If you want to pretend you can fight, sure. Or you know… you could try boxing. This shit is mostly useless for self defence. The guy can’t throw a single punch right.
I do those KB moves so this made me feel good!! Thanks. Used to do those jumps, including the one footed, in my Rugby days- I can definitely attest they are awesome for strength and agility. Can’t do them anymore with all the injuries over the years- ankles and knees won’t hold up. But if you can, do em! Excellent vid!!!
Great exercises! Maybe you can answer a question I have had for some time now that I haven't been able to find an answer to? Can you develop the strength and power you need for power sports like football, wrestling, MMA etc. using Kettlebells alone if you work up to using double kettlebells, which are a heavier load? Or is the use of a barbell absolutely necessary? The reason I ask is that I find Kettlebells are much easier to use and learn the proper form than the barbell and they are much more accessable at home than a barbell set up is. They are also more versatile IMO. No I'm not a pro athlete but its nice to know that I can get in just as good of pefirmance shape using kettlebells at home instead of having to go to the gym to use barbells. Or do I need to add some basic compoind barbaell lifts into my regimen to develop that maximal strength output? There hasn't yet been a lot of studies done on the use of Kettlebells for developing power and strength output for spprts performance as there is for the barbell. Barbells have been to top of choice for most athletic sport training. I get that its because barbells are more suited to the task being able to add smaller increments to the load, though kettlebells you can increase the speed of the bell to increase the force of the load. The faster thr swing of thr bell the more force it takes to drive the load or create the speed etc. I get that barbells are ideal, but if you don't have the equipment and dont have the time to soend giong to the gym, but kettbells are more suitable for those of us who want to get our workout in at home in less time and space, as well as cost. We may not be able to absolutely match thr performance of the development that a barbell set up provides but can we at keart come close with kettlebells? If you could shed any light on this that would be absolutely amazing!
I’m obviously not Phil and you didn’t ask me, but I’ve done enough work with kettlebells to say that yes, you can absolutely use kettlebells to develop the strength and power you need for any combat sports. I actually saw more carry over to grappling when I was using kettlebells a lot more compared to when I was focusing on barbells. Double kettlebells (assuming you have access to all sorts of sizes up to 48 kg) can be just as effective as barbells. The double kettlebell clean and press is as good as it gets from a bang for your buck perspective. Trying to double kettlebell front squat a pair of 24 kgs is “only” 106 lbs, but try doing that for 10 sets of 10 and tell me how your quads feel afterwards! Let alone getting to double 32s with that. And I personally think the snatch and Turkish getups (both with just one kettlebell) are much more functional for combat than any barbell exercise. Just my 2 cents, hope I was able to provide something constructive here.
@@swoosh2835 Thanks for the input. Double Kettlebell clean and jerk is currently my GPP. I absolutely love it. A single exercise for a full body exercise that takes minimal time and you get so much bang for your buck with it. I also alternate days with that with double kettlebell squat thrusters. Another excellent full body exercise that gives you a lot of bang for your buck. I love the kettlebell for its ease of use, accessibility, and all the benefits you get from cardio affects to strength and endurance etc.
I've noticed for most of your explosive and power exercises it's more focused on maximum effort with efficiency rather than volume and less reps 🤔 I'm out here tiring myself out 😅 good shit coach 👍🏻
I am 120lbs and starting with a 30 lbs kettlebell.. for the average male and their weight, do you know how many pounds is average kettlebell. Also, which brand should I consider buying, quality matters
Is anyone else thrown off by the coach wearing nike pegasus while teach kettles? I am so used to see flat, bare no rise or lifting shoes for this type of work, to see soft cushy running shoes threw me for a loop.
Another question. Is using a static start to the kettlebell clean and also the snatch different from simply doing reps of continuous cleans or continuous snatches say loe a set of 5 continuous snatches from a swing or continuous cleans from a swing? What is the difference or benefit of the static start if any? If there is a difference is it enough of a difference to do static start on these lifts if you already do low rep and heavy continuous cleans and snatches?
