- The KAC SR25 with a 14.5" barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor did a good job at impressing me. As you know I've been chasing the battle rifle bug and I thought a 6.5 would be a nice addition to the chase. Its a bonus that the rifle is extremely wieldy. It could go from rapid close shooting to 1000 yards, of course me being the limiting factor.

The KAC SR-25, developed by Knight's Armament Company, has a rich history rooted in its inception during the late 20th century. Originally designed as a precision semi-automatic sniper rifle, the SR-25 has been a staple in both military and law enforcement arsenals. This rifle combines the reliability of the AR-10 platform with advanced engineering to enhance accuracy and performance. Over the years, the SR-25 has undergone numerous upgrades, solidifying its reputation as a highly effective and versatile weapon system. Understanding the history of the SR-25 provides insight into its enduring legacy and continued relevance in modern combat scenarios.
The debate between 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Winchester is pivotal in the context of military advancements. The 6.5 Creedmoor offers superior ballistic performance with higher velocity, flatter trajectory, and better long-range accuracy compared to the .308. These characteristics make it a more suitable choice for precision shooting and extended range engagements. The military's shift towards the 6.5 Creedmoor is driven by the need for enhanced lethality and effective range, ensuring soldiers can engage targets with greater precision. This transition signifies a strategic move to equip forces with ammunition that meets the demands of modern warfare, highlighting the continuous evolution of military firearms technology.
The updated version of the SR-25, designed for the MRGG-A (Mid-Range Gas Gun - Automatic), showcases significant improvements tailored to current military requirements. This iteration incorporates advanced materials, improved ergonomics, and enhanced modularity, allowing for better customization and adaptability on the battlefield. The MRGG-A version of the SR-25 emphasizes reliability and accuracy, with features like an upgraded barrel, refined gas system, and state-of-the-art optics compatibility. These enhancements ensure the SR-25 remains a formidable tool in the hands of operators, meeting the rigorous standards of modern military operations and providing superior performance in diverse combat environments.
The modernization of the SR-25 reflects the ongoing commitment to innovation within Knight's Armament Company. Integrating cutting-edge technology, the SR-25 now includes advancements such as lightweight materials, enhanced fire control systems, and improved suppressors. These modern features not only reduce the overall weight of the rifle but also enhance its handling and operational efficiency. The continued development of the SR-25 ensures it remains at the forefront of military and law enforcement applications, capable of meeting the evolving challenges of contemporary warfare. The modern SR-25 stands as a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence in firearm design and functionality.

I'm getting "the Guy who bought a boat" vibes here
They blew my paycheck on ammo in the opening scene...
I love how NATO has basically just gotten completely switched over to 5.56 and 7.62x51, and here comes the US again with its fancy 277 Fury and 6.5 creedmoor going "guys look at this!"
Europe is what happens when small budgets meet a "gun is gun" mentality
Not sure 6.5 CM has any major US military contracts. And it’s TBD as far as how many actual units will use .277 Fury-but it’s highly unlikely that it will replace all ARs across the board, especially for CQB.
@@archipelago93 I know for a fact a bunch of super spooky SF dudes are using 6.5, but more to the point the AR really needs a new caliber to be more optimized for its job. Something like a 6 arc with a smaller case head and a penetrator core or a 6.5*47 would be perfect, but every pencil pusher and bureaucrat will say that something like that is too much cost for the benefit it provides, so we will be stuck adopting both nothing and oversized monstrosities until the heat death of the universe
Dont forget 300 and 338 norma mag.
6.8 is basically the 270 that Garand was supposed to have. Just goes to show
14.5" 6.5CM, so hot right now
12.5 8.6 blk out?
So hot the barrel burns out. But yeah, I want one
XM7 with 13" barrel and 6.8×51mm have more power.
@@jazon9XM7 is a trash gun. Anybody in the know who was in the military or knows firearms and military combat has stated it is the answer to a question that didn’t need to be answered. None of our near peer adversaries have standard issue level 4 armor. Thus negating the need for the much higher pressure round that will in turn burn the barrels out much faster. Aside from the fact it is heavier with proprietary parts and the fact Sig hasn’t released a gun in 10 years without problems out of the gate, it will be a disaster. Few places do you need to shoot 800-1000 yards with armor penetration and the only recent conflict was that in Afghanistan. Sure, go waste your money on an Sig but this gun along with LMT, Geissele or any other large frame AR in 308 or 6.5 is better suited for the normal ranges and foes encountered.
Learn your history. A calibre about this size was recommended back in 1950 by multiple sources, learning from the lessons of WW2.

Impressive, very nice. Now let’s see Mr. Outcomes M110 SASS.
I shot 6.5 Creedmoor for the 1st time last Friday. It has SURPRISINGLY light recoil. Before I knew it, I already went through the one box I brought to test out. Needless to say, I bought more when I went to my gun store.
Ok now try a .22 Creedmoor
Admin back again with another gun I can't afford

The gun tism has blessed us once more with a heavenly offering in the form of a video
Cody is a really good dude and quite a shooter too. He recommended the Otter Creek Labs Polonium K for my first suppressor and I've been running the piss outta that can ever since. I think I was one of his first 200 subscribers back when he was just putting up videos of his SR15. He really is just some midwestern dude who makes terrible financial decisions.
I have been thinking about a Polonium K, are they HUB thread?
@@KevinHuff23 Yes. I've been using Rearden plan b mounts with mine. I've got a couple thousand rounds through the suppressor at this point. It's somewhat gassy on shorter guns but it isn't bad on my 14.5 BCM. My 11.5 has a bootleg adjustable bcg which is a really cool upgrade because it basically turns off recoil. It's crazy effective. For my 14.5 all I did was install a Geissele super 42 carbine spring with an H2 buffer weight and it runs really smooth suppressed and unsuppressed.
Totally worth it imo.
You’re a king sir ❤️❤️❤️
@@armorers_wrench Thanks brother!
As a PRS shooter, I’d like to point out that PRS shooters do NOT load their rounds as hot as possible. They load their rounds to accomplish the smallest SD/ES possible. The only major difference in barrel life is the chrome lining. PRS barrels are usually always stainless steel
BUT POPPED PRIMERS ARE AWESOME 😍
*smart PRS shooters. Plenty of idiots loading the hottest load they can. I play it safe. I load it up until I can read the headstamp on my bolt face and back off 0.2 grains
Proving that not all autists are PRS shooters, but all PRS shooters are always autists.

Have a 14.5 CC 308 SR25 and it's the sheeeeiit
Love the performance gain from .308 to 6.5. Still shaking my head at the increased wear and decreased barrel life. There is no free lunch.
Velocities from short barrels are quite low specially when 6.5creed was designed for 24 inch barrel.
Gotta wonder why they went that long with so new cardridge.
So cant see much gain from there when .308 is still producing more energy from much shorter barrels.
And usually you least intend to fight close with compact rifles.
6.5creed is nice but strange caliber which could be better.
6.5x55swede says hi there and shakes its head why so little improvement in 100 years.
So no i dont think 6.5creed is gonna replace .308 in anytime soon.
@@Kesssuli
I don't think OP asked
@@Kesssuli Still better than 556😂😂
@wolfgang_h3t It's ok. 6.5 does have one advantage. It has a flatter trajectory arc. The trade off is .308 is heavier, thus less wind deflection. So in theory...on a windless day... the 6.5 will let you hit targets further out without the need for elevation adjustments.
Just me but that seems like anyone shooting out to those distances will likely be well versed in elevation adjustment and will likely prefer the lesser deflection to windage that the .308 offers.
@@philliplopez1501that’s not true at all just bc .308 is a heavier bullet. 6.5 CM bullets in general have sleek higher BC’s than .308 bullets, which leads to less wind deflection.
Now THIS is why I subscribed. Overpriced AR-10s in femboy calibers. Perfection.
6.5 "can you take me higher!"-moor
Thanks for showing us your 6.5 KAC.
Not the "fish fear me" hat XD
I didn't know what to think about the forward assist argument until the 1st major failure I ever had with an AR was the forward assist breaking and jamming up the rifle so bad I had to go home and beat it apart with a hammer not knowing if it was loaded and not being able to take the lower off because the bolt was stuck partially in the buffer.
Hey buddy, nice KAC
It's so adorable that Admin honestly thinks that the military primarily considers rife performance as the most important metric when awarding government contracts.
Let a man hope

Beautiful KAC man! Thanks for showing it off! 🇺🇸
The slow motion clips of the bipod leg bouncing is hilarious
Catching them casings
this guy is hilarious and you two have amazing energy
FYI. The firing pin spring has nothing to do with "higher pressure" ammo. It's there to prevent a slamfire. Being that most 6.5CM ammo is commercially loaded with non-military primers, the floating FP could cause a slamfire due to the softer primers.
It really has that "we have MCX SPEAR at home" vibe. Fun to see the SR-25 still kicking since I last saw it.
lol time thefting from your boss. smashed like.
A good friend of mine is alive because he was carrying a SR-25 early in Afghanistan, he got hit by a AQ MG emplacement that was stupidly well hidden, the round went through his rifle which diverted and decreased the energy of the round enough that he only ended up with a whole bunch of titanium aftermarket parts and a donor lung.
BELT.
Im loving all these rifle caliber/battle rifle videos lately!
Love the chronograph! 14.5 Cr shooting 140 gr @ 2400 FPS - 6.5 Grendel velocities from a 16 inch barrel on a standard frame AR with 129 gr pills, just food for thought. I know it would never see the light of day bc of standardization, as well as the new 6.8 round. But cool to think about the possibilities of that round.

That hat was awesome
I'm glad you had Dane Cook's big brother on to talk about guns and generally goof off. He was pretty funny and knows his stuff. I clicked the notification for this video knowing it would be entertaining but not thinking my opinion of 6.5 Sneedmore would change. Now I might consider getting one. The pressure of the rounds is something I was wondering about because the ammo I see for it doesn't look very high velocity. I figured it was just the heavy-for-caliber projectiles making it that low, hence still high pressure. I still prefer .308 and .30-06 for a batlle rifle.
To correct 110 Actual on the forward assist. M16s were already in Air Force inventory when the Army demanded their test examples get the forward assist. The Army XM16E1's that had the issues always had a forward assist. The forward assist would not have fixed corroded, rusted, and pitted chambers.
6.5 is very popular here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it's got a lot of reach and it's very versatile
Why not use the new 277 Fury and the new SIG Spear? Take the new Spear and build a few of them to do the sniper role. Having to many different weapons is going to be extremely hard for logistics. This is just a quick observation and I am not really up on all the different rifles that the Army is looking at. Please give your opinion on what the military could do. Thanks.
Good job guys love it
Since I am German I am kinda forced to Simp for H&K but I always Loved Knights Armament Rifles Awesome video
Pan-excellent video here.
My 123 gr grendel load is about 2300 from a 16 in barrel for comparison.
I built a creedmoor gas gun before they were much of a commercial offering and they were a little tricky given the pressure curves and gas systems. I think if anyone can get the system design to tame it, in such a barrel and still keep it reliable, Knight’s would be the people to do it.
😂😂 love the billboard hat😂😂
I love these Jim Halpert collabs
