My favorite memories with my dad are fishing. Even if we didn't catch anything, even though we were really poor, fishing was our thing we could do together any time of year. We couldn't afford much, but we would find fishing gear at yard sales for cheap and spend a day together. It ended up becoming one of my passions. Now that I'm older, once a year I will take him down to the coast and do an offshore fishing trip together. My dad wasn't always the best dad, but he's MY dad. And I'm glad he's still around to return the favor.

Another thing fathers often forget too is that they are the coolest person in the world and we always want to hangout and do things with them it’s how it is supposed to be

He didn’t have to waste lots of money on a Disney trip or stuff like that at all. Same with my kids, they love simply doing stuff around the house and the other things I did with my dad. That time spent actually engaging with them is worth so much more than throwing money at them.
Hunting/fishing trips with grandpa, dad, uncles, and cousins. Then, there was either a dinner of roasted venison, duck, goose, grouse, trout, sudak, and accompanied by plenty of beer, samogon. And of course there were the tall-tales of the old-timers. It was the perfect family bonding experience, and with plenty of “don’t tell (insert female relative here) moments”.
