2 quick questions because I know overlord is about to run out here, 1 will you go back over the cut content for previous seasons? and 2 whats to come next?
@@enforcerridley158 quite frankly that is literally almost every new world character in overlord, with characters defying or subverting the typical roles they'd occupy in a fantasy story from a book or rpg.
@@MrCommandor1998 Jirniv is the opposite of what he looks like. if anything he would act like Gilgamesh from Fate but they made him a mentally unstable man
I daresay Zanac is one of the characters I completely changed my mind on. Initially I thought him just another petty noble type, willing to do anything to gain power. His change and ultimate fate made me really sad for the outcome. Then again I am sure a lot of people would have hoped that Brain and Gazef had also lived since they were also shown to be inspirational heroes.
Gazef's loyalty had him set on one path only. Once we learned that the king would not be able to give up the territory (would make him weaker to the Nobel faction, and so on) I kind of just knew Gazed was going to eventually fight Ainz or one of his subordinates. Brain had a satisfying conclusion, but I really did hope he would have fled with Climb. Then again he changed over time after having his confidence shattered. As for Zanac seeming like the petty noble type. That was masterfully crafted by the author. He treated his sister like a psychopath, then you learn she is actually one. He treated his brother like an idiot and you see how his brother could have easily ground the kingdom into dist with his foolishness. Zanac foiled and put obstacles in front of his eldest because the things the seat wanted to do was due to manipulation and probably would have diminished the crown's influence.
Yeah Zanac was a character I originally didn't think much of, when we got to know his siblings, I thought he was certainly cunning, but not nearly as smart as his sister, but far smarter than his brutish older brother. Then seeing him try to run the kingdom while his father is falling in his spiral of grief, my opinion of him started to change, fast forward to the chat with Ainz and I really felt bad for Zanac, he tried his best for his kingdom, and honestly if Ainz wasn't fixed upon the kingdom's destruction, I think he would have gotten along with Zanac fairly well. But his goal and how he knows best to achieve it basically requires this act of destruction, and since nothing can really oppose him, I think it makes more bitter on how we view the situation. Hoping Zanac might be able to live by the narrowest margin due to Ainz's respect for him. Then we had the traitor nobles, and I honestly enjoyed knowing they would be sent to experience living hell. They betrayed and brutally killed their leader, merely so they could even attempt to save themselves. I know they feared for their lives, but it doesn't mean I have to be ok with their actions.
@@ODDnanref I think with gazef and brain we know for a fact they wouldbt have accepted what the princess did thus they had to be taken care of I honestly think brains ending was more satisfying then gazef seeing as ainz was really pessimistic and the only one who could give gazef a warriors death was coqites (however you spell that name lol) at the very least gazef died peacefully. It had taken someone as depraved and selfish as the princess to truly join the ranks of ainz oal gown and if you ask my real opinion on that she was only accepted due to zanac and his friendship with ainz her usefulness to nazarack was negligible at best demiurge said so but thats just my take you could argue taking over the kingdom from within was valuable too deserving of being apart of ainz but imo that wouldve only been enough to be spared not to be apart of ainz
@@M_reapr Gazef died trying to gleam information fora possible future defeat on Ainz. I think that is a satisfying nd, not a warriors end, but the end of a shield that dying trying to further protect his kingdom. The princess was a psychopath, but she was pretty clear on what she wants. She wants to live with her puppy as equals and have kids with him. Nazarick just had the better deal. Also, what are you on about? The princess was accepted into the ranks due to her unparalleled intelligence, she played the nobles in the kingdom without stepping outside the palace. She could deduce the movements of organizations without even stepping out of the palace too. Not to mention Albedo and Demiurge both admitted to her being of equal intelligence to them. Which scared Ainz, because she could discover his fakeness. So her ability to take over administrative tasks from Albedo or Demiurge would massive free up one of them to take to the frontlines, where they can actually deal damage. The princess had a deal way before Momonga befriended Zanac.
I know it's highly unlikely and would decrease the impact but I'd love too see him brought back. Bone daddy needs friends. Real friends he can be a mortal around. Everytime ains meets someone who reminds him of his savoir touch me and alike...they end up dead man.
@@david95ms that's the joke, both of those siblings are technically dead now. Without spoiling too much. So if they ran back into each other under ains it would be funny. They could very well exist in nazz for years maybe decades and never know of each other. But it would be comical. "How did my idiot brother achieve goals similar too my own?!?" "How did my *Sister* get here"
There's also one phrase I loved that was omitted from the anime. When he asked Ainz "Don't you think you've proven your point already?" he said, "Honestly, I thought I had proven myself on the Katze plains, but as it turns out you still chose to attack me."
I don't remember such a thing, and even opened the volume to confirm it. Their entire conversation didn't mention katze plains, exactly as i remember. Are you sure that such exchange really happened? And if so - are you sure it happened during that particular conversation? Or is it just ommited in my version?
@@Med1umentor yeah 100%. I think it's only in the Japanese and Fan Translations online. When I started reading Overlord people heavily recommended I read that one since apparently the official releases are infamously
One thing I loved is that everyone became a fan of Zanac only after his conversation with Ainz, opposed to his introduction. When we first saw him, he seemed to be the gluttunous prick who hated his sister and just wanted to be king, but when we look at the whole situation from his perspective, youre faced with a kingdom teetering, a sister who is evil incarnate with an inhuman wealth of wit and insight, and a buerocratic branch that was tearing itself apart from the inside. That's wild.
Zanac is one of the characters I pitied the most. He gave everything to protect the people of Re-Estize, but with his own sister switching sides and being pitched against Narzarick he never even had a chance.
In any other timeline, it is believed that Zanac could have lead the Kingdom to greatness, but sadly, he had the unfortunate circumstances of Nazarick to deal with.
And then we find out that his animosity toward his sister was ENTIRELY justified, considering what kind of person Renner actually is. Bait and Switch. Zanac was a genuinely good guy, he deserved better than his ultimate fate.
i loved that Ending, it was sad mainly cause Ainz finally had someone to question his motives not as a villain, not as a enemy, but as a individual, Zanac actually connected with Ainz and Ainz knew that, which is even more sad cause you could feel his anger when the lord brought his head, he respected Zanac, this was shown as he ordered Albedo to bury his head along with his body, which is suprising cause Ainz wouldint naturally care
It's really interesting because, in many cases, Ainz hasn't actually had a say in what happens to Nazerick or what they do. For example, it wasn't really Ainz's idea to accomplish world domination. That was Demiurge's idea based on one off-hand comment from Ainz and Demiurge's own personal biases. Demiurge was just so convincing with the rest of the NPCs, Ainz felt he had no choice but to go along with it. With Zanac, there's a lot less tugging at Ainz's strings.
"He is a monster on the outside yes, bones and all. But on the inside he is a person like any other." Where others make great theories about Ainz' intentions, it took Zanac exactly one conversation to see right through him.
The Re-Estize Kingdom didn't deserve Zannac. He did everything he could for them, and they betrayed him at the end. His last moments were wonderfully written. How he compared himself to his siblings, and knew that he was lacking, but still did all he could to bestow unto those he loved, his people and family, happiness. Just like Ainz.
@@MeIrakli And that is the irony of it all. Zannac came to understand the most human of desires that nobody could ever fault from an undead king who was going to trample of him and his people. He couldn't fault Ainz at all. But people are petty creatures. All the respect to him for not bending or breaking to them. And the same goes for the general who stood and fought with him till the end.
@@bhec7715Ainz did this when it is for the good for Nazarick . He is a perfect leader for a team but this team will be a danger for everybody else . Ainz explained many times the problem of the guardians about their mindset but he is way too selfish to say them to be more good than the bare minimum
@@mrushisusar1825 but Renner asked albedo to barely revive him so he can be a Doll for a while, im sure ainz could revive zanic perfectly fine if he wanted, tho it would served no point having him alive i get it
This scene was just a beautiful one to read. It let the two understand each other and that they are fighting for the same thing. Although Ainz's "heartbreak" when Zanac was killed was very sad
What i really liked about the scenes with the noble's giving the king's head to Ainz is his voice. I don't think we've ever heard him sound so done with everything.
I got literal chills when he grabs Aura and says with pissed voice "and even if they beg for death, do not kill them immediately" I was like ooooooo now hes pissed
I will say this: Ainz offered water as a courtesy but he didn't expect Zanac to drink it, however if Ainz did know Zanac was going to drink it he probably would of offered something better. As a form last meal before they fought.
Zanac drinking the water that Ainz offered means that both of them are still a human and a mortal no matter how big their differences are and Zanac understands that Ainz is all alone all the time despite the fact that he commands an army capable of destroying anything in his way if he ever so wishes. He accepted Ainz's offer of death without suffering in order to bring him his happiness.
right, it was omitted from the Anime, but after offering water, Ainz also gave the option for Orange juice after ruling out alcohol, but Zanac thanked Ainz that water is fine
The English dub actually nailed his dialogue more than the subs did. His dub VA for this episode had Zanac say vindictive and Ainz said to Albedo "Send them to Neuronist... We'll find their families later" keeping the piece about their families that the sub didn't keep
I've noticed that in the last few years, the quality of subs has become abysmally bad.. I'm noticing quite often how what they're saying, and what's in the sub are very different. I miss the pre-streaming days :/
@@dravenocklost4253 I mean before anime streaming was a thing. With Crunchyroll, Netflix, etc. streaming anime, they've started doing subs, and in many cases, the subs are of very poor quality. I know in Crunchyroll's case they pay their translators very poorly, so that probably explains the lack of quality. It also doesn't help that there's only one translation for the most part. In the old days, you'd get subtitles done by volunteer groups, and while not all were good, overall, the quality of the translation was much higher - especially if you were watching slightly older shows, where community had time to sort out and vote on which group had the best translation.
I always tell people to watch whichever version they like more, because at the end of the day, the dub vs sub debate is stupid. But for Overlord I do prefer the dub, sub isn't bad, I just prefer the dub for Overlord. And then there's shows where I prefer the sub, I don't understand why people get so caught up in being some sort of sub purist, you don't speak japanese so you're entirely at the mercy of the translation subtitles. Much the same way the dub viewers are at the mercy of who's cast for the voice roles, and what's written for the script for them. It's the same boat, just a different make of sorts.
"a hero would sacrifice you to save the world, but a villain would sacrifice the world to save you." is really applicable with overlords story telling and not just for ainz Day 69 of asking for a grand assassin hassan servant review
I love how Zanac immediately drank the water Ainz gave him kinda like when Gazef hands his sword to Ainz to inspect it, shows that Ainz despite his nature is still seen to be a respectable ruler.
Ains was going to give them peace by making them suffer as less as possible. But those damn rebels gotta have to kill the prince, the only man Ains respected other than the Warrior Captain Gazef and bring his head directly to Ains while expecting to be spared along with their families. That moment.... Ains snapped. He gave them what they wanted (albeit in a way they didn't expect) . He just didn't care anymore about what happens to them and the whole kingdom after that. And the rest is history.
Ains wasn't giving them peace. He mercilessly slaughtered an entire city, when all he would have had to do to keep his place with his fanatically loyal servants was ask them to spare the innocent, or the children at least. Call it his undead nature influencing his personality, but Satoru should be disgusted with himself.
@@snapeinvader No, Ainz and Demiurge came up with an idea to change the kingdom from the inside by removing the useless ones and keeping the useful ones. They planned to make a revolution by using Phillip and takeover the Kingdom as It's saviour after the revolution ends. But that plan backfired when Phillip attacked the Sorcerer Kingdom's grain transportation cart. Phillip(a noble of the Kingdom) basically declared war to the Sorcerer Kingdom. Now, they have to respond with an appropriate response to that attack but that response can't be seen as too naive or weak from the other nations since Kingdom one of the weakest nations after their clash with Empire and Ainz on the Kltze Plains. Plus, the Kingdom is rotten from the inside, The noble faction and the royal faction always clashing against each other, citizens with no ambitions, producing drugs and all kinds of Illegal things by the Six Fingers. Kingdom is basically useless to Ainz. So, Ainz and The Guardians had a meeting and then decided that to make the full use of the current situation is to make examples of Kingdom(who attacked the Sorcerer Kingdom) and the Empire (Who was a vessel Kingdom under the Sorcerer Kingdom). He give them one month to live before eradicating them. That's mercy from Ainz. They experimented new tactics while attacking the Kingdom so Ainz made sure to use all their lives as much as possible. Also, when Pestonya(The dog maid) begged him to let some people live, Ainz let some of them escape.[add my top comment here] What really happened was just Phillip fucked up and Kingdom has to take responsibility for it. That's all.
@@snapeinvader Also, his undead nature might influence him but they are strangers in the first place why would he care? And yes, Satoru is disappointed with himself for not being able to have big emotions. But it's not like he is some robot, he cares about his friends' NPCs since he doesn't have anything else he treasures after them.
@@sakamotoverge3194 very compelling case but like zenac said there were so many ways it could of been handled. And people love blaming it on his lack of emotions but it's more so demiurge and albedo. If it was really just his emotions being off causing his ruthlessness then he if he had all positive rated underlings he would still turn out handling things this way.
@@snapeinvader not really. He was actually thinking of giving them mercy and there was a very small chance that he would not have annihilated them. The problem was the kingdom had too much disloyalty and greed that they were willing to kill their own just to survive. Ainz loves loyalty and camaraderie the most. Unless it was demiurge who plans everything, ainz do not really want to annihilate everybody. It's just that there is nothing worth saving in the kingdom for him. Well, he didn't really annihilate everybody in the end. Some actually survived and you could see them at the end.
I'm kinda glad the lords and such offering up Zanac's head got what they deserved for killing him. To me it felt like a sign of respect and care that Ainz had for Zanac for the lords daring to kill him. Making them suffer via torture instead of giving them an easy death. Making them beg for it.
torture is never really a good thing (even if necessary which in this case it wasnt). a lot of those guys were just scared out of their minds and many probably wanted to protect their families. people tend to do really irrational things when faced with death. doesnt excuse what they did, but to torture them so gruesomely for it was incredibly evil and went way to far, especially considering ainz was responsible for the entire situation to begin with
Zanac may not have been cut out to be a king but he certainly was a true king. At that meeting, Zanac understood Ainz and learned albeit for a brief moment what it meant to rule a nation and Ainz saw what a king ought to be within Zanac. It was a sad fate for Acting King Zanac to have been killed by his own people as he did but he died fighting and Ainz being presented with Zanac's head by the nobles had earned them the genuine anger of a king that cemented their demise. Zanac died a hero like Gazef and Brain.
A king who was too soft hearted to make the necessary choices to strengthen his kingdom, a self interested plotting princess, an ignorant and short sighted prince, and the one prince who would do whatever it takes for his kingdom, but lacked the talent and skill to do so. Beautiful story telling
Don't forget: The champion who was too blinded by loyalty to switch sides to save the kingdom, and the insane noble who thought betraying the Sorcerer Kingdom was in any way shape or form a good idea.
@@rahn45 exactly. This story could’ve just been the evil overpowered enemies destroying a kingdom. But with the characters introduced, you can see how the kingdom was doomed to fail sooner or later
Honestly it made me sad when Zanac was killed. You could see the little glimpses as you saw him more that he was blossoming into a true king. And as he began to open he was mercilessly cut down. Of all the people I'd like to see resurrected Zanac is one of the top. However I don't think Ainz will do that because Zanac definitely wouldn't survive the process
Zanac would have been a masterful addition to his domain. A wise and just ruler to serve him when beneficial would compliment the heartless cruelty of his other servants beautifully.
Ive watched every episode with overlord on your channel, this was the only one that made me cry, everyone forgot just how important Ainz's friends are to Ainz, and how lonely he felt...
Yes, but it also shows how unhealthily projective he is in how he sees the creations of his friends. It even reflects in his own NPC that is PA (since he reminds Ainz of his chunnibyo days). He slowly comes to terms that he's the only one left, and that the NPCs are nothing more than data acting on the whims of their programming.
@ashleigh chance In a way, I feel this is Ainz's most admirable characteristic and biggest shortcoming. He wants to protect those closest to him. That's admirable. But being so protective can lead a person to make irrational decisions. That is a shortcoming.
@@frankielovejoy9928he isn’t protective enough though. If he was, he would act as a real parent and correct his children when they act self destructively.
That whole scene with ainz and zanak sharing a conversation at the table was superb. 2 people, enslaved by their duties as leaders. Simple but very symbolic.
This entire video proves that most people really don't get Ainz like they think they do. They all believe he loves playing the role of an evil overlord, when really it's nothing but an act to appease the NPC's. They think he's this villainous monster who doesn't know the meaning of empathy, when really, he's just a lonely man trying protect the only source of companions he has left in his life now.
1. It is definitely true that he would be a very lonely man without all Nazarick's NPCs. 2. It is however not true that he does not like to act as an overlord, a super villain, hence choosing the role (and the evil guild) in the first place. So in conclusion.. He would prefer if he freely could display his inner thoughts in front of Nazarick denizens. That however does not mean he dislikes his role of overlord of Nazarick. You may not yourself "get" Ainz "like you think you do" - your view is lacking in nuance which of course is crucial for a character, especially one as his.
@@LetHimRead 1. Ainz has zero backbone when it comes to the NPC's worse traits. Look how easily he gets scared when Albedo's mad. 2. That's not what they meant, and you know it. They meant the actual *Wanton Killing* he does. Yes, Ainz and his crew loved to play the role of monsters, *but ONLY when it was just a GAME.* You really think the other members of AInz Ooal Gown would relish in the fact their creations all magically came to life and are out here killing and torturing people for real?
Seriously, I mean it's not like Ainz *Likes* all the killing he does. He still does it for selfish reasons, yeah, but he's not the mindless monster they seem to think he is. He's a former salaryman, he is capable of being reasoned with (usually, as long as it benefits him in some way). And he is still capable of empathizing with others (take Gondo and Pluton for example). And even that bonus chapter that takes place in an alternate continuity shows just how different his way of doing things would be if he came to the new world alone. Take him away from the toxic influence of people like Albedo and Demiurge, put him around real friends who see him as an equal and won't blindly worship him, and Ainz suddenly isn't that different from other Isekai protagonists.
It's been obvious from the get-go, the whole Sorcerer Kingdom began because of a misinterpretation of what Ainz said as a joke. Ainz rolled with it partly because he was afraid of exposing his own incompetence. And while he may not enjoy killing at least sadistically, he'll still do it without hesitation if he can benefit from it. Also, Ainz is still a villian through and through, but his disposition is something of a "reciprocal altruist".
@@keepinitreal8907the only member of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild I can imagine enjoying the killing on a massive scale is Ulbert. If he and some of the other guild members at least were summoned - I can imagine the conflicting mindsets would have made for a great spin-off of some sort.
I honestly couldn't understand why I liked this scene so much when I watched it, but it was truly well done right behind brain's duel with cocytus as my second favorite scene
It's called Hard Peace Theory. The idea that peace can only be won and maintained through force and the threat of force. It's much easier to negotiate peaceful commerce and establish recognized national sovereignty when everyone is terrified of you.
It's a shame that Zanac met such an undeserving end, i kind of hoped that Ainz would revive him though i suppose ultimately the price would always choose to give up his life for his kindgom over becoming a slave to Ainz
This scene is what really made Zanac's character for me, he seemed like someone who truly cared for the well being of his people, and the follow up made me legitimately sad for him
this is THEEEE best coincidence ever ... i just finished re watching season 3 and 4 earlier and wanter to see an video from you about the last episode turns out u just uploadeed it
Just like real life. Sometimes, you may have a good cause, done everything in your power to achive your goal, whether honorable or not, but it just isn’t meant to be, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Hardest pill you’ll swallow in this lifetime.
Considering Ainz's answer was "happiness" there were two individuals in particular that could have change the fate of the Kingdom: The first was Gazef, who by joining would have spared the Kingdom via Ainz's own words; and even without that promise he was respected enough by Ainz that he probably could have moved to be more merciful. The second was Sebas; however, this one would be completely the fault of the Kingdom itself: If what he saw during his mission had revealed a people worth saving he probably would have given his opinion to that effect, much in the same way Cocytus did for the Lizardmen. The problem was Sebas only found a handful of decent people in a city full of criminals, corrupt nobles, and a trampled underclass that would wish for death. As a final note, odds are the Sorcerer Kingdom probably had all most if not all of the people worth saving on their side already before the Kingdom was razed. Marquis Raeven's group already had sided with Ainz, and between them, the Adventurer's Guild, and the Eight Fingers they probably already rescued or swayed all of their friends/family/relatives/worthwhile people. Essentially the only people left in the Kingdom were corrupt nobles and those too cowardly to leave them who inexplicitly thought that they still could pull the strings enough to retain their independence. I would say "and those still loyal to the King" but we know what happened to them.
I'd like to think Zanac left a great impression on Ainz. So much so, in the end he would've called a halt to the slaughter... but, when the nobles brought him the head of Zanac, it sealed their fates.
Re-Estize had the ability to turn into a good nation, just like the Empire does. But Slayn just has to be torn down, that faction is too far gone to change for the better.
@@Jumooo Doubtful, unless they found some low level newbie unfortunate enough to be transported there. A level 100 players will destroy the Slane Theocracy even if he or she had subpar equipment
I thought Zanac was just a schemer, but when he was forced into an impossible situation he did everything the could to try and save his country. He turned out to be a worthy king and died a true hero.
I wholeheartedly believe that a vampire princess spinoff outsourced to a different studio would be a great thing to see. No offense to Madhouse, but dang their animation team for Overlord isn’t doing it justice…
There would have been plenty of internecine struggles I bet. Imagine Ulbert wanting to destroy everything but you have the other guild members disagreeing. Of course, since their creators are there - you'll get the NPCs taking the sides of their respective supreme beings (I swear that Pandora's Actor was a breath away from killing Albedo when she entered the treasury).
Ainz still got the highest position (with he being the leader, and PA keeping the treasures room) but i'm pretty sure internal conflicts would happened right after they got transported, members with high karma points such as touch me would act as a savior, while members with low karma points such as ulbert would enjoy killing people, so yeah it'd be a day full of debates
some more heatreak- in the LN character profiles, Zanac's description said that if not for the tomb appearing, he, his sister and Gazef would have lead the country to a better future
the kingdom is doomed to be fallen sooner or later, Kingdom's King is just a kind old man, he was reasonable but not decisive enough to choose who is the next king or noble problem. Kingdom needed some like Jircniv.

Gotta give credit and respect to the fat prince who stuck to the end and even fought for his kingdom. He didn’t ran away and yet he ended up tragically to be backstabbed by the nobles.
Really in many ways Ainnz was living a dream soon turned a curse. Realizing this is who he is now. Bright side he made is avatar very op. Though with power, one needs to use it to stay appeased. Only in his case he had a grand ideal which in the end was good in nature.
Zanac suddenly becoming one of my favorite characters in such a short span of time was not something I expected, but it and his heart-to-heart with Ains were such a breath of fresh air in this really depressing arc
Zanac was by no means perfect but he really did care about his country and wanted to right by it, his efforts to displace Barbro and become king as well as recruit Raeven and Renner to his side were all for the goal of fixing the Kingdom of Re-Estize, which let's be honest was horribly mismanaged and rotten from the inside out. Zanac's meeting with Ainz was very enlightening as it shows not Only Ainz's motivation but also Zanac's true nature, their one on one meeting allowed for the facades to fall and them to be honest with eachother. Zanac came away from the meeting feeling that was far more human than he had ever imagined, and Ainz came away finding Zanac worthy of respect and deciding on what he truly wanted in the New World. Ainz promise Zanac a relatively painless death but that was ruined by the selfish nobles who betrayed their prince to save their own hides. After Ainz received Zanac's head, that was the point that Ainz lost any respect or care for the kingdom and committed to destroying it, he had the nobles and their families sent to Neuronist and decided to wrap up the war. He no longer had any interest in sparing anyone from the kingdom and has his guardians finish off what was left.
Zanac being worthy of calling himself a true king but riding off joyfully on his tiny horse was the perfect depiction of the outside and the inside being mismatched.
I know as trivial as it would have been, I was SO hyped to see Cocytus and the rest go crazy against the army to see some more of their abilities. I was so let down when the next episode they're already entering the kingdom lol
@Dominick Destine dang then that sucks. I mean for sure it was over quick, but Ainz telling the guardians that he didn't care anymore and for them to not hold back made me want to see some OP attacks
It would have been great to have the full conversation in the anime. Although with the strict time restrictions each season has, it's not surprising they cut some from it.
Yo the editor to the novels is really fucking good the novels are so well written yes I think the overall direction is great but i dont think wed see the level of nuance without the editor in the language as well as the translator. This scene was super gripping in the anime but tenfold in the novel
Ainz is basically a loving uncle that is also the mafia leader. He will do everything he can to protect his family, and is someone threatens them, he gets those people DELETED FROM THE WORLD HARDER THAN YGGDRASIL IN THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY.
Hey AniNews , Naraka does look like a promising game and tbh this is the first time I've ever actually stopped to analyze an ad.....but a BR with a price tag is shooting themselves in the foot. Especially one as unique as this one cause someone will eventually come and make a similar variant with no price tag save for ingame cosmetics. Just my two cents though.
I think the Orb in his chest is also a world item, and he rarely parts with it. I think its also a big "tell" that the one fighting PDL was not the real Ainz. Also, if you read the full lyrics of the Ending "No Man's Dawn", it pretty much encapsulates Momonga's feelings.
Have you already made a video about "Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri" from A-1 Pictures? P.S. In one of the episodes they show a map for which they put some emphasis to show the importance, but that map is never shown for the rest of the serie for what i remember. Also they didnt let the viewer understand where the characters are in the map, for example, in one episode the protagonist with the witch go to a somewhat water town to visit the witch's sister or for some other reason, but is not clear where they could be on the map, my guess is one of the cities on the top-left part but i'm not sure. Another thing a bit disappointing is that i found what they say is the map of the entite world in which 'Gate' takes place, but for that part it could be wrong and be completely made up by someone. However if it's true that that map is correct it would be a bit disappointing as i said that there is no sign that they will work on another season to show more about that world that they didnt show too much even in the first seasons, maybe use some other character. I say again that is a bit disappointing because the serie is pretty much a good one, the people they show in the capital and the fighting scenes are interesting enough to continue watching. Does anyone have any news about this serie that is already 7 years old?
When I saw Ainz' reaction to what happened to Zanac, I was fully expecting a furious outburst followed by multiple activations of the emotion suppressor. Instead it was that "How dare you..." type of reaction. The type of anger you feel on a very personal level. When he asked what the nobles wanted in return, he already knew what to do with these feral animals who had bitten the hand that was only trying to feed them. @@alan62036 Very awful indeed. You can try and negotiate, but they committed treason. I hope Neuronist had a long, fun, playful time with them. At least a century, if not a millennia.
"Strength and Wisdom is nothing to a king who has no love for his people.' Ainz took this line down to the core. To the point that he would endanger all else for his own people to be safe.
i really want ainz to ressurect zanac... make him the ruler of the now ravaged lands to rebuild... it probably wont happen but i really liked how their conversation made ainz human side show... and that friendly nature would be very useful in some situations as well as zanacs genius in ruling he could get what he wanted from jerkniff from zanac
I felt at the time, when I first saw that the carrot or stick method was brought up, that Ainz's character must display his cruelty in order to be taken seriously. And this whole situation reminds me of "how a realist..." Anime also demonstrates this necessity but with his own retainers, where as Ainz's doesn't need to go that route. Maybe the writers were influenced by "the prince" and they went in this direction.
Zanac was definitely my favorite character, he was humanized and humbled since he was introduced, gone to soon in my opinion, but hopefully his death will carry consequences to season 5
True story: Lost my phone in december. I used to watch all your videos, but came here mostly for overlord. Remembered about it this morning (not sub). I was exited, though i would have many overlord videos to watch. Well, At least it was 1 and not 0.
So nobody noticed the juxtiposition of the two butterflies sitting in the foreground of the wide shot. One butterfly sitting on a tree stump, cut down from its foundation. The other butterfly, sitting on a small but living branch. I think this was a euphemistic representation of their paths, since the birds are perfectly in line with the large glass on the table, which draws the eyes down naturally.
Zanac died like a true chad king. When he first was introduced i thought he was going to die a stupid death because of him acting like any other noble.
Honestly if Zanac was given enough time I'm sure that alongside Renner he would have been a amazing king, one who could've turned the Kingdom on its head for the better but alas it wasn't to be. Its part of what I like about Overlord, we know any introduced New Worlder will probably die eventually but its still exciting to see just how things turn out, how will they develop in whatever time they have left, who will they meet and how (if ever) will they react to Nazarick and its denizens.

I groaned when I originally saw him. Oh look, a typical sneering fat noble. Overlord did not do that AT ALL!
Zanac deserves respect! 😢
I bet Ainz really wished he didn't feel compelled to kill him. Would have been a great Governor.

@@MrCommandor1998 Jirniv is the opposite of what he looks like. if anything he would act like Gilgamesh from Fate but they made him a mentally unstable man
With limited information we have at the start of anime or LN I think it's understandable that think he is just another pampered royalty
Zanac foiled and put obstacles in front of his eldest because the things the seat wanted to do was due to manipulation and probably would have diminished the crown's influence.
yeah given his appearance of a fat short squinted-eyed noble it is easy to lump him with your typical corrupt incompetent villain.
@@M_reapr
Gazef died trying to gleam information fora possible future defeat on Ainz.
Zanac died a hero in our hearts.

Not a fan of him but I always thought he was the best of his siblings
He probably overate to distract himself from the stress of what was really going on.
And then we find out that his animosity toward his sister was ENTIRELY justified, considering what kind of person Renner actually is. Bait and Switch.
Zanac was a genuinely good guy, he deserved better than his ultimate fate.
That one scene where Zanac and Ainz had a heart-to-heart made me a Zanac fan.

But even then, their deaths would be painless like Gazef's death rather than endless torture.
i loved that Ending, it was sad mainly cause Ainz finally had someone to question his motives not as a villain, not as a enemy, but as a individual, Zanac actually connected with Ainz and Ainz knew that, which is even more sad cause you could feel his anger when the lord brought his head, he respected Zanac, this was shown as he ordered Albedo to bury his head along with his body, which is suprising cause Ainz wouldint naturally care
Id still kinda wished hed just resurrect him lol
"He is a monster on the outside yes, bones and all. But on the inside he is a person like any other."
Where others make great theories about Ainz' intentions, it took Zanac exactly one conversation to see right through him.
Watching this video made me emotional. I feel so sad for the guy. Maybe because of what you said. It's as human as it gets

What i really liked about the scenes with the noble's giving the king's head to Ainz is his voice.

He accepted Ainz's offer of death without suffering in order to bring him his happiness.
ainz asked zanac if he wanted orange juice as alcohol would be inappropriate. zanac refused
right, it was omitted from the Anime, but after offering water, Ainz also gave the option for Orange juice after ruling out alcohol, but Zanac thanked Ainz that water is fine
The English dub actually nailed his dialogue more than the subs did. His dub VA for this episode had Zanac say vindictive and Ainz said to Albedo "Send them to Neuronist... We'll find their families later" keeping the piece about their families that the sub didn't keep
The dub write is more knowledge than the anime script writer.
I've noticed that in the last few years, the quality of subs has become abysmally bad.. I'm noticing quite often how what they're saying, and what's in the sub are very different. I miss the pre-streaming days :/
@@gogudelagaze1585 pre streaming days? Like twitch or individual episodes being uploaded?

Also, when Pestonya(The dog maid) begged him to let some people live, Ainz let some of them escape.[add my top comment here]
What really happened was just Phillip fucked up and Kingdom has to take responsibility for it. That's all.
@@snapeinvader Also, his undead nature might influence him but they are strangers in the first place why would he care?
Makes sense, Zanac privately understood that Ainz also didn't have what it takes to be a true king.
Pretty sure he cut out to be a king. Author even said in afterword that Zanac will fix his Kingdom if Nazarick don't appear and he become king.

@@LetHimRead

This is officially my favourite channel on UA-cam
yesssssssss more overlord ❤❤❤❤❤
That's what I'm saying 👍🏾
Moreeeeeeeee overlord let’s go and a movie let’s go
Ainz sama never miscalculate but when he does he doesn't - Mahis
This was the moment in the novel where my respects for Zanac went off the charts!
Zanac was the King Re-Estize needed but didn't deserve him..
Re-Estize had the ability to turn into a good nation, just like the Empire does. But Slayn just has to be torn down, that faction is too far gone to change for the better.
@Mediados I do agree..
Can't wait for Ainz to tear that nation down. Though I'm more intrigued if Slayn has secretly imprisoned a player..
I'm very curious if they'll make the spinoff where Ains becomes the companion to Evileye
I wholeheartedly believe that a vampire princess spinoff outsourced to a different studio would be a great thing to see. No offense to Madhouse, but dang their animation team for Overlord isn’t doing it justice…
Zanac started off as an ambitious brat but he really grew into the role of a proper king. Albeit not a charismatic or excellent one.
Zanac earned einz's respect in the end.
I get it, we all miss Overlord
Can you imagine if the entire guild accepted the invite? All members being transported? World would have been conquered in a day.
Ainz still got the highest position (with he being the leader, and PA keeping the treasures room) but i'm pretty sure internal conflicts would happened right after they got transported, members with high karma points such as touch me would act as a savior, while members with low karma points such as ulbert would enjoy killing people, so yeah it'd be a day full of debates
some more heatreak- in the LN character profiles, Zanac's description said that if not for the tomb appearing, he, his sister and Gazef would have lead the country to a better future
i love your videos so much, great info and atmosphere.
the kingdom is doomed to be fallen sooner or later, Kingdom's King is just a kind old man, he was reasonable but not decisive enough to choose who is the next king or noble problem. Kingdom needed some like Jircniv.

Gotta give credit and respect to the fat prince who stuck to the end and even fought for his kingdom. He didn’t ran away and yet he ended up tragically to be backstabbed by the nobles.
This was probably tied for my favorite scene in the show so far. Next to when Ainz told Albedo he was leaving in the mausoleum.
Awesome video as always. Please more Overlord lore in the future! cheers!
Honestly, the ending of that arc cemented to me that Ainz doesn’t deserve to finish his quest and should be defeated
Man I can't wait for the movie
Zanac being worthy of calling himself a true king but riding off joyfully on his tiny horse was the perfect depiction of the outside and the inside being mismatched.
I know as trivial as it would have been, I was SO hyped to see Cocytus and the rest go crazy against the army to see some more of their abilities. I was so let down when the next episode they're already entering the kingdom lol
I was let down with the secret invasion of the northwest of the kingdom.
I believe the LN doesn't describe the massacre either. It just says it was over quickly.
@Dominick Destine dang then that sucks. I mean for sure it was over quick, but Ainz telling the guardians that he didn't care anymore and for them to not hold back made me want to see some OP attacks
@@netoisthebestI'm pretty any of those op attacks would've decimated the whole kingdom in a flash
Was the best scene that season. Triggered genuine emotion outa me.
pinpoint analysis made the anime deeper from what it originally looked like you have skills lad
Would you make cut content on Eminence in Shadow?
It's just that they are almost simillar hopefully you make a series :)
Ainz is basically a loving uncle that is also the mafia leader. He will do everything he can to protect his family, and is someone threatens them, he gets those people DELETED FROM THE WORLD HARDER THAN YGGDRASIL IN THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY.
Good Dad's act the same way 😏
Superb insight (as usual).
RIP Zanac he was a real one.
great video as always , I love your Overlord content !
Thank God again Overlord! I so much miss the series. I waited for them to meet in the anime. Best part in the LN.
I'm sure hell would have looked like a paradise compared to what awaited them in the end.
Yeah, how dare they try to protect their families. Very awful people
@@alan62036 Very awful indeed. You can try and negotiate, but they committed treason.
I hope Neuronist had a long, fun, playful time with them. At least a century, if not a millennia.
A bad king but a good man... One whom will be missed most by the undead lord he shared a glass of water with.
Thanks for the amazing work and happy new year
I don't feel bad about the soldiers that killed their leader but the family because they literally did nothing and got punished by association.
"Strength and Wisdom is nothing to a king who has no love for his people.'
Ainz took this line down to the core.
10/10 as usual love these videos
Zanac was definitely my favorite character, he was humanized and humbled since he was introduced, gone to soon in my opinion, but hopefully his death will carry consequences to season 5
True story:
Lost my phone in december.
I used to watch all your videos, but came here mostly for overlord.
Remembered about it this morning (not sub).
I was exited, though i would have many overlord videos to watch.
Well, At least it was 1 and not 0.
8:45 and you thought we did'nt know where you took inspiration for this line from?
Zanac goes from one of my most hated character to one of my favorites
So nobody noticed the juxtiposition of the two butterflies sitting in the foreground of the wide shot. One butterfly sitting on a tree stump, cut down from its foundation. The other butterfly, sitting on a small but living branch. I think this was a euphemistic representation of their paths, since the birds are perfectly in line with the large glass on the table, which draws the eyes down naturally.
Zanac died like a true chad king.
When he first was introduced i thought he was going to die a stupid death because of him acting like any other noble.
Damn the deeper explanation had me choked up
damnit why does youtube keep recommending your vids it makes me rewatch every time
Honestly if Zanac was given enough time I'm sure that alongside Renner he would have been a amazing king, one who could've turned the Kingdom on its head for the better but alas it wasn't to be. Its part of what I like about Overlord, we know any introduced New Worlder will probably die eventually but its still exciting to see just how things turn out, how will they develop in whatever time they have left, who will they meet and how (if ever) will they react to Nazarick and its denizens.
The kingdom was doomed for destruction. They just had never met a force strong enough to bring down the hammer on them.
I love the UA-cam algorithm. I totally forgot to watch this and boom, 1 year later it's in my home feed, nice.
Looking forward to the movie. I live in germany, so the movie is out here early, but sadly nowhere close to me, so... yeah I'll see what I can do there.
Love more overlord content ❤❤
Just wanted to know but will you be covering danmachi season 4? I’ve had the light novels but haven’t read them, and I feel this season made me start reading them
Yo I'm a big fan of the overlord cut content
Part of me believes that Ainz probably reconsidered after they had the discussion, but the nobles completely ruined that for themselves.
