Dave Gilmour the only person to play twice in the Amphitheater since 79 AD . this solo and with Pink Floyd in 72. Which has a dedicated hallway inside the theater of their show in 72.
David Gilmour joined Pink Floyd in 1967 at the age of 21. That would make him 70 years old at this performance in Pompeii, Italy in 2016. Think about that...70 years old...and how spectacular his performance was for the Pompeii concert. Now he is 75 years old. I hope he’ll play again 5 years from now when he turns 80!
@@DK-ed7be He is working on a new album, though. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, he said he still has plenty of guitars he can use. I hope he tours at least one more time!
David killed it... At the age of 70 than many people have arthritis and all kinds of old age pains... but it didn't stop him from killing it... I really admire him
Trivia: The guitar strap Gilmour is using (with the “X”s on it), was a 60th birthday present from his wife. It was Jimi Hendrix’s guitar strap, sold at auction.
I'm 60 now, and grew up in the era of more great guitar rock bands than I can count...but my favorite has always been Pink Floyd...and over the decades, I have come to see Sir Dave as the world's greatest living guitarist.
As far as I'm concerned. This is the greatest live solo I've ever heard. Kudos though to the whole band (especially the drummer- he was in the groove) who brought it all together as well!
i'm really pleased to see someone react to Gilmour. this concert [he was in his 70s] is one of his best. you should react to 'Sorrow', 'On Any Tongue' and High Hopes' from this concert
From the same Pompeii concert, you should check out In Any Tongue. A really beautiful song from David's latest solo album (and of course, with a great guitar solo).
In my humble opinion this solo was much better than the Pulse version. Sure, the Pulse version had the better light show, but the guitar solo, while great, pales in comparison to this one.
It must have been something close to a religious experience for anyone that was there. You just watched the Greatest guitar player in music history perform in the oldest amphitheater on the planet. Gilmour was the first live act in that amphitheater since 79AD. The man is in his 70s and still as powerful as he was in the Pulse concert.
Gdansk also has one of the best performances of Echoes. I feel it is the best interaction between David and Richard. Though it lacks the drums of the Pompeii version.
Awesome .... Have a look at the Pulse live version, or even live at earl court, he just seems to hit those notes better then, but then David could make a ukulele scream
I heard someone say once just think, a bunch of 20 year olds rocking out to a song that’s 50 years old being played by a 70 year old man ♥️🎸🎶♥️ I know you’re not 20 but a lot of the audience was!
#2 is 'sorrow" #3 "in any tongue" BUY FAR the best non band video Pink Floyd "on the turning away" ( 1989-07-15 ) FM by think pink 61. watch then send to every congress person. 5.5 million views.
This solo... it is the best in rock history.
Apart from the pulse version ;)
@@mathewdonovan5040 dang!thats out of this world!I miss the old vhs tape of Delicate sound of Thunder!
Thanks for being a gentleman and not interrupting the solo

Damn ... Gilmour may well be nearly 75 (70 when this was filmed) but he's still got it. What a performer!
... oh dear, I seem to have something in my eye again
Drummer is absolutely loving this !! Gilmour is immense 🙌🙌
Steve DiStanislao, he's an incredible drummer and has worked with the best in the business

He won't, he auctioned off his guitars a few years ago.

Like #1! Woooo! This is my all time favorite version of this song. I always liked it better than Pulse. Thanks for this reaction!
completely agree
I agree 100%
Old man Gilmour > any young person
I actually prefer this end solo to the Pulse version. One of my favorite compositions of all time.
Trivia: The guitar strap Gilmour is using (with the “X”s on it), was a 60th birthday present from his wife. It was Jimi Hendrix’s guitar strap, sold at auction.
Had no idea. But that's fantastic. thanks
Would love to have been a fly on the wall when he opened that gift!
Is that the black guitar that auctioned for 5M?
@@sarahzentexas I believe so

When Pompeii was destroyed, God preserved the coliseum just for this purpose.
I've never heard this version. Beautiful. Your reaction was great.
Just pure magic! There's a reason for that whole experience of Pink Floyd. That guitar solo brings tears. Magic.

Love your reaction! Please do "Run Like Hell" Live in Pompeii It will blow you away!
There's no age limit to greatness
You just experienced the greatest rock guitarist of all time. And there are A LOT of great 70’s rock guitarists but David Gilmour is THE BEST.
Same concert, FACES OF STONE, 5AM. He has so many great performances!
As far as I'm concerned. This is the greatest live solo I've ever heard. Kudos though to the whole band (especially the drummer- he was in the groove) who brought it all together as well!
I think is my favorite version of Comfortably Numb!! Got my heart pumpin, my feet tappin, my hands and arms flailin...EPIC!!!

Master David Gilmour is the man.

David Gilmour at 70 is better than most young performers are today
In my humble opinion this solo was much better than the Pulse version. Sure, the Pulse version had the better light show, but the guitar solo, while great, pales in comparison to this one.
No doubt!
Agreed
David didnt play this solo excactly the same twice and it only over when he decided it was over. Another great great solo is sorrow.
The white haired guy at the beginning doing vocals and playing keys is CHUCK LEAVELL who also plays keys for THE ROLLING STONES.
and the Allman Brothers
Next from Floyd.....lSorrow..live...Pulse.
or from this concert
First time.. Pink Floyd at Pompeii.. back in late 60s.. back when it was all so amazing

another version with a STRING ORCHESTRA behind him David Gilmour "Comfortably Numb Gdansk"

Reacts to David Gilmour - In any Tongue - Live in Pompei
i agree. great song. great solo
third best solo #2 is "sorrow" at the same concert.
That was absolutely incredible!🎸
Definitely my favorite solo and Sorrow just as good please react on it you will love it
Awesome .... Have a look at the Pulse live version, or even live at earl court, he just seems to hit those notes better then, but then David could make a ukulele scream
Not bad for an old man.
Run Like Hell _ Live @ Pompeii ......check in up soon Braddah

At 7:45, Dave made a rare mistake, I think you got it on the headphones too, the strings went dead. Happens to the master too.
So sad to see all those phones in the air at a phenomenal gig
Next one from Pink Floyd - Run like hell ( live to Pulse 1994 ) = how to end a great concert 😎👍
That guitar sold for $3,975,000 at auction. Purchased by the owner of the Indianapolis Colts
Holy smoke 👍
70 years old ... 22 years after pulse ...
The guitar Dave used there the black stratt just sold at auction for over 3 million pound
Dollars . $3.3 million .
@RP I believe that figure includes the buyer's premium .
Check out on an island david gilmore!
He auctioned that guitar off, got a million dollars for it and gave every penny to charity
🤘🏻😎
A guitarist has to have a partner and blackie is his partner she gives everything he asks of her a fender Stratocaster at her best
do In any tongue
From 1970's to 2016... think about it...
mmm some mushrooms... or some.. acid

Ace guitar Roger waters the other singer and bass player rites the weirder stuff I think they fell out! That's y this is Gilmore with he's band?
