Just subscribed! I’m headed out to Mammoth tomorrow and wanted to know if fishing is still available out there. This video helped me find that solution. I love the homemade jigs and that you’re able to catch a fish on them. I was just hoping to use some spoons to catch a trout. But your video definitely inspired me to go out to Lake Mary and throw out some lines! Thank you for such a beautiful edit.
Hey thanks for subscribing! Much appreciated. Yeah it’s always a great feeling catching fish on lures you make. The regular fishing season in that area starts on the last Saturday of April and ends on Nov 15th. There is still fishing in some areas but with strict regulations. Lake mary and the lakes in the town of mammoth lakes are closed to fishing now. Double Check the regs to see what’s available. Planning on doing some snowboarding out there?
@@ExploreNaturesCatch Thanks for that. One less thing to pack. Obviously it’s my first year fishing, still have a lot to learn. Will definitely be snowboarding and visiting the natural hot springs!
Great video! Great shots of Crystal crag! The scenery and fish shots were awesome. Beautiful colors. I love you guys eat the fish you catch! What kind of fish did you make the poke bowls with? You give me some good ideas for fish.
Which Californian Rod are you rocking?? I’ve been looking into UL gear and wanted to try the Californian but saw they had one at &60 and another st $120ish for the trout rods. The turners by me were out of both so I ended up with a Daiwa spinmatic and it’s been alright but also down for more rods haha
I have the Californian ctx 761-2 ultralight. Back when I bought it, it was only about $90. I just checked right now and it’s up to $115 now. I like it, haven’t had any issues with it so far. Really light weight compared to my uglystiks I have.
Glad you made it back to the Sierra! You fished our favorite spot on George. Skunked us this year though even though we could see the big ones. Shoulda changed colors on my minnow but was lazy. Beautiful fall brookie you caught. Brookies and Goldens are the best-dressed trout in the Sierra, and I always release them. Your jigs look awesome, so did your poke bowls. Rangers checked me for a license on our last trip, too, first time in twenty years, ha ha. We had them.
Besides this day George was pretty slow for me too. On the next video I ended up catching a 8.5 LB rainbow. Only bite and fish for a whole day of fishing. Happened at the last 10 minutes of fishing as well. Made the day well worth it. I was quite proud of the jigs I made too, thank you. I still need to make a couple more new colors. They are pretty flashy when the light hits it. I might be heading to Santa Ana river lakes soon to get a shot at the huge rainbows they stocked.
Stunning colors of those male brookies!
Definitely, they were vibrant in color for sure!
Nice job on the twilight brookies! Love the dinner segment! Tight lines brother, look forward to next video...
Appreciate you watching. Those brookies were looking really nice and vibrant. Have some underwater footage of the brookies on the next one!
Awesome colors on those brooks!
Yes indeed! Seemed like they were spawning. The next video I have coming out, theres underwater footage of the brook trout showing spawning behavior.

Thanks for watching! Definitely beautiful out there. I used yellowfin tuna for the poke bowl. I do prefer salmon over tuna for my poke bowls though.
Thanks for the video. Love the Sierras. Beautiful brook trout. The bowls look good too.
Thank you! Yes, those brook trout were especially exquisite! I was surprised how vibrant they looked.
The beauty of those males dressed in their Halloween colors has to be seen in person. They're Pretty feisty too. The brook trout are all wild fish
Yes, I was amazed of how vibrant they were. Beautiful fish indeed!
Nice video
Thank you bro!
Good to bring sierra fishing to those of us stuck in San fernando Valley. Dinner segment was great but where was the sierra star amelia?
