I visited the limbo system myself like you told us to around the beginning of your playthrough, and I can't deny abyssal hyperspace is genuinely unsettling. I was half-expecting Starsector to suddenly turn into a horror game, like how ULTRAKILL randomly put jumpscares in one of the newest levels. Is that sensor reading just another sensor ghost or is it a fleet of 4 ziggurats? I sure hope it doesn't move! (i approach it because curiosity is killing me)

21:14 This portrait is actually based off of Provost Zakharov from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, a 4X game from the 90s. Baird's "technological advance is an inherently iterative process" quote earlier in the story is also a reference to this, as are portraits 25 through 30.
I went to the abyss a while ago and found the very nice special loot. Wouldn’t call it fear but not knowing what was hiding in the dark was a little unsettling. Especially when I found the lights that, when you interact with them, look like eyes. (If you can’t see it look at the portrait. It looks like one eye is directly staring at you and another light in the background is the second one. Their relative position to each other makes it look like a spectral face)
>lights that, when you interact with them, look like eyes What? I've went to the abyss before, abyssal lights are just some light spots that you can interdict for speed or scan for scan range What do you mean "look like eyes"???
The honorable fleet you unfairly labeled as "commerce raiders" are actually peacekeeping officers semt to protect your colony. This message was sponsored by the Tri-Tachyon corporation. We wish you a profitable day. (Hint hint, wink wink)
The epitome of "quantity has a quality all its own" is 2 odysseys and 25 luddic path brawlers. That can slaughter Ordos with 0 s-mods and 2 officers. Just press full assault and watch the insanity.
When i went to the abyss for the first time all music faded out so it was really unsettling driving through the void with only the burn drive making noise
Edit: lol he mentioned he did this late into the video. It's still pretty hard to find good pilots so it's far from easy, just possible now. Ya in the Starsector Settings file you can adjust the number of officers in the sector, default 40. I've raised it in the past so I could actually have options.
Not possible on the automated ships. You'd have to download mods. How do I know? I actually have the ships and the game specifically explains you can't. It sounds like this used to be possible but Alex must of fixed it.
I was going to start a new game where i purposely choose a red warning system and colonize a planet with a station over it. Then start a fortress economy where I pile AI cores and tech mining to lure in the rivals.
Is it actually possible to have the tap function without stockpiling? Last time I played the tap added a demand for like 10x transplutonics and I’m pretty sure it isn’t possible to cover that without some mod shenanigans or manually stockpiling them heavy metals, which is ass, simply put.
It is possible but it requires you to stack basically every bonus you can, which shouldn't be too hard for me in this playthrough. Size 6 colony with catalytic core, alpha core, and an administrator gets up to 9 production and you can slot a gamma core into "population and infrastructure" to reduce the demand to 9.
So what do the wormhole anchor points do? You can set one anchor each in 2 different systems and basically make a Gate that requires no fuel or something?
Haven't played new patch yet, so I don't know if it still works, but you can save little bit of fuel by transverse jump at the outer edge of the system.
Typically, Ordnance Expertise is an obvious pick for my officers. Do you find it unnecessary on high tech ships because of their already good flux stats, or do you find it weak in general?
i would have gone for dreams of atlantic on that omen, or maybe dreams of static. 1:51:25 the word you're looking for is personification/personify. can you find colony items in the abyss?
No you only find wormhole items and gate in the abyss. Dreams of atlantic is actually really good. I might steal that one. The word I was looking for was anthropomorphize.
Could the mysteriously mined planet in the abyss be the work of the drone fleet for repairing the gate hauler ? It could explain why no human traces could be found. But why invest resources to make it look unscated ? Or maybe , something lurking at the gate of persean sector really want to stay under the radars.
You can try 1v fleet pirates eith odeessey i added expanded missilw rack two sabots one hurricane launcher on rig t side. Two autopulse lasers to i dont lose flux. I got dystem expertise and keep boosting to or away to kite. Point defence burst lasers are real good. And an antimatter blaster at front. But its mlre a missile boat. And accelerated shields
@bigbrainenergyguy i would recommend it to you and gladly heard your opinion about it. More technology / SF bits of intel are extremely welcome by the way. Keep it up.
@@bigbrainenergyguy oh duh, thanks. Another thing, idk if captains log is working, is the fleet log where im supposed to be checking? Says no entries, but im seeing other tabs showing gates and such but, idk if that's vanilla or not
@@l4dfanatic11captain's log will show things like ruins in a new "salvage tab." Normally the game doesn't keep track of those. The fleet log tab is where you can create custom notes.

Spoiler: There is the Abyss in this episode. I am not kidding.
Aint no way
Bro.... not cool
The "Hello Gamers" is going to make me laugh every single time.
The real abyss is no new playthrough with that buttery voice for us to watch, and its truly terrifying

@@joelfilho2625its just figure speech, i bet.
Excited to actually catch the premier of one of these! Can't wait to see what you find in the abyss!
Not much in there
Yes I do, last time I went there, I saw some lights going about... some spooky shit let me tell ya, I'm not going back there anytime soon.
I think the Graven Declaration could be a good name for Paragon number 2

always a joy! masterful as always cheers
Ooh I have t seen anybody do the abyss yet.
Went to the abyss like yesterday. Armed to the teeth and all and well it was genuinely disappointing.
Speaking of the fortress system, I had a gas giant with 2 cryovolcanic orbital. Patrol base instead of military base but made for amazing production.
When i went to the abyss for the first time all music faded out so it was really unsettling driving through the void with only the burn drive making noise

I guess Luddic majority balances out against the extra production from alpha cores
1:12:00 You can remove the D mods with the skill hull restoration the monthly thing does get rid of them last i checked..
Yes, it also removes special modifications in lion's guard ships and it used to remove I'll advised modifications as well, truly a goated skill

Newton's Vital Covenant
While you were naming ships, i thought "Covenant's Passage" was a good name for the second paragon

2:29:39 why did you not use the black hole to woshhh out? haha
I would assume a Rogue Abyssal black hole is so rare that it didn,t even cross his mind
That is, in fact, how it works in real life.

Correct.

What's the green arrow sound your ship in battles? Is it just the direction you're moving or...? Is it from a skill?
That's a direction indicator from a mod (link in description).

Can you provide a link to the motion direction mod for version 0.97
Link in description, the mod does work on 0.97 but the game will prevent you from using it until you change the version listed in mod info.
You have mods active?
Missed opportunity there not renaming your Atlas to "Long Crate of Solace".
how do you find a planet killer?
Get lucky or talk to pathers for a quest and they will lead you to it.
