Shepherds and Necromancers are two different kinds of androids. Grandmother makes a point of calling Mother "the weapon." I don't think she would mention this if she were a weapon too. It's pointed out that Grandmother has something unknown in place of Mother's weapons system.
Yeah, grandmother emitted radiant light that no other android has ever, no even necromancers. That is an indication of something very important embedded in her that makes her different from an ordinary necromancer.
I would agree with you because Necromancers were originally created to destroy/kill. Grandmother/Shepards were originally created to ensure the everlasting life of humans.
🤔 At first I thought the “Number 7” tree was new, but isn’t it just the “Sue” tree in a zombified form? Number 7 didn’t really digest the tree, so when it died, the Sue tree broke out of the dead serpent body. Super creepy scene!
And another thing about Number 7 weaponazied-serpent is that is it really trying to hunt Campion or is it trying to lure him away? Because when it is chasing Campion just after the forest it seems to hesitate on attacking him when it could easily scream-muder Campion, even shooting the acid water in a manner foreshadowing Grandmother plans to devolve humans. It was strangely protective of Campion even when chasing him. And about Sue-tree, what if Number 7 destroyed it to prevent Sol from comunicating inside the EMF? We are driven to conclude that Number 7 is just Sol's puppet and plain evil but I think it is a lot more complex and has emotions too like Campion tell to Vrille one time. Well, will we ever know now, with Number 7 killed? Probably not.
I absolutely love how bat shit mental this show is. Its not for everyone, hell, not every episode is for me, but it is never boring, feels totally fresh and original and you absolutely have no idea what is going to turn into what and how unpleasant a characters fate is going to be one minute to the next. I love it. Excellent breakdown, there were things I'd missed and I've watched it intently!
This is easily one of THE BEST, currently available, sci-fi series! And everyday I pray to Sol that it doesn't get cancelled! Great vid man, thx for the upload.
The superhero movies have killed the sense of what a true sci-fi means: a social commentary on human condition in the wake of technological systems. People have learnt to focus on over saturaton with CGI and cant appreciate anymore when the true gem comes along.

My guess is the fruit from the tree prevents humans from devolving. That’s why Campion shows signs of devolving because he didn’t eat the fruit. I think that sol’s true purpose might be more complicated and morally ambiguous.

This season 2 of Raised by wolves drives me so crazy the best SF series ever seen. More intense than the first season Aaron Guzikowski announced 5 season he is the creator the screenwriters and the collaboration with Ridley Scott gives this series a unique universe.
I will never forgive HBOMAX's cancellation of the unique series RAISED BY WOLVES created by Aaron Guzikowski and produced by Ridley Scott. Lamia interpreted by Amanda Collin father I will miss the children.
To rectify the explanation of Lamia that you gave, Hera cursed Lamia to be unable to sleep after finding out she slept with her husband, and Zeus offered Lamia the ability to remove and reinsert her eyes, so that she could sleep.
I’ve really enjoyed this show and hope it returns for another few season. After watching each episode I’d listen to a couple podcast about it to try to understand it better. I should have just watched this 20m and saved a couple dozen hours, because I have learned vastly more from this video. Super well done. Thank you. 🤙🏽
@@terrencejackson914 I know that and that’s very exciting, but from what I’ve heard, it hasn’t been renewed for season 3. Show runners and tv ceos aren’t always on same page.
+1. Seriously I had no read on this sertes at all, and I’ve been reading and watching SF since the 1950s. Brilliant close reading and smart takes on literate allusions.
1. Grandmother mutated Tempest’s baby when it was still in the womb. You see an “ultrasound” of the baby on Grandmother’s veil when she does it, and we see Tempest feel it when this is happening. The baby starts to develop much faster after this happens, which might mean that Grandmother also did something to Tempest at the same time to accelerate gestation. That moment when Tempest goes into Father’s workshop is why the baby was acid resistant. 2. Romulus’ tooth doesn’t devolve humans. It is a relic from an android, possibly cyborg, individual. What Marcus found was a cyborg, a devolved human that was encapsulated inside what might be called an android exosuit. The android exosuit was mostly powered down, just acting as a sort of stasis pod for the devolved human inside. The tooth provided a jolt, sort of like fuel blood, to allow it to power up but it wasn’t enough for it to maintain its integrity, so it fell apart, revealing the just-awakened devolved human. This points to a kind of symbiosis that was occurring on the planet between devolved humans and mechanical life such as the androids. This may have been a way to try to counter the devolution, by mechanically compensating for the physical and mental deficiencies with an android exterior that made the devolved human more like a regular human.
If you watch the scene the human straight up transforms in to the creature, watch the face and head closely. There is no exo suit, it would fall away to land on the ground. IMO, it makes more sense that this human was just isolated from the outside world when the de-evolution occurred. Hence all the bones here used as a barricade to block the tunnel entrance. It is possible he was even called on by Sol to hide away here. When Marcus brings the tooth of Romulus into the cave and in close proximity of this human the nanotech detects the DNA that it was programmed to target and enacts a de-evolution protocol on it.
@@PseudoX187 The suit disintegrates. It’s probably more accurate to say that it’s an “android sheath“ around the de-evolved human. Kind of like what we saw in Independence Day.
@@peterschuerman Seems more like a flight suit, the texture on the arms and legs does resemble the texture on the tanks from the tarantula though. Hadn't noticed that detail before. Both things can be true however, it could be an exosuit and the human was isolated. I don't think the human was de-evolved though until interacting with the tooth. I think that's just what the humans looked like on this planet. Then they escape to earth and further evolution is how they end up looking like us. Now that I've re watched this scene a few times I'm more curious as to why he's covered in shed serpent skin. Hmmm...
Tempest’s baby began changing after touching Grandmother. Not long after, her pregnancy accelerated and had the baby early. Grandmother also showed Father the same creature that would take her baby. Therefore, I believe Grandmother altered the baby’s DNA and allowed it to survive the acid. Also great call out on the creatures being interested in the babies.
I think so, also the reason why Tempest left and went to give birth next to the acidic water. The child already craved that water and was closer to the creatures rather than humans.
Bryce, well done. Thanks for providing the explanation. I said you would love it. Please do part 2,3,4. Remember There is a possible time loop over thousands or millions of years.
Could the raised by wolves have anything to do with the story of Romulus and Remus the creators of Rome who were raised by wolves and maybe that comparison between campion and Alex one who represents the blindness of faith and campion who represents the true path which is love for all things that exist
@@RealBradMiller Cycle makes sense, but I came to a time loop conclusion due to SOL seemingly knowing everything. Also from his statement of Humans do the same thing destroy themselves every time throughout many years.
You did a great job on this video. Your commentary on it was one of the best I've seen. This is one of the best shows that no one is talking about so I appreciate your coverage on it.
I haven't watched season 2 yet. But the first few minutes of this video is the encouragement I needed to finally make my way though it. 😎👍 I'll come back and watch the rest of this video when I'm done.
It's a shame it got cancelled - although not unexpected, since it was smart, original scifi. BUT I would have loved to have heard what you would make of season 3 - had there been one - bcs this synopsis and explanation were fantastic - very satisfying!
One of the best shows I’ve binged since Breaking Bad. So many truly memorable characters and all the plausible back-stories the show LOST totally failed to explain or even bother with. Def need a season three!
Interesting the trust had the same idea as grandmother to alter the genes of humans for their survival. The problem is that she isn't realizing that humans aren't humans anymore so her mission objective failed this is only possible cause she had no emotional contact to humans to realize what is their defining essence if this essence is destroyed they aren't humans anymore.
I love Raised by Wolves! Your breakdown and explanation is not only hilarious, but easy to follow. You've connected some dots where I didn't even know dots existed! Please Sir, may I have some more? Review go BOOM! God left the chat.
Best review of the entire series, not just season 2. Great work brother! If you see the show and need explanations (as we all should, it being so complex) this is my recommendation! Cheers from Romania, man 😎
Really great recap! I will add that so far the children who have begun devolving are Campion and Tempest's baby. We get the explanation for the baby (mermom milk), but if Campion is being affected by the game, then everyone else should be seeing symptoms too. What is actually causing his changes is the fungus I think. He's eaten a lot more fungus than everyone else, if you include the type he found in the pits in season one. Granny also made a point of directing them to eat the plentiful sea fungus, so that likely isn't just to keep them from eating human meat. So what's the starfish game about? My guess is either that it 'reprograms' the colonists (brainwashing, like with Cleaver), and/or it simply helps keep them occupied so that they are too busy to notice what's happening or to be influenced by the entity.
I think I commented on this video along time ago. However, regardless of whether I’ve seen it before and have forgotten, I just want to tell you that I think you’re an analysis was brilliant. Thank you.
Loved this video; I appreciate other fans of the show bc it, as others have pointed out, is absolutely underrated. I’m really hoping you do more videos in the interim bc it honestly didn’t even occur to me that Marcus may have been turned into a human-necromancer.
I had an interesting thought - whilst we are all probably thinking 'Sol' is the Latin for 'Sun' and therefore Mithraics are worshipping the Sun - 'Sol' is also the French for 'Soil' - so, perhaps, way back in the Mithraic religion there was a misunderstanding and a God/AI/Alien (all the same thing - "power beyond our understanding") located in the middle of the planet/Earth/Soil and named accordingly became mislocated into the Sun :-) - or maybe I haven't had enough sleep - watched last episodes last night -Thank-you Ridley :-)
Just wanted to say thank you so much for this! I can’t believe how much effort you put into your video. I watched the ThinkStory ending explained video first and thought it was just ok. This is way more in depth. I really appreciate you.
Best suggestion I can give to a viewer is this... Look up the meaning or definition of every character... Glad that you went through that as well... The creator of the show is BIG on symbolism... Lots of characters have SIGNIFICANT meaning behind their name... Can give you hints on where this shows plot MAY go...
I have a question that is bothering me. If the "entity" couldn't penetrate the EMF field in the tropical zone, how did Sue have the vision that saved Paul?
That's a great question. Some have stated the tarantula ship is parked outside of the tropical zone, that is how the entity could speak to Sue. So basically, the ship is right next to the tropical zone.
Season1 Episode1, Mithric solider said there is a tropical zone. But, we cannot land there because of electromagnetic field. So, Tarantula should be parked outside the tropical zone.
Excellent review on quite frankly, a mind fuck of a show. I’ve watched a couple other reviews from established UA-cam channels, but your review was by far the best. Your breakdown was epic. You sir got yourself another subscriber.
I'm not sure when exactly the Entity came out of it's hibernation but I believe it had already reached out to Ortho before Campion accidentally caused that smaller craft to crash down into that hole. But definitely, the creatures didn't show themselves till a pregnant Tempest showed up.
Top notch review. I appreciate your comprehensive breakdown. I’m really hoping it gets picked up for season 3 (5 total planned seasons per the creator) Any guesses on where they’re going with some of the characters and/or story based on the symbolism and allusions?
Great review! I would like to add my idea of what the Entity's ultimate goal is. As you explained wonderfully what grandmother's goals with humans is, devolution, I believe the Entity's goal is the same just in a different direction. Instead devolution, grandmother's idea, the Entity is working to Evolve humanity into the next, more advanced species. The Entity induced vision of Campion to mother in the SIM tells mother that humans will always destroy themselves and that what she will give birth to is the real reason she is there on Kepplar. I believe the entity uses the idea of God/spirituality to manipulate humans into engaging in the ceremonies depicted in those cards in able to create that more advanced hybrid bio/tech species. The Entity's original goal was most likely to serve humanity but ultimately, like grandmother, tired of the continual destructional loops of self destruction. So, like grandmother, the Entity also "Altered the Equation" to make it's directives fit. "IT EQUATES!!!!".
Sad this got canned after season 2 because of the acquisition between companies. Be really nice if Netflix or someone else picked it up to keep it going. Thank you for this.
The show feels like LOST. They make up stuff as they go and there are a lot of plot lines that will not lead to anywhere. S2 CGI was terrible, absolutely laughable BUT i feel like the story is interesting and bizzare enough as to keep me hooked. I believe S3 will either make or break the show. If they add more questions than answers i feel people will just gradually stop watching out of frustration and boredome.
@@BryceEdwardBrown Do you think the original Campion knew that Mother would get pregnant by Sol with the serpent and that is the real mission and not the human kids brought with them?
More parts please! Also, the reflection of the lights on the veil are different between Mother and Grandmother, with Mother having a circle disconnected at the top in an almost ouroboros-like fashion while Grandmother has a starburst similar to the Mithraic.
Solid set of theories managing to remember and acknowledge small details the writers did a good job of distracting the viewers enough to forget.. Comparing the humanoid creatures to wolves was a good way to refocus attention on the actual behaviors of the creatures without the bias of simply viewing them as monsters. Also, I completely neglected to make the connection between creatures and pregnant Tempst & pregnant mother this season. Which, now that I'm writing this, makes all the more horrifying that they killed & ate a pregnant creature-- b.c these creatures, stripped down, do seem very concerned about the welfare of human offspring. Fascinating.
You really don't get the name of the series, Raised by wolves, the story of Romulus and Remus being raised by a she wolf, a foreign mother raising human babies, it's not about acting like wolves
Honestly, Sol has no regard for their lives, it has its own purpose and is obviously playing a chess game. What it wants, no one knows yet but the way he disposes people as it see's fit makes it just like the Trust: untrustworthy.
Terrible news that the show probably isn't continuing. I think if they had spent a bit more time answering questions in this second season people might have tuned in more? I for one loved every minute of it, as weird, philosophical scifi is my wheelhouse. I also loved Prometheus.

Great breakdown Bryce! Would love to hear season 3 speculations and predictions. Love the "NecroMarcus" and how this upside down sword is going to confront grandma! Great video, thanks for having it ~20min and not 2 hours of rambling!
13:59 Second verse has to be about Sol, not GM. "The core (Sol) that never was (wasn't a being incarnate, just a voice), now it will be the bones of what was there before (this is either describing Sol emodying a snake or a human, both what was there before they're death and de-evolution, respectively.) Also, Sol was awakened by the mere proximity of humans to Kepler. He reached out to Othos as they approached Kepler instructing him to be fruitful. Sol wants more humans to corrupt.
Good job. I’ve been following a metric shit ton of theories and breakdowns. And from what I’ve learned, Guzakowski got a plan for a grand total of 5 seasons. I’m hoping viewership numbers stay up enough to have more seasons filmed. It’s very interesting and I’d love to have all these questions answered.
I love this series and I think the way you presented both a explanation and a recap without to many spoilers it will make people who’ve heard of the title but weren’t sure whether it was a series worth investing their time into; after seeing your video will give it a chance and like the rest of us, fall in love with it. They had the first episode up on UA-cam, that's what trapped me!
I know right?! I wish the intro song was longer
Yeah this is what I thought
@@FromagioCristiano Number 7 I thought the same things. Never thought the number 7 was evil
🎯💯🎯💯
@@madamgigi I believe 7 was created to be an evil tool of the Entity but the entity didn't count on 7 adopting mother's capability of
having emotions.
Season 3 needs to be made. Period.
Sadly it was canceled 💔
Yes
They left the story LITERALLY HANGING IN THE AIR. The braindead suit that made this decision needs to be throttled.
Good work…..was gutted when this was cancelled it’s such a good show. Pity we can’t get a necromancer to pay a visit to the idiot that cancelled it.

This is easily one of THE BEST, currently available, sci-fi series! And everyday I pray to Sol that it doesn't get cancelled! Great vid man, thx for the upload.

It blows my mind how underrated this show is, not talked about enough.

I think that sol’s true purpose might be more complicated and morally ambiguous.
super interesting point, that's i think the shows greatest strength, whenever one thing seems to be portrayed entirely negativly it suddently gets painted in a new shade of grey, darker or lighter.
i migh have the suspicion that maybe the entity is grandmothers partner? or maybe not
Where did campion show signs of devolving?
@@heavendrop999Towards the end of season 2, when he points out that his skin is changing.
Ah yes the "tree of knowledge" from Adam and Eve.
This season 2 of Raised by wolves drives me so crazy the best SF series ever seen. More intense than the first season Aaron Guzikowski announced 5 season he is the creator the screenwriters and the collaboration with Ridley Scott gives this series a unique universe.
5 seasons! Wow! I"m so happy! I was so sad the snake died.
@Roberto Vidal Garcia ffs
Thank you. 🤙🏽
Showrunner has stated he has a 5 season arc mapped out.
@@terrencejackson914 I know that and that’s very exciting, but from what I’ve heard, it hasn’t been renewed for season 3. Show runners and tv ceos aren’t always on same page.

You're too kind, thank you! More on the way!
Yep that makes sense. 👏🏻👍🏻
Hmmm...
Wow, @ Peter & Pseudo, I find myself stuck right in the middle between thinking you are really observant & insightful vs needing to get a life, lol.
I’m in awe of the way you deeply understand all the shows you cover on this channel 👏🏽
The data contained in this audio/video feed has fully satisfied my care-giving protocol. Very well put indeed.
Bryce, well done. Thanks for providing the explanation. I said you would love it. Please do part 2,3,4. Remember There is a possible time loop over thousands or millions of years.
I don't think it's a time loop, but a cycle! I can't get enough of this show.

Haha thanks Thomas! Hope you like season 2 and this video!
Def need a season three!
this is the best synopsis I've seen of this show. well done!
Oh my lord what a detective work you have done just to break down this season! My favorite sci-fi show in a long time beside the Expanse.

Great show. Binge watched 2 seasons in 24 hours.
Was really disappointed to learn after finishing season 2 that they didnt continue for a 3rd season.

Your voice is even more magical when we can see it come out of your mouth. You should do VO work man.
Stawwwppppp, you're too kind haha Thank you Danny May!
"Soil": late Middle English: from Anglo-Norman French, perhaps representing Latin solium ‘seat’, by association with solum ‘ground’.
It's amazing ! with the donations from the petition they were able to put this screen " RAISED BY WOLVES WE NEED A SEASON 3 " on TIME SQUARE 🗽

Agreed!
The Tarantula was located outside the EMF
That's a great question. Some have stated the tarantula ship is parked outside of the tropical zone, that is how the entity could speak to Sue. So basically, the ship is right next to the tropical zone.
@@aarcas Thank you!
@@terrencejackson914 Thank you! Makes more sense now.
Flawless explanation! Thank you!
Top notch review. I appreciate your comprehensive breakdown.
I’m really hoping it gets picked up for season 3 (5 total planned seasons per the creator)
Any guesses on where they’re going with some of the characters and/or story based on the symbolism and allusions?
This was phenomenal!!! So insightful! I wanna rewatch season 1 and 2 now
Great review!
This was a great analysis and I feel like you only scratched the surface. I would love to see more from you on this series.
If they add more questions than answers i feel people will just gradually stop watching out of frustration and boredome.
gosh.. you look like grown up Campion! He is growing up into a fine lad I see

There is still time….letsgo i have faith #RenewRaisedByWolves #Season3
You really don't get the name of the series, Raised by wolves, the story of Romulus and Remus being raised by a she wolf, a foreign mother raising human babies, it's not about acting like wolves
I don't think Sol is evil, I think he is misunderstood 🤔 I think the real enemy are the technocrats and GM because she is de-evolving the humans.
By far is raised by wolves equal to game of thrones even better! I like this series really much, watched it 2 times in row. One time alone second with my girl. Can’t wait for season 3! Hope this show will have 4 and 5 too!
You're the first person to bring up that scene about Campion talking with the snake in Mother.

Ahhh you're too kind Jared Day, thank you!
13:59 Second verse has to be about Sol, not GM. "The core (Sol) that never was (wasn't a being incarnate, just a voice), now it will be the bones of what was there before (this is either describing Sol emodying a snake or a human, both what was there before they're death and de-evolution, respectively.)
Also, Sol was awakened by the mere proximity of humans to Kepler. He reached out to Othos as they approached Kepler instructing him to be fruitful. Sol wants more humans to corrupt.
