This has to be the HVAC video of the year. Troubleshooting and swamping wasp . When you did the Ali Shuffle with the Blu hat has epic. RIP the great Elizabeth and RandySavage ! “ OOOO YA “ “Come here baby and give the Macho Man a Kiss “.
This is great to see a knowledgeable tech really analyzing and fixing a unit. Around here they just come down and say you need a whole new unit. I'm subbed now.
It sounds ridiculous, but wasps are the primary reason I didn’t go the HVAC/R or electrician route for my career. I wanted to, but they are my kryptonite. Man with a gun? You can maybe reason with him. A wasp? They just want to end you. Total sissy when it comes to them. My garage always has two full cans of HotShot, at all times. I scan my soffits multiple times per week at my house. It’s an unreasonable fear, especially since I’ve never been stung by one in my 36 years! But damn they make me freak out. The hat is on point. In my younger days I drove convertibles. I had two Eclipses in a row and then when I got into adult money, a stunning BMW. Always kept a hat in the map pocket. Nothing beats a wasp or other stinging creature better than a good hat, as you proved here. New to your channel and subscribed. Cool vid bro.
Thank you, Ryan, great video. I agree if the numbers look right for 422B then it's more than likely 422B, However, I agree with you I'd write it up to pull the charge and recharge with 422B just to be on the safe side. I think I'd write up the heat exchanger also because that's gonna go real soon I would say. Cheers for making these videos, I appreciate the time and effort that is required to film and edit so thanks a bunch.
Tip from a fellow yinzer on those old Honeywell economiser controls all you have to do to bypass them is simply pull and isolate the main incoming 24 volts to the controller. Unit will act like no economiser is installed.
8:10 LOL they're not randomly coming at you, there's a nest in that unit, squat down and check the metal channels on the roof curb, always do recon before starting work!!
Good stuff, entertaining and a little sentimental for me, I grew up in that area back in the 70s, do you ever get to the Norwin area off rt.30? Anyhow great vids, good on ya!
I think it was R22 as the refrigerant, you cannot have a negative superheat, please use dew point as a way to calculate superheat. At 13:58 you can see the gauge and temp, I am curious as to what the issue was. I like the video keep up the good work.

The wasp were coming from the curb area. Saw one come from the base of the unit right at the curb.
I agree 422B . Your right on spot to tell them the only sure thing is to recover & recharge with known product. Nice job
Thanks! I appreciate the comment and you watching.
whats the difference between b and d. oil compatibility?
👍🇺🇸🇺🇸💪 great troubleshooting I like the static pressure check to find type of refrigerant.
Thanks shine!
