Hahaha. I’m OKAY would be soooo good for him to listen to next.
@@calliemae601 YESS!!!
😂😂 spot on
Lmfao this comment has me dead good record for him to get introduced to MCR tho I would have probably picked either famous last words or helena
@@mikerbear89 I totally agree, also, I freaken love Helena.
There're 3 genre hymns:
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- Welcome to the Black parade
- Jesus of Suburbia
November Rain would be there too
these are all part of the rock genre tho
@@HalfFey not really my man
@@randommasta12 Rock, Punk, Punk Rock, and Soft Rock, they all descended from the Blues, they're all similar in Genre.
Still not sure which sub genre of Punk MCR is
@@GameboyFanatic emo is a genre of punk i think
Fun Fact: So there is a belief that when you die your favorite memory comes to you in your moment of death. That is what this video and song are about. He's remembering when his father took him into the city and brought him to the parade. I think it's an amazing version of that belief and My Chemical Romance brings it tenfold with a forceful and yet incredible lyrical and musical tribute.
True. The whole album was Grammy worthy.
you're partially right.
a dying character with cancer known as "The Patient". The album tells the story of his apparent death, experiences in the afterlife, and subsequent reflections on his life.
maybe in another song in the album shows his father taking him to the city to listen to the parade, but its definitely not what this song is about.
This entire album was so good for the year it was released the meanings behind the song. Famous Last Words was about the drummer leaving and Gerard wanting him back which he did come back.
@@jasonbuckley4118 In the album commentary Gerard says exactly what the other guy said, while the whole song isn’t about that, the entire imagery of the black parade is his favourite memory of his father taking him to the parade which now that memory is what takes him to death
@@darkraisprodigy3696 Well, it's actually about Mikey departing the band for quite a bit due to his depression and use of pills, and not to mention those things got heigtened when they stayed in a haunted mansion for the recording of the Black Parade.
"It's crazy how they just flipped the whole song like that."
Welcome to My Chemical Romance.

Same but honestly it was perfect when I did hear it the first time in middle school everyone was going through fazes I was a normal person who loved what the emos was jamming 😂 all this songs even panic at the disco always playing at dances !
Haha yea man, first time was an experience
Still get the hairs standing up when I hear this tune, and have to revisit it erry now and then when I need a boost. The only shame is that their debut mainstream song was this, a masterpiece, and was damn near impossible to top.
You hear that first G note then suddenly, nostalgia rushes you..

Legendary band. They left an absolutely ABSURD amount of impact in the rock/emo/post-hardcore scene.
Their new single just dropped a couple days ago!!!
Arguably they have made the hardest impact on the emo/rock/grunge music. No one can really change my mind.
@@ThePositive0ne1 I think bands like Led Zep, Queen and the beatles all had a greater impact on rock as a whole, but otherwise I'd agree
@@peterbarrow7547 I mean I'm talking about a different genre of rock music. They are the in like the original rock genre.
I can remember when they burst onto the scene seeing them on Fuse back in the day. I shrugged them off as too emo for me at the time, but enjoyed a couple songs.... then this album came out... instant forever fan here.
Ain't no way anybody doesn't like this masterpiece. It's the fucking anthem.
Well my sister hates it
@@qisjsjsiaiajw8ej ahhhhh she needs more taste in music

This song was a generations bohemian rhapsody
You're are god damn right. I've been saying that for years. :p
exactly!
It really is. Down to the rock opera feeling in both songs. It transitions and ties in a few times just like bo rap too.
This song came out right in the middle of me doing year 11 musicianship at school. We had to do a comparison piece between a modern song mimicking/taking influence from older music, and I actually chose this, and Bohemian Rhapsody.
bohEMOan rhapsody
Really digged how much he's bopping to this song, guy clearly likes good music regardless of genre!
I've never met anyone that's a true fan of music that isn't kinda eclectic in their taste. I've definitely listened to Wu Tang back to back with Bach.
Also notice how he managed to drink whilst bopping
Ghost of you
He's loving it and looks adorable in response to the song.
I mean...he gave Pink Floyd a trash...
I love watching people when they hear MCR for the first time. They usually go into it saying, “I don’t know. Not sure if it’ll be my thing.” Then by the end of the song, they’re like, “Whoa! That’s my shit!” It never fails to make me smile, and it always gives me that nostalgia of when I first heard MCR.
One of my ALL time favorite songs. Literally brought tears to my eyes even though this is the millionth time I’ve listened to it.
Every damn time I’m in my car and I listen to the album I tear up. I don’t even know what you call the emotion…just emo nostalgia I guess. ❤️
Every single time ! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Yup. Every damn time over here, too! 🙋🏼♀️😭
I'm always so fascinated by the fact that every "generation" of middle and high schoolers have had a big interest in My Chemical Romance. Kids in 2020 love them just as much as the kids who loved em in 2004.
Kids? Shit I'm 30 and still love them! Lol
Its almos tradition now lol
damn I listen to this song all the time
+AmyM& Beauty Oh thank goodness- there’s more of us! In so many MCR comment sections I feel like an outsider. 23 here and only got into MCR during my final year of high school, have been listening to them ever since. No shame, music that impacts you deeply ought to transcend age anyway.
Currently 17 but discovered them when I was 12, been my favorite band since. Even got to play guitar just to do MCR Covers
The whole concept of the song and video, is a "patient" dying of cancer. He sees death in the form of a marching band escorting him into the afterlife.
Great explanition!!11ONE!
@@rediskindasus7705 that's the whole story behind the album. A patient dying of cancer sees death in the form of a marching band surrounded by figures such as "Fear," and "Regret", and "Mother War" who wears a Victorian dress and a gas mask.
I always thought the black marching band outfits were meant to look like skeletons with how the white stripes laid out
@@doman122979 Yup. That's the concept.
@@myanimation4366 Yeah, TBP is one of my favourite concept albums of all time

“Turn it back up” 😂
This song holds a big place in my heart, i was a very depressed teen and just hearing someone tell me to carry on probably helped a lot looking back.
Same along with "Darlin' You'll be OK" I wrote that in all my notebooks during high school. This song and Hold on Till May by Pierce The Veil really helped through a lot of tough times.
And at that first note, every emo within a 20 mile radius of your position came out of their caves.
LOL
It's not a phase Mom :v
That g note
“Famous Last Words” by My chemical romance is a must my man!
Yes it is
Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) is one of my go to's for getting people into MCR despite the really silly name, especially if you can get it with the intro
I like to use dead! as a starter song
Or I’m not okay
Insaneeee somg
I would highly recommend listening to the whole Black Parade album. The whole album is set with songs that flow into each other and form one complete song that tells the story of the "patient" who is the character shown here, dying from cancer, as he comes to grips with his own mortality.
The entire album is amazing cover to cover.
The worst part about it the end.
Not to be confused with the song The End
It’s arguably the last great rock opera.
Its kind of out of order though no? I thought the wendigoon chronological order made the most sense to me
This is my first time listening to this song, and I'm kinda mad that I've completely ignored My Chemical Romance for so long...this shit's good...
This was an anthem for a lot of kids goin through tough times. Happy you’ve heard it.
Still an anthem for some adults going thru tough times. I was 35 when my pops passed away. I always thought the song was Koo (not much of an emo fan), but 1st time it came on the radio after he passed, I basically had a breakdown. Even now, 5 years later, near the anniversary of his death, it still brings tears to my eyes...
My chemical romance “the ghost of you” is AMAZING!
And the video is so well made too. Hope he watches it.
The only song I like from them lol

So you reacted to the official hymn of a whole genre.
Yep...
The national anthem
Ohh come on dude lol this song and this band DEFINITELY AREN'T like the "anthem" for the entire genre!!! lol I'd honestly barely even consider MCR to be emo, they're more like indie pop rock or something like that.
Dylan Anderson someone’s never listened to their Forest album
@@poncho_x4410 the thing is, okay, they're not emo for sure. but plenty of kids (and not kids) who are emo for sure, have this as their national anthem of "emo-ness". so it doesn't matter the genre, it's still our national anthem (plus it is in large part emo)

And ... it’ll carry on.... carry on...

How is that nuts? Led Zeppelin albums are still relevant after 40-50 years. Granted MCR are by no means Led Zeppelin level and never will be, but they still were popular enough to have lifelong fans. Not me personally, because this is the only song I like by them, but I can't deny how big they were.
Probably because the themes are fairly eternal - life, loss, death, hope

Best reaction ever!!! I keep coming back to it. Such a powerful song!!! Didn’t even realize how great it was until recently and losing my mom. My Chemical Romance was my whole childhood! No other band like them. The Black Parade is forever the MCR anthem.

Love your videos man. Your knowledge and appreciation for music is awesome.
Can I just say that watching someone react to Black Parade for the first time feels like an honor and a blessing.
Honestly, just do a whole album reaction. Each song fits better and better in the context of the whole album, which I believe is a modern masterpiece, to the likes of Queen's "A Night at the Opera" and Pink Floyd's "The Wall." The album is about a Cancer Patient, "The Patient," who is reflecting on his life and is contemplating what his afterlife is going to be like. The Whole Marching band thing is his biggest memory of going to see a Marching band as a kid, so that's how Death has come to greet him. It's a great, front-to-back album with a lot of different pacings, and an abundance of absolute energy packed rockers throughout.
Unpopular opinion : It's worth noting that this album is amazing, cover to cover, and would be their best had they not released the Danger Days concept album that somehow managed to be more mature than The Black Parade.
@@ScottLovenberg Besides the last part, That's a very popular opinion amongst fans. I very much enjoy Danger Days, but I don't feel that it is more "mature" per se. I feel that the concept and execution of TBP is their pinnacle, and that the content they are Handling, such as in the song "Cancer," is done very well. Almost every person I've seen listen to that song has some connection because they hit it so well and made it very relatable. I feel the whole concept of Death and the Afterlife in TBP is a far more adult and heavier topic to deal with; with the manner they carried "restrained" anger throughout the album from "The Patient's" life, and bring it all to an end in "Disenchanted" and "Famous Last Words" is the prime example of what I've been explaining thus far. The patient's acceptance of his fate displays their own maturity, as they show in their musicality, and their restraint of the whole angry rock/metal vibe they had carried in the majority of the Album.
Again, I love Danger Days still, but I don't feel like it hits as "mature" in my opinion. I believe the musical style seemed too experimental and "pop-like" in several songs, to be truly considered as a mature album. I think that the whole "Protectionist" vibe they have in many songs such as "Save Yourself...." is a very mature concept, but It doesn't seem to carry as well and as heavy/relatable as the overall concepts in TBP. "Only Hope.." is in my mind, the most adult song on the list simply because it feels like a "shoot your shot" kind of message at the beginning, and rolls into a nice and sweet song about a relationship.
For sake of conversation, we may not agree on which album Is sonically the best, primarily because we may have different tastes slightly, but I will stand by my point of TBP being the more Mature album, with sonically better execution and messaging. (Besides "sleep" because that is just a wall of sound, but that wall of sound is even deep by the patient's subconscious telling him to "Wake up" while being drowned out by the wall of sound.)
@@cameronbowshlagger2722 well articulated response. I think you may have changed my mind on the maturity between the two albums.
