The seekers were huge in the 60s and Judith sang like an angel. The Seekers’ Bruce Woodley wrote a beautiful song called I am Australian which many people here think should be our National anthem. Rest in peace Judith you are greatly missed.❤️
hi mate if you like this song you have to watch i am australian by the seekers its our unreconisde national anthem we take great pride in this song davo from gold coast queensland
Judith was truly an angel sent from heaven! Her voice penetrates into my heart and soul like a knife. The Seekers' music is timeless. Thankyou God for sending Judith and the Seekers to us. Judith, enjoy your eternal life in heaven. Your time here on earth was a gift to us all. Thank you!
The Seekers were a great Australian folk pop band from the 60's. And Judith Durham had such a beautiful voice. You've done some of their biggest hits already. Other songs are "Come The Day", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day", "I Wish You Could Be Here" etc. They have beautiful voices & harmonies.
Judith is such a beautiful innocent soul, and I miss her so much. Her personality came thru her vocals, and I'm sure there are many who loved her as I do...RIP dear one.. PS the whole band is remarkable..
Having said that....have you heard another Australian singer called John Farnham? You might also fall in love with his voice. In Australia we call him the Voice. You could start with his live performance of You're the Voice with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. And thank you for this reaction. The Seekers was the first album I ever bought back in.. late 60s. Cheers.
I agree with you 100% percent. I also just discovered them. I am almost addicted to these singers. I feel cheated for not finding them decades ago. I love them so much.
From the south, you may like some of her later Jazz covers such as "Basin St Blues" or "Give me a Pigfoot and a Bottle of Beer". (Whatever that means!!)
They were so good, great harmonies. Apparently the song is based on a Russian song about a Cossack going off to war and leaving his sweetheart behind. I think it worked.
It's about a Russian Cossack Pirate who throws his wife overboard to drown as his men begin to question his authority, as he was obviously deeply in love.
This is one of my favorite songs. I also suggest checking out Emerald City, it has video clips of The Wizard of Oz, sung to the tune of a Beethoven piece and just so very enchanting!! The Seekers of course!
Please react to "I Am Australian", especially the final performance, it is a song that should be our National Anthem. It is amazing and speaks so much about Australia.
Good onya Stan . Good honest reaction to our girl and boys of the Seekers mate . I reckon you would like some different Australiana once you’ve finished covering the Seekers and I’d like to see how you handle Eric Bogles’ “Green Fields of France “. John Williamson does a great version of it too .
Look at this,The New Musical Express Poll winners concert 1965 complete ,seekers, stones ,Beatles but the best band were the Seekers ,see if you can find this and let me know. it lasts for nearly two hours i am watching it now.
Can I suggest you check this out bro? Take a look at Kenny Rogers’ Coward Of The County, it is a sublime e smoke of GREAT story telling, as only Kenny could!
Great group and harmonies. Judith's voice was out of this world. RIP Judith 😢😢 ❤❤❤
I think this is my favourite Seekers song. It's just so haunting
I love The Seekers, and im happy that you listened to them and became a fan. Thank you for such a wonderful comment!
I love listening to The Seekers. I never get tired of hearing their songs. Thank you ❤
I'm a country boy, (once) tough as nails and scared of no man or beast, but this song always mists up my eyes to this day. RIP our little Angel.
I’ve enjoyed your reaction to the Seekers more than any other - I know Judith would have loved it too. Thank you for appreciating them as you do.
The Seekers often ended their performances with this song. Always brings tears. RIP Judith our Aussie Angel.

So unassuming and humble, yet perhaps the greatest voice of all time

Her voice was as beautiful at the end as it was in the beginning.

My Dad use to hum this song a lot right up to the end when i use to visited him in a old peoples home.
The Seekers are my favorite group of all time so glad you are reacting to them, would you please react to Morningtown Ride? Another awesome song.
My family played this song at the finale at my dads funeral . He loved The Seekers 😢
Another great reaction. Everything you say is so true..
You have to watch their farewell performance, 40 years on from this and Judith's voice at 72 was stronger.

Yes, it's a somewhat modified version of that Russian folk song called Stenka Razin, which they openly acknowledged.
It's about a Russian Cossack Pirate who throws his wife overboard to drown as his men begin to question his authority, as he was obviously deeply in love.
The only singer today whose voice is as clean, clear, crystalline, pristine and pure as Judith's is Emanne Beasha
And The Carnival is really over now with the passing of Judith
So good!

The only issue with this song is that it’s a bit long for an anthem. Trouble is, which verses could you cut?
