This song to MCR is definitely what Bohemian Rhapsody is to Queen
Actually is to Punk Rock what Bohemian Rhapsody is to Rock
This is what I was literally thinking
I was going to say.... He gives me sooooooo many Freddie vibes in this performance ♥️
That’s was the idea
@@TheOtherGuy021 you mean emo
I’ve never heard a better description for the song than “This was not a song this was an anthem.”
So fucking good. I had chills and tears
ITS NOT A BAND. ITS AN IDEA.
I've always said that if this song wasn't by MCR (whom I love) then it would be one of the great rock anthems of the world. Like, maybe the song that all rock music would look to as a goal.
if he was talking about the game i will never forgive him, anthem game is so bad.
@@blodhthringa MCR took Pachelbel's Canon in D and said hold my beer. Half of pop/rock music is looking to this as a goal without evening knowing it.

Oh! I 'll get the cookies to celebrate!
Emo haters: “omg they’re so satanic”
Alex: “this has such Christian beliefs”
why do you have to be an emo fan to like this song? I'm defenitely not a fan of emos (I do fully respect them and stuff but I can't imagine myself being one) but last night I couldn't sleep cause I was fucking crying all night thinking of this song damn
nothing wrong with satanism
@@Noah_2008 True

@@Noah_2008 There is plenty wrong with satanism mate.
Took a shower, forgot to take off my eyeliner and accidentally joined the black parade.
that was horrible but amazing at the same time, bravo 👏
I’m just dying
Best comment ever!
This song isn’t even good. Helena is their best song.
Michael Pun why are you here then
Alex: this song is about god and heaven
Also Black Parade: mama we all go to hell
Christian faith, that's what it's about
Mama is about war horror, so, in the middle of a battle to death, no doubt a believer would think about the chance of going to hell.
@@kaderloop785 it uses Christian imagery, but I believe it uses them as strictly metaphors rather than any attempt to actually comment on faith or Christianity.
@@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502 well it is a known fact that every single member of the group is catholic
Do you come from a Catholic background, Gerard?”
“ I do. I was raised Catholic. Yeah, there was a lot of fear, a lot of fire and brimstone. My death obsession came from being raised Catholic. I found church pretty scary. So yes, there is Catholic imagery on the new album. There was on the last record as well. I think that’s always going to be in my work. It’s kind of unavoidable.”
“This is not a song. It’s an Anthem.” I have never felt something on such a spiritual level before. Even my parents, who are in their mid to late 40s love this song. That says something
I think your parent was still young when they heard MCR for the first time in 2006. This song played everywhere at that time.
Edit: sorry, this anthem played everywhere at that time.
I'm 59 and still get chills. My mom adores it and Famous Last Words.
Me almost in my 30s: tries to leave the emophase behind.

But then the Corona nation attacked
Either way, there was never any point in mentioning the G note. I don't even get why fangirls always lose their shit when they hear that note. What makes it so special? Like, c'mon. :D
STVNIX okay so, the first note in the beginning of the song on the piano is a g note, and since they were broken up since 2013 until October of 2019, and this is one of the most beloved songs, it would make them upset because they would think about mcr being broken up.
It physically pains me that there are people that have never heard of experienced this song. When this came out, it was a way of life. No matter what group you were in, this song literally brought everyone together. It’s absolutely incredible.
basically our generations bohemian rhapsody
I was in High School in 2006 when this dropped. Grade 10. I was like 15 almost 16. I'm coming up on 33 now.
I remember hearing it softly echoing occasionally at Lunch in the Caff.

No, no, no... You're thinking of it wrong. Every day there are people who get to experience this song for the first time.
"This was not a song this was an anthem,"
Every time my bros went out to drink, they mostly wanted to go singing too. And when they get super drunk, they told me they get to be singing their national anthem.
I don't know what song they meant. But around the time I came along, after an hour or two, before calling it a night, they told me it's time for the national anthem.
And, what do you know? It was MCR's Welcome To The Black Parade.
By the time the piano started playing, everyone in that room gave their versions of approval to the song, even I did too because I love this song. Most of us stood up, and we were raising our hands up and nodding our heads along with the melody.
We all get to sing that song together, sharing just one microphone. There were more than five of us. Some were standing in front of the screen, others were at the back but were still excited. And we were jumping and singing our lungs and hearts out, shouting because some of us can't reach that high. Even one of the descent singers with us was having a hard time with the song he was kneeling and crouching lower and lower as the song progressed.
By the end of the song, everyone was panting and laughing, some, or all of us, having sore throats.
Some of us would often refuse to sing, but every time the 'national anthem' hits, we all just went nuts.
Music does bring people together. And to me, Welcome To The Black Parade really is an anthem.
Yup
Welcome to the Black Parade is one of the hardest songs to sing
I'm 50 yo, I love this song.
"Helena" and "Ghost Of You"
And pretty much the entire Black Parade album.
Skip black parade and go to 3 cheers away better

"Famous Last Words" from my chemical romance is a must!

"I was not expecting this!" Trust me when I say no reactor ever does.
Try "Famous Last Words" by them

Both of those are amazing:)
I say he should check out House Of Wolves
OMG the intro is soo cool
The lyrics in the chorus gives goosebumps
"I am not afraid to keep on livin', I am not afraid to walk this world alone"
Agree
I have famous last words lyrics tattooed 🤣🤣
Gerard Way is seriously one of the most talented artists of our generation. Fun fact, this album is supposed to tell the story of a man who dies and must come to terms with his death and move on into the afterlife.
This was seriously one of the best songs of the entire 2000s. The fullness of this song is almost unbelievable. It's like bohemian rhapsody but rock/punk
I think that punk description fits “ Jesus of suburbia” by green day .This was more like emo bohemian rhapsody
@@kinggloxinia5091 When I think emo I think screaming not singing. Their outfits sure, outside of that no.

Gotta do Helena too. Not the biggest fan of this band but those songs are fire.

This was me last year and jesus did I regret that!
I have heard this but never pay attention to the lyrics (and the title). I don't regret it because I still have undiscovered gems.
I commented above that I'm 52 and I know who they are.
Omg IKR! I went completely emo and also listening to MCR and Avril did it haha
I wouldn't have heard it, if it wasn't for a NHL game opening with this, back in 2013.. all my roommates started singing the intro in unison, and I was like "Is this song old?", they were floored exclaiming 'How could I not?'; but I really only listened to 70s/80s music in the 2000s, so this wasnt even on my radar.

MCR was and still is one of the best bands of the 2000's, the lyrics of their songs are so powerful and helped a lot of teens with drugs, anxiety and depression problems. They formed in 2001 because of 9/11, the singer Gerard Way was heading to work when he saw the airplanes heading to the tower, he started writing songs and one of them which was the first song ever written by him was "Skylines and Turnstiles" which talks about 9/11 and it's from the first album I Brought You My Bulllets, You Brought Me Your Love. The band has only 5 members, Gerard Way on lead vocals, Frank Iero on lead guitar and some backing vocals, Raymond Toro on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Mikey Way (Gerard's brother) on Bass guitar and Matt Pelissier but then he left and Bob Bryar joined the band. They have only 4 other albums like Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, The Black Parade, Danger Days and Conventional Weapons. All of their albums are amazing and has stories on it but Conventional Weapons and I Brought You My Bulllets You Brought Me Your Love which only talks about anxiety, depression and 9/11. The band broke up on March 22 of 2013 and the members of the band worked on solo projects, Frank has 3 bands Leathermøuth, Death Spells and Frank Iero and The Future Violents, Gerard worked on his comic The Umbrella Academy which has a netflix series and has an album called Hesitant Alien, Mikey worked with his band Electric Century and Ray made a solo album. They came back as a band in 2019 and I love how the band is remembered til this day after 6 years of inactivity. Songs you need to try: Mama, I Never Told You What I Do For A Living, Helena, House Of Wolves, Sleep, Honey This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Both Of Us, Skylines and Turnstiles, Vampire Money, Vampires Will Never Hurt You, Boy Division, Hang Em High, The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You and Destroya.
I wont read all of this
Is it just me or is it the summary of Spotify 👀(either way I'm now madly in love with you)
Amazing summary and suggestions!! I also suggest "All the Angels", which is only like a very rough copy because the song was never meant to be released fully (It was going to be on The Black Parade album but they decided against it), and "Heaven Help Us"!
Gonna be honest I was very emotional when I heard that they got back together, they meant so much to me sand helped me through a lot of hard times.
Good choices! I'd personally add headfirst for halos, our lady of sorrows and thanks for the venom. Ooh, and prison too! (You know what they do to...)
“Famous last words”, "Teenagers" or "I'm Not Okay"
