I had never in 73 years of attending Catholic Church ever heard this song. Today on the Mass from Mercy Home Mass on channel 9 in Chicago, I finally heard it and fell in love with it. Powerfully uplifting! I can only imagine the faith and hope shown by the people that first sang this song. I read that it came from the Civil War era and was sung in the Black Protestant churches. Just a beautiful song and well performed by the Seekers. I was so glad to happen upon your channel and will revisit to see and hear more.
Judith Durham had a beautiful voice sadly she passed away about a year ago her voice lives on in our hearts forever really enjoyed your reaction best wishes
STAN to appreciate the full range of Judiths voice listen to her sing climb every mountain, her jazz classics are something special i would doubt anyone sang jazz better.
