    Well said. We should all try to remember that we can’t fulfill God’s law perfectly, but still want to honor and love him.

      You don’t honor God if you can’t love your neighbor first. All these idiots who claim to love God oh so much apparently didn’t get BIG theme in the New Testament that states NOBODY loves God first, not a single human being. And that the only way you can truly love God is if you love you’re neighbors too. You cannot do one or the other, you have to love both God and your neighbor or you love neither. There is no “law” that needs to be abided by men. Satan is the one who uses laws as a standard, not God.

    I totally agree. I was recently humbled by attending a sermon on Jesus’s message to the church of Sardis. They had a ‘good’ reputation of being ‘alive’, but Jesus called a spade a spade - “you are dead”. It is good to wake up and repent from holding to your “good Christian” reputation instead of holding on to Christ. Your reputation is not going to save you, but Christ can and He will if you humble yourself and repent from this sin and turn to Christ for salvation.

      yea man you say not to trust your own reputation but then in the same passage say to "repent from sin" which is essentially saying follow the law?

      @@nice8401 Hey there, to answer your question, I believe it means to regret and ask/pray to God to forgive you of any sins you've committed/ any temptations you couldn't resist/ anyone you've done wrong/ any bad practices or thoughts/ amongst many other things.       @Nice Hey there again (regarding my gender, I'm a female/sister. I'm sorry if my username confused you.) To answer your question, I wanna start off by saying I don't remember much of anything about Exodus because I don't think I've read it yet to be completely honest. This is the first time I've seen the bible mention God "repenting," so I had to look up commentary about the specific verse. However, I did wanna mention another thing in the bible that God did that was confusing to me at first: regret. In Genesis Chapter 6, verses 6 and 7, it talks about God regretting having made made man because of all their sin. Also, in 1 Samuel Chapter 15, verse 11, God talks about regretting making Saul king because Saul ended up taking his own life. I was confused by this, but I found out/realized that we tend to look at words like "repent" and "regret" in human terms/in our own eyes. However, we can't put God to our standard of those feelings. He is infinitely much greater than we as people could ever dream to be. So our standards will never match up to his. While regret can mean feeling bad about a mistake made, it can also just mean feeling sorrow and hurt. God was hurt in that moment because Saul took his life, and he was hurt because of all the sin that man did. It's the same concept with repentance. Repentance for God meant he changed his mind about destroying all of his creation, meaning us, because of Moses's prayer (In exodus chapter 32, verses 9-14. You can read before that to get more context, but those verses pertain the most to this concept). He didn't have to, but he chose to show mercy towards us despite all our sins/transgressions. Again, repentance for man and repentance for God are very different: different concepts, different standards. I hoped this helped you in any way (sorry for the long paragraph, just wanted to make sure I got every concept you were concerned about down to the best of my ability to make possibly you understand clearly.) Hope you have a good one, and if you need to ask anymore questions, feel free. I'll try to help the best way I can. (Oh btw, just wanted to let you know that I don't know much about the bible yet in its entirety. I'm relatively on the younger side and I learn from people in my family. However, I always try my best to interpret scripture and what I learn about God and his word from others the right way. There's a lot of people that know much more than me haha.

    I'm a bad person. A sinful creature deserving of death. I cant be good, only God can be good. Im incapable of being a good Christian, i can only be a Christian. Im a scumbag, but i don't want to be. Jesus saved me from myself, despite how much i screw up.

    I'm on the opposite end, feeling like I'm always a bad christian, a false christian. I know that's human nature, the nature of sin and that through Christ Jesus we are saved but I feel like I don't deserve it and so I should perish.

      I'm the same. My anxiety issues might be tied to being afraid I will commit a grievous sin and receive severe chastening from God. I thank God for His mercy and grace, but I mess up everyday and I'm afraid because I always mess up, every single day. 😔

    The Apostle Paul said in romans O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? If the apostle Paul himself is willing to admit that he isn't good at all why are so many trying and claiming to be "Good". The truth is we arent saved by being "Good" we are saved by the Grace of Jesus Christ.

    A lot of people get salvation mixed up with sanctification. You can never lose your salvation if you have truly accepted God's gift. A gift can't be earned, and once it's given God does not take it away. You are saved through faith not acts. It is encouraged to work out your faith and store your treasures in heaven, but if someone becomes a Christian a second before they die, no one can close heaven’s gates on them. Same for a Christian who continues to fall short of God's glory. God will chasten them but they will still make it into heaven.

      @@_risen So these verses relate to our Spirit. It's said in Thessalonians we have a Spirit, Soul, and Body. When we accept Christ we become born again, and are changed in the Spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17). But our Soul and Body need renewal. Either way, being born again gives us a new spirit. The old *has* passed away! But we still need to work on renewing our minds and souls!

    Oh this is really good. I think one of my biggest struggles is I always feel like I'm bothering people, so sometimes I have a tendency to try to deal with stuff on my own because I don't want to bother God. I know it's such a bad mentality to have, so I'm working on it. I think in my mind God is busy running the entire Universe, so it can be a challenge to feel like I should bring my dumb problems to Him. They just feel so insignificant in comparison to all the big stuff. This is definitely something I'm working on.

    I’ve been reading small snippets of the Bible to our son (He’s 8). Just 5 or 10 verses at a time. I think he’s got the gist of the Gospel. However, he asked something to the effect: if we do work to cancel the sin Jesus’s sacrifice can’t make up. I clarified, that no, that is not exactly it! So many religions (even the mainstream Catholic and Protestant churches are guilty of this) are works based. The trouble is with that, people actually have no clue what really happens after they leave this world! People must read their Bible. The Bible is very clear. We repent, put our trust in Jesus. And the Holy Spirit guides us. The Holy Spirit is what guides us and helps us stay away from sin! People have commented that they notice a difference in my personality. Frankly, I am humbled. The glory goes to Jesus for that! 🙏

    Thank you for this video today, it’s confirmed a lot of things I’ve been doing and where Gods been calling me to be. I know too when I was younger I struggled with lust too, I’d find it so hard to forgive myself when I’d give into temptation, the guilt from it would overwhelm me. I was stuck in a place of repetition and as much as I’d try to stop myself, it would keep coming back. As I’ve come to know God, and see his power and his overflowing grace for me, I’ve learned to seek him first when temptation comes. Seeing his goodness has allowed me to want to strive to do better/ know that I can be more than who I thought I was. And I know I can because Gods a Lord of mercy, forgiveness, and change. And I realized I had to set my pride and guilt down to allow him to change my heart. To let him fill it with his Holy Spirit rather than all the lust and guilt I had. I’m still not perfect today, only God is perfect, but knowing that he’s perfect for me, that I don’t need to uphold those expectations has helped me so much more in my relationship with God and humbling myself down before him in knowing how much he can use my imperfections for his goodness, and where he meets that imperfection with his grace. ❤

    Thanks for the video Isaac. I was the same way as a kid. I always did my best. I did what my parents asked me to without question. (I didn't have any siblings to compete with so that made things easier. You have seven siblings?) I later realized that I was doing it to earn their love. At the time though I thought that I was just being a good kid. Then I became a Christian and I learned (still learning) that I can't be perfect. It's something that I still struggle with. When I was a kid and I did something wrong I would get so mad at myself. I thought that I had to be perfect. It really upset me when I didn't do things right.

      Put all your strength, mind, and soul into God himself, as well as treating your neighbors like you want to be treated. These are the 2 greatest commandments. Jesus loves you, and continue to pray and repent, for Jesus came for the sick and the sinners.

    I relate to this so much. I think this is one of the pitfalls that can come from growing up in a Christian home, but I’m so thankful that I was eventually able to learn and grow beyond the “good Christian” mindset and be honest with God. Thank you for talking about this!

    Hey Issac. This is a good topic. I think people take it to both extremes. For example too many people think they they can sin always,but the other people misuse verses like Hebrews 10:26 to think we can never have a sin struggle again. That's why God changes us through sanctification.

    It’s never about our “good deeds” before God. Maybe not even about ME repenting and cooperating With God, but rather the respond to His call, finally opening this door of my heart and letting Jesus in❤️
    The One who creates all new in me, Who writes down His law on my heart.
    My ego, my nature has been crucified on that cross, I’m free to follow my Saviour, Who paid the biggest imaginable price in the whole Universe for me when I was still a sinner.
    I believe His righteousness is more than enough for all of us ❤️

    Yesterday, I was outside my high school, and I saw a kid get shoved to the floor infront of me. Initially, I was shocked, but it took me about 30 seconds after it happened to approach the kid and ask if he was okay. He was unwilling to talk to me, which was expected, but I felt a deep sense of inadequacy after, Because I felt like being a "Good Christian" meant that I should've immediately rendered aid, no matter what it meant for my safety. But now reflecting back on the incident, I know that God moved exactly how he wanted to, and mabye I could've been more involved, but ultimately it's not my decision how God uses me to impact those around me. Praise his name!

    That's what i realized really fast and i try my best to be humble and honest before God and have that intimate Father to son relationship and it is beautiful. Since i am babe in Christ still as it's about half year since I've started belonging to Him,i enjoy His presence very much and our intimacy and His presence to me as as sweet as a honey and is like a milk to me. To me, it's all about Jesus,its about having relationship restored thanks to that beautiful blood that was shed on the cross,having intimate relationship with God and spreading the Gospel so more can be saved and experience what you do.
    But many still make it about themselves and their works and obedience and all that and it saddens me,it doesn't seem like they have relationship with God but with their works that btw does nothing for them but sin. Surrender to Almighty Jesus and love Him, Honestly love Him with all thy heart,mind,soul and strength,amen. We are under grace and not law and we are covered by that beautiful blood,it is finished so why therefore are we making it about us again and our works? God still loves us all but it seems like there are many who don't have relationships with Him but the law He gave and they think they must be "good" and obey the law nonetheless...Where is your faith and intimate love for Him?
    Please please please,have intimate relationship with Him,it is finished,all of it is and now rest in Him and enjoy His love He has for you.     I imagine god as being a parent who already knows what their kid did but is just waiting for them to admit it themselves. Knowing that he already knows, there really is no reason to not admit fault and repent. You have nothing to gain from not humbling yourself.
    Doesn't make it easy though. I find it hard to do it immediately after sinning. Kinda seems disingenuous to do it right after. Like ill sin just real quick and then repent the guilt away. It's even worse when i'm in such a sinful mindset that i even ponder doing this whilst sinning. After thinking more clearly i recognize that that is obviously the wrong to do, but how could i know for sure when i'm repenting that i'm doing it for the right reasons and not out of a subconscious selfish desire to get off scot-free.

    Amen, God has been showing me more and more that low is the way. I've had those same thoughts of being better than the next but in the end what good is it when we aren't saved by our own works anyway. Relationship is what I want.     The outside of the cup matters too.
    Jesus said to clean the inside of the cup, then the outside will be clean.
    Why?
    Because then the cup will overflow and the water overflowing will clean the outside.
    The enemy distracts us from the truth when we are saved and makes us feel like we have to work hard to stay good and presentable but the inky thing we need to do is gain Christ!

    My greatest struggle has always been correlating faith and works. Because from what I’ve always been taught (and correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it’s even in the Bible) that we have to guard and maintain our salvation. And so I’m always bound to this idea that I have to be a “good Christian” otherwise I’m showing that I was never really saved because “faith without works is dead”; and so here I am trying to genuinely put my faith in Christ but I can’t hear him, feel him, he’s working and speaking in everyone else’s life. It’s so tiring and I don’t even know what to do

    I needed this. I see those smiling people reading Bible verses on the app and I’m like, I’m nothing like these people lol. I’m cranky, judgmental, and not a fan of my neighbors. However, I love God and want to do best I can. I’m constantly struggling with feeling like I’m a fraud.

    I just learned in a meeting recently that the differennce between "trying" and "training" to be godly. When you TRY you end up frastrasted and give up when you don't measure up. When you TRAIN its a whole nee game. Paul says in 2 Tim 4:8-16 "train yourself in godliness". Trying means you are trying on your own, you get frastrated everytime you fall and when you don't hit the mark. But with a training mentality, you have God as your coach, mentor, and companion. You understand he knows the art better, and you trust his leading and guidence. He is patient with you. He knows your weakness and strength. You understand that training takes time but finally you will get there. And this training is for a life time. I am blessed with the sharining here. Thank you.

      Antonio, excellent question. Cry out to Jesus in your prayers. Admit that you have sinned and ask for forgiveness! Then, ask for guidance on how to stay away from sin. Jesus changes our heart.

    Im always being hounded because of my foul language.
    Sure It is not of God.
    Im working on it everyday, ive prayed that the Lord would guard my mouth.
    But if im actively trying to make that change everyday, i think that is the most honest I can be, i feel some sins take longer to overcome than other if something is a "force of habit."
    Im not a perfect christian....but im trying to make growth so that I can become more fruitful.
    And a fisher of men.

      Some things take time. Instead of focusing on not cussing ask God to help you to think and speak what is good etc

    Definitely have tried to justify it, how i saw it. I repented, then i would say. “Okay how do i fix this.” Or i would just skip the repenting and go straight to trying to fix it. I haven’t been doing so well lately. I feel very scared to do God’s plans for my life because i don’t know if i would do it right. I’ve done it a couple of times but it never felt effective. I think maybe it’s because i didn’t unclog my brain and search God’s heart before doing it but. I want it to really be something that i feel like ‘God really used me!’ I wish to have a heart like God. I love that, it makes me so happy. I need help.
