Right, and Kepler 22 - which mirrors this birthing prison, as Bryce said - is also a birthing prison. A prison for Sol and a means for his rebirth, and also a messed up biology birthing prison for the humans who stumble in... just like every other Ridley Scott story hahahah. Basically all of this technology is evil and will weird mutations.

The humanoid that put the cards in mother's path is the same humanoid that snatched them out of Marcus' hand and the same humanoid that attempted to kill mother but was killed by mother instead. This was also confirmed in an interview with the shows creator, Aaron G. Aaron also said of that particular humanoid that it belonged to a line of humans that were able to evade being completely devolved.

in season 1 mother says something to the kids like "number five is in the base of the creation", there where five children in that moment, and the tree has five branches, the temples are a bunch of pentagons.
I think one of the main narratives from this show is control. And how easily human minds, and AI robots alike, can be controlled via programming. Either by symbols and visions and speaking to peoples minds [humans]', or actual coding or manipulation of AI robots, and the Trust too. But human capacity of emotion, becoming a part of mother and father's behaviour, is a giveaway that human emotions can somehow break control. For example, love and care. Will love and care beat an evil AI bent on control? By the way, great work on researching the real life Mithraism religion. I looked it up but got confused pretty quickly. I think if you keep looking into it, you might find more clues. It's possible the screenwriter found stories from real Mithraism and use them to create this show.

One of the things I keep trying to sort out for myself is when exactly Mythraicism became a major religion as it pertains to this great show. Grandmother mentions a war between the Technocrats and the Believers. She doesn't mention Mythraicism. A Mythraic women notices that there are no Mythraic symbols or depictions of Sol in that one busted out pentagonal temple in the tropical zone. The only place I remember any sign of Mythraicism on Kepplar was in that cave that Marcus found by the ocean in the tropical zone. Grandmother also says "in deep fear, even an atheist will create a god to pray to." I think it's safe to say that the deep fear that helped create Mythraicism on Kepplar was that humans were being both evolved, by the Entity, and devolved by Grandmother.
Possibly Mythraicism was developed by only a small fraction of the humans left on Kepplar and they r the ones that left for Earth where Mythraicism grew to it's power. Then the Mythraic returning to Kepplar mistakenly assigned the Entity as Sol. Not knowing what really happened there in the past, and the cycle of devolving and evolving humans on Kepplar begins again.
It's pretty clear Mithraism wasn't developed in K22b, but its core elements were, and these "Believers" created them or passed them along to Earth.
@@Ennio444 how do you explain the sun symbol on the wall of the cave Marcus and his followers stayed in in the tropical zone? Coincidence? I was only thinking Mythraicm's early beginnings started on Kepler, out of fear and yes, developed on Earth.
I think the core of the planet we see at the end of season 1 is Sol, which is actually a massive ancient quantum computer (similar to The Trust).

Great videos! But I have another theory related to this pentagonal box. I think those figurse in hoods are actually worshipers of the entity. I do not think the entity itself is Sol - we have 2 separate beings - Sol was the good one and it has an antagonist. Going back to the box - it was said in the series that Sol/aka bad entity was able to controll snakes. I think that this box is actually a kind of a prison for the pregnant androids. Meaning that the entity was able to impregnate androids before, and in order to keep them from running away he ordered his worshipers to crate a prison. When we look closely at the helmet that the imprisoned android is wearing we can see that it has a hole in a shape of a tube from which snake can easily come out. Another prove is that next to the box, Lamia has found snake's skin. Maybe those androids were forced to give a birth, and than to feed the newborn snake to death. After giving a birth, Lamia was feeding the serpent and it was literally sucking her strenghts/life out of her. I believe the card was a worning that Lamia has received - someone tried to show her that the history itself is repeating. And about the origin of Sol/bad entity - I have another theory but I would need to translate it into english first ;)

Dude, you made more sense in a 12min video about Raised by Wolves, than the entire second season. I've been holding on to exactly what you were talking about, I saw the signs since first season and was very excited to see what they will do with it, but the execution in season two just didn't land for me. It truly failed to do justice to season 1. But you nailed it on all the Mithraism and added a few I missed. Great work bro!

What do you think is the purpose of grandmother's shining feature? Campion initially thought she was Sol when he saw it. Do you think the ancient humans believed an Android like her (maybe grandfather/father) was Sol started worshipping him. Grandmother's android type is called "shepherd" similar to the "Lord is my shepherd" in Christianity. In the final episode grandmother told lamia even atheists make up God's to pray to when they are afraid. In that case it makes sense that the Core/entity is the opposing force/devil and it seems that his purpose is to evolve humans into snakes. Remember when Paul was in the cocoon lamia specifically told Sue "he's evolving" then sue said "he's turning into a snake" which is the opposite of grandmother's "devolving" function. That was long, but just some theories I had
RBW is the most complex, intricate show I've ever watched. It's like the writer spent a lifetime putting this together.
It's not that intricate because you can always introduce DEUS EX MACHINA.
I hope they bring this show to a logical conclusion eventually but my prediction is they will introduce more convoluted themes just to keep the show going for a few more $eason$. 😁
It's soaked in mysticism and hidden messages, but so were all these cults and their scriptures, songs, rituals and general imagery. What you're feeling, this awe in the complexity and the depth of meaning, is what made these mystery cults successful. I think this is the best token to the showrunner's understanding of these cults (mithraism, the eleusine cult, orphic groups, pythagoreans, Isis' cult, Hermanubis and many others), their attempt at making a show that mimics their appeal.
Do you remember "Lost". Writers are just making up things on the fly. It's just a show. But they like to toy with people to came up with theories to keep the audience engaged
@@docmccoy9813 This show didn't feel anything at all like Lost, and it certainly didn't feel like the writers were making everything up on the fly. Every detail, every twist and turn of the plot, felt planned and well executed. Every reveal made sense withing the context of the storytelling, everything was earned and there were no huge plotholes or uses of ridiculous deus ex machina. We know why Mother didn't kill Number 7 when she first had the chance, we know why Grandmother is devolving the humans, everything about the tree and the serpent foreshadowing was payed off, Sue got eaten as a motherfing tree! The showrunner obviously planned a lot of this stuff well in advance of making season 2, since it was foreshadowed in the first season! I'm genuinely sad they canceled this show because I was excited to see where the story was going, and what the show would really have to say by its end. Hopefully some other streaming service or channel will pick it up.

ok so Sol is not what we think and not what the Mithraic think. The entity is not evil and it might not even be 1 entity. the voice of sol came in different voices. i think there is a good reason why "sol" wants to destroy the planet, i think sol is trapped against his own will and is suffering and is basically in hell which is in the center of the planet sol might be a collective of people who are trying to end their suffering.
I think if the Entity is not evil than it would be in the same manner that grandmother doesn't think what she is doing to humanity is evil. It looks like the Entity "altered the equation" just like grandmother but instead of devolving humans, it is evolving them into a more advanced hybrid tech/bio species.
I agree that there is possibly more than one voice but I also think the source of all of the voices is coming from the same place. The Entity at the core.
I like your idea that the cave scratches, where grandmother was found were a form of vandalism with the goal of hiding information. I still feel it was an execution chamber and scratches are product of mere-people dismembering her. The cosmic egg myth stuff is a very clever as well! Instead of humanity it is the androids that are both the chicken and the egg in this story, so jealous, lol.

I'm glad someone is finally making these connections. I think the show is making more references to real life Mithraism than we realize. Mostly because there's so little information available on real life Mithraism and it's hard to find.
I don't think it's making more references to Mithraism, there's literally nothing else on it. You can find easily accessible academic literature on the nature of Mithraism, but we have zero texts, only murals, statuettes and a couple of steles. Some people draw connections between Iranian Mithras and Roman Mithra, but they're pretty much different entities, even if the Roman Mithra clearly comes from a poorly understood vision of the Iranian god. Religion4Breakfast has a deep dive in what we know of Mithraism and... it's not much.

I've known near zero about Mithraism (real or RbW) until recently, but I DID see a familiar name pop up in your research just now: Arimanias.... Or who I propose is possibly AKA Ariman, the antagonist of Zarathustra/Zoroastrianism. The old world 'gods' we're often known by many names, or had near analogous counterparts in different societies of the day. Though the majority of today's 'society' doesn't realize it, Ariman is the closest thing it has to a true twisted 'patron saint'...

I've never been able to find out if there was any relationship between Roman Mithraism and the Gnostic religions of Late Antiquity. If there was, that would add another layer of coherence to this idea that Sol is evil, as in Gnosticism there are dualism deities, one good, one evil, the latter being the deity which has essentially blinded humanity to the illusion we call reality. Just a thought that came to mind from watching this video. Great job overall. I got a lot out of this and the previous one you made about "RBW."

I’m still a little confused by those cards, doesn’t mother use one as a tape when she shows how the trees are made. Do they all function like that? If so why have they only watched that one with the tree?
Mother can read the cards, like watching a video, through her eyes. She has actually read two cards at this point. One that showed her the birth of the snake and another that showed her the tree process. In season one a humanoid Kepler being puts 5 cards in mother's path hoping she will read all of them but before she gets a chance to, the Entity infects Paul and has Paul burn all the cards. Since then, only damaged, unreadable cards have been found until Marcus took the one intact tree card from that humanoid being in the cave. I'm hoping they do find and read the rest of the cards but right now they have to figure out how to stop grandmother's plans.

Wouldn't that helmet be more of a ceremonious headpiece for an android to birth a snake? The fuel blood coming out of the mouth hole would be explained by the serpent coming out of the mouth.

Great info on RBW. On the subject of Adam and Eve and the serpent, consider this, they didn't know 'good from evil' or 'right from wrong' before eating the 'fruit of the knowledge of good and evil'. How then were they expected to never eat that fruit? Try telling an ape not to eat something that smells edible and see how long before it eats it anyway. Try telling the nicest dog in the world not to eat some yummy smelling meat and see how long before it does anyway.
It was Theodosius not Constantine that made christianity the offical religion of the Roman Empire..Constantine just issued an edict of toleration..as in stop throwing these people to the lions n stuff.
Also I think SOL is an AI that went rogue in an earlier age of humans on K22b,its hot down the holes that lead to the core because it needs ventilation for cooling.
Also in the S2 intro you see the "temples" with broadcasting towers on top..so I assume they were exit nodes of SOL.

Great video! The next order of business is to figure out how all these things fit together in the bigger picture. For example, why are humans trapped in this cycle of creation and de-evolution? What is Sol's end-game? Is it simply to wipe out humanity or is it to find the perfect organism ala Alien series. When is season 3 coming???

I think sol spoke to the first followers. They were likely exploring space and suddenly someone from the crew heard a voice.
I’m going to have to rewatch season one and two together. But no matter. This show is pretty complicated and a bit obtuse so let’s see if HBOMAX renews it for a third season. The delay in doing so makes me wonder if a renewal is coming.

I was thinking about what you said in this video, and i think your close, but maybe a little off. What if the previous humans were of Orphic tradition, a different kind of cult from ancient times in Greece, while the new one is Mithraic of Rome. Also I think what the ancient Humans are doing is a form of Greek Necromancy as mentioned in the Odyssey.
Geez.... A lot of this would have been nice to know and understand while actually watching the show. The show seems like a mess without this backstory and convincing speculation of what things actually are. You make it sound MUCH better than I remember it.

True, it has so much esoteric and occult symbolism in it - which is why I enjoyed it so much! I can understand how someone not educated or familiar with occultism and pagan religion, could get easily bored.
Mithra btw is Venus. The mother goddess of destruction and creation. She is both because the planet Venus used to be a comet and when it was yet to have a solidified orbit - it caused immense cataclysmic cosmological events. Beit atmospheric transfers via plasma charges (like giant lightning bolts or snakes) or just solar winds. Then after it settled and stabilised, it was not seen nearly as negativity, and more like the mother of the modern age.
It's super interesting. Definitely would recommend Ev Cochrane talks about it. Essentially all ancient pagan religions primary Gods were Mars, Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter.

Something I never understood in the series - the show speaks on Mithraism. But what happened to all other religions on earth? Buddhism, Christianity. Judaism etc? I mean, the story told is in the 22nd century so there has to be some connection to our current reality of different religions. (It’s not an alternate reality like game of thrones) How come in the series there is only 1 religion ? (Mithraism) what happens in the future to all other religions?
In this story line, the Mythraic killed out pretty much any other religion that try to exist on earth. It did that with it's advanced weapons. Also in this story, Atheist doesn't just equate to someone who doesn't believe in a God. In this series, Any person that didn't believe in Sol as the only god was considered an Atheist.
It is an alternate history, where Mithracism became the dominant religion instead of christianity

Personally, I think that the fruit contained nanobots, nanites, that will allow sol to forcebly enslave or devolve the people who ate from it, Similarly as to what happened to that creature in the cave. If you’ll remember it started off much more human, but the minute it became active in this time, it quickly devolved down into one of the creatures that you see now, which leads me to believe that it’s a fact across the board is uniform because of sols signal. It will force them to do things, and then devolve them just like it did with sue, and like grandmothers “game” did to the other. You really start to feel bad for the settlers because they’re just getting it from all sides.
What about the snake skin over the face of the devolved human? Being very similar to the face cover helmet thing from grandmother.

I'm thinking that the entity is one of the original snakes of the ancient times, and that the "believers" worshipped them as gods. I also think that they lived underground as you can see in the last episode of season 1, the core looks like a type of beehive. There was even a scene where marcus went down the hole and there was a snake coming up the hole towards the surface. Also in the pilot episode, all the weird shit started happening only after the ship fell all the way down that first hole. I'm thinking this is what woke the entity up. Of course the last of the godlike sentient snakes would want to revive it's species, and probably kept some of it's worshipers' bloodlines alive in order to take care of everything it needs done on the surface. It might also be the reason why mother wanted number seven to be born right beside one of the holes.

In the cave drawings that Paul finds, it appears the ship is leaving Kepler for Earth, not the other way around. Another video pointed this out, and looking at the image, I think that may be correct since it does look like it's leaving Kepler, not headed to Kepler.
Sol is omnipotent, but has to work wothin the confines of the tool it's using. Humans have "free will" which means they might not do what it wants. I doubt it would happen often though with how stacked the deck is.
Sol i feel is something akin to the programme running the tarantula ship before Mother but I've been wrong on alot of things

3:28 I hate how 90% of people get it wrong. Constantine did not make Christianity the official religion, he just made it legal, stopped the persecutions. Theodosius was the one who proclaimed Christianity to be the sole legal religion in the 380's IIRC, long after Constantine had died.

So the opposite of Wisdom would be something like intentional Ignorance.
I think the show was setting another parallel to how wrong both Sol and Athiests ( or whatever the force opposing him are calling them this time).
Sol is the predatory monster in the dark, manipulating and discarding those around him. No emotional depth (literally lizard brain. Survival only.) But intelligent and willing to help you help it. People who have experienced trauma (especially in childhood) are more likely to experience it again in adulthood. Subconsciously they repeat the cycle, and the show says those who have experienced trauma are susceptible to his influence.
Grandmother lies through omittance, thinking she's protecting humanity by easing that short term pain. But in doing so they never evolve, they never have the emotional experiences required to grow as a human, so they revert.
Campion being extra susceptible makes sense too. He was already the "least civilized" by Sol and Athiest standards, who are more emotionally intelligent. But have you ever had to interact long term with someone who has REALLY REALLY poor emotional intelligence? It's stressful, it hurts. Like an acidic ocean. Comfy for the callous, deathly painful for the more sensitive. Also I think the analogy still fits with the repercussions of the .... "scene where a thing was yoinked"... by the creature. That there's representing generational trauma.
TL;DR - it's all about trauma.
you can't live life avoiding all potential trauma at all costs (like grandmother's way) NOR can you allow your trauma to run your life, cause it will destroy you and your world (Sol cycle).
