My favorite memories with my dad are fishing. Even if we didn't catch anything, even though we were really poor, fishing was our thing we could do together any time of year. We couldn't afford much, but we would find fishing gear at yard sales for cheap and spend a day together. It ended up becoming one of my passions. Now that I'm older, once a year I will take him down to the coast and do an offshore fishing trip together. My dad wasn't always the best dad, but he's MY dad. And I'm glad he's still around to return the favor.

This slaps hard. I remember from my dad all the times we worked around home, and went hunting and fishing. When we went on vacation it was local things, but I loved it. He didn’t have to waste lots of money on a Disney trip or stuff like that at all. Same with my kids, they love simply doing stuff around the house and the other things I did with my dad. That time spent actually engaging with them is worth so much more than throwing money at them.

Happy Father's Day crazy Russian Dad and thank you so much for what you've said here it does make a difference especially in the lives of those of us that like myself had a somewhat strained relationship with there Father's growing up in my case I know I was always loved by him because he always did his best to make sure I felt loved and never abandoned or forgotten about so no matter what he's done wrong I can always bring myself forgive him I love him and I always will love him even though some of his mistakes did jeopardized things like you were saying not to do I will always forgive him no matter what he doese

Hunting/fishing trips with grandpa, dad, uncles, and cousins. Then, there was either a dinner of roasted venison, duck, goose, grouse, trout, sudak, and accompanied by plenty of beer, samogon. And of course there were the tall-tales of the old-timers. It was the perfect family bonding experience, and with plenty of “don’t tell (insert female relative here) moments”.
