The Seekers were another great Australian folk pop band from the 60's. Judith Durham had such a beautiful voice. She just passed away last year. They had so many great hits including "I'll Never Find Another You", "The Carnival Is Over", "A World Of Our Own", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day" etc. They have beautiful voices & harmonies. They don't make nostalgic music like this anymore. Reminds me of a simpler time.

This is actually the theme song to a movie by the same name, Georgie Girl. It was a bit of a scandalous movie when it came out because it was somewhat risque for the time. From wiki: ""Georgy Girl" ... by the Australian group The Seekers, was used as the title song for the 1966 film of the same title. [A really sweet movie that I also saw with older sibs upon its release!] It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song but the prize went to "Born Free".
I used like this song when it came out, and I remember watching The Seekers perform on The Ed Sullivan Show. I think they split up shortly afterwards, and the lead singer went solo. She passed away some years back. The only other song I remember from them was I'll Never Find Another You and it was pretty good.
The Seekers were an Australian band, the concert on this video is still the biggest attended event in the Southern hemisphere, and marked their return to Aus after a couple of years in which they had conquered both Britain and America, even knocking The Beatles off the Number 1 slot on the US charts. The band broke up in the 70’s while Judith pursued a solo career with her husband, mainly going down a more folk music route, but reunited fairly regularly before a tour to mark 50 years in the industry; the tour was supposed to take in Australia and the Royal Albert Hall in London but had to be delayed after the opening night when Judith suffered a near fatal brain aneurysm. They returned six months later and you’ll find lots of videos of their farewell tour - I Am Australian is the subject of a campaign to get it adopted as the country’s national anthem, and The Carnival Is Over is heartbreaking as you know for them it effectively was. Through all their careers Judith battled an incurable lung condition as a result of catching Mumps as a five year old, and she passed fairly quickly as the band were discussing what they could do to mark their 60th anniversary. Listening to interviews of the guys talking about their last conversations with her is really tearjerking.
The Seekers reunited in 1993 for their 25 Anniversary tour. You can find it on UA-cam. They also played multiple charity events together after that over the years. In 1997 the made the album Future Road. All but three songs on that album were written by the members of the Seekers. In 2013, the Seekers began their 50th Anniversary tour. After completing one of their concerts, Judith had a cerebral brain bleed and had to be hospitalized for quite sometime. So their tour was postponed while she was recovering and rehabilitating. Once she was well enough, they continued on and completed their tour but it was after that, that Judith decided that she wasn’t going to commit to any more tours. They still worked on music that was already in the works to produce their last album Carry me. Which was released after Judith’s death in August of 2022. She died of a lung disorder caused by the measles that she contracted when she was a child. She had a beautiful voice and together their group had a very unique sound.

Kind of random, but have you reacted to a massive pop rock hit from the mid-70s by the British band The Sweet called Fox on the Run? It's like the ultimately dense 70s analog recording goodness, and so memorable and so catchy, and definitely a sing-along song. Some great vocal performances as well.
@@MrsPenPalit's pretty classic and it's an example of glam rock that is just a small part of the overall Rock sound but it's still a part of it and they also dressed that way on stage. Fox on the Run and Ballroom Blitz are two huge hits off of that Desolation Boulevard album in the mid-70s. I bet you would love them both.
