Technical tips using the Lowrance EliteFS unit

Jono Bleakley offers a few technical tips using the EliteFS chart plotter.
Jono runs us through a little tip when it comes to plotting marks in an open estuary. It's one thing to find a good mark when we first get a sounder, but its a different story after a few years when that one mark turns into 200. Take the time you map your screen with the 50 different icons that Lowrance covers, and know what different habitat system, matches up with that mark - that way when you look at the screen from above, you have a blueprint of your estuary.

Jono - I have a Lowrance Elite FS 9 - I use it for SI. I have it set up on the starboard side of my pontoon fishing boat. I deploy the Lowrance transducer when I get to my target fishing area. So, the transducer is out of the water, while I am under power at high speeds and not trolling speeds. I have another unit with the transducer mounted on the transom for traveling at cruising speed. My question is - Can I turn on my Lowrance Elite FS9 unit for GPS, while the transducer is out of the water, without damaging the transducer? Thanks, Bernie

Once I’ve set a way point like the boat ramp on a big lake, if let’s say I’m 5 miles from it and made several turns . How do I get back to the boat ramp using the map ? ? Please explain in detail . It would be much appreciated

I have a Lowrance Elite 5 with gps. Yes, I know it is old. I just purchased it used. It is running 1.4 software. I would like to update it but I cannot find the older updates to work my way up to the latest one. It will not load or run the current updates listed on the website.
