I mean I have nothing against it it's just you can't keep sinning and sinning again I believe that when you humble yourself to God you must crucify the flesh it doesn't mean you won't sin but don't let the enemy tempt you for the Bible say "resist temptation and it shall flee from you"❣️

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
      ‭‭
Also we see Paul saying in the present tense (after he was saved of course) that he is the chief of sinners… Christians ought not sin, of course. Sin is wicked… but we still do sin. And the more we grow in sanctification the more aware we are of our own sin. To say you became sinless once you became a Christian is deceptive and prideful… of course that is also a sin. We see Peter, someone who believes whole heartedly in Jesus deny him 3 times, we see Paul talk about believers who are living in ways that they shouldn’t be, or getting into conflicts that aren’t justified and rather than tell them they aren’t Christians he calls them to repent and return to their former love of Christ and the Gospel. scripture makes it clear that once you are truly saved you will continue to the end… but it’s continuing in reliance and faith upon Christ. Understanding that he is our only hope, our only appeal to salvation… not our own ability to not sin
So yes, FIGHT SIN, flee from sexual immorality, but to say Christians don’t sin at all is deceptive. We just don’t sin as a lifestyle… we don’t desire sin, we don’t run towards it. We instead battle it, struggle with it, and repent of it. But we still fall into it

It is not okay to sin. Good evening. They [all the armies of the world] will try to kill Jesus again but he is immortal and will not die the second time. Separate the true Lord Jesus from the Roman catholic sunday system. No righteous Christian has killed or raped any body. Jesus is the only true God of love that shall return soon, but the other gods are false with hatred for mankind. Did Allah, Brahma, Buddha, Krishna, Yahweh, etc die for your salvation? Even if the true Jesus were to come, your unbelief will cause you to fight him. The Israelite kingdom at its height was better than any first world nation today. The kingdom of Jesus is coming soon to a city near you. I thank God that hell [a place of torments] is not eternal, but the lake of fire is. Did you know that hell and death are cast into the lake of fire? Sin separates us from God. When the true Lord JESUS shall return, we shall worship him in the feast of tabernacles. Repent.

The "ask Jesus into your heart" thing never made any sense to me as a kid growing up in a fundamentalist/evangelical/baptist family. When beset by eldritch horrors as a child, I was told "pray to Jesus" with no further guidance -- like they expected a 6 year old to just figure it out. The most pragmatic advice I have ever gotten, some 20+ years later, has been to say the Lord's Prayer and the Jesus Prayer: "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me." Orthodoxy is pragmatic like that.

Awesome - I loved your points, and think they are very good and thorough! Especially that last one, addressing that one must believe in Christ. “Asking into your heart” I feel has the right meaning behind it, but I think it is a societally gentle and easy to misunderstand way of putting it. Hadn’t thought of that before!
I must ask, as I am confused by point two: what do you mean? Are we hated as sinners by God? I’m inclined to not think so because we are made in His image, and in Scriptures like “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” and like Galatians 2:20, where Paul says, “…and the life I now live I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” I hope I am not coming off poorly, but am just trying to ask the questions in my head to further my understanding. I think I just misunderstood what you meant. Thanks for reading!

Polite correction * God doesn’t hate the sinner.. if He hated the sinner He hates every human He created (which He doesnt). He loves us which is why He died for us, but He doesn’t want us to remain in sin because sin is against love.. against Him. (: Peace of Christ.
Also His love isn’t determined by what we do or don’t do, we can’t earn His Love. His love is given to us .. we don’t deserve it and we can’t earn it.. however Heaven is a different topic (faith & works)

Yeah I was thinking the same thing... It was strange hearing him say that God hates His enemies, implying ourselves.. Jesus said to love our enemies, so I'm sure not even God hates His enemies. If He really did hate us, then what would be the point of John 3:16? I really believe that God is hateful towards our sin, not who we are. It is our sin that He came to save us from.

These are Calvinist views. God does not hate a sinner. Psalms uses poetic language to show how ugly sin is to God. When I say "I hate tailgaters," I don't literally hate the person tailgating, just the act of tailgating. God tells us to love our enemies, because He loves his enemies.
Telling someone that God has a plan for their life is true and encouraging. And asking Jesus into your heart gives a message of turning your heart over to God, which is accurate. What must I do to be saved? You even said you must turn your heart to Jesus. Most people understand what asking Jeaus into your heart means and I know many who repented and follow Jesus now because of it. Everyone should continue to read their Bible and grow in their understanding, but it is not a phrase that needs to stop. Eph 3:17 ".... so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-that you, being rooted and grounded in love..."

Spot on, the progressive movement Love these sayings. Also, We should all study the old testament. Yeshua said in the sermon on the mountain: Matt 5:17 -19 "Do not think I came to away with or undo the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For I assure you and most solemnly say, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke will pass from the Law until all things are accomplished. So whoever breakers one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches them, he will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Knowing sin is knowing the Law, and therefore it is a must to study the old testament. God bless you all

But we're all wicked. None of us are sin-free. Even the best of us still deliberately sin while knowing God hates it (e.g. telling a lie, getting offended). But that doesn't mean God hates us. God so loved the WORLD. That means all of us. He hates the sin inside of us. If he hated those who rebel against him, he wouldn't run after or desire a relationship with anyone. You can't love and hate someone at the same time. I have enemies, but I don't hate them. I have compassion on them.

    2. On inviting Jesus to come into your heart
Again I believe we risk arguments over words
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
    - Rev 3:20
If anyone knocks at our doors we say come in. The gospel creates a tagging upon the hearts of man to respond to it and we are all familiar with this convicting work of the Holy spirit. It is Jesus knocking at the doors of our hearts and to allow him to come in is exactly what tge Bible is saying we should do.
My thinking is we are overthinking some of these words and we end up in a war of words. I have no qualms at all with such phrasiology. Remember intention is more important and we cant force language to mean the same to otgers as it does to us all the time.
This one is not an issue for me

Your second point about the sinner bears truth. And you do a good job pointing to Romans 5:8. At one point you used the wording "we were so awesome - I can't help to die for them", which is true, but in the last part is still amazing truth. The BibleProject's examination of the word "khesed" which describes God (Ex 34:6), points to the mind-blowing truth, that God just could not do differently or "can't help help to die for us".
^This is not meant to disagree with your point on a foundational level, but what I would add to your point, because it makes who God is just even more magnificent - at least in my own understanding :)

One Christian saying I think should be cancelled, is one that's especially quoted where I grew up as an old colony, traditional Mennonite. The saying is a misquoted verse from the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:14. The way it would be quoted was out of context, and the quote basically was, "we must keep that which we have been taught." This saying over time led to the Old Colony Denomination relying more on tradition than scripture. Putting more emphasis on dressing humbly and traditionally, rather than repentence and grace. And I've personally seen people of this denomination persecuting those who left the Church in order to join an actual Christian faith.

This may stem from my own childhood growing up in more traditional church, but I find it frustrating when some people say “The Holy Spirit told me to…”, and they use that phrase for everything they’ve ever done. Idk, it just seems prideful like they’re bragging that the Holy Spirit just talks to them all the time. They may not intend it that way, but it confuses me for sure

Another phrase I think needs to be cancelled is one that's very popular specially among Christian women; it's a misquotation from the Psalms referring to the city of Jerusalem, it goes like this: "God is within her, she will not fail". Um, no… our faith is not in that things won't wrong, but in that even if they do and we are in obedience to His will, God will work them out for good and for His glory (Romans 8).

"God won't give you more than you can handle" is in scripture, but people tend to leave out two very important words: "with God".
Another saying that is heavily misused is, "Money is the root of all evil". They're almost right but what Proverbs actually says is, "The love of money is the root of all evil".

I agree with most of this, except for the love the sinner, hate the sin concept you don't think is biblical. God does love each and every one of us, even unbelievers, but He won't force someone into His presence if they don't want to be with Him. Love is a choice. "God so loved the world..." He loves all of His creation, but hated our rebellion. He wouldn't create anyone out of hate. Why would He hate His own creation? Even the ones who aren't following Him? If God hated me before I turned to Him, He wouldn't have pursued me in the way that He did and called me by name to save me.
So, I do agree with that saying. We are to love even the ones we deem to be the most unlovable. Jesus loved and still loves me, even when I sin against Him. He hates my actions because they're not aligned with His law, but He still loves me in spite of them. So, I will love others as He has loved me. And, I will despise especially my sin against Him.

We don't have to ask God to grant us repentance it is already afforded to us through His grace. What may be necessary is to pray that God help us to walk out our repentance, though it is a command for us to repent and if He has commanded us to do it then He has already given us what we need to do it. What may also be necessary is for us to ask God to show us areas that we need to repent in.
What is necessary however, is for us to pray for those who have unrepentant hearts, those who have hearts that are hardened, that God may remove the hardness of their hearts.

💯 especially the asking Jesus into your heart thing. The Christian phrase that aught to be canceled... is that fear doesn't mean fear it means respect. I've heard this so often that one day I found myself editing that switch in my mind when I was reading the Bible. Since the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and it's translated into fear not respect I don't think we should just change that translation. There is a big difference between fear and respect. I might respect someone and still be unafraid of the judgment. Not to say we should go around in fear of God. But that fear is where we ought to begin. Just like a toddler doesn't stop doing something dangerous out of respect. He either is physically prevented from doing it or he stops out of fear or he does the dangerous thing.

About "God won't give you more than you can handle", yes I agree it's a misinterpretation, but of another verse, it's says we won't be TEMPTED more than we can handle. (1 Corinthians 10:13) Of course God give us more than we can handle, more problems than we can handle. That's when we are come to humble ourselves and ask for help: Lord, our brothers, other people...

The “ask Jesus into your heart” is actually recited in our large church everyday. However, they do call it the “believers prayer” and they do a good job of explaining if you’ve never accepted the Lord as your savior or even if you have that’s what it is for and we all recite it to end our service.

    • @Noah6544

I agree it’s usefula and good for seasoned beleive but I feel like for unbelievers it shifts the focus to themselves, “asking Jesus into MY heart” just seems to imply to me at least, a sort of man centered gospel and that it’s all up to you. Instead I think “surrender your life to Jesus” is better because it is the gift he sees us and he is the King if that makes sense.

In my opinion it's great, many new people in church who never attended and it might be their first time even stepping foot into a church. So it gives them the courage to say "Yes, I want to do this and I feel drawn to God." and in turn begin to make steps in the right direction. Pastors are not going to walk with you in your faith, but they simply help us, sometimes, understand all of the things that God has already shared.

God so hated the world that he gave His one begotten Son…oh wait that’s not the verse.
Jesus came here to give us a radically different view of God than what the Jewish people had before. For their history they believed that God was angry, retributive, distant. He could not be reached except through priests and must be feared.
Jesus told us that God is loving. He is our Father. He gives us what we need and knows exactly what we need. He is close to us and ever present. God is Love.
Jesus told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Since Jesus came here to reveal God to man, why would we think that God “hates sinners?”

    1. On God loving the Sinner and hating the sin
The quoted verse, Psalm 11:5 is a perfect example of anthropomorphism where we ascribe human attributes to God, same as "a jealous God".
We risk making scripture contradict itself with verses such as "for God so loved the world" and many many more that talk aboit the love of God and also his command to love all men.
If we fail to appreciate anthropomorphism we risk making the conclusion that God actually hates sinners. I invite us and the video maker to rethink that

I also think the saying "Ask Jesus into your heart" is a bad way to tell someone how to get saved, we are called to deny ourselves, in my opinion, just asking Jesus into our hearts is asking Him to conform to the way we are living, which is not what is supposed to happen, instead, we should be telling people to give themselves to Christ, I like to put it like this: The invitation of salvation is not accepting Jesus into our hearts, the invitation is to give ourselves to Christ.

And it’s also an unfinished, misused quote. The full quote is this: “Hate the sin and not the sinner is a precept which, though easy enough to understand, is rarely practiced, and that is why the poison of hatred spreads in the world... It is quite proper to resist and attack a system, but to resist and attack its author is tantamount to resisting and attacking oneself. for we are all tarred with the same brush, and are children of one and the same Creator, and as such the divine powers within us are infinite. To slight a single human being is to slight those divine powers, and thus to harm not only that being but with him the whole world.”
