No, it doesn't. If your check light comes on, meaning that you did something wrong while you cleaned it. My check light used to come on while I cleaned my throttle body. I meant I spray directly to the throttle body without using the towel.

Mine is the same too. It’s just Honda engine I think. However, I would recommend you to clean throttle body, and mass air flow sensor. When it is dirty, it causes sometimes like that happen. Just do those two things and see the results.

Do you need to disconnect the battery before cleaning the mass airflow sensor?
To be safe, you can disconnect the battery wire. If you know how to clean, you don't have to disconnect it and make sure it should be dry.
