This is the first of a few videos from our trip to the Tehachapi Loop!
We stayed at an awesome Air BNB right by the tracks, and only a 5 minute walk away from an incredible overlook of the Tehachapi Loop!
Unfortunately nothing ran on this day for about 6 hours! I waited it out, relaxing up on the hill side rocks, and got two in the after Sunset Twilight!
First train is a Southbound BNSF Manifest, climbing the hill, up and around the Loop!
Next is one of my favorites, the BNSF "Earth Worm" name due to all the uniform brown covered hoppers. They had switch problems at Cable that delayed them untill after sunset, but we still got em, turned out pretty good!
Plus, while I was waiting earlier in the day, I got some close up views of the old Broome Loop Ranch! Really cool!

This was a fun trip! On this day, some kind of work was going on so no trains showed up till after sunset! Still turned out pretty good tho, with the after sunset twilight.
First up was a Southbound BNSF Manifest climbing the hill at 23mph, the track speed in this area.
And next, the "Earthworm", a unit grain train descends the pass, with 3 units on the head end and 3 cut in DPU'S holding back all that tonnage.
I moved down the hill and recorded some nice close up audio of this one!🔊
I've posted more info in the description ⏫️
Leave a comment and like on the video if you liked the views!🎉
Crank it up enjoy the sounds of these diesels powering thru the Tehachapi Pass 😎
Hello Sir is they have plan to make tunnel to short cut that tracks?
Utilization of the Drone is masterful but what takes this video a GIANT leap forward is the editing, the acknowledgement of those who constructed the loop, the explanation for the cross, the B&W photographs of early loop history, the superimposed written commentary and then the tour of the Broome Ranch. You sir are priceless! A historian and a stupendous contribution to the way we were. No way I couldn't subscribe.
@@prius9253 Thank you very much for the kind comment 😎👋
Moat amazing part is that you caught Tehachapi in it's short lived green phase. Thank you so much, this was great!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it!😎
Totally due to perfect timing. YES!!
I had a similar reaction. I'm fairly familiar with the area, I had my career for 34 years in ridgecrest.
And the AUDIO?! How do you say: beyond outstanding!!
Haha thanks! I love the audio!😎
Dammmm I love how when it get ta top goes over bridge the rest is still going under it, then when he pans ,dammmm that's long 😂😂🇬🇧
Haha yea pretty cool 😎
Great... this is by far the best Tehachapi video that I have seen on the internet.
Thank you for that!
Wow! I really enjoyed watching the ginormous, slow moving trains rumble and squeak their way up and down the grade. In the fading light with the mountain tops bathed in a warm glow, the road traffic in the distance was probably oblivious to the majesty at work on the Tehchapi Loop.
Haha, Thank you very much!👋😎
From New Zealand - Incredible video and drone work, thank you.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.😎
By far the best drone work I have seen at Tehachapi
Thank you very much!
The loop ranch, what a wonderful place to live in.
Yea that would be really cool
Great video. Thanks for posting.
almost as interesting as the actual loop are the areas both ends of it. Loved the shot of the head-end units passing the mid-train DPU heading the opposite direction. Also, where the siding has been lengthened and still passes through the old tunnel while the now main avoids it in a cut.
Thanks! Yeah, the details on the line make it even more interesting.
THe shots of trains crossing themselves on the loop is iconic. A long train here is 40 wagons.
It is cool, thanks for watching
This is among the best "Loop" posts I have seen. Congrats!
Thank you!
This is by far the very best video of the TL I have seen. Awesome ! Thank you .
Thanks for watching 😎 Appreciate that!
You pretty much had me on the edge of my chair with excitement from the start to finish. I have to thank you Sir for an absolutely marvelous job with your drone and underlined information. Your footage is amazing.
Haha thank you very much!
Stunning video mate! That’s a great shot of the train coming through the tunnel and around the loop.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!😎
This is definitely the best video I've seen of Tehachapi Loop. A masterpiece, the drone handling and the shots are spectacular along with the historical items. Congratulations, keep up the good work and keep improving. Greetings from Chile.
@@carlosromanmoreno1144 Thank you very much! 😎 I'm trying to improve, get some new angles
Love it. The drone views , the sun going down with a little history and background sound, very well done! This area was made for drones.
Glad you like it, Thank you!
You can get some unique views around here, with the drone !
As interesting a Tehachapi Loop video as one could ever expect to see!👍 You provided an unusual view of the north side cut, as rail-fanning always on the south side. The illuminated tunnel interior in twilight was spectacular!
Yea I thought that was really cool, seeing the North side. Thank you!
Incredible shots! Love the radio talk.
@@bjwhitfield2922 Thanks!
Best aerial view I've seen of this loop ever. Sound quality awesome especially with stereo headphones.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! 😎And it is great listening with headphones !
You're a great drone pilot, you did well with the Tehachapi Loop!
Thank you very much! It was a fun one flying around the loop haha 😎
With the drone coverage, you can see the grade better,...most people filming with their cameras tend to film parallel to the train and track
Yea, you can really see the terrain the RR has to deal with!
This video is so damn good, I just subscribed.
Thanks!😎
This is very cool. Awesome, DPU’s , radio chatter and all.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the radio extras!
Moving pretty fast for an uphill train
Fantastic photography/Drone work. Excellent footage
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you😎
I'm constantly impressed by how the DPUs operate. A good time of year to capture this scenery. Watching in New Zealand
Thanks for watching!
Watching these beyond amazing captures amidst the green, pastural areas that prevail here in mid January is a real treat. The drone you're using has produced arguably some of the best footage of this area ever captured. Awesome!! Thanks for sharing as it really helped make my day. 🙂🙃🙂😉
@@kenster865 Awesome! Thank you very much Ken😎
First time here. Great video!!! Thank you for giving direction! I drove trucks for 30+ years and it was always yea, its there. Sitting here caring for my sick wife I look and I see with open eyes.. Thank You.
That's awesome! Thank you for watching!
Hope your wife is getting better brother
Impressive photography. Have you covered the spiral at the Alberta, British Columbia border on the CN line in Canada. I've seen it first hand, but a drone coverage like this would make a good video, I believe. Thanks for posting
Peace to you and your wife.

Gosh this is amazing video, I loved the intense orange of the 2nd train as it was in the tunnel at the start of its desent down the loop and the beautiful orange lights as it was descending, I’ve never seen a close up of the farm or the cross either.
Throughly enjoyed it ❤❤
Thanks so much
Thanks Carol!
GREAT VIDEO, LOVE THE GLOW OF THE LIGHTS
That did turn out pretty cool! 😎 Thanks!
Absolutely a great video. I have been to Tehachapi many times to railfan and it amazes me how these trains muscle their way through this area
@@kirklonnquist3265 It is, thank you!😎
Excellent video quality and editing of one of the most famous railway inclines in the world. Regards from England.
@@stephenhewitt-r3o Thank you!
Awesome job on the whole video, a big thanks for letting me see something I never knew existed. This will be a keeper.
Thanks!
I've watched a lot of these videos, and since I live pretty close to Tehachapi I've even considered making some myself. But you are the absolute master of the Drone!
Haha Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
"Impressive, most impressive" wonderful video Rob it nice to see the size and scope of this engineering marvel, to do this basically by hand almost a 150 years ago and for it still to being used daily is incredible. Other videos have not done it justice thanks for this. Did you have your hat on? How do you like the new Ferromex paint scheme? That shot coming out of the tunnel with the lights at dusk was beautiful and the camera lens flare was " J.J Abramsesque" hahahah Also to see the head end passing under the mid DPUs going into the tunnel at sunset was epic.
@CalebA-sv2kw It is an impressive place! Haha, no, just a regular ball cap. And i thought that New Ferromex was really cool, i saw it on my screen while i was flying and thought, oh I'm gonna follow this one haha.
Thanks Caleb!
Pretty amazing drone footage! Most of those engines looked either relatively new or were cleaned very well. Most of the engines here in the NE are always dusty and dirty.
Thank you very much! They did look pretty clean haha
Had to watch a second time. Great Work!!! Thank you so much!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Haha, Thanks for watching!😎
Awesome Drone video! Magnificent colors, with around the loop trip. Especially like drone capturing tunnel lead engine lighting, fantastic!!
Thanks!😎
I just noticed this was you Kirk, haha, Thank you😎
Your drone piloting is amazing
@@MrEricmopar Thank you!
Nicely captured. The locomotive light on the trees was great.
I really liked that too! Thanks😎
Amazing video! I love your video style.
Thank you!😎
Fantastic video, beautifully shot, some very nice flying there !!!!!
I appreciate it! I really like this area.
The ferromex loco was sweet. Enjoyed ur video.
Glad you Enjoyed it! That was a cool paint scheme
Very Fantastic catch you dida great job going around the loop
@@GregKenyon-v6i Thanks, i appreciate it 😎
Beautiful work as always.
Thank you!
Nice Dash 8 and SD70 MACe catch
That was cool! Thanks
GREAT VIDEO !
Thanks!
that is absolutely the BEST drone vid of the loop I have ever watched! Thanks!!! Broome Ranch. Sad to see it abandoned. My guess is that taxes and regulations probably made it financially impossible to maintain. Very interesting to see such a great close up view of the place.
Glad you liked it! Thank you very much! I know, sad to see a cool place like that go.
Great ❤ but The Ranch would love to have it. ❤
FANTASTIC!!!!
Hi from the UK. Got to say that was some spectacular footage you got there. Really enjoyed it.
Can I ask what type of drone you use please?
Thanks!😎 It's a mini 3, i have it in the description
@@RRTrainVideos Thanks. Sorry I didn't read the description. Sure gives some great pictures.
Thanks for this clip. Spent a day by Broome road a few years ago as part of a railtour of California with several people from the UK so your information clips are most welcome. We ate at the Keene Cafe which was supurb! We later went on to film in Stockton by the crossover there and got the local police excited (thought we were a gang of drug dealers). Couldn’t believe a group of Limeys were in Stockton most tourists go to San Francisco etc? Which we did end up at. Also filmed on Cajon Pass?
Haha, that's funny. Thanks for watching! I have more here on the channel.
That was absolutely awesome, what a brilliant freight trains 🚆 presentation, fantastic capturing the different time if the day till early dusk 🌆, absolutely awesome video 📹 👏 really great viewing 👍 congrats 👏
Thanks Trevor! I appreciate it!😎
That was one of your best videos.
Awesome video you did a great job. Gary
@@garykcs5532 Thank you Gary😎
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO, WONDERFUL !
Surprising how the railroads have not gone to the newer type locomotive lighting
Good made video, mr R&R video.
Thx for this video you made a great job.
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean and North Sea.
Hello, Thank you very much!
Das ist ja Wahnsinn und daß das überhaupt so funktioniert! Mama mia!
Cracking video, mate, top job! I think the heaviest freight weight here in the UK is 2,000 tonnes. A bit less than the train in this video…😂😂👍
Lol, thats funny! Thank you very much!
amazing loop,, oh,,man, I couldn't flight my drone last time when I was there,,,,I need to go back..
That is a superior video; nice work.
Thanks! 😎
excellent, well done. Historic facts with Ghost sounds, awesome. Not to mention phenomenal photography.
Is the Loop Ranch accessible by foot?
thanks
Haha, yea I liked those extra details, thank you! And yes it is accessible by foot, but I think it's trespassing. Thanks for watching!😎
Nice bro i love train from indonesia ❤
awesome video thanks 👍
Thank you!
GRAIN TRAIN COMING DOWN DIDN'T BLOW THEY'RE HORN AT THE CROSSING AT THE LOOP.
No way !

@@herbdizzle9169 The best 👌
This is awesome! Great capturing work. How did you record the sound, without drone noise?
Thanks! I have a seperate mic, I have more info in the description
Can you get close to the loop? I remembered camping and photography at the loop
@brinkmccray947 No unfortunately it is fenced off now
we have two of those loops in my state one to the north and and to the south.
@@edwardrose-z7i Nice!
How often does BNSF run Mexican traction? Is that a leased unit?
Woah a dash 8!
Thanks, Up b4 the sun
Appreciate the early support! 👋😎
What model/series are the 5locos??
How fast is he going ?
23mph
Very cool! How do you do the sound of the train from the drone?
I record on a seperate mic. Thanks!
@ your videos are awesome and certainly professionally done!
I'm assuming that memorial is referencing the accident that occurred in which the train lost it's breaking ability and crashed into houses in San Bernadino. I believe it occurred on Duffy Street. Did not know about this until I saw documentary on it during Pandemic. What could you do at that time but watch video's? A horrible tragedy though.
One horsepower per ton,,that grainer needed 14,000 hp to move the load
That’s a lot of track for 77ft elevation.
The driver does 10% of that just climbing into the cab.
Toujours intriogante cette BOUCLE DE TEHACHAPI et on enyend le bruit ds moteurs? Il ne fait pas bon dormir à cote?????
Ferromex grupo mexico
Nice . Chinese hat
Great video, Thank you. Do the tanks at the rear carry fuel? and if so are they piped to the locos?
Thank you.👋😎 And no they aren't connected but they can carry fuel, among other things
Why focus primarily on the engines? Show the cars?
Why is it "unfortunate" the Broome family sold the Loop Ranch to the Nature Conservancy?
