- It has been 2 weeks since the last Lynyrd Skynyrd video so I had to upload another one for you guys. These guys have a way of making my whole mood change when listening to their music. I'm definitely going to be checking out more.
Here is my reaction to hearing Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

You're emotional because you're listening to music with substance, no autotune here, it's raw and emotional. This is the way music suppose to be.

I'm sure he has listened to plenty of rap that was raw and emotional, but that music is full of a different emotion than this. If all you ever hear is songs about rage and violence, then songs about beauty and love are new to the senses.
It means you're understanding the music, not just listening to it. Your appreciation will just grow and grow now.

If it doesn't it's not worth your time. Good emotions or sad emotions as long it makes you feel something.
Songs getting you emotional is one of the positives that age delivers, alongside the things that it can take away.
"Was I ever that young?" and "I will never be again." BUT...the music takes back to those times long past, and for a few minutes, I'm reborn. It's one of the pleasures that make the passing of time, and those we love, somewhat more bearable...because when the music takes me back, they're there with me.

I played this at my husband's funeral. He was a special, special, simple kind of man. Miss him so much.

My son was driving me in his car when this came on the radio. He looked at me and said, "Mom, this song is exactly what you have told me." I had sat him down a short time before and talked to him about what, I believe, is truly important. He was about to enter the Marines. This was while we were still at war with Iraq and Afghanistan. He is my only son and my only child. I'm so grateful he took my words and their lyrics to heart. Thank you for feeling this.
Lean, first off please tell your son WELCOME HOME AND THANK YOU! because of him and the ones he seved along, my grandchildren grew up safe and FREE. my Ma can identify with you, I was an only child also ( poor gal had 3 mis carries 1 before me and 2 after me. I was only 2 lbs 13 Oz. When I was born and wasn't expected to live, this was back in ' 69 ) . When I went into the Submarine force in '87 she always worried. Her and my Step Dad raised me the same. Thank you also MA'AM for giving up your son for our Nation's call. I know it must have been scary. I'm so glad he came home!!

"Songs are making me emotional". Music is SUPPOSED to engage an emotion. There a song for every moment. When you start connecting to music because of the art instead of the most printed artist, a whole world opens up.
This is the song we played at my only son funeral. It reminds me so much of him.

This song gets me every time...im 42 and play in a death metal band, but I've still got a mum that i love..... this song translates, and thats why it makes you feel the way it does

This makes everyone a bit teary man. It's not just you. It's new to you to feel this way, because rap music isn't about beauty and love; it's about rage and anger. Those songs touched you too, just in a different way.

I so enjoy the younger generation learning about bands from the past. I was a junior in high school when their plane crashed and was devastated. It’s the music of my teen years.
I was 16 and had tickets to see them a week later in Columbus, Ohio when the plane crashed. I knew at the time I would regret it, but I decided to get a refund, can’t imagine why I did.
There are two people still alive that were onstage at the Oakland concert. A background singer and the drummer Artemus Pyle.

Tuesday's Gone, Gimme Three Steps, Things Goin On, I Need You, Call Me The Breeze and on and on...Skynyrd has many songs that will put you in a mood or snap you out of one. I've been a fan for 40 years. One of my top 3 favorite bands.
You can't imagine the good memories I get when I listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Great parties and places.
I lost my son at the age of 23 in 20 09 . I played that song at his Funeral 😢💜 He lived to fast💜

Music has the power to move the world .. I am glad you are finding that out .. This older music had soul in it .. Most of today's music is soulless and just words that rhyme . No real meaning behind it .. it can't touch your soul , like the music from the 60's 70's 80's .

Southern Rock has a unique sound, and Lynyrd Skynyrd were/are the pinnacle of that style and sound. So yes, much of what you will hear from them has this same feel... and it all has the ability to get to the very depths of your soul.
Don’t feel uncomfortable about the emotions, music can be powerful and deeply profound. Wether is makes us cry, smile, gives us energy or helps us relax, not to mention regardless of lyrics at times how it just fits so magically as a soundtrack to our own lives and memories.
Especially if you stay in the wheelhouse of mid 60’s to mid 90’s music which is the greatest era of music without question and created at least 95% of the greatest music ever produced. 🤙🏻
This song is universal. All of us have a mother, a lot of us have children, so it just speaks to everyone. Another universal song that I feel almost everyone can relate to is “Night Moves” by Bob Segar.

Also, running against the wind. It was a hit when I was in high school and I played it a lot on my turntable and it's funny how is I've gotten older it keeps on taking on new meaning.
A lot of songs are about sons or mothers but do not touch your soul.

This is the song my mom and I danced at my wedding . Every time I hear it it always hits me. Love this song. Lynyrd Skynyrd is a great band!!
Think about an enery-charged coliseum full of people, all vibing to this song, singing out the chorus, thousands of lighters in the crowd, all swaying to the music. Unreal. This was easy to pick out as a Skynyrd song. Iconic sound.
Everyone has their favorites, but I think this is Skynyrd's best song. Simple, profound, and utterly timeless.

You’re heading down a great journey. I was a teen in70’s.. I have listened to the music in every generation, although there is still a lot of fun songs out there, the 70’s is the best. They had meaning and each hits you different. The expressions were real and heartfelt. Each band had its own style. When you finish a song and it makes you feel genuinely good and happy, you just got a glimpse of the simple times our generation had. Enjoy

This is a group of people making music for you. There’s not a lot of technology involved so it’s very human.

I cry every time I hear this song. Since it first came out when I was 15.
You feel emotional because you have a soul and this music touches the soul. It's not only because of the band's tragedy, it's how great music makes you feel. As you get deeper into great rock of all types you'll find this from so many different artists. This is the real stuff that all us older people are always banging on about, lol!
Their plane crashed about 30-35 miles away from where I graduated High School. R.I.P. RVZ gone but never forgotten. Ronnie didn't write his lyrics down because if they had to be written on a piece of paper, then they weren't good enough.

I KNOW all genres. I was as the ripe age for ALL genres. My household as a child was all of rock n roll. As a teen in the 80's I had a younger brother that gravitated to rap. Because of him I got into Snoop Dog big time & everything that was hip at the time..absolutely loved! I can say 100% that the rock n roll genre will always be here to stay in my heart deeply. Rap is a genre that can go.I will not miss. II am well rounded in rap. I can say that rock n roll is dear to my heart.🔴

I'm a middle-aged guy in the American Midwest and I grew up with Lynyrd Skynyrd and the plane crash happened when I was in junior high and it was really kind of devastating. But I love their music and I'm a musician of many decades.
But I also have always liked rap. I was around when it started basically and I ran with it ever since it was first there. It's hard to keep up with everything now it's kind of like sipping from a fire hose, but I do love a lot of it, like any genre is going to have some bullshit in it but there's going to be some gems hidden away in there as well. And then there's just good stuff. I like the party stuff and I like the stuff with a message as well, like Blackalicious and KRS-1 and Eminem and Lauren Hill, but I like some of the party stuff as well and I really love certain Nicki Minaj cuts, I've been following her since her first mixtape out of Queens in 2008. She's funny as hell and a lot of it has such great textures to it and it's almost like sound poetry sometimes.
But Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of those bands where I literally like every song on their several album catalog. Just amazing stuff. I really do generally recommend listening to their album Cuts first to hear what we all heard on the radio and what we heard on the albums and what got played in the bars and so forth.

You mentioned the playing of Freebird in Forrest Gump when Jenny was about to jump. Did you also notice that very early in the movie when she and Forest were young and running through the cornfield hiding from her father? She said she wished that she could be a bird and fly away.
That movie has a great soundtrack.
The difference between older/old music and the so called music of today is that it used to be about music. You could have something as simple as one guy on stage playing a guitar and singing and that was beautiful! Now it's all about the show and the costume changes and background dancers and auto-tune and electronically created music.

It's people who don't get emotional when listening to music that I worry about.
When they recorded it, the producer didn't like the song, the singer, Johnny got mad as hell brought him to his Rolls-Royce and told him to go back to New York and wait until they're finished ,if he would've listen to him we wouldn't have gotten one of the best songs ever
The guitars have "signature sound" after you listen to them a few times you could recognize them like you would a singer. Certainly music causes strong sensory reaction in most people. It makes you feel emotionally overwhelmed sometimes. I think it's a good thing....feeling, I mean. Thanks for the reaction video.

Each new generation, upon hearing some songs that may be considered dated, are genuinely surprised to learn the richness, depth and raw talent from those who were of times past and what they have actually given to the world. Some of that sadness may come from an inner knowing that something has been lost. There is nothing new under the sun except for finding the treasures that have always been there for everyone to partake of. Great reaction.

This tune always seems to get young men, for obvious reasons. It’s a pretty universal feeling at least for sons who had moms. Sing it at a bar with a bunk of drunk dudes and they’ll all be singing and crying lol.

Now that you’ve fallen down the Skynyrd rabbit hole…Another great song- more fast paced,( that still might hit you in the feels) , is ‘That Smell’… They have a couple others that send a message with a sense of humor too..’Gimme 3 Steps’ is one of them. We miss these talented musicians !
