    @ndhan72 , totally agree. The Aussies can rightfully be proud of these folks.
    The rest of the English-speaking world in Canada, the UK, New Zealand and here in America can't claim them as our own, but we can take great pride in the Seekers as close relatives, I think!

    Went to this 25th Anni show in Wellington, New Zealand. They opened with this song it is my fav. Also saw them 2 times in the 60's twice in the 90's and and twice in the 2000's and Judiths solo show twice. I was very lucky. This song was sung at every show. Rest easy Judith you beautiful thing.

    A few months back, I decided to search for some australian folk songs (i'm not australian), and found this one. Was interested in it so much that I now know it off by heart, and wish that I was Australian, and that I was able to see them.

    Looked up the verses in the Bible where it is about stars falling and found it in Matthew 24:3 where Jesus was asked what would be the signs of the end of the age. Stars falling is only one of them!

    @martyfan11 The funny thing about music and folk music in general, one thing leads to another and all of a sudden your tastes expand both in genres and artists. For example, if you like folk and bluegrass, go look up JP Cormier - Canada's "Lord of the Strings". If you like country, go check out the long career of Ian Tyson going from 60's folk to country to western music. If you just start with that you will find even more leads to more "paths" - all wonderful.

    OMG this is a wonderful performance, superb harmonies, notably the high C added (D seventh) at 2:03 is a grabber in this song. Although the Seekers are headlined as such, it's Judith's presence and voice that makes their many songs so very special.

    • @RobertEmmettHenry
      @RobertEmmettHenry 8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, certainly that ... and yet it keeps nagging at me, that "something else." The French nail it by admitting it rises above our understanding and is beyond words, with "Je ne c'est quoi." Simple wise country folk do it justice with an honest smile and "Somethin' special." I just know I married the woman answering to this description 48 years, 9 children and 16 grandchildren ago who has all my heart in hers and sends a lump in my throat every time she walks into view or I hear her speak to me .... We know this is proof of God, the perfection that is pure joy ....YAHOO and THANKS with all my heart!!!

    I am a folkie anyway, cause I love folk music in general. My most favourite is American folk, and my most favourite genre, bluegrass, is part of it. A few months back, I saw Marty Stuart in concert (with his band, the Fabulous Superlatives), and they do a lot of country and bluegrass, but they also incorporate one or two folk songs, which they did when I went to see them, and his bassist, "The Apostle" Paul Martin, is my no1 idol.

    @rdvqc
    I should've mentioned that it's not just folk and bluegrass etc that I like, cause I also like rock and metal, but bluegrass will always be my fave. I already have a wide array of artists that I've discovered, from John Denver and Johnny Cash to Emmylou Harris, Maddox Brothers & Rose, Doc Watson, Chieftains, Dubliners, you name it, but, before I found those artists, it was Celine Dion and Michael Bolton (don't ask why), cause my grandfolks would listen to that kind of stuff.
