lmfao this has happened to me so many times playing local gigs as a teen, one time we were playing one some crates stacked up as a make shift stage and one of the legs of my drum stool fell down between a gap in the crates and had to play boneyards by parkway drive standing up 😂😂
I’ve picked up peoples cymbals before. Bands I’ve never met at shows I’m not playing I’ll just jump on stage and pick up a stand like that. Once I crawled under a dude’s hihat and put his double pedal back together after it exploded mid-song. People are always happy you did it and not concerned at all that you randomly hopped on stage during their set.
@@Handleoriginal12 yea but they usually don’t use them especially for lower budget events cuz of latency and response cuz they lag slightly even the most expensive and that throws off your playing.
And that's why I fell in love with the Pearl single tier rack. Everything stays put, cymbal arms lock in to place, set-up and tear down is easier, no fighting for space on the drum riser, hardware case is half the weight, rack folds up and slides right into the van/trailer.
@@sagephillipsdrumsjust get a multiclamp and clamp it to another stand with a boom arm. I guess you already have a boom arm, a multi clamp costs just a little more than a pair of sticks
As a hobby musician who once had the opportunity to play at a festival with the nicest stage hands - thank you! It's quite odd to have someone helping you with having fun like their lives depended on it.
This is why I'm militant about mounting my toms on the heavier stands and keeping any cymbals I'll be hard bashing lowered so there's not much sideward force
I got mine on a boom stand with the boom facing towards my right. For further insurance, the stand also has my stack attached on clamp style cymbal arm, facing parallel to my floor tom. Thing now weighs around 15lbs. Hasn't fallen or creeped away since.
And THAT is the biggest reason I switched to a rack, among other benefits. It comes with a different set of problems than stands, but problems I’m willing to deal with.
seems kinda spring reaction like the cymbals not setting correct forces the bell toward back over over till oops kinda happens worst if aquariwn cymbal spring used. everytime if so...,
Once I played at this venue that had a wine bottle display quite high up above me. The vibrations sent a bottle off the shelf and almost landed on my head lol...my poor floor tom.
i've never understood why people NEED more than kick, hats, hi and lo tom, crash, and ride. it's always nice to play a more decked out kit but you honestly don't need much

bc the music isnt good? that drumming was ass💀

Two words :
Sand. Bags. The fact that your cymbal wasn't wrecked is some kind of miracle.
Right? That was one of the worst possible angles it could have fell lmfao
And that's why I fell in love with the Pearl single tier rack. Everything stays put, cymbal arms lock in to place, set-up and tear down is easier, no fighting for space on the drum riser, hardware case is half the weight, rack folds up and slides right into the van/trailer.
Bro your drumming is amazing!!
At least it dropped at the best possible timing ever with that nice touch of polyrhythm
May I suggest a drum rack. It'll hold your toms and cymbals in place
One simple problem… I’m broke
They are expensive and ugly
@@sagephillipsdrumsjust get a multiclamp and clamp it to another stand with a boom arm. I guess you already have a boom arm, a multi clamp costs just a little more than a pair of sticks
I mean just look at the legs at the bottom😂 no wonder it fell over
I was thinking that exact thing. Idk how you set up a stand and use zero to no leg space to provide sturdiness knowing how hard you play.
@@slamovgod or even having 1 of legs facing the same direction you're hitting so it's less likely to tip 😂
Bro that china sounds extra crisp lol, I love it lol
The drum tech was a little late with that one…😂
Drummers need more appreciation and drum techs need all the appreciation!
When he fell his china cymbal now changed to crash ride. 😂
This is so good oh my god. Song?!
I've had this happen. It sucks! Fortunately, there was a drummer from another band watching me and she helped pick it back up for me.
Ah yes, a good stage crew the backbone of a preformance
“Yay my king to the rescue emoji prince emoji” 💀
Always gotta have that one homie who feels the vibe like that

What song are you performing?
Cover of Bad Reputation by Joan Jett!
Drummer: *goes crazy*
China cymbal: "ouch"
yeah i think we could all use a tech like that lmaoooo
Oh no!! Lol this is the main reason I use a rack. My stands always moved too much.
What is the name of the song? It sounds awesome
The song is Bad Reputation by Joann Jett
that drumset is awesomeeee
Well you handled it like a pro
That was a badass beat though

It’s a fucking boom too. Dude could straight up put it on the floor and boom it closer
This is one reason why i prep the stand properly before my gigs
The recovery goes hard tho
I'm honestly impressed that when the China hit the ground it was still on time with the beat
You play a king bro. I wish I could practice as much as you son
My cymbal stand was soooo close to falling off once but i managed to adjust it in between songs, had me sweatin

We now know what happens when you don’t open the base of the stand all of the way. Nice work!
I got mine on a boom stand with the boom facing towards my right. For further insurance, the stand also has my stack attached on clamp style cymbal arm, facing parallel to my floor tom. Thing now weighs around 15lbs. Hasn't fallen or creeped away since.
This is what happened when my China cymbal fell over:
I hope my china cymbal doesn’t fall over
Oh no my China cymbal fell over
Meanwhile, A drummer who hits China Cymbal so hard but the cymbal stand did not tightened and it fell down below into the floor tom.
Legs set tight to fit on the tiny drum riser.
Need a better tech back there. He came out and fixed the top of the stand but never widened the base of the stand so it probably 100% fell over again.
It fell on a sick offbeat at least.
The funny thing is that the sound of the china falling on the floor is actually on beat.
Was that at Lowlands? Looks like Lowlands
Pukkelpop! We played Lowlands the following day haha
Need to change that setup tbh.
Oh wow oh my God what an interesting story
Thanks! 💕
Song name please
Looks like you need a new knight in shining armor if thats how he sets up your cymbal stands. Hit me up.
And THAT is the biggest reason I switched to a rack, among other benefits. It comes with a different set of problems than stands, but problems I’m willing to deal with.
Need to add like a foot to each side of that drum riser lol.
Drummers have a few things like that every gig.
That crowd looks like a bunch of zombies
Dude: help to stand the cymbal.
Drummer: doesnt use it
Dude: wtf!nn
I have had a ride cymbal mounted on a bass drum fall and take the bass drum with it needless to say The music stopped until I got it fixed
Fall over? Ha. I’ve snapped the stand hahahaha. Feel u mate….
when the china cymbal fell it did a beat that smoothly went into the drumming idk what im saying but i hope yall know what i meant
Some music stores have little sandbags with a dip in the middle for putting on cymbal stands. That’s what I use when gigging

What’s the venue?
Pukkelpop festival in Belgium!
Oh shit it fell over!!!!! I had that happen when i was playing live. I had my one guitarist hold it up when i was playing for my other band lol
Me when my china falls over: "oh no, my china fell over"
I recall in 2018, my cymbal removed the keys off my laptop keyboard and hit my screen. I nearly stopped playing on stage to check out my laptop 😂😂😂
Once I played at this venue that had a wine bottle display quite high up above me. The vibrations sent a bottle off the shelf and almost landed on my head lol...my poor floor tom.
When did PINK start drumming?
How dare you not smack that thing immediately out of appreciation
He was going to hit his roadie
Sitting it back up without expanding the legs a bit only lends to the same problem. The base wasn’t wide enough
Wait, the guy didn't tighten the clamp or adjust the legs so it wouldn't happen again?
What band is this?
Gayle!
The fact that it crashed on beat
Dude tike to get a new stand ya llol or bring the legs out more lol
