I visited the limbo system myself like you told us to around the beginning of your playthrough, and I can't deny abyssal hyperspace is genuinely unsettling.
I was half-expecting Starsector to suddenly turn into a horror game, like how ULTRAKILL randomly put jumpscares in one of the newest levels. Is that sensor reading just another sensor ghost or is it a fleet of 4 ziggurats? I sure hope it doesn't move! (i approach it because curiosity is killing me)

I went to the abyss a while ago and found the very nice special loot. Wouldn’t call it fear but not knowing what was hiding in the dark was a little unsettling. Especially when I found the lights that, when you interact with them, look like eyes.
(If you can’t see it look at the portrait. It looks like one eye is directly staring at you and another light in the background is the second one. Their relative position to each other makes it look like a spectral face)

What? I've went to the abyss before, abyssal lights are just some light spots that you can interdict for speed or scan for scan range

Went to the abyss like yesterday. Armed to the teeth and all and well it was genuinely disappointing.
When i went to the abyss for the first time all music faded out so it was really unsettling driving through the void with only the burn drive making noise

Speaking of the fortress system, I had a gas giant with 2 cryovolcanic orbital. Patrol base instead of military base but made for amazing production.

Not possible on the automated ships. You'd have to download mods. How do I know? I actually have the ships and the game specifically explains you can't. It sounds like this used to be possible but Alex must of fixed it.

Edit: lol he mentioned he did this late into the video. It's still pretty hard to find good pilots so it's far from easy, just possible now. Ya in the Starsector Settings file you can adjust the number of officers in the sector, default 40. I've raised it in the past so I could actually have options.
There is no way to make a perfect fortress world. What you forgot to account in the plan is that Mining needs Drugs, which means you need Light Industry, which means your need Organics. And Organics dont exist on planets without atmosphere. It would also burst past the 5 industries slots due to Light Industries.
Further more I think that they also need normal personnel, which means they need the population center, which needs food.
So unless you have a size 8 colony, with Hypershunt, that has no atmosphere, all 4 resources and farmland and extreme heat, you cant have a perfect fortress world.
You also need the Grand Colony mod, since Vanilla limits you to 9 structures per colony and a size 8 fortresss would have 7 industries, spaceport, population center, starfortress, ground defence, planetary shield. So a total of 12 structures
Drugs for mining has no effect on output. If there's a drug shortage it only penalizes colony growth, which doesn't matter once the colony is max size.
Vanilla colonies have 12 slots? I don't know where you got 9 from.
You do need to import food, but if a shipment goes missing it's just a stability penalty which a high command helps counteract. Still, I guess it's not strictly "perfect."
I guess Luddic majority balances out against the extra production from alpha cores

I was going to start a new game where i purposely choose a red warning system and colonize a planet with a station over it. Then start a fortress economy where I pile AI cores and tech mining to lure in the rivals.
Haven't played new patch yet, so I don't know if it still works, but you can save little bit of fuel by transverse jump at the outer edge of the system.

Could the mysteriously mined planet in the abyss be the work of the drone fleet for repairing the gate hauler ? It could explain why no human traces could be found. But why invest resources to make it look unscated ?

You can try 1v fleet pirates eith odeessey i added expanded missilw rack two sabots one hurricane launcher on rig t side. Two autopulse lasers to i dont lose flux. I got dystem expertise and keep boosting to or away to kite. Point defence burst lasers are real good. And an antimatter blaster at front. But its mlre a missile boat. And accelerated shields

No you only find wormhole items and gate in the abyss.

Typically, Ordnance Expertise is an obvious pick for my officers. Do you find it unnecessary on high tech ships because of their already good flux stats, or do you find it weak in general?
So what do the wormhole anchor points do? You can set one anchor each in 2 different systems and basically make a Gate that requires no fuel or something?

Is it actually possible to have the tap function without stockpiling? Last time I played the tap added a demand for like 10x transplutonics and I’m pretty sure it isn’t possible to cover that without some mod shenanigans or manually stockpiling them heavy metals, which is ass, simply put.
It is possible but it requires you to stack basically every bonus you can, which shouldn't be too hard for me in this playthrough. Size 6 colony with catalytic core, alpha core, and an administrator gets up to 9 production and you can slot a gamma core into "population and infrastructure" to reduce the demand to 9.
Missed opportunity there not renaming your Atlas to "Long Crate of Solace".

Get lucky or talk to pathers for a quest and they will lead you to it.

Link in description, the mod does work on 0.97 but the game will prevent you from using it until you change the version listed in mod info.
What's the green arrow sound your ship in battles? Is it just the direction you're moving or...? Is it from a skill?
That's a direction indicator from a mod (link in description).

Another thing, idk if captains log is working, is the fleet log where im supposed to be checking? Says no entries, but im seeing other tabs showing gates and such but, idk if that's vanilla or not
@@l4dfanatic11captain's log will show things like ruins in a new "salvage tab." Normally the game doesn't keep track of those.
The fleet log tab is where you can create custom notes.
