Beautiful catch, Cary! Glad your determination and perseverance paid off! Super nice rainbow, must have made a delicious, satisfying dinner for you and your family! I love fishing at the end of the season, too, when the crowds are gone. Caught my PB at Silver Lake last year, same weight as your fish but a male brownie. No bites for three days, hooked it on the last cast of the trip, at dusk on a Kastmaster, fought it twelve minutes and landed it in the dark. You'll have great stories to tell about your catch from now on!
Thank you! Yes it was a tough day of fishing but it ended well. Aside from the periodic harsh weather, it was nice because most of the time there were very few people on the lake. I have yet to catch a huge brown so that is definitely on the list for me. Must have been an exciting fight for you. The last decent size brown i caught was on a kastmaster as well. Thanks for watching!
I've caught three huge brown trout in the past 40 years in the Eastern Sierra, and all three were at Silver Lake at dusk. I think the big brownies come out then to eat the stocked trout. Two on nightcrawler and the biggest one on a brand new brown trout Kastmaster. Good luck, you'll catch your big brownie!@@ExploreNaturesCatch
Thank you! P-line 3lb floroclear. Ultralight uglystik, okuma stratusV sv-10. I prefer my shimano sahara and pflueger president spinning reel though. Thanks for watching!
Awesome job Carey! Way to stick it out and keep after it. When you say "pinched crawler" are you referring to Berkley artificial "pinched crawler" or are you referring to a "real" nightcrawler that you pinched off, and inflated? I've never tried fishing Mamie from shore, only from a tube. It seemed pretty tough to find a fishable spot from the shore on Mamie except next to the main road at the north end. You deserved that trophy! Great job, and thanks for bringing us with you !! 👍👍
Thank you! Only bite of the day and it happened to be the big one. Made the day for sure! Yes the Berkley pinched crawler. I’ve been using that more often lately and it’s been working good. I usually float tube Mamie too but this day it paid off at the shore. Gave me one hell of a fight!
Thanks for the video. Was the underwater footage taken with a camera on your fishing pole or just a go pro with a long handle? You said you caught that beautiful trout on a PINCH CRAWLER. It looks like it was a male. When were you there?
Thanks for watching! I had a gopro on a collapsible pole for the underwater footage. amzn.to/3RgPjtW Yes I caught the fish on a berkley pinched crawler. I've been using that more lately and it's been working pretty good. I was there the last 2 weeks of the season. Hope all is well!
Me and my wife just got back from there. We slaughtered them at Twin lakes with 2" Berkley minnow on a bobber and Mouse tail with a sliding weight. We got snowed on trying to go to Virginia lakes so we never got to fish it. It was great because there was no one there at the lakes except for us. Nice job on that huge Trout.
Good to hear you guys did great out there! Lots of snow for us too, I actually ended up getting stuck in the snow one time at lake Mary. Luckily Kristine and Amelia were warm and cozy at the Airbnb. Yeah it’s a nice time to be out there, less people for sure. Weather was iffy though! Thanks for watching!
What is everone using as far as tackle? I use Phenix Elixer ultralight rods both 6 ft and 6 1/2 foot. Diawa Certate spinning rells their version of the 1000 size. My lazy arse doesn't throw lures much but when I do it's usualy small gold Kastmaters caught a few decent browns with these. I bait fish with Berkley Micetails white heads pink tails and as far as power bait I'm partial to LimeTwist Alpers trout really seemed to like this shame thier no longer around. When we go up May 10 going to try the pink salman egg power bait. For me trout fishing is pure R&R I likes to just sit, soak some bait, and mayby nod off LOL. Just take in the breathing air, the scenery, forget about work and the rest of life's little annoyances. When I hunt I'm competitve stand after stand 24-7 cause like fishing you never know when you might get a strike In hunting you never know when something might show up. Been hunting since the late 1970's and I still get chicken skin when something shows it never get's old Mahalo
I use a Californian CTX Spinning Trout Rod 7'6" rod when I use jigs and minnows paired with a Pflueger President Spinning Reel. Bait fishing we have an assortment of rods from ugly stiks to fenwick rods. Definitely just enjoy just being out at the lake and just relaxing. Especially when you have nice scenery. Hunting sounds fun, I haven't done it yet but the thought of getting a lot of meat to fill the freezer sounds good to me! Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you are having a great day!
Thank you! Yeah it was pretty rough but glad I didn't give up! It was literally my last cast of the day 😆. Have you gone to Santa Ana river lakes lately?
Actually no. Plan to go in the next couple weeks on a Mon or Tues. I drive by there every day on the way to the gym. Its been bumper to bumper around the lake Fri-Sun. Too close for comfort lol I've seen on Instagram the fish are biting really well & pulling out monsters too! 👍 U planning a trip soon?
I thought about going on a Sunday but changed my mind because I figured it would be too packed. It would be a Monday or Tuesday for me as well. Need to get into all the action over there that I’ve been seeing online!
Man!!! That's nice congrats!! 🥳👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! Definitely made the day!

Definitely put up a great fight too. Way to end the day of rough fishing!
Wow, incredible catch! You earned it! Perseverance paid off. Thanks for the great vid!
Thank you! It was a rough day until the final 5 minutes! Thanks for watching!
Congratulations.. Determination paid off..
Thank you! Determination definitely paid off. Happened at the very last spot too.
Awesome fish Cary
Thank you!
I think your Facebook was hacked. Did you add me on another account? Just making sure before I accept.
Nice catch bro.. .
Thank you bro! On to the next!
On a micetail!
Berkley pinched crawler! It's been working pretty good for me lately.
That’s Friken awesome 👏 Way to find that spot and catch the pole bender.
Thanks, yeah it was a tough day of fishing but this made the day.
Was it a floating pinched crawler?
Yup! The floating Berkley pinched crawler.
Nice Trout! What pound test did you use and which brand of line? and what kind of setup?
Thank you! P-line 3lb floroclear. Ultralight uglystik, okuma stratusV sv-10. I prefer my shimano sahara and pflueger president spinning reel though. Thanks for watching!

Great catch Cary! Nice underwater footage too! What did you use for the recording?
Thank you! I was using a gopro hero 7 on a collapsible extension pole. amzn.to/3RgPjtW
Beautiful but cold day and it paid off. Love the "end of day" meal segment in videos.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it was freezing. The hand warmers I had helped a lot.

I got so excited when I saw the white minnow cuz that was my guess earlier but didn't comment yet. See if I'm right
The white minnow caught me a lot of big fish. Excellent choice to get em that’s for sure!
I eat trout, good thing a lot of Asians are good about finding fresh meat, speaking as an Asian myself 👍
Same here, how do you like preparing them? I’m always looking for different recipes to try.

Yeah it was pretty cold that day. I had big hand warmers in each one of my pockets.
Should’ve released it
Carey...you are the man! LOL Put in a full day in bad conditions & caught a monster to feed the family. Congrats ! 💪 @markiemark6868
