I remember my first York heat exchanger. It was a side discharge unit on top of steel 6’ up at a movie theater. Used a sawzall to remove it, way more work than it was worth. They suck as a whole though. Thanks for sharing Ryan.
Fun fun when you got 2 stages on a York. It’s an all day job compared to a carrier which a few hrs your done. Right angle bits are a must on these. For how much damage you end up doing to the insulation you would think they would send a roll of it, but apparently they’re too cheap for that
They are almost my least favorite to replace. The larger ones with dual tube set ARE the worst. We would always send three guys for those. We used a small crane to get the old one off the roof and the new one on. Once, we used the crane to lower the new one into place.
Those sunlines do suck. Those screws on the bottom back and the sides are always a pain and rusted beyond belief. I use sheet metal aling the sides too, definitely makes it easier and doesn't rip the insulation as bad as not using it. I thankfully won't see any of those anymore. What always made it worse was doing it when it was cold and or snowing outside....thanks for the video and Merry Christmas to you and the family
Maybe bc my area was littered with them i dont think they are that bad . Ive got some exposure to them lol mean machines i cwn do eith my eyes closed .... good to have a video from you love the content keep it coming..... MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family #MERICA
Yeah, I don’t think they are that bad either, definitely not my favorite. Carrier holds that title. Hope you can come on the inauguration livestream Harrison and I are going to have!
Compared to the majority of automotive heat exchangers like your evaporators to change that would be considered extremely easy. I’d rather do heat exchangers on package units or split systems all day long.. Compared to having to change a evaporator on a BMW and Audi even a Dodge truck spending 7 to 14 hours to replace a evaporator size of your hand
I just changed the exact HEX during a snow storm no less. Biggest pain to change on your first time. Thanks for the vid!
Changing them when it’s nice weather is definitely a factor. These suck even more when it’s extremely cold and snowy! Thanks for watching!

I just did a similar York heat exchanger a few weeks ago. What a pain. Worst RTU heat exchanger I’ve changed. Great video!
Thank you!

Outstanding !
Many thanks!
The smaller ones are just as a pain in the ass too. The only unit that can genuinely piss me off 😂😂
I agree! The smaller ones are even more difficult sometimes!
I had to do two heat exchangers last week. A Lennox n a Trane. I hate that York. Thanks for the short cut
Merry Christmas Rick!
Nice work,Marry Christmas
Merry Christmas 🎄
Johnson controls needs to be outlawed and blacklisted.
Thanks
@HughesManHVAC I don't know if I'd have the patience for a unit like this 😅
Makes you really appreciate the simplicity of replacing a Carrier heat exchanger!
For sure!

Great to see your comment brother! Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
I have yet to have the joy of doing one of those sunline units . Hope I never do but then again I hope i do for the experience
Once you do 25 of them you’ll be an expert!
Yup, York heat exchangers suck. Nicely done, Ryan! Merry Christmas brother.
Thanks bro, Merry Christmas to you too!
Doing the last of 4 of these tomorrow on a 15 ton, I feel for you sir
You got this, brother!

No thanks brother!
👍
Thanks!
If they did not make them out of garbage they would never need replacement.
Yep
What a pile of York 🎄
🤮 York!
The age of that unit, they should have replaced the entire unit.
I say this on the daily, thanks man!
York makes everything hard for no reason😂.
I agree! Thanks for the comment!
This is why you go to college
Some days I have to agree with you.
1237 screws later.
