I love how series make us hate Zanac in the first place because of his insulting and hating attitude of his sister and then show us how right he is about it and like him afterwards.
His insults were justified immediately since Renner showed signs of sociopathy in the earlier seasons.
@@ChadKakashi I don't think so. When I saw that smile for the first time, I thought she is just a mazochist like in the kodosuba series. It was normal to see such mazo characters in anime so I thought maybe we can see her getting tortured and getting enjoy it. But it was her twisted mind after all.
I genuinely felt bad that the smarmy royal piggy went out that way. He proved he was a true king in his final moments.

I also really disliked how they were trying to make her creepy and unnerving but she just looked like she was a child trying to make a scary face.
I hate how much they cut from the anime, every statement holds so much more weight
I love the fact that Ainz thinks of himself as average in terms of intelligence and because of that he has to be very careful when making decisions which actually makes him much more intelligent than he actually thinks he is.
@@ZuuZuu2 Actually that’s been proven false several times over the course of overlord. At first it was an easy mistake to make, but by the end of season four it gets to the point where he’s not bullshitting anymore, he does have plans and the perfect tools to execute them. Ainz might not realize it, and his accidental successes don’t help with that, but he’s a strategy genius, and only gets more intelligent as the series goes on. This isn’t unintended by the author, either. Some people forget how Ainz’ race, the overlords, work. They gain wisdom and intelligence with age and experience. On top of this, it’s been co firmed that one can increase their intelligence in the world of overlord in the same way that training physically grants you the ability to use arts, no matter what your level is.
It actually gets to the point where he’s legitimately correcting albedo and demiurge on subjects they should be better than him in, with only pandora’s actor being on the same page at all times. I would definitely give the novel a read, the way maruyama writes it makes it so interesting. I just make it sound like an info dump
But if you think about it, it makes sense. No one in this world plays it like a game. In his own way, he’s decades more experienced at living in this world than even the most ancient dragon lords. The key switch comes when he starts *treating* the world like a game to be beaten after realizing his friends would never be found.
Which was also around the time he realized nothing in the world could harm him, not even gravity, aside from a player like himself or a world item.. whom he couldn’t find or had perfect counters for
Actually I’ll slightly correct myself; wild magic was and would have been a threat that could harm him, and is a perfect example of what I mean when I’m talking about Ainz’ pure genius.
I like your last point on Ainz trying to build up the confidence of Pestonya and Nigredo to help solidify the more humanitarian aspects of his kingdom.
His end goal is for all races to be able to live together equally. So he can't afford to disregard ones like this because at least half of his end kingdom would agree with them.

This could also be a potential problem in the future. Steam can build up within Nigredo, Pestonia, and Sebas. Ains considering their proposal some of that steam is release. In the future Pestonia will be very crucial for future events such as this. She seems to be just like Sebas except she truly will voice her opinion. Sebas gives Ains looks and watches him intently. Pestonia does the same.
I recalled Sebas is pretty much a blank slate but he still is imbued with some semblance of his creator “Touch Me”.
I do hope we see more of Nigredo, but specifically an interaction with Nigredo, Albedo, and Rubedo.
I also love the way Pestonia says “woof” or “er woof” so cute.
there is nothing better to develop the humanitarian aspects of a kingdom than to found it on the genocide of another....

Zanic was pretty much Thee king that the kingdom needed, he understood the bigger picture and (unlike his father) cared for the people as well as the soldiers at the time, he was also far more understanding in general as he took the time out of his day to Understand Ainz, hence why Ainz started to take a liking to him, its truely heart breaking that his own people killed him and robbed everyones chances of dying a peaceful painless death, Even with Zanacs head Ainz respected his body and asked that the head be returned and buried properly. this series is just so damn deep

I think it would had been much better improvement for their kingdom if the king had decided to step down and passed the crown to zanac, he had proven himself to be a capable leader and decision maker. If only this had been done, those traitors wouldn't had dared to betray zanac. And better yet, zanac would had tried to build better relationship with nazarick and i'm sure he done swift decision about philip's actions. Their kingdom wouldn't had met their fate if their king could show that the nobles are not above the law. which was the point that the 8 fingers existed, they were abusing their power at highest level and their king did very little to stop the 8 fingers...

Too bad that starts in the Holy Kingdom movie which takes place between the Dwarf Empire takeover and the Kingdom genocide. The way they split these arcs up was genius, (time-wise) but also flawed (there's no mention of the upcoming movie besides one line. They even mention the Holy Kingdom War in this exact arc, when Renner and Zanac are talking before the declaration of war comes.)

They were right there in the room with everyone, but only a high level specialist would be able to detect them, like Aura.
They were Hanzo undead (lvl 70 something, if I remember right)
And some of those spider assassin things I always forget the name of, eight arm assassins or something. They always follow albedo, but she typically takes hanzos on diplomatic missions as well.
I really got mad that they killed Zanac. He was calculating and cunning but he's doing his best to do for the best of the kingdom thay he didn't even have, yet he was willing to risk his life for it. I can't wait for the massacre.

there was also miscommunication. the way he kind of said "surrender was never an option" can be interpreted as "as a kingdom we'd never surrender to monsters". so to his people, I can absolutely see it has him sacrificing his people for his pride. Although even if his people understood this, I wouldn't know if they'd still resort to killing him in desperation.
Never thought I'd feel some sort of pity for him. I initially thought he was another scheming fool trying to circumvent the competition but after he won the succession he actually tried to improve the kingdom, even risking his life during the demon attack by Ainz. It's what happens when the power is split between the nobles and the monarch and why Jircniv's empire is much more stable. Poor martyr paid the price of trying to appease both sides. He was not as competent and probably made for an average king but I gotta give credit to his dying resolve. The man certainly went out honorably, I even daresay it almost mirrors Gazef's resolve, which makes it more impactful for me since he knows he's not a fighting figure.

Honestly this is one of the reasons i enjoy seeing MC as the (presumably, in the case of Ainz and someone like Kira from DN since i know many refuse to consider them one) antagonist. It helps bringing out the heroic aspect of other seemingly minor and stereotyped characters, like Zanac in this case.
I genuinely didn't pay much attention to him at first, thinking that he was just going to be that type of scheming second-prince stereotype all over again, but began to grow on him when the fate of the kingdom slowly tripped down to the point of unsavable as the series progress. My man literally carried the entire kingdom on his back while it was being destroyed from the inside by his sister and his father's ideology, only to then got betrayed by his own people at the very last minute.
The main character can’t be an antagonist. Main character can be evil (meaning a villain) but he is still the protagonist.
Man Shalltears plan was both comedic and somewhat cute cause she wanted to make an attack above and circumvate the defenses immediately but with some success.
But they could've just summon those death horses lol.... Literally just summon them inside the city.

Their ability that people are afraid of is the instant death aura, which kills people surrounding them in the distance and while at it devour their souls and life steal is just part of soul devour.
@@COBRAC0MMANDER yeah that could foil it but it would be the same if they fly and getting spotted by sentries. Anyway ains even teleported to another kingdom and didint get discovered so that worry is not that problematic.
What was interesting to me is the face expression of Sebas when Ainz accepted Nigredo's and Pestonias suggestion at the end.
Installing false hope in the people by pretending to lose a battle, while using it as a learning experience.
All part of 10,000 years plan that even Demiurge can't take a peak.
i like that Ains recognises that he isn't as smart as everyone thinks he is and instead of it just being his character trope for ever and ever, he is actually trying to improve himself to meet those expectations. Character development :)
I wish some gag characters could learn from this.

Ainz probably would have second thoughts about wiping out the Kingdom if it wasn't full of backstabbers, traitors, murderers, thieves, slave traders and the like. I imagine Raevan probably was able to get more of the reputable people of the Kingdom on his side before the Kingdom was razed, meaning that the quality of the remaining people in it was even lower than that it otherwise would have been.
I'd imagine it wouldn't even come into this if that was the case. If I understand it correctly, the whole plan originally was to incite rebellion from the people then just rule them politically as a puppet state or perhaps officially. The whole thing deranged due to Philip but Ainz may reason that since Philip's whole bloodline would be enough as a "stick" and that the kingdom is decent enough to change.
Although that's just my take on it and that "Ainz's great plans" are always bore from misunderstandings.
In the LN it's pointed out in Zanac's Bio text that if Nazarick had never shown up, Zanac - working along side Renner, Raeven, and Gazef - would have turned the country around and driven out the Eight Fingers. Which, in my mind, is the true tragedy,

@@quochoannguyen662 There is also the added fact that If Ainz and the Tomb of Nazarick had never arrived in the new world, Gazef would have met his end by the hand of the Sunlight Scripture some short time after their attack on Carne village, which would have destabilised the kingdom even further. The kingdom has been on the road to destruction for a long long time.

Pestonia seems to be the mastermind behind this plan…she new what they were asking for was unreasonable. That’s why they did the big ask first and then the less favorable but most likely to get a yes from second.
I don’t read the LN so if anyone could comment if pestonia had internal dialogue. Pestonia seems very intelligent to me.
They are both highly intelligent. Nigredo is effectively the intelligence specialist of Nazarick. However, she really only cares about babies. Once they get old enough she stops caring about them. Pestonia genuinely cares about all life.
I'm no expert but I don't recall Pentonia Shortcake Wanko having any internal dialogue here, just some genuine concern for some folks. She really is the Good Girl.

Nazerick sure does have some interesting good/evil characters living together.
@@Dragon_Lair Thank you, Nigredo is an interrelating character. I would like to see how she and Albedo would interact. In fact I wish we say more interactions between the good NPC and the evil align NPC. I know we had a major plot already with Sebas. Still I just find it fascinating they all coexist.

As someone who hides the fact I watch anime I bought the paladin of the holy kingdom 1, 2 and volume 14 of the books. This is the first time I've ever bought anything related to an anime. Wow they're amazing. The world building and illustrations. That being said, the anime is doing an outstanding the job bringing the pages to life. Especially that episode where the nobles got a reward equal to their efforts with Zanac sent chills down the spine. Then that most recent episode battle with the suit. I've also never religiously mashed refresh desperately wanting the next episode to be uploaded already on Crunchyroll.
It's worth it to read the books. Now go back to Vol.s 1-3 and watch the 1st season over again
There really isn't any reason to hide the fact you like Anime, friend. If anyone's telling you different? Ignore them. It's what you enjoy, live it up. That said, I need to get my hands on the English versions of the Light Novels and the manga. Hope to god it's not gonna be ridiculously expensive like it is for the One Piece manga.

I like to say that Overlord's anime is a mediocre adaptation of an exceptional source. That's why, it ends up being a high positive. I want to read the novels, because if the story and characters are this good when handled poorly, I ache to know what it's like when this story is on the right hands.

I’m still not buying why Ainz is so worried about the other NPCs.
Even Sebastian who was one of the more morally good NPCs was willing to kill the girl he tried so hard to save just because Ainz said so.
So even if the floor guardians and others are mostly evil. I doubt they’d actually have the stones to full on turn there backs and leave or betray Ainz if he made more peaceful diplomacy choices.
I think the point here is: It doesn't seem like a game anymore to Momonga (the man behind Ainz Ooal Gown) and has witness firsthand actual character growth from his NPC army. They can be influenced just like us humans can be in our real world. I think so at least. Maybe I'm wrong. If so, please enlighten me more on the subject of Overlord. I don't have access to the Manga and Light Novels, so I might be missing out on some things.

Personally, I think that maybe because he remembers that world as a game he acts like a villain, he doesn't think it matters since it's just a game and these are just NPCs
Also since the first book, it was clear that he doesn't feel empathy for humans unless he is personally or emotionally involved in them, which reminds me of people playing video games, when I play GTA or other games involving humans I don't care about random people on the streets and neither do I feel empathy if they randomly died, but if I get personally involved with an NPCs I might be a bit mad if they died.
@@MLPIceberg Also how the story is structured reminds me of different quests within chapters and areas, the capturing of the wise king of the forest is a small starter side quest to get an alley to help you get around, and Meeting Nphirea the well-known grandson of an alchemist and his kidnapping and having to fight the big evil guy to save Nphirea cementing him to your story as someone who owes to you.
and all of these side quests are within the more extensive chapter of the Re-estate kingdom which officially ends after you capture the entire kingdom.
I like how all npc in nazarick has more lore than the average isekai protag

I’m all for a theory that just like Ainz’s emotions are kept in in check by his players’ build, I think that his decision making, while flawed because of his natural lack of capability, is also influenced by his stats, leading him a “right” decision regardless. Like if his high level intelligence from being a stupidly strong magic caster always mitigates his lack of actual knowledge guiding him towards actions that progress his situation. This effect is eventually perceived by the reader as luck. Having said that, I have very little knowledge of player builds and RPGs in general, so it’s hard for me to say if it makes sense. What do you think?

yeah, I think the same. Since lore and stats determine npc personalities, capabilites and quirks, Momonga should be included among them. He lacks empathy like undead should, as mage needs high int Momonga as lvl100 overlord would have crazy amount of points allocated in it. So, even though his mind retains memories and his consciousness acts relatively same, his subconsciousness must be working like supercomputer.
@@sterbern2357 yeah, exactly. And although he can’t really understand many plans to their core, the little input he gives actually leads to a “desired” place. A lot of it is also the “people” surrounding him, so he is kind of dependent on their intentions but still manages to choose the right path within those mostly limited possibilities
Noticed something, the your video about Pandoras Actor you mentioned it is believed that when he is pretending to be Ainz it is believed (not proven as you said) that Ainz doesn't have the red eyes, however in today's episode this was proven untrue as he had the Red eyes. For the first time I will note though, but does disprove the theory.
Though it was also still fairly obvious who it was as the mannerisms were different.
You can tell its Pandoras Actor when he transforms into Ainz, cause he doesn't have a red orb in his body

@@Thromash Yeah, the orb is Ainz's personal World Class Item. He wouldn't just hand that out to a Guardian.
Since there have been other players of Yggdrasil transported in the past in different parts of this world’s history. Plus hearing the overlord series might end in two volumes. I think the story might end with the arrival of a hero from another world arriving.
It will make 200 years later. The world at peace. Ainz unified the world and make the arrival of new player useless because ainz make the world better. Except if the new player is somehow evil?

Part of why I enjoy this show is the villain protagonist perspective. I won't even insist Ainz is in any way justified in a lot of the shit he does (Or allows to happen) since he rarely isn't. But I enjoy it regardless simply for the change from the standard hero formula we see in most isekai series. There's a certain charm to having an MC who just does whatever the hell he wants and damn the collateral damage. I dunno, guess I'm just one of those people who's able to leave their morals at the door when enjoying fiction (With the occasional exception) Like I'll admit Ainz is a friggen bad person (At least when his actions are influenced by Nazarick, he's not nearly so bad on his own), but hell man, I still like him.

@@neardarkroad1347 Yeah, some folk do put in loads of effort to claim he does nothing wrong (Even to the extreme of justifying the Happy Farm as a good thing.) But I think it has more to do with his role of protagonist. If he were the antagonist of the piece and we were instead following someone else (To keep to the theme of Overlord lets just say hypothetical protag isn't heroic either) Then people would be calling Ainz out left and right. But since Ainz is MC, people feel more compelled to defend him. And I admit, for early Overlord, there are some fairly solid arguments in his favor, though not so much later on. I don't really get why people need to defend him though, just enjoy the story, who cares if he's evil, those who do care will just drop the show, easy.
Even so, I will add that the moral framework of New World is largely just "The strong do what they will and the weak suffer what they must." That's largely how that world works, not just Ainz, but it is a philosophy Ainz buys into and has even stated that if someone stronger than him and Nazarick came along, they'd have no choice but to fight and die. Though I suspect that while he preaches that, if such a thing did happen, he'd certainly lament the unfairness of it in his final moments. But that only circles back to another of Ainz' admissions, that being that he's a self-confessed hypocrite.
He knows what he's doing, and he doesn't give a crap (And that's partly why I enjoy him as an MC, no heroics, no moralizing, just pure self-serving motives, you're either useful to Nazarick, or you get eliminated) Its just how Overlord works, and I've gotta admit I do get a good laugh when anime onlys are like "So is Ainz getting established as the villain first and the real hero who'll defeat him will be introduced later?" since that just means they're getting the wrong impression of what this series is. The story of a villain's rise as he crushes other petty villains, heroes and innocents alike in his conquest (Or the NPCs conquest since Ainz is massively unqualified for the role he's trying to fill, he just plays along to make them happy and hide the fact that he's incompetent).

Yup, I'm that dude who drop Overlord. Not because I can't read a story about protagonist being a villain. It's just Overlord step into the territory of doing "evil stuffs as normal and treat it as silly jokes" too hard. The Happy Farm you mention is the example. Another is the community "holy weapon". That shit traumatize me after I dive into Overlord wiki to find about someone that can be a true match to Nazarick (which of course, doesn't exist in the current time).
@@neardarkroad1347 A time might come when, 100 years or more down the line where one of the top 3 guilds appears, since realistically they are the only thing that could contend with Nazarick, if not slightly edge them out in direct conflict, and even then it'd be a back and forth stalemate at best as neither side will be able to get a decisive leg up on the other, and the world will suffer for it, especially if the newly arrived guild is as power hungry and Nazarick are, or as destructive as the 8 Greed Kings were when they tore the whole world a new asshole just for the lolz (8GKs were the second wave of players to arrive, Ainz is the 7th wave) There were a few heroic players, or at least neutral, but by and large most of them were just greedy, genocidal assholes.
Well there is also the alternative of a World Class Enemy also showing up, but that would be bad for everyone, Nazarick included since a World Enemy that gains sentience would probably destroy everything, Nazarick included. It'd just wipe the world clean of life, or, if its one of the upper tier world enemies, it might just devour the New World whole. If World Eater appeared, Ainz would be shitting bricks.

Well. PDL is strong but he isn't really a big deal. His power is HP based with that Shalltear is a direct counter to him.
Right now in the novels they're on the Elf Kingdom storyline and it's ending in 2 volumes, so I doubt it.

@@Ja-3108 The Dragon Emperor is implied to be the strongest, but the New World is huge and even the some of the Dragon Lords don't think they're neccessarily the strongest. Though they've killed players before.
There's no natural level system in the NW , so things stronger than level 100 could exist.
In the alt side story about Evil Eye, Momonga struggled to beat a different dragon lord.

What an amazing video. The anime cuts so much content and it feels like it rushes past things constantly.
You know. the amazing thing about wiping out the kingdom is how none of hte NPC's bothered to point out the collasal, massive problem with doing this. Namley, Ainz is basically destroying his own kingdom by doing this for one simple reason.
Remmeber how the current territory of the scorceror kingdom was taken from the very kingdom they are now wiping out? That means the vast majority of Ainz human subjects, are from the kingdom naturally. Which you know means.
He's littearly ordering the deaths of his own subjects freinds and family on mass. This would outright horrfiy his subjects and lead to pretty much all of them either refusing to serve him anymore as they just had their whole family massacred. Or they'd simply pick up and leave in a mass exodus, causenobody in their right mind would live under the guy who just killed all your friends and family.
Realisically, Ainz just ordered his own kingdoms collapse as the human population of it wouldn't serve him or live under him reguarldess of threats of death or punishment and would just leave or rebel. And Momon is now useless as they feel that he wouldn't protect them as he stood by and did nothing.
THis is SUCH a glaringly obvious thing, that it's amazing none of the NPC's bothered to point this out!

Your family and friends are going to either live in your own town or a very close town, not in a completely different state like is normal in the USA.
Take for example Carne Village. There were only two people who were really known in the village that lived elsewhere: Nfirea and his Grandmother. Even then, Nfirea lived in E-Rantel, the closest major city, not very far away.

Terror and fear can easily backfire if you go too far with it. And also people can have large families even in medival era's. LOok at the witcher 3 for example. That is a place just as hostile to humanity as Overlord can be with even more monsters, yet people have family members over huge distances even in other kingdoms. Just cause your a peasent doens't mean you can't have family all over the place.

If your talking about those who wasn't born but got transfered they do tell others just that some don't believe it or some just doesn't care much and just want to stay with the mc. If you want the baby thing being told they are from another world and just got somehow reborn into a baby specially with magic they would outright kill the baby if they can since that guy just potentially killed their baby and just transfered their souls into it. That's the reason why the troupe of not telling anyone about their reincarnation experience (some ulti they are too op to protect themselves then tell they are reincarnators.). People saying it's cringe they are hiding the fact they reincarnated are just people who has no idea of the consinquences of that gonna happen if they do. Have you seen so what if I'm a spider? That's one of the things what will happen to people if they say they reincarnated with memories. (If not then I won't spoil).

Cut content is getting severe, the guardian plans would have been cool addition that episode. And the new episode didn't have any transition to at least show where it's happening. Aside of that it 's pretty great by itself.
It makes me wonder why they pose such a strict limit on episodes per season like that. I think 24/25 episodes per season for a show like Overlord would be far better than 12. But that's me. I'm sure there's a real good and legitimate explanation why it's 12 episodes per season, I just don't know it.

the only thing i didnt like was the lore i heard of how strong death knights were, their immunity to one shot attacks leaving them 1 hp, with that passive is why ainz loves using them to tank stronger enemies

Ever since the first Death Knight dying, I immediately questioned "What about the "Always remain with 1HP remaining" the Fall might be understandable since the first fall damage reduced it's HP to 1 and the second bounce finished it but Chain dragon Lightning or the Bullets from that Gundam isn't or doesn't have DOT( Damage Over Time)
Watch that scene again: The Death Knight (shield) gets shot once, staggers, comes back up and THEN gets shot again and collapses. The Death Warrior (two swords) gets hit with the bullet shower. So yeah, we do see the immunity.

Well, one of the theories regarding Ainz is that his conscious mind is taken into account by a subconscious aspect which comes from his Dark Wisdom skill in order to achieve the best result. So while on the surface Ainz seems to be bumbling along, with a pinnacle example being his moment in the arena when the Emperor is meeting with the holy nation representatives, he actually is thinking 10,000 years ahead at a subconscious level(as he joked with Demiurge).

_Tl;dr I think He's a good leader and a good tactician which is benefiting the situation but he's fumbling his way through the political scheming. That's probably part of why they the situation blew up in their faces and they need to destroy the kingdom._
He was the guild leader so contrary to his protests of merely being an office worker, he does actually have a fair amount of experience leading people and keeping different personalities in balance. Is it really luck if he's able to lead to multiple different, very strong personalities and allow their various strengths to work for him? Sometimes good leadership is knowing when to sit down and let your talent do it's job with just a little bit of guidance from you.
Plus, he is actually as reasonably good a combat strategist as any MMO junkie. His plan to take down brainwashed Shalltear back in season 1 was 100% deliberate. The best the guardians could come up with at the time was "well let's rush her together and it should work out" because even the sneakiest of them is so used to relying on overwhelming strength that they just don't think like that.
Where he struggles a bit more is dealing with noncombat political situations, particularly scheming and more sophisticated negotiations. He's used to working with friends/loyal servants or fighting enemies not the halfway trying to win over people who aren't clearly one or the other. Albedo and Demiurge, being a succubus and a demon respectively, are used to smiling broadly while screwing someone over which is why they're doing the lions share of the plotting. Stuff like scaring the wits out of the emperor without actually overtly threatening him just doesn't occur Ainz so he just fumbles his way through that.
The whole sitch with destroying the kingdom is kinda the result of that. When Albedo and Demiurge get stymied by human stupidity, he's not devious enough to save the plot so they just kinda collectively default to his general policy of "play nice or die" because without subtlety they default to overkill.
And wow this got long. So yeah, anyway, those are my thoughts. He's handling the situation reasonably well all things considered, but outside of combat he's not particularly good doing subtlety deliberately. Politics is hard.

Yeah but the fight was really short compared in the LN. The Elemental Skull "Ainz" summoned in the anime didn't even cast a single spell, while in the LN "Ainz" actually fight Riku in a close combat while the Elemental Skull cast 10th tier spells one after another.

No, none of Ainz's friends are in the NW, however other players from Yggdrasil have been transported to the NW across time, usually every 100 years, starting with the 6 Gods, then the 8 Greed Kings, and even 2 of the Heroes from the Thirteen Heroes to which Evil Eye and PDL were members (the hunted down the "evil deities" who were player NPCs), plus others players in the past.
That black and white haired half-elf girl with the Rubik's Cube who is a member of the Black Scripture of the Slane Theocracy was the daughter of a player who was kidnapped and r-ped by the Elf King till she got pregnant to which she fled with her newborn daughter to the Slane Theocracy.
But other than God-Kin, i.e. children of Players, Ainz is the only player currently in the New World but he's no where near the first player to come to the new world, but none of them are his guild mates.

A lot of people are against Ainz's ways but I believe it is because you are looking at it from a "human" point of view.

He's lucky when it comes to things like political scheming. He's actually smart when it comes to combat. He's always lecturing the NPCs about that too because they all just assume they don't need strategy because they can steamroll anything.
@@dotnet97 wtf you talking about? Demiurge's whole character arc is literally scheming and planning and only by Ainz's luck that he can "outwit" his plans. He doesn't even plan anything in the battles he let his subjects do the briefing, pretends to understand it and just trip and do some miraculous feat that he himself doesn't know the effects.
@@kaelthunderhoof5619 It's the whole plan about world domination, but Ainz specialty is strategic approach about PvP and managements hence his position as Guild Master, Ainz is lucky but he is not a fool, he lack the knowledge of political engagement but he does know how to do some management and PvP tactics from Yggsrasil
@@darkerrex1442 Yeah agreed, I mean when he was in Yggdrasil he was well versed in PVP and won a lot of them despite using a semi-optimal build just by collecting info about the opponent. Not as strong as touch me, but still can handle well on his own.
@@darkerrex1442 he only knows the game side of things but anything else is a complicated thing to him. If you ever read vol. 15-16 the stupidity of Ainz is ever present there. He's just lucky that the misunderstanding that he cause is a mystery to his enemies coz he's just an idiot without a plan.
Ainz’s effort to make Re-Estize Kingdom an example to other nations makes a great deal of sense, the Mongols did this many times, Kiev and Samarkand being two examples. The problem was the casus belli used made no sense. It was so trivial and impossible for any other kingdom to guard against; it would have ensured every nation knew Ainz was someone you could never trust. This would have resulted in the Sorcerers kingdom being built on a foundation of sand, not wise.
The other issue was an important character arc of Ainz was his desire to make his friend proud of what he was doing, if they should very reappear. If “Touch Me” found out what Ainz did and the reason why he did it he would not be proud of Ainz.
Finally, the attack against the supply wagons of the Sorcerer Kingdom was a surprise to Ainz, yet later you had the impression this was part of Renner’s plan. Whatever Renner’s plan was the response to the attack on the wagons would have thrown any prior plan out of the window.
If the casus belli was significant enough, perhaps a threat to the Great Tomb of Nazarick itself, then the war would make sense and be justified.
In the end Ainz provided an explanation why he was exterminating so many people when he met with Prince Zanac. In the meeting he said he wanted his friend to be happy, which once again would make sense if Ainz did not have a character-arc associated with impressing his former comrades.
I think that cassus belli was alright when viewed from a perspective of a ultra powerful nation. (It would be like sril lanka attacking USA supplies which was intended to help Ukraine)
As for that meeting with zanac i take it as ainz finally acknowledging that his friends are not in this world(from now on he focuses completely on the npcs)
@@bullymaguire5838 You could be correct, on the other hand at the beginning of season four Ainz does talk about making his kingdom something his old friends would be proud of. By the end of season 4 he may have come to the conclusion his friends were not in the world, but I am not so sure. I feel he still has some hope of finding his friends.
As for a powerful nation against a weak nation, if Ainz firmly believed that he was overwhelmingly power and no-one could stand up to him you are correct. But once again Ainz, having a important character attribute of being cautious, does not believe this. One key character-arc Ainz possesses is protecting Great Tomb of Nazarick and part of that is enabling his NPC family to think outside the box. This does indicate he still fears there is an unknown enemy out their which could threaten him. This is one reason he employers the adventurers to explore at the start of season 4, find threats, find players and hopefully find his friends.
The story arc works, but I feel not enough thought went into the casus belli.

@@bullymaguire5838 Very true, however if they had the same emotion suppression that Ainz experiences I suspect they may be closer to the un-emotional Ainz. I do wonder if the emotion suppression is something to do with Ainz being an eldritch or is it something that occurs to all people transported to the New World.
