This was definitely worth the wait. The views in the bright sunshine are just stunning. And the details are as crisp as I’ve ever seen. Great work, and thank-you.
Hey Christine Thank you for your new story about the Bergen Railway. From the first to the last minute one could be with you and experience what your passion is. Details such as counting the turns on the screw coupling are anything but trivial when you have almost 1,500 tons. on the hook. Then the ascent from spring into the mountains where winter is at home. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. During my Navy career I have been to Trondheim and Hammerfest in 1976 and Bergen in 1994. I haven't been to Norway's interior. After completing this video, MY GOD! What a wondrously beautiful country you have! Absolutely stunning! Thank you for this!
I looked up specs on the Bombardier TRAXX locomotives. Most impressive. I am greatly impressed of the entire system. Fantastic! I appreciate everything you do for all of us. You are the best! ❤
Fantastic new quality ! I think I have now watched all your older videos, and enjoyed them immensely. Thank you for doing all this work. I'm proud to be a new supporting member. My brother (just retired), father and grandfather all drove trains in Germany. Josef drove steam, Hans electric, and Wolfgang electric and diesel. No FLIRT, they seem to prefer the Siemens train in Germany. Riding along next to the "number 1 seat" was always a great experience. Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof was tricky, it's like Oslo Sentralstasjon where you end up sitting right in front of all the people at the terminal, and the Railroad Police frown on ride-alongs. I had always bought a ticket beforehand, which kept me out of trouble with the Deutsche Bahn. Lots of similarities with VY in signaling and train operation. Not at all similar to Norfolk-Southern, which has trains passing near my house every day here in Georgia, USA. Ride safe always !(horn blow)
Thank you for another wonderful portrait of the Bergen line, in its ever changing appearances thanks to time of day, weather, season & logging! As beautiful as the intitial Sun-lit parts were, my favourite part was the reflection of the pink sky in the melting lake before Ustaoset.
Excellent trackwork......smooth ride........fine locomotives.....having done a lot of Penn Central cab rides in my life.....I'm slowly learning your signal system your videos are so clear and informative....I
Another wonderful video of beautiful Norway. Our railways here in New Zealand are a shadow of their former self, but some of the scenery is quite spectacular too.
Appreciate seeing the coupling process, so much different than North America. I always wondered about the European couplers, now I know! Just a perfect day for photography and video, that late afternoon and evening warm sunlight is just the best. Also the angle of the sun brings out just enough shadows so you really get the feeling of depth. The landscape stuff can be tricky, what the eye sees and what the camera sees can be a lot different. Your videos are helping me stay sane in a crazy world!
Great video CowGirl, especially liked the beginning coupling up and engaging air hoses and such. Those were some seriously close clearances passing by those containers, squeaked by. Thanks for posting this video, enjoyed it.
Never gets old! Have taken this ride with you ‘1,000’s’ of times and Norways’s beauty is always in abundance. The 4K image is stunning. Thank you for sharing with us all.
Hi RCG, I just managed a 10 min taster on my laptop but I've decided to wait until tomorrow when I can watch it undisturbed in all it's 4k glory on a BIG screen, so far it looks blooming great, well worth the wait but I'm not surprised you always deliver, well done and thanks.
You are superbly Blessed to have a job where you get to see so much of Norway's spectacular scenery! And we, your viewers, are immensely grateful that you choose to share your experiences with us! Thank You!!
Got home from my morning walk, in the rain, and got your FB notification. Sat down immediately to watch this beautiful sunny afternoon! Thank you, D, for persisting with YT to get this posted! Well worth the wait, 😍.
I've been watching RCG since the channel had a different name, and I am very impressed with the stunning quality of the video in this post and of course, the spectacular landscape. Somehow you've managed to take the quality to a new height. RCG you do all of us a great service with these extraordinary videos. Thank you! Cheers.
Both the BR187 and Eurodual has this capability. The BR187 has this functionality for use to get to an from tracks without overhead wire, with a last mile battery unit to get out of the workshop without polluting the whole building with exhaust. The Last Mile Functionality is not made to pull whole trains for longer distances. The Eurodual on the other hand has a full diesel engine as well that we can use when needed. :)
Thank you so much for impressive section prior to journey , that underlines physical difficulties of your task as well .. Congrats young lady .. Stay healthy
Back on the train with RailCowGirl. If you don't enjoy this, well I feel sorry for you. If you upset, this will relax you. If you are having problems sleeping, the sound of the train will help you get to sleep. If you want scenic travel at its best, here it is.
Hi RCG, you never cease to amaze the audience. I confess to being amazed, by the excellent quality of the video, it is evident that you have very good equipment and you know how to make a very professional use of it. Of the beautiful, wild and harmonious landscapes, well it is redundant and reiterated to ponder it. You are blessed by God, to be surrounded by beautiful nature. I appreciate observing the good disposition and management in the maintenance of the materials and equipment of tracks and railway works. How always grateful for sharing your videos, which are part of your existence. Good luck dear lady. 👍
Many thanks for showing us the trip in early summer. The countryside looks wonderful in the late evening light. I look forward to the remainder of the trip into Oslo.
As I watch these Bombardier TRAXX locomotives, they remind me of my earlier days at Unisys Corporation. We had a term for things like these locomotives. We call them "amazingly adequate". I am now a big fan of these trains and, of course, the lovely Railcowgirl. Rock on!
Cool, caught a glimpse of the moose! Interesting to see the change from no snow on the ground to there being snow on the ground as you climb. Loved this one, thanks!

Impresionante esperiencia para los que amamos el ferrocarril. Gracias amigo por tu magnífico trabajo.!!! Un saludo desde Barcelona.!!! Hasta el próximo viaje!!!
Most excellent, RCG! Loved the way you chased the setting sun up the mountain, culminating with a last ray of sunlight in a snowshed. Fortunately others have asked my questions that you've answered already (couplers, diesel operations, train length), I think I already know why you didn't sound the horn a couple of times!
Great to have another video from you, RCG! And it's cool to start with shunting. Funny, the very first time I heard this, strange to me then, term was in your video from 26 november 2017, "TRAIN DRIVER'S VIEW: Evening information run between Ål and Voss", which still is one of my favourite vids.
Today’s view was fun watching your progress via google maps. When you show the upcoming station, I search for it in and look at where you are on the tracks then try to figure out what direction you are going. Looking for where you go into tunnels and where you come out is challenging. Sometimes I get lost until I see the next station.. lots of fun❣️thank you
watched it twice - loved it! especially the coupling and shunting-scenes in the beginning are great! btw: excellent new camera and video-editing. thank you!
My mate way hauling 27tonnes of pipe to Oslo the other day and sent me some videos of the E16 above the line, absolutely stunning planning a visit to Bergen and Forde next year
I thought the change to the Black Magic Cinema 6K camera was awesome.... this camera blows the Black Magic out of the water... simply incredible... I swear I could do rock id on the fly. Mega Kudos!!!
It sure does. There is a huge difference from the BMPCC, both in sensor size and technology. The BMPCC has a Super 35 sized sensor with 6K resolution whilst the Sony FX3 has a 35mm full size sensor with 4K. With a bigger sensor and fewer pixels, more light hit's the pixels :D This gives you much better low light capabilities :D
You are blessed! I wish I had your job!! The scenery, peaceful, no idiot coworkers. 😁🤪I’m picking up on the meaning of the signs watching your vids and also just started enjoying Train Sim 2! Haha! God bless, from Michigan, USA.
Splendid Film. 616 meter and 1343 ton thats quite a monstertrain at Bergensbana. That line is curvy and steep. Its no easy task to drive a train at that size on that line. Note: The first yellow trailer behind the locomotives is a coffe trailer. If RCG's train would have a breakdown, at least she will have plenty of coffe. Thats the stoff that keep the railroad going.
That is a fantastic cab view video, you obviously know how to use your camera equipment very well indeed. That is also an amazing line (Bergen to Oslo) to travel, now on my bucket list! I've travelled on the Flam line a long time ago so the scenery around Mydal was familiar. Bright sunshine in Bergen yard to a snowfield all in one run, and the tunnels were very interesting. Thank you for posting these videos, it was pure magic to watch.
Thank you @martybhoy72 :) Since you're in Scotland, you should check out the currency exchange. Norway is super cheap for the everyone now, since our currency completely tanked.
As I have mentioned before, there isn't much that you wouldn't do for your viewers. The new camera/lens and post processing software are examples of this. You, are without a doubt, my favorite train driver's YT channel!! The quality of your videos is professional and the best on YT!!!! Thank you so much for your dedication to your fans!! Please keep up the excellent work! Dave
Love your beautiful country RCG ! The small towns and less busy roads make me wish I were there. I believe the air must always be fresh and clean.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊 !
Wow! Just wow! That was amazing 4 hours! I've seen a lot of cab view videos but non was this high quality. An I love how you present it with all the little details and additional information. Thank you!
As a train driver, I must say this is the most beautiful job in the world for me. I work doing the same things you do in Spain and I wanted to be a train driver since I was only 4 years old. Railway conquered my heart and I am in love with it since then. I also love so much Norway since I was a teenager. How hard would it be to me if I wanted to work in a Norwegian company as an engine driver? Because I love the idea and it would make me very happy despite I love my country too. Congratulations for such an illustrative and teaching video for those who have not all the knowledge involving this awesome job. You have explained everything so clear and you are able to make other people understand which things and why are you doing them. I have found this video by chance but I am so grateful to the algorithm of UA-cam. You have a new suscriptor and I hope you continue uploading new videos and sharing those nice Norwegian landscapes with us. Best regards :)!
Hello Fran, Since you probably already have the European License, you are eligible to apply for any jobs for what your license is approved for. They will then probably send you to the railway academy to get the necessary education on Norwegian signaling and procedures. Since Norwegian is not your native language, you will have to learn the language as well and pass a language test. Always awesome to meet colleagues from other parts of the world :D
Greetings from Florida, USA. Wonderful video. Watched every minute of it and enjoyed it immensely. Didn't see the moose, lol. Thank you for the great ride!!
3:56:50 I always found it cool that your locomotives made music when they powered up, the closest thing in the United States is when a freight car has a flat spot and it sounds like someone’s playing drums on a metal trashcan nearby lol thanks for sharing
Everything has already been said!!! Congratulations don’t change, continue to improve. For m’y part, i will continue to put the thumb before I see your video
Greetings from Sydney. It was a little warmer here today than it was when this trip was made. We hit a record 35c for this day with very high humidity. I am glad I have an Air Con.
Guess that Expresso House has good coffee to get your day going. Also, you say that your train has 17 cars. In looking at the rest of your train as you pull ahead to do your doubling, I see that they are articulated cars with 4 containers on each. So, your car is one of those articulated units, correct. Surprise you had to couple your own train instead of one of the ground personnel doing it, though gess you were helping out since the ground person had to be guiding you to the second join.. That is an amazing video recorder! As you went through the new tunnel between Bergan and Arne you could see the irregularities in the shotcrete, especially when you slowed down for that red signal. At Myrdal you passed a Bergan bound regional train, at time point 2:26:25 there is a car in the train that is slightly different from the others. I have noticed this car on trains passing the Finse cam and wondered about them, a handicapped accessible car by chance.
each car has 3 boggies, six axels and can take either semies or containers :D So yes articulated units :D Usually it is the ground crew that does the coupling, but we're a team and we work together to make the days go as smooth as possible. So when the terminal crew, awesome people, does their things I can help out with coupling the engine to the train :) it costs me so little to do it and it makes such a big difference in the flow for everyone else :) The ground crew has to guide, I'm not able to or allowed to do that procedure without someone way back there making sure every thing goes smooth. And they couple and we do the break test. The "unusual" car is a "new" addition. Vy bough some old cars from DB in Germany that they were to scrap. Then they refurbished them and sell tickets for the compartment which can hold 6 people. So if you're loaded with dollarinos, you can buy the whole compartment. They are not sold as single seats. You have to purchase for the whole compartment.
Great Tour... I think I got most of the signage figured out. the only ones I could not find were the Diamond with the vertical black line The Circle and the Black dot in the Diamond. P.s. You forgot a couple of Toots HAHAHAHAH... It's amazing how a Curves can be laid out in a Tunnel and Figuring where it will come out. Quite the varying speed changes along the route too... Ever see any wildlife in the tunnels.. I only saw the Moose You pointed out.. Mike M Central WIs, USA.
Thanks :D I don't need to honk at places where the signals marks a halt, because I do not stop at halt as those are for passenger trains. Only trains with scheduled stop needs to sound the horn. If you want the answer to the ATC-signalling, I recommend you sign up for my newsletter, The Monthly Moo. I go in depth in several subjects there like how the line block and signalling work. Animals are generally not stupid enough to venture into a dark tunnel. We occasionally see foxes and weasels in the shorter tunnels but never in the long ones.
Never get tired of watching as you travel down the tracks. One thing I noticed is that the trackside signs seem to be easier to read than your latest two videos.
2:45 that little shunter engine popping by saying hello. Adorable.
CargoNETs little shunter is an adorable little thing :D
Wow simply wow. The image quality is spectacular. So good to see the route in better weather and, after so long with various amounts of lock down, with more people out and about. Thank you for posting these videos, it was pure magic to watch.
wow! what fabulous scenery!
thankyou very much
Glad you enjoyed it
I keep saying I want to visit your beautiful country but I don't know when I will. Your videos are so relaxing. Sending you love from Scotland
Dave
Working on the next installment :)
The video clarity is amazing. Thank you.
Thank you!
6 minutes and 12 seconds in, and I'm already happy. What more can I say?

Love your beautiful country RCG ! The small towns and less busy roads make me wish I were
there. I believe the air must always be fresh and clean.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊 !

Danke!
Thank you so so so much ❤️❤️❤️
Wow! Just wow! That was amazing 4 hours! I've seen a lot of cab view videos but non was this high quality. An I love how you present it with all the little details and additional information. Thank you!
what a beautiful place to live and work...
It really is!
Hello Fran,
Since you probably already have the European License, you are eligible to apply for any jobs for what your license is approved for.
Thank you very much!
Very cool video, the clarity is great....and such a beautiful country! Cheers from Aotearoa New Zealand.
Thank you so much!

RCG, what a beautiful video! It’s gorgeous in 4k, wish I had a Qlead tv to watch it on…

Thank YOU for watching and being a part of the journey ❤️
Wow, the lighting in the tunnels is SO much better with the new camera!
I know, it's awesome, right!! :D
Great stuff again Rail Cow Girl.Very sharp especially on the shots featuring rapids. You are still the best,by far.
3:56:50 I always found it cool that your locomotives made music when they powered up, the closest thing in the United States is when a freight car has a flat spot and it sounds like someone’s playing drums on a metal trashcan nearby lol thanks for sharing
Hello from NYC, I love your videos, however, my wife and I are going to plan a trip to Beautiful Norway.
owesome journey with view keep it up this is Indian Railways Fan club support it...😊🙏😊
Everything has already been said!!! Congratulations don’t change, continue to improve. For m’y part, i will continue to put the thumb before I see your video
Thanks you Regrettable of the impossibility of a 2nd ich ;-))))
Beautiful bright at night.
Glad you enjoyed it!
3:44:18 Left on the rock. A green heart for you💚👍
Greetings from Sydney. It was a little warmer here today than it was when this trip was made. We hit a record 35c for this day with very high humidity. I am glad I have an Air Con.
What a job driving a train with that view, but then a thought occured to me, they know what's around the next corner. Lucky sods!
I have noticed this car on trains passing the Finse cam and wondered about them, a handicapped accessible car by chance.
each car has 3 boggies, six axels and can take either semies or containers :D So yes articulated units :D
Usually it is the ground crew that does the coupling, but we're a team and we work together to make the days go as smooth as possible. So when the terminal crew, awesome people, does their things I can help out with coupling the engine to the train :) it costs me so little to do it and it makes such a big difference in the flow for everyone else :)
The ground crew has to guide, I'm not able to or allowed to do that procedure without someone way back there making sure every thing goes smooth.
Love your video's thank you :) Mostly relaxing but the winter snow one was scary! great job
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good moment to view this nice day on spring . Thank you.😀
Glad you enjoyed it
The video quality is amazing. Definitely worth the wait.
Yay, thank you!
Great Tour...
I think I got most of the signage figured out. the only ones I could not find were the Diamond with the vertical black line
The Circle and the Black dot in the Diamond.
Thanks :D
I don't need to honk at places where the signals marks a halt, because I do not stop at halt as those are for passenger trains.
Stunning scenery. I'd love to visit Norway again.
You should! :D
@@RailCowGirl I was there many years ago with my school and stayed in chalets on the Hardangerfjord. Maybe one day :)
Never get tired of watching as you travel down the tracks. One thing I noticed is that the trackside signs seem to be easier to read than your latest two videos.
