Thank you for making this great video. I saw somewhere says you need to put a special Loctite on the plugs and it's expensive like $50 or more for a small tube. Did you put anything on or just tighter the plugs? Do you have a video for front differential fluid change too?
@@danieleriksson1657I changed the transfer case fluid today at 122,800 miles (197,600 KM) on my 2013 Mercedes ML-350 4matic for the first time. The fluid was pretty DARK...you are correct. However my rear diff fluid wasn't that bad...and has never been changed either...
Is the front and rear differential using the same type of fluid? Thank you! I have a 2018 Gle 350 4 matic with 55k miles. Is it OK to use mobile1 75w90 like yours?
No need to replace the plug...why waste money?? I mean it's not like a crush washer or a rubber washer gasket or o-ring that can only be one time used only...😂😅
Your videos are the best.
You should do a transmission fluid change.
thanks

I did not use loctite. No issues ok it’s torques properly
You have a 14 mm hex shown in the video but you are saying 16 mm. Which one is the correct one?
14mm
I do the differential and transfer case oil with the transmission every 25K on my GL W166.
Might be too often in my opinion...
@@prandomable it's not too often for the transfer case, that contains a chain that wears fast without clean oil.

The front and rear should take the same gear oil.
15NM or 50 NM???
torqued. Thank you
50 NM (fifty) on the differential plugs (both).
FCP Euro says torque to 37 ft lbs.

Replacing the plug is recommended in the service manual. Do you absolutely have to? No, but they are pretty cheap and meant to be replaced.
@@letsrolldiyauto1532 yeah. Make sense. They are super cheap. And to 100% make sure there will be (no leak) is to use new plug...
