. My cheeks look turned on and smooth - not bad for a random find at TJMaxx that originally attracted me with its super stylish square bottle with a chrome cap. Some of my random finds have been good surprises, and this one is worth keeping in my regimen even if online is the only place I can get it. Sorry this message is so long - a new phone with a glass screen protector means I have to spend alot of time editing and correcting the first round d of gibberish in any message, so I'm going to make it worth my time and share generously any info I may have that might help someone else. You're looking lovely lately, and thanks always for the videos!
Hi Jen ! If you want to try a moisturizer that is richer and unscented you should take a look at Pyunkang yul’s Ato Cream blue label. It has thin texture but still nourishing 😊 Thanks a lot for your amazing videos ! 💚

Thanks Jen! I've been needing some exfoliating toner, this was perfect timing!
Try the Pyung Kang Yul creams in the blue jars. Occlusive! And you might like the Pacifica Vegan Ceramide Cream as well. :)
Olive Young is a company, not a brand?
@@cindyb9830 Yes, Olive Young is a chain store like Sephora or Ulta.
@@cindyb9830 It's Korea's version of Sephora, it's the top cosmetic store in South Korea. They also have a branch in Canada so they can deliver to the US much more quickly than say, StyleKorean or Stylevana. Although their prices are usally a little higher than the other two.
@LariTanner Thank you for explaining! I was hoping that it was a brand I haven't heard of.😂
@@SimplySandra413 thank you for mentioning that, I’m going to check it out
Have you ever considered pouring your toner into a spray bottle? I use my old setting spray bottle that has a nice mister. I feel like I can use more layers…more effectively 😊
I love this idea!
I do the same thing but with an old Omorovicza 1oz glass mist bottle. It has the finest mist of any mist/spray I've ever used. I'll cry is I ever break it. Wished it came in a plastic bottle so I could take on vacays!
Yes- it works so well!
Thank you so much for the recommendations!! :)
Love the Oat cream! Bought a few starting two years ago. I use it with my Retinal or Retinoic Acid.
I use Pyunkang Yul black tea cream and also their eye patches..love both of them. No fragrance
I love torriden solid in cream.
Even the name sounds good blackberry cream 🤤
Hands down, this is the BEST moisturizer for dry skin
Like this too. At first you might think it seems really light how will it work but it just does. Another one I LOVE is Goodal vegan rice milk moisturizing cream. Heavenly!!
@@Monica-gene1 I have to check this out. Laneige cream skin refiner is too rich for me.
For a thick moisturizer that is fragrance-free and extremely gentle, you might like Pyunkang Yul Black Tea Enriched Cream in the black jar. I also like this brand’s Intensive Repair Moisturizer Cream in the blue jar. Both are very good!
I’m late to the party but I 💯agree. I have dry/dehydrated skin and both are amazing!!
Yes to the Ato creams, they are very good!
Thanks for this! I have dry skin and love a thick cream foe night.
I tried this as an oily skin person and it was way too heavy for me. I think it’s def best for dry skin types
Completely agree the purito is magic.
I love the Cos RX snail mucin eye cream- but I find that I can actually use this on my entire face! It doesn’t burn (moisturizer can burn when my skin is dry and irritated during the cold winter months). It is so soothing and fragrance free.
I just started using this and really like it so far! I also use the cosrx toner and snail essence and really like them .
I love how honest you are on your reviews. I too use K beauty skin care. One other person I watch for k beauty skin care is Kelly Driscoll. She breaks it down for different skin types as well as how to pair certain ingredients.
I love Kelly Driscoll! Her channel has been so helpful. ☺️
Thanks to you I have become obsessed with the Fwee pots. They are so cute and wear so well!
I found the HaruHaru sunscreen through you, and it's my absolute favorite. It even beats out my old favorite - Unseen Sunscreen. Thank you so much for this recommendation!
Me too! It’s so good!!
Do you use the black or yellow (I believe) tube?
Here's the others that I love:
Wet n Wild Bare Focus Tinted Veil
NYX Bare With Me Tinted Veil
Loreal Infallible Up to 24H Fresh Wear Foundation
Maybelline Super Stay Up to 24H Skin Tint
Loreal True Match Hyaluronic Tinted Serum.
I also did end up getting two Dasique palettes as they were on sale recently- I know you said you weren’t the biggest fan but I personally really like the glitter topper shades and the subtle colors, as those are easier for me to work with. 😅
I really appreciate this comment. Thank you for such a thorough explanation! I speak Japanese but can read only a little of it, and no Korean at all, so I’m very grateful!
@@simbryce4475 You’re welcome! 😄 I’m so glad I could be helpful 💖
I took a screenshot of your comment, because I have been buying k-beauty for years now and wanted to try j beauty. I have purchased products that don’t have English writing on them (although most do). I appreciate the knowledge! 😊
@@loco7357 I’m glad you found it helpful! 😊💖
You might try the Clio Kill Lash. They have several formulas. It's hard to get off but I LOVE the big curly fan of lashes it gives me!
Love this mascara!
@@frescazzz7536they have mascara removers , it makes it so much easy to take off
yes it hard to get off but kill lash is so good
I really appreciate your encyclopedic knowledge of these brands that I would never be exposed to otherwise, thank you ❤
Jen - have you tried the ILLIYOON - Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream?
Pyunkang is great!
@@Aristaifly check the Monodist for retinol in Korea.
@@catherinelynnfraser2001 thank you but i don't think i will. I have a lot from boxes that i need to finish before i close the kbeauty retinol chapter.
I LOVE Klairs Midnight Blue - repeat purchase for me several times... won't be without it xo
I've heard retinol actually isn't popular in Korea because they generally find it to be too harsh. Bakuchiol is supposedly more popular.
I like the snail mucen moisturizers in Korean skin care!!!
The Numbizin cream #4 Full Nutrient Firming Cream is a really good moisturizer in a tube (which I love).
This is probably my favourite mist of all time. I’ve never met a better dispensing system and the product is fabulous!
@@simbryce4475 Agreed!!
Yes, Love the TonyMoly Ceramide Mochi Milky Toner and Secret Key Toner
The Beauty of Joseon cleansing balm is fragrance free and amazing. 😊 toners have been a game changer for me as well
You are talking about beauty while you are the beauty itselfe❤❤❤
Your background looks super cute btw I really enjoy the vibe!! And the information very much !! Thank you for sharing!!
Jen, you are so consistent and relatable. Keep up the excellent work ❤
The Heimish cleansing balm is fantastic, and even a better deal than the elf one! I love the Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Water Fit Sun Serum and the Tonymoly Ceramide Mocchi Toner (though that is fragranced). (ETA: I'm a big fan of the CosRx snail essence, but I know it's not for everyone!)
My favorite find is the I'm MEME I'm Pep!
@@JenPhelps I used mine all summer, and there's barely a dent!
I can't thank you enough for recommending the HaruHaru sunscreen, I've been using it ever since your sunscreen rec video! ❤
lol building my iHerb order as I watch; thanks Jen!

Aw thank you!!
@@Pamela-B Laneige, Tocobo and Torriden all have amazing lip balms or overnight lip masks.
Loved this video❤❤ Such thorough content and pleasant delivery!!!
I’m From has beautiful Rice-based skincare and the rice cream is gorgeous and unscented, the toner and serum is incredible too
Came back to add that I have been absolutely loving CosRx, Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser.
Oh Jen you just gave me more fun options to look at!! I love the haru haru toner. 🎉
I found the BOJ dynasty cream and the cleansing balm at Marshalls the other day for super cheap i mean its already cheap but its there along with abunch of other K beauty products. I was super surprised to see.
Living in a hot and humid climate….i prefer the thinner lotions. I very much appreciate your thorough reviews.
Jen ,
Thank you, helps even with you being considerably younger.
Bc you also are fair skin and dry its a lot of help ❤ Thanks
As much as I enjoy Korean skincare and makeup, I feel like Japanese products were a precursor and I wish they could have a greater share of the spotlight. Many of my long-time favorites are J beauty and I wanna give ‘em a shout out.
Totally agree!!!! J beauty do the best hair care too!!!!
Let me know what some of your favorites are and I'll try them! :)
Great video as per usual ❤ I love the Heimish dailism tubing mascara. It's one of my most favorite mascaras ever.
Light texture of moisturizers and heavy fragrance are because of cultural preferences. Thinking that a thicker moisturizer will do a better job is just a placebo. BTW, I don't use Korean creams because I also prefer heavier textures (because of my cultural preference).
Pyunkang Yul makes some thicker moisturizers - Calming Cream + others. (Not thick but lovely is Cosrx Sleeping Mask. So calming)

(K-beauty is great for retinol beginners as they are usually very clear about the type and the percentage.)
And my skin has never looked better!
Thanks so much for this video! I've been curious but didn't know where to start!
girl for heavier moisturizers try the purito dermide relief moisturizer (the blue pump bottle), the isntree yam root moisturizer and the purito mighty bamboo panthenol cream ( this last one is less heavy/oily, but it is just like a water bomb to the skin, it´s amazing)
I love korean moisturizer, toner, sunscreen, and lip balms.
This was so helpful. Great job putting this together.
Love this video Jen! Thank you. I'm just now discovering K beauty (because of a prior video you did) and received my first iherb order a few days ago. Love the products. I'm going to pick up a few things from this video too! Thanks for the heads up about their sale. ☺
What a great video Jen! ❤
Cleanser suggestion. Esfolio cleansing foam. TJ Maxx or Marshall’s- $4.99. The best!
It has thin texture but still nourishing 😊
Thanks a lot for your amazing videos ! 💚
The Scinic super mild sun essence is a great Korean sunscreen. The texture is a water gel cream. Feels wonderful on the skin.
I'll never quit thinking of a "toner" as an astringent for some reason.
@@tessy7210 Korean “toners” are totally different! Many are so amazing. As well as their toner pads. Nothing like what we’re use to here. Game changers.
It's taken using a hydrating one to change my thinking!
Great video Jen! Really helpful!❤
Loved this!! Thank you for the recommendations!
