Hiya! This is Dione, currently in Virginia! Chris, still in the UK, did say he would comment. But, I don't see one so I'll happily say, well done, Dan on the chopping 😂. I have to admit there's a knack to it that I often don't get right, but so far all my digits are accounted for 😂. Wow and wow, another great video! Sort of puts Cheddar Gorge in a smaller perspective 😂😂. Thanks for the shout out ❤❤. As always, you made my Sunday a great way to wake up, all be it, 5 hours later than usual. 😂 love you guys and keep on 'trucking' xxx
Hey Dione! So glad you made it to Virginia okay. Hopefully the jet lag wasn't too bad! Haha thank you, I really have tried to adopt that technique with my fingers when chopping now, but for some things it feels impossible to do as you can't hold the item down properly. Mostly it works though 😁 Glad you enjoyed the video, the area did blow us away, for the sheer scale of it. Let's not downplay Cheddar Gorge though, that's a unique little place in its own right with not much else like it, we love it there, overpriced cheese and everything 😂 Have a good time in America, I bet your parents are glad to see you. Take care 🥰❤️
Good morning to my favourite van lifers. All I gotta say on this one is wow. Those views are breathtaking. Good views in the pool too 😊. Think I pay the 20 for the lift tho. I'll see you at the top lol. Another feel good video
Good Morning Paul 🥰 We were dumbstruck by these mountains and the village, they were like nothing we'd ever seen before and certainly nothing like you'd get back in the UK. So pleased we went! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and the pool, can't say we enjoyed the pool much though 😂 Stephen is not a fan of hikes, but he's much less of a fan of paying 20 quid for a 7 minute lift 😂 Definitely a lot easier though, and means you could enjoy a beer at the top without worrying about stumbling back down the path 😁 Thank you Paul, best wishes to you and have a good week ❤️
Good morning! My word those Spanish mountains were the very essence of awesome! Love the medieval towns too! That mountain town feels like the European mini version of macchu piccu. 😅 How do you find these places?! Very thankful for the images, my mind wanders as you wander. Very moo-ving at certain points. 🎼Cooper trooper, coos are gonna moo you...just keep trotting on 🎶 Nice recipe, the chicken porridge sounds tasty. I never peel carrot or potatoes. Just give them a rinse. Looking forward to next weeks adventure! Cheers from a chilly (not chili) Skåne! ❤
Good Morning to you in Skåne 🥰 We were indeed blown away by the scenery here, those mountains were so spiky and vertical in places, terrifying but utterly mesmerising. The Picos are very famous here so there wasn't too much searching required on that front, but we do get inspiration from the travels of others- or, more usually, about the day before I'll start looking a region up that we're in, and home in whatever looks interesting 😁 Usually it works out and feels a lot less pressure than following an entirely planned itinerary. I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway and hopefully it showcased how gorgeous the area was, though of course it goes without saying that it can never do justice to seeing it in person. I loved that mooing cow shot so much I used it 3 times in this video 😂 Best wishes to you back in Sweden and I hope you get some sunny (if inevitably chilly) days over the coming weeks 🥰
Oh Bulnes! We really would love to think we could live there (probably not). Was a little gutted you got to meet the mountain cows on the hike, suppose thats our punishment for take the funicular through the mountain. Although that in itself was an amazing experience, but mountain cows! Yes please. See you on the road, much love Darren & Alison 🤟❤
Aah thank you guys! 😍 I'm so pleased you went there in your video, otherwise we'd have had no idea and would've probably walked the more famous gorge trail instead- which I'm sure would've been wonderful, but I'm glad we did this one instead. Bulnes was delightful enough to want to live there in theory, but, isolation aside, I'd be more concerned about what the hell those mountain tops might be capable of bringing down, especially in the winter 😬 The cows felt like they were put there to add the final pretty touch to a painting, as their bells echoed in the valley. Some parts you could barely fathom how they got there, but they were very cute, scary horns aside. Yes hopefully see you on the road again, have fun and safe travels. Much love 🤟❤️
😂 I really didn't think he'd be that "unbothered" by it. Maybe we've just been spoiled! I did adore it though and would certainly say if it was underwhelming, but I usually try to pick places for us to visit where that won't happen 😁
Hello Mattias, thank you, and very pleased you enjoyed the video 😍 We had a great time visiting these places and even Stephen enjoyed the walk...I think 🤔 😂
You're very welcome, I know it was a brief segment, but hope you enjoyed it. It was a fascinating place and well worth the entry fee. The paintings were in great condition really, very colourful 😍
It was such a unique place, we were blown away by the houses sitting among these rocky giants away from civilisation. Definitely not a place for everyone but beautiful nonetheless. So glad you enjoyed it, thank you ❤️ 🥰
Good Morning! 🌞 That's dedication, the first to comment, we love to see it 😁 I'm glad you enjoyed the video, but most importantly, I'm glad you've got some sunshine! It's perked up a bit here too after some grey days. Thank you and have a good Sunday ❤️
Morning Lindsay! Yes it was a stunner and I thought of Nepal too, even if it's a lot lower down than Nepal, but it had that look to it. Very unique place to experience. Thank you and have a good week ❤️
To keep your mushrooms from going off in the fridge, take them out of the plastic wrap and pop them into a brown lunch bag. They'll keep much longer and the worst that will happen is they'll dehydrate, which makes them still good for a stew or anything with water so they can rehydrate again. I live in a small village in the mountains. Thank heavens the Trans-Canada Highway #1 passes right by us. Not as much traffic, since they built the Coquihalla Highway, but still lots of semis, who don't want to pay the toll, manage to drive by. And tourists come into the village for a rest stop and lunch at The Packing House restaurant. Back in the day, when it was mostly orchards here, they packed apples for the King of England. I have two apple trees, an ancient gnarled apricot, two pear, a red plum and too many purple plum trees in my back garden. Cheers. Jon in rural BC, Canada
Jon you're selling us a fairytale there, if we ever get to Canada, sounds like we should visit your village 😍 I'm glad people do stop by to visit - I imagine many, many places in Canada don't have that option unless someone happens by out of chance. Thank you for that mushroom tip - we will try that. Usually we'll buy them loose anyway if there's an option, but not always. How lovely for you to have all those trees - I assume you reap the rewards of your crop each season, but as you say, there's only so many plums you can pick! I am however stunned they packed off apples for the King of England at any point - I would've thought we had enough back here! They must be mighty fine apples 😁 Thanks Jon ❤️
@@comealongdear My neighbour across the road is a big canner. She pruned my fruit trees so she gets half the bounty. That works for me as they just fall to the ground to feed the black bears before hibernation. The bears are the reason for too many purple plums. Their scat is full of plum pits. Ouch! :) You guys are welcome any time. But my house is only 546 sq. ft. so I'll take my camping cot out of the minivan and sleep in the living room. :) Cheers. Jon in rural BC, Canada
Black bears in the garden, I mean I'm sure that's entirely normal to you, but it sounds so wild and exotic to us! Are they ever dangerous or are they the sort to keep to themselves? Funnily enough close to where we were in this video is a very small population of brown bears, I think only about 3-400 exist in Spain, but their population is slowly growing again. Excellent that there's someone in the village who enjoys canning, it makes sense with all those goods of nature each year. And thank you for the offer, after our little van, sleeping in a shed would seem like a mansion to be honest 🤪 Take care 🙂
Hi Guys, greetings from sunny Corfu, we managed to pick up a month long sit here as we are also trying to avoid as much of the UK winter as possible! Another great video, Really inspired to visit Picos De Europa - it looks amazing! x
Hello! Oh how wonderful, you've made the right choice there, and a whole month too 😍 The Picos have so much more than what we showed, including a couple of well known hikes, so I'd say definitely worth the visit but you would surely need transport - although saying that, I think in the warmer months a bus runs from Las Arenas up to some of the main trail starts (including the one we did) 😁 Have a great time in Corfu, I hope you get to enjoy some of the island while you're there ❤️
Wow what a beautiful but difficult village to get to Dan and Steve, it's really lovely, however I certainly wouldn't want to live there but would be nice to visit, and that very nice couple you both met up with they seem like really nice people and their beautiful furbaby, thank you both for yet another great video
Good Morning Michael, lovely to hear from you as always 😍 Bulnes was very surreal, especially with a bar and restaurant at the top! But with the lift, of course access is easier now, though even then it must be rather awkward to get up and down to do your shopping etc! I'm not sure how many people live there full-time but I think there are some. Others leave during the winter. Jane, Mark and Cooper were a pleasure to spend the day with and great company on the walk too 😁 Thank you Michael, have a great week 🙏🥰
@comealongdear thanks to you both for that wonderful video, I too am just wondering how the people who live there full time manage, perhaps they live off the livestock, I just wouldn't want to have to do that, but well done to Steve for climbing, I didn't think he would
What amazing and beautiful places you take us too! Thank you for sharing as always. Glad you’re having some good weather - we had one nice day this week and then back to grey and rain at the moment plus it’s getting colder now (but damp cold, not the nice dry cold). Well done for doing that climb, it looked a challenge but with a great reward and feeling of achievement afterwards. Love how you just make up recipes as you go along - I’m sure that’s the way all good recipes start. Stay well and safe. ❤️❤️
You're very welcome Michael, and yes we wondered that too, but there was livestock at the top so it seems possible. But definitely harsh! It might be that some people can just afford to live there and so income isn't an issue, I don't know. Steve didn't moan about the hike at all I don't think, who'd have thunk it 😁
Hi Irene, I hope you're well 🥰 Sorry that you're lacking in the sunny days, typical UK! The damp cold is indeed much worse than the dry cold, which feels infinitely more tolerable. The UK lives in a permanent state of damp though it seems! The hike was an effort and you definitely had to be careful, but with such beautiful scenery we couldn't moan, it made it all worthwhile ❤️ Thank you and hope you have a good week 🥰
Thank you very much, it always makes us smile (even Stephen!) to know and read if people have enjoyed the content and the places we've been, so thank you for your lovely feedback, we appreciate it 🥰🙏
Great scenery, but we have vaguely similar here in Scotland. You're eating healthily and show us what you have and how you prepare it, which is good. Snow here!
Still waiting for that call to publish my cookbook, not sure why it hasn't happened 😜 Yep it might seem surprising but it was all Stephen's idea - I'd never given it a thought or was even aware of people doing it until he brought it up one day. He is much more into the idea of living in a van and escaping the rat race routine than the hiking and seeing things side, but of course if I'm coming along then inevitably exploration has to be part of it 😉 I do think he enjoys much of that too though, and is grateful to see all these places...even if that's not always (or ever) obvious 😂 Take care on the other side of the world! ❤️
As long as he is happy, was he bullied into showing happiness as a child? I found a can of dad joke cards at the charity shop where I work and by the time I got to 'six of snow white's dwarfs arnt happy' I was in hysterics. Laughter really is the best medicine. Does he enjoy a good tickle? 😜
No nothing like that, but we've all got pasts that shape us and our personalities. He is honestly fine, and he does love to laugh, we often watch funny things together or joke about stuff. These videos are just snapshots, I mean I might seem the more positive one, but equally I'm far more likely to be extreme in my emotions, have major depressive lulls, meltdowns etc, than Steve is. But I'm not going to film that 😂 While if you were to meet us, you'd fine us pretty much exactly like we are in the videos, they of course still only tell a small portion of the story and of us as people. Those cards sound brilliant, and exactly why we love charity shops 😁
Thank you, we're so pleased you enjoyed it, it's lovely to get such positive feedback as well ❤️ Which bit of music do you mean? The cathedral beach part? Let me know which bit and I'll take a look for you 😊
Aah thank you Sally, that is good to know 😍 They are great, we buy them all the time here but you don't seem to see the long green ones in the UK so often

26:38 I'm loving what Steve has done with his window treatment, that ruched pelmet is something else!
Not bad for just a second-hand scarf wrapped around the rail! (And temporary until we bother to get a proper curtain fixed)
Love how honest Steven is ( um yeah it was OK yawns ) as Dan saying how wonderful the town is. Sunday again good work boys
😂 I really didn't think he'd be that "unbothered" by it. Maybe we've just been spoiled! I did adore it though and would certainly say if it was underwhelming, but I usually try to pick places for us to visit where that won't happen 😁
I was knackered after that hike I need a few days to recover 😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
😂 So did we, it was a lot more gruelling than it seemed, but the company and chat on the way up made it go quite quickly 😁
Always so lovely to see you. Beautiful video. I hope you have a very nice day. 😃👍❤️
